Selena, I wear leather flip-flops all summer. Will you still talk to me? ;)

If I am wearing hose under evening wear, I simply skip the underwear. No panty lines that way

I lovee the designer flip-flops (and have several pairs), but can't wear them if I am walking any distance. I'm debating whether to take a pair to Turkey. My main shoes will be sandals, but these are very pretty and would give me some variety. But DH is always lecturing me about over packing.

Yorkiemom!  Flip Flops take up so little space in your luggage.  Bet you could tuck a pair in and DH would never know.

I went on my first plane ride at age 2. My Nana took me to visit my Auntie in San Francisco (a short flight away.)

I wore my Easter dress, frilly socks, patent leather shoes, and had a cute little purse.

My Nana wore a conservative suit, a hat, white gloves, hosiery, and heels.

The stewardess (who looked like a movie star) treated us like royalty.

Now when I fly on a plane it seems like I'm squeezed into the seat next to a homeless person/convicted felon/minor runaway, to whom I will be attached like a conjoined twin for the next three hours.

    Oh, how times have changed....

Leather flipflops are bonafide summer sandals and I have a number of pairs: flat; heeled; bejewelled, made of leather or canvas, or other shoe materials, that I wear to work or around the house.  These types of sandal aren't  what I'm talking about.  I'm talking about the ones we used to wear as kids whenever we went to the beach: they were made of rubber in all different colours.  These are what I'm talking about; I see people wearing these to work and I cringe.

Selena, I hate those kinds of flip flops too. To me they are baby shoes. Anybody who would wear them to work is an idiot, IMO. Whoops, I think I am channeling my mom!

Blessings,  I am rolling with laughter.  You just described my last flight!!!   And yes, I remember when flying on an airline was a special event that you dressed up for and you expected to be a pampered guest.  Now, it's just a flying Greyhound bus.

Ladies, Flip flop lovers like me need to divert negative attention away from them......so I am suggesting that the CROC, especially the CROC with fuzzy lining make flip flops look like dress shoes.

Selena, dear, you must lead a very sheltered life if you haven't come across Crocs! They are uglier than flipflops and have the distinct disadvantage of being worn most seasons instead of just summer. If you're feeling strong and brave you can google them.

I wear Naot Tevas but they are my SLIPPERS. I wear them in my HOUSE. I go out anywhere (and that includes the supermarket) and I put on SHOES.

I'm in the Love My Flip Flops club.  I have them in a variety of materials, but the one rubbery pair I own usually only come out in wet situations.  I must wear them for six months out of the year.  Sometimes, if I need to get my mail at the curb, I'll even put them on over my socks, doing that dorky thing of jamming the sock material in between the first and second toe.  I might have done it to go in the car to pick up a kid somewhere too.  It's not a good look at all.  Guess I am not vain about that.

I'm also in the hate to feel a strap across my pinky toe club...hence the flip flops.

I wear the "fur" lined crocs as my winter slippers.

Leah, I love Naot, they are so expensive in the States, but they last forever.  My favorite sandals.

Happy first day of Spring, had to scrap about 2inches of ice pellets of my car windshield, and it's snowing now.  Article in local paper to warn that bears are coming out of hibernation, and attracted to bird feeders ( which I had to give up years ago cuz of bears) so maybe, just maybe there will be a Spring this year, but I have my doubts.

Hey mani-pedi lovers!  Hey nail polish lovers!  Hey people who really like to just look at their nails (and maybe even the nails of others)...

Can I thread jack a moment?

Interesting (and includes icky pictures.)  You will be looking at those toes in sandals a whole new way now.

Yorkie, last summer I went to a VERY swanky wedding in one of the Greek islands - 600 guests on a beach with never-ending food and drink for 18 hours. There were people from all the leading shipping families. All the girls were in chic flip-flops and maxis. It was almost funny.

Momine, I think I'm convinced I better take my fancy flip flops. One pair of black sandals just won't cut the fashion mustard!

Don't get me started on air travel! I worked as an International Concierge with an International Airline for the last 11 years of my working life. That meant, working with the First Class Customers, or running the Lounge. I was always amazed by the way some people would present, for that flight to the US. Track suits or shorts with flip flops were common attire. Of course there were some who dressed beautifully, but they were really not the majority.

It was funny really, because we were sent to the US often, for training and to attend meetings. We always went First Class, if there was a seat available and because of our very strict dress code, it was often a staff member who was the best dressed passenger, in that First Class cabin.

Speaking of manis and pedis. I much prefer to do my own. I never leave the house without my toes done in a color, usually a silvery pewter that has been my signature color for years. I always do gels now, but getting your toes into that little light machine can be a comedy routine in itself! I change my fingernail color or I wear a clear tint, every couple of weeks. I just love the gels!

I have acrylic nails now. Chemo destroyed some of my nail beds, making the nails look awful, so for a long time I wore dark polish. Then I went on Afinitor which made my nails weak and brittle. The combination meant that not only did they break but they broke so low it was terrible. Hence the acrylics, which work for me. No plans to change that.

Sunshine, my sister told me how expensive the Naots are in the States. So now when she comes for a visit one of the first places we go is the Naot store. I have a few pairs of the sandals (and you're right, they do last forever) plus my Tevas (a style similar to Crocs but in leather). Absolutely the most comfortable thing imaginable.

I was checking what horizontal white lines mean (on toes) and if chemo could cause them.  (Yes, probably.)   My nails got so thin during chemo, but still managed to break off frequently (just like you wrote Leah_S.)

    i liked the chart.

Wish I had had it with me when the little turd resident who tried to make all my symptoms fit his misdiagnosis of cirrhosis (instead of ovarian cancer) tried to say I had finger clubbing instead of short stubby hands exactly like my mom's...yeah, I'm not still pissed and bitter...not at all. And that completely unnecessary liver biopsy was a piece of cake too...at least the negative on that finally made them CT my pelvis.

I have been looking at the nail charts myself. Since I was not working I could wear polish on my nails. I was getting manis and pedis, then I took the polish off my fingers and realised I had lines and weird white marks. I took great offence at the "elderly" comment, too.  So I have let them be natural for a while and they have gotten better, but my toe nails are horrible now. Just on my right foot and just two toes. They don't look like anything on the chart, tho. Not sure if I'm going to be wearing any sandals anytime soon. One of the last pedis I got was from a new manicurist (friend of my daughters), not sure that was a good idea! Right now I am wearing fun socks. I hope they clear up by the time the warm weather gets here.

I love sandals! Closed shoes make my feet feel like they 're suffocating. When forced to wear closed shoes, I hardly ever wear socks. Socks make my feet feel trapped so I'm glad I live in a climate where I can get away with it. I do have a few pairs of rubber flip flops (Old Navy carries a rainbow of colors) but they're for wearing around the house or walking the dogs. Not a big fan of a Crocs for adults, but my granddaughter looks adorable in the little pink pair I bought her. She loves them and sometimes refuses to wear anything but her pink shoes.

Informal attire when flying? You may be going to a beach resort but you're not there yet, so don't dress like you are. I'm an ex-Pan Am flight attendant, so,you know how I feel about the issue.

Thanks to plantar fasciitis, no more cheap flip-flops for me. Orthotic sandals only.... sheesh!

But I have to confess to having at least 9 pairs of Mephisto sandals in my closet... the most casual ones look like Birkenstocks, but are WAY more comfy and feminine. And my faves (Sydel) are just too cute. The insole is memory foam and the arch support is divine, and I love the rhinestone bling. I have these in both black and white patent.

Blessings...  So cute!  And you are right about the comfort of Mephistos.  I think you could wear those on an airline flight too.  You are stylin and taking good care of your feet at the same time.

My favorite flip flops are Coach.   They have the cutest patterns on the insoles . Michael Kors also makes flip flops that are adorable.

I STILL dress up on flights and I'm not flying first class, either! I feel for what it costs, that I'd like to feel special and I pull out the good stuff. Not high-heels, but a smart outfit for sure. I have a respect for the industry and treat it that way. Amazes me what people consider "casual" - I'd hate to see what they wear (or don't!) at home!!! And really, if we're supposed to wear our "good underwear" daily in case a bus hits us, why not pull out all the stops in case the plane crashes??

Caryn, I feel the same way about sandals! Can't wait until it is consistently warm enough to wear the every day. Already had a pedi, but I'm having to wear closed toed shoes anyway. Maybe by next week when I have my next mani/pedi the proverbial tide will have turned.

    Blessings, CUTE!

I don't exactly dress to the nines on flights, but I always look coordinated and put together (surprise, surprise!). For me, being comfortable is #1 priority, especially on long flights.

My toenails survived chemo intact with few problems and I get regular pedicures to keep them ship-shape.  My fingernails; however, are still brittle and peeling, and the skin around the nailbeds peels regularly.  And, of course, it doesn't help that I'm always handling old files, old documents, old registers; I always have papercuts.

Flying terrifies me, so I haven't done it in years.  If I can't there by car, train or boat, I don't go.  Psyching myself up for it again though because there are still places I want to see: Egypt; Russia; New Zealand.  And I'd love to go back to England again; France; Germany.  I crave the days when travelling meant a set of subdued, but chic "travelling clothes" and a matched set of luggage.  Would really, really, REALLY love to take a trip on the Orient Express one day.

Selena, I just have to drown out the fear with reading, watching movies and of course drinking! This Flight 370 thing isn't helping my anxiety. I've noticed that once I'm in the air, I calm down and almost forget about how vulnerable we are way up there. Besides by that time it's way too late to pound on the cabin door and demand to be let out!

Selena - meet ya on the ground I leave the air travel for those with wings..

Nails - notice my nails are STRONGER than ever in my life.  Only thing I can think of is the calcium/magnesium, and very high Vitamin D blood levels?  Of course most toenails get thicker, harder with age, and if mine get any moreso, I'm gonna haveta use that thingie they use to cut horse hoofs.  Seriously.

Sandals, only Keen for me, a natural born klutz, and those rubber toes are a blessing.

Um, yeah, about that... SOME of us have a stupid giant cowlick that just wants to stay parted no matter how much we smush it down with Aqua Net or Rhino Glue!!!  Seriously, I DO own a mirror!!! (And it seems to be genetic... both my cousins have it....)

Actually, I remember someone telling me that her grandson was poking around her hairdo, and when he came to the cowlick in the back, told her "Grandma - your hair looks like a cat's butt!" Out of the mouths of babes!
