How vain are you?

Well, I don't believe it, but it's, actually, going up into the double-digits Celsius today. WOOOT!!!! I can wear my wonderful, black suede, 3" heel booties to work without worrying about salt-stains! I feel human again.
Breaking out the Spring-coloured lipsticks: peach, coral, peachy-coral, corally-peach, and rose. Can't do my nails to match: ripped a nail working around my mother's house on the weekend right down to the quick and it's very sore. If nail polish touches the inflamed area, it will send me through the roof, I'm sure. I've, always, dreamed of having beautiful, long-fingered elegant hands, but have been cursed with "artist's hands": strong, wide-palmed, short fingered hands that can turn themselves to any task, but simply are not elegant. My hands always give me away...
OOOoooo! Speaking of tasks! Yours truly has accomplished something that has been on my "bucket list" for about twenty years. I have, finally, become proficient enough at knitting to knit a sweater. Well, a cardigan, actually in a 6-month old size. There's a matching hat (which I did first to get used to the pattern) and a tiny pair of mittens (which I haven't done because the idea of knitting a thumb still scares me), but I DID IT!!! I'm so excited!!!
I've always wanted to know how to knit, but had no one to teach me. So, during treatment, when I was simply too exhausted to do anything else, I worked my way through "Knitting for Dummies" and taught myself to knit. I picked it up pretty quickly, but ran into a psychological block when it came to attempting to knit anything that wasn't square, like a blanket or a scarf, or a pillow. It's taken two years to work up the courage to try this tiny sweater and I'm very pleased with how it's turned out. I see room for improvement, but it's not too shabby.

smiling with selenawolf, you have my hands, or as I call them, paws. They are very functional tho, and I especially like they are very much like my grandma dora's hands. Even to the little bitty bit of hair on the second joint of the ring finger, supposedly inherited and skips a generation. Hard to see it, but it's there.
ICE coated trees in western MA, speed limit on Mass Pike reduced to 40mph, light snow now, Spring? Well, I'm doubtful, but hopeful. Supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow, what a lost season for maple syrup.
Learned when I moved here, have to stop tapping trees when they go into bud, as the sap gets BITTER. A way the tree protects itself when it needs the sap to nourish new growth, it's been so cold not much sap has been running, and as soon as there's any warmth, the trees will go into bud. Guess everyone knows it takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of syrup. All the big maples around here are tapped.
-
Selena, that is so cool with the knitting. I knitted all through treatment too.

80 degrees here. Finally got to wear a spring dress & sandals today.
-
Jealous. Although it's above freezing here, it's still cold enough to require a winter coat.
-
Rumors Spring will arrive in East this week, I'm doubtful but OPEN TO THE POSSIBILITY. It has been SUCH a long, long winter....

Seleeeeeeeeeeeeeena....I want to tempt you with a boot product that you might just die for!!!! It's an ankle boot you buy once, but you change the shaft of the boot to your whim and fancy!!! I don't want to give it all away as I plan to sell them, but I could certainly meet up with you in \Mansfield if you'd like a peek.....
-
Blessings, soooo cute!
Selena, those are awesome boots! My youngest daughter, the make-up artist, would go mad for them! I'm going to try and copy then send the link to her.

I posted this on another thread but thought it belonging here as well. The dress was one of those things that you try on and you instantly know that it looks and feels totally right for you.
" I was out running errands and decided to pop into Marshall's (a great "thrill of the hunt" kind of store). I found a beautiful long black cotton jersey dress that can be casual or dressed up with accessories. The neckline is a circular band that is gathered in front and back, so it's very cut in at the shoulders (sleeveless). Because it's cut in so far, my port shows. For a few minutes, I considered not getting it, though I loved it in every other way. Then I realized, I don't care! This lovely dress is now mine and who cares if my port shows. I feel great in it and will enjoy every second of wearing it."
This moment of vanity was brought to you by exbrnxgrl. Now, back to packing.
-
Exbrnxgrl, good for you! When a dress is just right...hugs all your curves, great color, makes you feel good, grab it. People won't ever see the port...your radiant smile and happiness in your new dress will blind them. Have fun on your trip. (did you get some cool flip flops to go with the dress?)

exbronx, I felt the same way when I had to get a mother-of-the-bride-and-then-groom dress within 3 months of my double mast!! The lady kept trying to direct me to neck high "Mum" dresses but when I put on an eggplant strapless long dress I was stunned! I felt I looked beautiful and because I felt that way it showed in all the pics!
I had to have them alter it to bring the boning tight to my chest at the top so it didn't gape. It had a tiny shrug which I didn't wear in May for my daughter's wedding in the Dominican, but did wear for my son's August wedding in northern Ontario. Here's a shot...
-
Barbe, you look gorgeous! The dress was absolutely perfect!
-
barbe - you look beautiful! A radiant mother of the bride and of the groom... wearing the perfect dress!
-
Barbe, love the dress and you!
My vain moment: I stopped wearing my wig on Wednesday. A little shocking for people, I guess, but it is too hot here! And I do think I look modern/sexy! At an inch length
-
Barbe,
You do look beautiful in that dress. I love the color and it reminds me very much of the color I wore to my own dd's wedding last June. Currently removing old gel manicure. Will get up early and do new gel manicure before we leave for the port (not the one in my upper chest). I did get a nice shiny pedi a couple of days ago.

Headeast, as soon as I had about 1/4 inch of hair, I ditched the head covering. I had a wig, but never wore it. The thing made me feel like a Monty Python guy dressed up as a housewife. But when I was bald, I did wear scarves, hats etc.
It is almost exactly 2 years ago that I moved the scarves from my head to my neck:
