Thinking Out Loud.....

Yet again, awake since 4:30 a.m. My internal clock is messed up. Had quite a lot of snow out here in the mountains. Driving back from a gathering last night, the visibility was just terrible but roads weren't too bad. I guess there is also a few inches of snow at our house too - planning to drive back over the pass today but will keep checking since they are talking freezing rain.
Joan, you have taken on a new project! Why can't they standardize microwave sizing? Do you think you'll end up changing countertops or anything else?
When we got back last night, I watched the first three episodes of Orange is the New Black - been meaning to do that for a while. Since I am up and sitting in our little tv room, on to Episode 4.

Rain.......what "pass" did you use.................I remember them all..........I also remember there was 2 they closed all the time..........one was "White Pass"....can't remember the other......and the only one left open, and that was no fun was Snoqualmie (spelling).........but then again the snow was banked so high you couldn't go over the side cause there was a wall of ice that you would hit first.......LOL
I also remember..........Ellensburg canyon (think I got that right)........looking down and seeing tops of the evergreen trees, and thinking "wow that is a long way down".............loved the area, and my husband's dream was to return..........sadly he died, and we never got back.........
II saw you are getting a huge storm........here they are saying massive amounts of snow...........just stay warm......we had it bad, and still not out of the woods, but dealing with it...........No Choice, right........
-
It is Snoqualmie Pass that we use - our place is about 15 min west of Ellensburg. So far, the roads are not looking appealing to me but hoping to catch a window to head home. They are talking about more snow here today and freezing rain at the pass - desperately don't want to be in the freezing rain situation. My DD has a friend here who is leaving on a trip early tomorrow...... it's really pretty outside right now. I'm sorry you and your DH did not get back to it, Ducky. It is beautiful.
-
Rain.....like I said, we lived in Yakima......they called that the "Sunnyside of the mountain, and it was........However it was February when we were supposed to leave after coming back from Ft. Lewis once he was discharged.......the next morning was our "heading home" day.....back to Philly........that did not happen for another 3 days......the temp was -28, and of course the car was not about to start with those temps.........finally a woman who lived across the street, offered for us to leave our car in her garage........her and my husband put cardboard in front of the Grille of the car, and covered the hood in blankets....................well that worked............then when we got to Boise, the next morning again the car would not start...........got a jump and we were on our way again..........we did not reach above 0 temps until we hit Nebraska.....and it was exactly that .......0........
Going to Wa. was beautiful.......May, Spring, everything was blooming...........not coming back.....it was a nightmare......
I have to say, the Pacific Northwest is the most beautiul part of the country.........Oregon was amazing.........riding along the River, among all the evergreens was majestic.........we got to Wa. at night, so I could not appreciate its beauty, but the next morning my husband took me to White Pass, and I saw Mt. Ranier.....I was in awe........
We lived in an apt on the Main Street going through Yakima, and right down the road there was a place that sold donuts called "Spudnuts"...........OMG, they were to die for, ..........today everyone raves about Krispy Kreme donuts, which are fantastic, but no donut made can beat a Spudnut.........and the same place made homemade root beer..........
Ok, I am getting boring now, but just had to let you know what a wonderful part of the country you live in...........so sorry I never got back......Ok, now I depressed myself........LOL.........hugs.... next time you go through the Pass......give a shout out for me..........
-
Aww Ducky - so happy you enjoyed it here. I'm going to try to go back over the pass at around 1, the warmer part of the day.....but still gets me back before dark.
We just facetimed our granddaughter who did not want us talking to her baby sister at all....so she pushed her out of the camera's way and then got into trouble and lost her privilege. Not as fun watching an 8 month old drool as talking to a two year old.....
-
LOL..........get it..........
-
Talked to my DD today, she still has pregnancy rhinitis. She asked the doctor how to get rid of it. Doctors said when you have the baby. I'm glad I didn't have that. She sneezes about 50 times a day and can't breath good at night, she is also gassy. Sneeze...fart...sneeze....fart. LOL
-
Deb..........LMAO.............not funny, God love her.........but the way you said it..........LOL
-
Deb...i know it's not funny
I'm LOL about the way you described it
I never heard the word rhinitis before
-
Google it, it's real. I never heard of it either.
-
Oh I have heard of it.............just not quite the way you described it Deb.........LOL
-
I googled it Deb
-
Darnn.........can't they put something else on besides snowboarding...................
Waiting to see the American skaters..........I could care less about snowboarding..............
-
I think they are next Ducky....
did you see that poor guy how badly he fell on the snow
-
I thought that was a girl..........the one who split the helmet down the back..........it looked really bad.........if I have the right one........I swear it was a girl.........but what do I know......LOL
-
Ducky...i didn't think just said poor guy...lol
they all look the same
Good Night
USA couples skating was excellent....
-
Yes they do all look the same........LOL........
Yes they were very good........the Russian couple was fantastic, and loved her Swan costume.....
Thought Traci Gold was fantastic...............the Wagner chic rubs me the wrong way......she acts like such a snit........really don't think she deserved to be there........she was put there by the committee........shocked me...........she placed 4th during tryouts previous to the Olympics......not sure how she got picked to go......I know there was a contraversey about her getting to go.........
-
Can't watch Olympics tonight, I'm loving the Beatles tribute
Good to know my youth in New England isn't completely lost, I drove home just fine. It was tricky at times, but I still got it!! By it, I mean gumption
-
Just lost my long-ish post....I hate when that happens.
I like the snowboarders - they smile and laugh whether they won or fell or whatever. Skating is great...more to come.Deb, I've heard of rhinitis, but not the sneezing ...very difficult when pregnant. Hope she finds relief.
Diane, Ducky, I love the PNW. I only spent a few days there but there is endless beauty there. I went to Mt. Ranier NP and the mountain came out for some photos. You are right - not fun driving over the pass with sleet or freezing rain.
Diane, how long does it take to get to the cabin?
Ducky, maybe you can seeIt is just finishing up snowing and I see that everything is covered again....but just a little bit.
I do need to keep going with the kitchen but Dh does not want to keep spending. I just think we should get it done. -
Joan - if you want it done, I think you should get it done, it's only money?
All our lives, we live for our kids, our families and I really feel committed lately to living for me first! It takes an hour and 15 minutes to the cabin, door to door
Some developments on DS's visit with babies and DIL - DS called me the other day and said "I just want us to stay with you". I asked if "all" were on board with that and he says yes. Still haven't directly communicated with DIL since October. I don't know if I can do the whole hug thing I used to offer. I'm not good at fake.
Either my DD or me always has rhinitis - it is basically inflammation of the membranes in the nose from allergies, and now we learn, also pregnancy - wow!
Did anyone watch the Beatles tribute? 50 years and still relevant. Yoko was weird as ever though.
-
Rain.....glad you made it home safely.
Did not watch the Beatles......did not know it was on........was on the IPad playing Rune most of the night........TV was on, but not paying attention..........great way to waste electricity.....although when skating came on I did watch it.......
Like the Dance skating did that when I was younger, but we did it on roller skates at skating rinks around the country......it is so much fun.......my cousin was a National Champion in Dance skating........I did it too, but not as seriously as her.......it is so much fun....you would think easier because your on 4 wheels, and not 1 blade, but it is harder because when you do all the turns, you have to turn 4 wheels............such fun........
-
I can't stand the Beatles and she has always been weird and can't dance is in her 70's...are you all watching the Olympics? I am sort of the twins are tho.
How is everybody?
-
Blondie.........who can't dance and is in her 70's..........other then me.........LOL........sorry......I can dance......thank heavens............only talent I have............
Was never crazy about the Beatles.......my kids were.........I was more Johnny Mathis, Tom Jones, type.......call me old fashioned...........
Watching the Olympic's.......barely.......just what I like otherwise, they can keep it.....and the Russian audience gets on my nerves........and also Putin......who thinks he is so "hot".........."not".
Stay warm girlfriend.........another round of snow coming our way Wednesday.....
For those who don't know......Blondie and I live 20 minutes from each other........
-
Aw Ducky - you are good at more than dancing. Look at how many kids you have! And then there's your work at the Township Line
-
yea that's true............forgot about Township Line.........LOL
-
Not too happy with Olympics tonight
But tummy is very satisfied with a large amount of guacamole and pita bread
Tomorrow MH and we wait for Thursday to see what kind of winter storm are getting
Joan...I'm glad you're renewing the kitchen pretty soon you'll be walking on the beach
Diane...was that decision the family staying with you a surprise? Are you happy?
Hi Sandy and Ducky...(((HUGS)))
FK...where are you/
-
Ducky - I think Blondie is referring to Yoko Ono as weird.....and she is right
Sheila - yes, that was not part of the plan at all. Received two page list of items I need to have - did 3/4 of it today and have spent just under $400. Kids suck their organic grains and fruits from foil packs these days at a ridiculous cost - have to wonder how they'll learn to chew
. Bought six boxes of diapers, three types, two sizes of each, two kinds of wipes, three different ointments. Snowsuits in case it snows. And more.....for those of you with long distance grandchildren and like me, may not have a houseful of baby furniture and gear, I was pretty excited to learn of Happy Little Travelers (they have differently named subsidiaries all over). I have one crib, need two. Needed car seats and stroller - rented it all from them for a week - total cost $160 plus delivery/setup fee. This is a lot of work but I can't wait to hold my girls again.
-
Great.....here we go again......8 plus inches of snow, plus winds, and a Nor'easter......WTH.......
-
When the cutie pies are coming (Meant the grandaughters)
I like to go all organic but i can't effort it so I only get organic eggs.....bread....carrots and my salad
DD doesn't eat anything but Organic so it's difficult to cook something and send it to her
She said she would supply the ingredients if I make her red lentil soup
I'm very happy for you Diane and just zipper the mouth when it's necessary and enjoy the little ones
-
Sheila, Diane, I'd love to go ahead with the kitchen...haven't crunched the numbers...and Sheila, if I do that, I will be walking on the beach because I wouldn't be going anywhere else.
Diane,1.5 hours is a reasonable drive....just far enough to feel away but close enough to get there any time. You must be excited about seeing your grandkids....
Hi Sandy, glad you're back...
Appliances coming tomorrow...of course my old fridge is working and looking pretty beautiful right now...snow and ice in the driveway, furniture in the way of the entrance...I'm not worrying...DH is taking the day off so I do not have to deal with the stress.Getting up soon...I should really go to sleep for awhile.
