Thinking Out Loud.....

Well I've been trying to go back to sleep for almost an hour and finally accept that it's not happening. I am really bad about wearing color. Since DH prefers less black, my color is now grey. I like to wear some blues as well. Exciting, ha? Grey ooks good with my hair though
I know I never saw the news last night, so I've probably had six hours sleep. DH hates it when I fall asleep with the tv on and moved to the guest room, which makes him so, so crabby in the morning.
Joan, I hope you've had an easy drive to school this morning - are you seeing SF son in May?
Val, yes, it would be a riot - can only imagine the noise we'd all make.
It's a very big day for Seattle. Lots of excitement about the Seahawks and the parade. Lots of distress over schools that closed and schools that didn't, same with businesses. This really is historic and if I had children who wanted to be there, I would skip whatever and take them. Those who are there will remember today for so many reasons.
Mmmmm....I think I smell coffee!

we finally got hit with the big snowstorm
Got 6inches and expecting 10 more

WOW...........Philly suburbs got whacked.............Guess what............none of my kids have power........they all lost it this morning very early...........even their places of employment......so they are all home.........
My youngest has a fireplace so she has heat, but she has everything else electric including the stove....told her to come here and eat...she is 5 minutes from me by car...she said Thanks Mom, but we are fine......
So far I am good....but guess whatever got fixed the other day is holding up.............time will tell.
Love this thread........stay warm Fire......we just got ice, no snow...........
-
I just went out to smoke
Wow it's really a winter wonderland
Yup we r expecting to get pounded
Fine with me as long as the heat stays on I'm good
My GDs hubby cleaned off their cars in case of an emergency
GOD forbid I would have to go there
I hear u ducky about wanting to be in my own place.
Hope everything stays workin just fine
Finally had to put the heat on
I think we are in the state of emergency

-
Stayed home from work, my boss said not to go in. Went back to bed and slept til 12:39 had breakfast and went out snow blowing. My sister shoveled and cleaned off mine and her car. All clear til next storm.
My DD is flying in April 11th, having a baby shower the next day, she wants the Beatrix Potter theme. Got some great ideas.
-
-
well that's nice to hear(not the snow) but the baby shower
I'm not liking it at all(the snow)
Enuf!!!!!
Come back often and keep us updated
We love baby showers
-
Sheila - are you copying me???

I hope you all have heat and power?

It's damn cold without it
Poor ducky had a real run for her money BUT It's over now

Did Ducky have to run for her money at Township Line again???
Ok Sheila - you can be snowcitygirl and I will remain raincitygirl. Should we call you Snow for short?
Joan - hope your drive home was ok.
-

I cried a little today.......
Some of you remember~~ stillverticle, Melissa Jenkins, a sister here at BCO, that was tragically lost to us almost a year ago now. Well, I have had several voicemail messages from her on my phone & I have not been able to listen to them since that tragic day. Well, I listened to them today because I am getting a new phone tomorrow & those voicemails will be lost forever. My nose is tickling & my eyes are welling up now as I speak of this....
As I listened to her "talk" to me, I remembered our wonderful conversations....in that NC accent.....that laughter......
Much too sad...... lost much too soon.
I know you understand. Some days we stumble a bit & today was one of those days for me....
I need to redirect my focus. Please, y'all, tell me about this "broom" trip we're takin'. I need some fun!!!
-
(((Val))) I can't believe it's coming up on a year...if you decide to keep those messages safe, you could record on your phone (if it has the feature) or even on a computer with microphone.Maybe you just want to remember her in your heart....it is an honor to her memory.
My drive to work and back was uneventful. It rained a lot and was not icey on the drive.
one more storm brewing...
Deb was wondering how much snow you got after all. I forgot to check with DD who lives in MA.
Ducky, how ironic that your kids were out and you were the one with power. Now they get how you wanted to stay home when your power was out.
Sheila, dreaming of warm places with you!!
Diane, I have the same habit....of falling asleep....and DH hates it. He can't sleep if I'm not in bed and i can't sleep if I am. LOL
Stay warm!

The weather has cooled down a little bit and has stayed in the low fifties for the past couple of days. The orchards have begun to bud out and last night we were expecting a freeze. Make sure you ladies stock up on pistachios and almonds now, because if the bud are damaged we may not have as much of a harvest.
We are not on rationing yet. Where I live we are not on metered water yet. A drought may spur the local government to put meters on us. Way back, during a drought I remember them only allowing people to water their lawns on specific days. Once we landscape our backyard I have been looking into artificial turf.
Yes, koi can be a lot of work, but they don't have to be too labor intensive. It is a fun hobby and we have made so many friends around the state because of it. A couple of weeks ago a national magazine about koi did a small "spotlight" on DH and I. Twenty four years ago when I entered this hobby I would never have dreamed I would be so INTO it.
-
I came back here this morning and realized I never submitted the previous post which I wrote yesterday.
What is wrong with me???
-
Too early for me to write much (it is pre-coffee), but Meece I wanted to tell you that DS used artificial turf both here in SEA and then in CA. Both times he ordered from Costco.....
More later......
-
awwwwww Val...I talk about SV a lot especially since Veggy passed away
I feel ur pain and I no how much it hurts u
When I was laying on the ground YOU picked me up sooo now it's my turn
Please think of all the fun we used to have with her
She kept us laughing even when she was in such bad shape
She will always be a big part of BCO even tho she left
Please remember the good times and if her phone calls mean that much to u well,,u will find a way to keep them.
She is at peace now...she would not want u to be like this
Gosh I feel like I'm talkin to myself now
Yes she is gone but damnit she will never be forgotten
Put those big girl panties on,a smile on ur face and do something nice for yourself
I wish I could give u a huge hugggg.
Just no she is watching you
And I. Will be watching u too
Please pm me if u need to talk
Or
Call me...Ok?
I love u sista of the heart
