So happy to hear that Anne won!!  She deserved it, and thanks to all here who were her advocates in reminding people to vote.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes.  Since then, it's  been low key around here, and just frigid for NC.  I can just imagine the electric bill dollars mounting up as the heat pump runs so much more now, almost all the time!  I do like the heat pump in the summer, but in  weather like this there's nothing to get up against for warming and we have no fireplace.  DH and I just wrap up in old afghans and that works pretty well.

Leah - I was so sad to hear about your Dad.  I lost mine a few years ago and still miss him so very much.  My heart is with yours as you go through this time of sorrow.  Hope the shiva can ease some of the pain of the loss.

Praying for safe travels and healing of the heart.  Love you. AJ

I have been doing a little better with my balance since I have started physical therapy.  Even the neuro. doc. has noticed the improvement.  I have not worn those shoes since the fall so they are off to Good Will, they used to be my favorite shoes.  Just finished week 1 of my 14/7 day cycle of tamoxefin and nothing major to report except for the nausea from every dose.  I am still really tired all the time and onco. said that would probably not get much better and to just give in and rest as much as I could.  Funny that I am so tired and yet cannot sleep at night.  I wake up every hour for 2 hours then sleep for 1 hour then up for 2.  This is worse than having a newborn baby in the house!  Even my afternoon nap has gone from 2 hour to 30 minutes.  At least I have gotten to read several books that had been waiting on my iPad to be read.

Kathy - hope you had a wonderful birthday and are managing to keep warm.  My DH has been keeping a fire roaring in the fireplace for me.  He even put some chairs around the front so that I would not fall into it again while there was a fire going.

    Hugs to all, AJ

    ((((AJ))))

Scan I had today was fine and its just nodules on thyroid and in throat. Have to have thyroid function checked.

Trying to print off some family history as DH is helping to organise a family reunion in March. Must go and check up on the tennis.

    Big hugs to all

HI, Ya'll know I pop in from time to time.  Today feeling a bit of smaltsy, it's my 5th year Cancerversary.  My home thread is Insomnia thread, but I thought who do I want to share this with besides my dear friends there. I thought of my friends here. I know you will share in my JOY of this day, b/c we each have the thoughts in common re:BC. Bless you all in your journey.

Hmm opened a bottle of wine, thought about these few hours in 2009. 11:55 am--I had a phone call from a nurse that said  "DR.  L wants you to know you have a brain tumor"----no answers to what, where, what kind, etc. Said to her "Well, going out the door for a 1pm bx, we know is going to be positive" "I quess when the shit hits the fan".

Talked over films with radiologist, I pointed some stuff out on the films and said "This tells me it's very aggressive". He looked at me, with the look of --should I be honest with her or not. He said "Yes"

Figured a good little nurse would tell her boss that she had a brain tumor. DH and I already figured out a plan for him to drive me on my homecare nursing calls. Told boss of tumor and plan. Her words "We need to know you're safe with patients, I have to relieve you from work". I never worked again.

In the space of four hours, I had a triple hit. A brain tumor, breast cancer, and lost my career of 40 years.

But my Lovey's, It's five years today. We never know why anything happens the way it does. I wrote the following in 2011 it appears. Probably on a glass of wine then too :)

This thread is about being prepared------------and will continue to be so, but add to your list about ending it.

There will come a time that you will no longer need BCO. It is different for each person. Some need to stay here b/c no one in their life gets what they have experienced.

Others need to stay b/c they have developed friendships, that are beyond dissolution, by leaving.

Others want to stay b/c they love helping others.

Why we stay or why we leave, is to each our own, we love when we are here and remember when we our gone.

But always , remember you are valued, and your return is received joyously, because you LIVE.

It's a good way to get my steps in. Fun to just go to a couple of areas at the zoo. And as usual I take my camera along. We have been getting annual passes for years now. Good way to support the work they do and have some time to enjoy it also. I always like to go alone so no one is pushing me along and I can take time to see the animals up close and personal.

Lisa, I love your zoo.  If I lived our there, I would definitely get an annual pass.  Have been there twice and well worth the admission price.  Wished ours was as nice.

Lisa love that gorilla!  Such incredible knowing in those eyes!

I haven't been to the zoo since forever as I always have so much to do when I go to the city.........I really should just make a day and go and enjoy as I do love the animals and doing it alone would let me just relax and take in the antics of some of them.

Enjoying a quiet Saturday afternoon waiting for the Tennis tonight.

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Lisa, I love the photos, too. Great pictures. A hummingbird sitting still is quite the feat.

sas, so good to hear from you. Happy happy news on the 5 years!

An article came out in our local paper today about the shop reopening. The reporter did a good job. It is big news here in the dead of winter, lol! The cobbler and I are settling into a routine. I am trying not to micromanage but be available and help to deal with customers. There was even a picture of my dog in the shop. That will definitely get the word out and the work in.

My DS is home for the weekend. His first words to me were "There is no real food in the house!" lol guess he has to go grocery shopping.

hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Lisa, I love the zoo photos!  I do envy you being so close to a zoo and being able to go anytime you want to.  We have one zoo in NC and I've been a few times, but it's a natural habitat zoo and often the animals cannot be seen at all, or at least up close.  Well, except for the snakes.  They're confined, thank goodness.
