    Merry Christmas Morning Everyone!

We had a lovely ham dinner last night ... and leftovers today!  I celebrated with my family a few days ago.  Tim never heard from his family.  It makes me sad.  My grandsons got the presents from me the other day and opened them.  I had a wonderful phone call from Isaac thanking me for the drawing book I sent him.  He's like me ... a budding artist and I always encourage him to learn to draw.  They loved all the other stuff in the box I sent too.  This year was different as instead of sending the usual gift cards to everyone in my son's family, I shopped for special presents for each of them.  It was so much fun!

It's cold today ... but he dogs don't care that it's Christmas or that it's freezing out ... will still need to walk them in a bit.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful loving holiday.

    hugs,

    Bren

Merry Christmas everyone.  I'm cooking a turkey this morning just for us (and lots of leftovers!!).  Yesterday we spent with hubby's family.  This afternoon I think we'll go to a movie.  We used to always do that, and somehow quit after all the kids left.  We've decided to take back our inner child.

GG good for you.  Dh and I used to go to a Christmas matinee' every year but didn't this year.  Spent time with family just chatting about odds and ends, and enjoying some of the "memories" when we were all just growing up and still single.

Hope you all had a really wonderful day spent just exactly how you wanted with people you could enjoy.

    What jackie said :)

Hope all had a wonderful Christmas day.  SO special.  Looking forward to sharing GOOD HEALTH with all in 2014.

Especially hope all in Canada are safe, warm, and with electricity.  We were spared, very cold, well below 0, but dry, and warm inside.

We saw Robert Redford's new movie All Is Lost tonight. Very strange and disturbing movie. Redford was the only actor in the movie and only spoke a few times. He was shipwrecked and the whole movie portrayed his herculean efforts to survive. Tomorrow we're seeing either The Hobbit or Saving Mr. Banks. Hoping I leave the next movie with a better feeling.

Merry Christmas to all.  I have been absent for the last week or so, just busy with Christmas shopping and preparations.  It always wears me out so totally but I have to admit, I love this season.  My blood counts have been low so I know that contributes to the fatigue.  DH actually went to church with me last night and said he enjoyed seeing kid friends,  will wonders never cease!!  We had all the family here for dinner and gift opening and I am exhausted.  I think we spent the last two days in the kitchen.  Tiring but a sense of satisfaction, too that I could still pull it off.  Tomorrow leaving for California to take my grandson to see his dad.  Disneyland here I come!

So sorry for the sadness that has occurred ... 29 year olds should not die.  Unexpected deaths are so hard to fathom.  My prayers are for the family and friends and those who loved him!  Love you all and love reading the last ten pages to catch up on what is going on in your lives!

Love you all and feel blessed that I have been welcomed Into this loving circle of friends.

Merry Day After and Happy Boxing Day!

It's sunny and cold here this morning.  Only 28 degrees.  Tim just left for Pennsylvania.  I thought today I would clean and start taking down the Christmas tree and decorations.  He will be gone all through next week, so we won't be celebrating New Years together.

Jackie ... I was thinking about Athena last night ... I still miss her.

Glenna ... OMG ... even with your counts down you have amazing energy!  Have a great time in California.  They are having Santa Ana winds right now and the temps are really high.  I wish I could sneak along in your suitcase!

Yorkie ... Not sure I'd want to see a movie where Redford was the only character.  I think the best castaway was Tom Hanks!

Hope everyone has a great day ... so grateful for your friendship.

    hugs,

    Bren

Glenna - lovely to "see" you, happy you are tired from being busy!  Really - you have so much Spirit and energy - hoping docs can help with the "low" counts.

Speaking of "low" - has any one else heard, that as we get older, we have more difficulty absorbing Vitamin B12, especially for those of us who don't eat much red meat.  Well, knowing I can't "od" or get toxic on B vitamins, cuz they're water soluble and we just pee'em out if they're in excess, I started taking separate Vitamin B 12 METHYL ( get most of my supplements online, Lucky Vitamin) and I SWEAR I have more energy than b4 I started taking them.  Is it a "placebo" effect, well, if I is, I'll take it.  They're cheap, little raspberry tasting things I pop under my tongue.  I take a massively stong multi vitamin, but adding these VB12 METHYL seems to be making a difference.

Been reading a lot about "iodine" - but as I take thyroid medication, I'm not going to do anything about it now.  Still reading...

Gorgeous snow, light, fluffy, and warmer - up in the 20's - heatwave for us :)

Jackie - loved the picture, I often think of our friend cooling in the shade of her acacia tree...seems like SO many sad goodbyes this year.  Chilling.

Sunnyflowers ... glad to hear the B-vitamin is working so well for you.  Good thing you have more energy!

Well, I got the tree down and all the decorations. Don't know what possessed me to do it today.  Still need to vacuum and dust.  The house looks so much tidier with all the Christmas stuff back in the storage bins.

I did walk the dogs and boy was it ever cold out.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas,

    Bren

    Oh, Blue, they're GORGEOUS!

Poor tree - maybe Ray could go outside and try to "shake" some of the ice off, so the weight won't break the tree?

Love the flower - gotta go look up more about it.

    ;-0

    The Pink Puya (Puya
    dyckioides)
is a beautiful, rare Pineapple relative from Argentina
that's rarely seen in cultivation. Not only do the flowers have a
    gorgeous color combination, but
the colors deepen as the cluster matures! Unlike most Puya plants, which have very sharp and painful thorns, this one has tiny thorns that are barely noticeable!
This exotic Bromeliad happens to be easy to grow, and is hardy down to 20-22 degrees F (-6 C).
Fresh seeds are rarely seen for sale.

What gorgeous pictures Blue..........what beautiful babies.  Childhood innocence creates a lot of light and warmth, doesn't it.

Glenna...Yay for you.  You've got a great determined spirit.

Sun shinning so pretty here.....though very cold and frosty this morning.  Still quite brown around here but it was still a marvelous day yesterday.  Fridge is loaded with all sorts of good things to keep snacking on, but a lot of long walks in my future to unload those pounds of good food.  Ah well.  that is how it goes, here today, gone in several weeks of hard work.

Just glad to be here  and able to participate.

Hope the President and first family had a good Christmas as well.

    Jackie

What can be better than seeing two beautiful little boys wallowing in acres of Christmas wrapping paper?  Just gorgeous Blue, and you look beautiful too!

This isn't the kind of ice you can just shake off the tree.  I tried shaking it off my clothesline the other day and there was nothing doing. Playing with these things just makes them want to break. Here's the hedge at the side of my driveway. It has been like this since Sunday. Our power went off for a couple of hours this afternoon and I can't imagine being the people whose power has been off for days.

Sorry - it doesn't want to go any smaller. I asked it to.

Lassie - I've NEVER seen ice that thick - truly amazing!  Wonder what's going to happen to all those bushes?

Wow. You got a a lot more ice build up than we did!  Ours is just mostly pretty.  If we don't get warmer temperatures (unlikely) then the ice will gradually sublimate.  If we get wind or more freezing rain those bushes will likely break.  It's nature's way of giving the trees a trim but it can be devastating.

Blue ... love the pictures of Philip and George ... they are so adorable.  I remember Luke at those ages at Christmas, it was always so much fun.  You look really great too!  Your hair has really grown since the last time I saw you.  It looks pretty.

Sunnyflowers ... you made me laugh.  That ice won't shake off.  It was beautiful here today ... low 50's and lots of sunshine!

Lassie and Kay ... glad you have power .. hope the sun comes out and starts to melt some of that ice.  My little stream is covered in ice too.  Just a shame it's not big enough to skate on!

    hugs,

Lassie...I think that is the "heaviest" ice I've ever seen.  I hope you have no major problems from all of this and definitely hope that you don't lose your power.  How awful.....I went to look at what other ice storms might look like and found this picture.  Wow  is all I can say.

That looks like the Apocolypse, rather than just an ice storm, Jackie!

On the hierarchy of weather, ice is right up there, even worse than snow (I've had almost 40 years of the white stuff).  Bring out the Yaks!
