I am also going to church. I spend time with family. Also I am doing Meetup.com. I have joined a few groups and so far have gone to the movies, attended seminars in person and online. I am meeting nice people and distracting myself.

Hello!  I am new to this forum but I hope to make some real connections with people who "get me"!  As for fun...hmmmm.....I really enjoy playing Words With Friends on my Iphone, spending as much time with my grand daughters as I can and traveling.  I try to NOT think of certain things and live in the moment as much as possible.

Finally got my health insurance straightened out, (boy was that scary). Have finished most of my Christmas shopping, thank goodness for a ds who didn't mind waiting in line on thanksgiving for tvs and a dh who loves to shop at home depot on black Friday, so I really didn't have to do anything but the fun shopping for gs, now I just have to stop..Gs is so much fun to shop for. Now I just have a bunch of cookies to bake for gifts and I'll be done. Yippee!!!!

I'm really enjoying the Christmas season this year. My son and his wife will be staying with us for almost two weeks, and my daughter will be here for Christmas Eve and morning. It promises to be a very happy holiday. I love our tree this year. I tried to post a picture last night, but I haven't figured out how to do that completely.

Today I have jury duty and really hope I don't get on a case. I'm grateful that I feel well enough to serve- but I'd really rather not! I'll work on my Christmas card list :)

I'm with you Sandilee - I'm truly enjoying every day of Christmas whether I do something to decorate my home, shop or just listen to Christmas music. I know in years past I've felt Christmas whizzed by and I never really enjoyed the season, but this year and all future years I am stopping to smell the pine trees.

I'm packing today, as I have to work this week and have appointments and a few other commitments after school. I feel like a very ill, old lady when I look at my "drug" stash. Presciption meds are in original bottles but I've carefully counted out my supplements and put them in individual snack size , labeled baggies. It really looks as if I'm either a hypochondriac or very, very sick. I'm packing in one reasonably sized suitcase and a carry on, as storage is limited in the stateroom. I do hate packing, but this is so exciting!

Had to have a piece of paper to take notes for this post as I have missed quite much..

Ok, Caryn having just watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy for the hundredth time, I am very excited for your trip to NZ myself!!! Enjoy each second of it & yes pictures:)

AmyQ reunions are fun indeed..you are a lucky girl to have seen & chat with your high school crush ha ha :) Does your DH have the details of the night, I wonder???

DivineMrsM, preparing playlists on itunes & even making slideshows with my favourite photos is one of my favourite hobbies..you had some great time with it I am sure & it is much easier doing everything online these days.. I remember in my teen years we recorded everything in cassette players ha ha :)) seems so long ago, technology has evolved so much.

CarolinaChristy55 welcome aboard! I play Wordswith Friends with some of the sisters here & happily get beaten up :) most of the time. So, you can find me by my nickname whenever you want.

Tina, dearest Tina, congratulations my dear! I am so happy for your great news of marriage.. any pictures of the event to share?? You know I am a pic-gal ha ha :)

Sandilee & Lynn1234, today we decorated our Christmas tree with my DS. Being Muslim, we love to share the celebrating part of anything.. as we happily share the one God we believe in. :) Children are the greatest gift of life to us..sharing time with them compares to nothing else.. the activity of decoration took it's toll on me already so tired & bones aching..but definitely worth it. The big smile on my DS' face & 3 tramadol 100mg helped recover quickly.

Leah & Caryn and everyone else Jewish , happy belated Chanukah btw. I was told once singing has healing effect, which encouraged me (along with the mood meds) to sing out loud now whenever I have the chance as much as my lungs allow me to :)

Thea, where is the rest of the mouse story??

Jill, quite a dancer you are! Thanks for the video, dear.

Glenna, any more details / pictures on the Ohio trip?

Marywh, congratulations! Please share some photos of your DS' wedding, especially your DH's boots!!

Susan, forgive my ignorance, what is game5? :)

Rangermom, I bet you already have your grandson in your arms by now. Hope the delivery went OK and your DD & baby are doing great. Pictures!!!!!

In short, I am asking pictures from all of you… Hope I didn't miss out anyone :)

Me? Just returned from a trip to southeast Turkiye where my parents are from.. DS enjoyed the trip so much & I was happy to have the energy throughout the journey..Will be loading some photos as soon as I transfer them from my phone to the computer, but gotta sleep now..

Just had to write this post first :)

    Missed you all..

    hugs & love

Dd and I took gs to see Santa Friday, it was so much fun. He asked for a million things and was such a sweet boy on Santas lap. Of course nothing he asked for was anything that dd and I knew about, but he will be happy just the same...She still has toys from last year he hasn't gotten into yet. Being the only grandchild, I would say hes just a touch spoiled....

So glad you're posting. It's great to "hear" you sounding so cheery and energetic. I'm glad you and your family had a satisfying trip. And I'm tickled that you have a Christmas tree. Enjoy!

    Ebru,

To answer your question "AmyQ reunions are fun indeed..you are a lucky girl to have seen & chat with your high school crush ha ha :) Does your DH have the details of the night, I wonder???" My DH was there and let me indulge myself. Afterall, I endured a similar scenerio 10 years ago when his ex-girlfriend (high school) invited him to her hotel room after the reunion. Although I never went that far nor would I...too funny!

I wanted to add that my Christmas tree is up and finally decorated. I bought a hybrid that smells terrific and is suppose to keep its needles longer. I asked my son to string the lights, a job I hate, and I did the rest. My home is ready for Christmas, even though I won't be entertaining friends or family this year. Even so, I love to enjoy Christmas, if only for myself since my husband is Jewish. He's such a good sport! I do hope that all of you who celebrate Christmas are able to enjoy your family traditions or make new ones.

Some of my daughter's favorite memories of Christmas are: 1. Going to a tree farm with her Dad and picking and cutting down the tree, 2. My father's pancakes on Christmas morning. So I offered that this year, she with her partner could get the tree. Though they had planned to head 2 hours north to cut the tree at the same spot that she used to go with her Dad, they ended up at a closer location. This allowed her to continue the tradition with the man who makes her happy now. They were SO proud of the tree that they picked, arriving home with such joy it was infectious! This is our first Christmas without my Dad and we have decided that we won't recreate his pancakes. Oh dear, I have moved to the sad instead of fun.... but sometimes, these moments have a bit of both.

The tree is "fluffing" in the basement and will move to the first floor this week. I will put on some nuns singing carols and decorate it then.

    Hi Ladies,

Just back from the dentist and the broken baby tooth is all patched up without any invasive work. Since the root and nerve are basically gone, there was no pain! I am mostly packed and ready to go. The whole group is meeting for dinner tonight and the first two leave tomorrow. By Sunday, everyone will be in Auckland and we sail on Monday. I hear the ship will be beautifully decorated for Christmas and even though we're all Jewish, who doesn't love pretty lights, tinsel and greenery? Five hours from here to Honolulu and then nine and a half more to Auckland, but I am so excited that even that doesn't bother me. Still have a lot to get done but I wanted to wish everyone a very happy holiday season and peaceful New a Year.

    Caryn,

Have an absolutely brilliant trip! It is my sincerest wish that you, and all the family, will just have the very best time. Sparkly stuff on trees; very pretty. Throw in a few bows, and you have something pretty, and not remotely religious!

Can't wait to see your pictures.

love hearing everyone's plans for fun during this Christmas/Hanukkah season.  May you all enjoy family gatherings, socializing with friends, and the traditions you hold dear.  I am ready, unbelievably, for Christmas.  My DH and I are going to the beach tomorrow for r & r.  He is recovering from a quadruple bypass the day before thanksgiving and I am on a chemo break due to low counts.  We will come home on the 23rd to celebrate with our children and grandchildren.  I am taking our oldest grandson to California on the 26th to see his dad and, of course, go to disneyland.  Caryn, enjoy New Zealand.  Awesome!!

Love hearing about all the fun everyone is having.  I just got back from delivering secret santa gifts for the 6th day of Christmas.  A friend and I picked 4 people that we thought needed a little cheering and fun this holiday season and we leave a gift at their front door each evening for 12 nights.  I think my 92 yr old neighbor has figured me out already, but the others seem to be still guessing, so far!

Wow, the last several posts were fun to read with my second cup of coffee this morning.

Susan, your story about letting "the kids" get the tree made me tear up, particularly in how you related their delight.

Caryn, "Bon voyage!" for what promises to be a memorable sojourn in a magical place.

Glenna, you certainly get around. Here's to travel! California with grandkids--even better!

Romansma, what a lovely thing to do, and for twelve nights! Beautiful.

As for me, today starts with an appointment with our lawyer to go over our powers of attorney, advance directives and wills. Cheery stuff, eh? Ugh. However, a friend has invited us to a holiday tea mid-afternoon, so that will alleviate any gloom. Speaking of tea, I see a lot of theater and not many movies, but I'm eager to check out "Saving Mr. Banks."

Wishing you all a happy, merry, cheerful holiday season filled with things you love - family, friends, food, a fire and a good book, music, memories...

Romansma - I love the secret Santa surprises you are offering to brighten some days. I'm going to introduce this practice as a new tradition for my family.

Caryn - How fantastic it is that you are taking this trip.  My DH says NZ is one of the most beautiful places he's ever been, and he's been to a few.  Have a great time!

Ebru and DivineMrsM - Have fun with your playlists and share your current favorite tune so I can add some new ones to mine.  Check out Lake Street Dive on YouTube, singing "I Want you Back"

I just watched The Zen of Bennett (about an 85 yr old Tony Bennett) on Netflix.  Great film - wonderful, creative, gentle, kind man.  I recommend it, even to you young ones.  He does duets with Amy Winehouse, Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, etc.

Ah, Tina, I've been working on my will, advance directive and trusts this week too.  Planning the memorial too!  I don't want my family to have to deal with any of it and I won't have to fret about it once it's done.

Back to the fun!  I love to cook.  I'm making some homemade chicken soup for a friend that just had knee surgery and will take it by and have lunch with him today.  Makes me feel good that I can still help others.  I hope I am able for as long as possible!

A quick hello and happy New Year to all. I am in Dunedin, NZ. New Zealand is gorgeous and I considered jumping ship in Akaroa but my family pointed out that they would not join me, so I relented. We will be at sea for the next thee day, including Fjiordlands National Park, and then it's off to Tasmania. Hope everyone is as well as can be.

Hope you had a great time in Dunedin exbrngrl. Sadly the weather has been appalling for summer. Akaroa is beautiful. Fiordland is amazing and prob even better seeing it from the sea. Hopefully the rain will make beautiful waterfalls but have stopped and moved away so you can see some scenery.
