I would love to gain access to the picture forum... I have been on here since July of this year when I was diagnosed with dcis. At the time we had no idea how big it was because the ultrasound and MRI revealed a large lump and 3 lymph nodes. We thought it could be invasive and spreading. After a double mast. we found out I had 2.5 cm of dcis encased in 6 or 7 cm of fibrocystic breast tissue and micro calcifications. Still I would not change my decision if I had to do it over. Right now I'm currently in the expansion process. At first I was obsessed with wanting to look natural and modest but I have come to realize breast implants will never look natural and in order for me to get the result I want I have to go much bigger than I ever planned to. Having no nipple and what feels like 1/3 of the front of my breast is missing makes a huge difference. I really feel like I'm going crazy wanting to get this right the first time. I keep telling my plastic surgeon to add a few more fills. I try to find pics online with breast reconstructions with my height and weight but they are far and few between and most of them leave out important details like ccs and what kind of implant they used. Please let me have access. I would love to see people who can help give me hope that this will turn out good in the end. -
peachygirl,
Please read the very first post on this thread, regarding access to the picture forum. You need to pm nowheregirl to request access. -
Hi all
Can you tell me who I send my photos to? I was not given access to see how others did the photos and I understand why. I am a plus size lady about to do delayed reconstruction (2 1/2 years post BMX) on Nov 8, I have not been able to find many photos of delayed recon on a plus size person showing the Tissue Expanders as they fill and then the inplants.
If there is instructions somewhere on how to send the photos can you point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Kathy

Kathy,
Go back and read the first post on this thread. The picture forum is not part of bco and before you can post photos you need to be given access to the forum. -
Hi
I did send a PM but as I never got a reply I am guessing I am too new to get access.
Kathy
-
Kathy,
Yes, the women who run the picture forum want to see a lot of posts on here first. -
I was not too bothered not to have access, although i would be nice to see the results some people have been able to get. I was just looking for info on who to send photos to if I wanted to add my own.Kathy
-
The only way to add pictures is to have an account at the forum. -
Ok Thank you for your help..
Kathy
-
i am a member, but cannot see how to get the pics? all i can see is posts. -
alibeths,
Please read the FIRST post on this thread to find out about how to get access to the picture forum. It is not part of BCO ! It is run, voluntarily, by some bco members. -
So If you follow the instructions on 1st post and get no reply does that mean you have not been accepted. I don't know if my request was received or not, I am just guessing that as I have not had a reply that I am not getting access to add my photos.
Very confusing.
Kathy -
Kathy,
If you send a request and they feel you haven't posted enough here, they will not reply. Just ask for access after you have been here for a while. When they accept you, they will send a questionnaire and then give you access, giving you login info and the web address.
Allbeths, you have access to the picture forum? I know its confusing. Click on Under Construction women only. Then click on a thread. -
It's also good to remember that those maintaining the picture forum are doing do as volunteers and like us, had/have bc. There may be times when their real lives don't allow them to keep it up 24/7. Be patient! -
They do a marvelous job. Given that they to are on this journey. I may well just be brave and post the photos in the reconstruction forum, I will see if my DH can take the photos without my face being visible. I just know how little there is out there from plus size ladies in the way of photos. I have never been able to come to terms with the fact if I go flat I look like I am 8 months pregnant. My chest area is so concaved that I could not wear anything that did not come up to my neck, if I did even with prosthetic boobs I still have big dips just under my collar bones and if I leant forward you could see all the way down to my belly button .

Rosebuds -- I sent you a private message.
To others reading here, if interested in becoming a member of our Picture Forum -- a separate site that is NOT on BCO -- please have been a member here for awhile with a record of sharing via posts (or become one
and then send a message to me or to Nowheregirl.
Thanks,
Lilah
Edited to add: ... and Bdavis thank you so much for being here and gently reminding posters what they need to do

Hi Nowhere Girl,
I just had a TE put in my left breast and a lift done on my right breast so I won't end of with one breast up and one down. I am uncomfortable and find it hard to sleep, so I'd like some reassurance that the outcome will make this all worth while. I also have questions about nipple replacement and tattooing, so pics would really help! Thanks so much for organizing this picture forum.

Anika,
Please read the first post. You have to pm nowheregirl or lilah to request access to the picture forum. Also please read lilah's post, right above yours. -
I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and had mastectomy of my left breast in 2007, followed by CMF chemotherapy. I was on tamoxifen for 5 years and in Feb 2013 started my second 5 year treatment with tamoxifen. I met with a plastic surgeon last week and on 12/11/2013 will meet with a breast surgeon to plan a prophylactic mastectomy of the right breast. The big decision for me is whether to have a reconstruction. The PS told me that because of prior abdominal surgeries (C-section and hysterectomy) I should consider only reconstruction with implants. I was hoping to read how other women feel after bilateral mastectomy without reconstruction. Also after bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction with implants do women have too many issues - tightness in the chest, restrictions in the movement of the arms, etc. I need to make up my mind by my 12/11/2013 appointment.

Strawberry, with one post you won't be able to get access to the picture forum - if you read the first post in this thread, the rules and process are explained.
However, within this discussion board there is a lot of discussion about mastectomies, both with implant reconstruction and without. If you scan the list of topics here in the Breast Reconstruction Forum, you will find lots of discussion about implant reconstruction. And also take a look at this other forum Living Without Reconstruction After a Mastectomy to get an idea about what it's like to have a MX without reconstruction.
Good luck with your decision! -
Strawberry... I would consult with a second PS... I had a C section and had DIEP flap, as have many women... -
I guess I don't qualify - story of my life. Whippet mom, I would have sent you my photos but I don't have any. And If I did I don't know how to put them on the computer. Sorry. -
Hi, I have a few pictures I took when I had my Nipple sparing surgery back in March 2013. My pictures are only of the breast area with the scars , I had 360cc in the TE at the time of surgery, then added 60cc every 2 weeks total of 600cc, then had Rad in June, I will have my exchange surgery in Dec 24, 2013. I am not a member of the photo Forum but if it is ok I can send the pictures by PM and the administrator can post them Saying its form anonymous member? I just wanted people to have an idea of this type of surgery, not many woman are offer this surgery but it is available. I am Very happy with the surgery so far, Off course I am sick of the TE lol but I am almost at the end now, I am very excited waiting to get rid of the TE.
Thanks and let me know.
Take care
I dont really want access to the forum since my surgery is different than the surgeries you all have. I attended a Breast awareness event in Toronto where there were at least 14 ladies top less able to share with us their experience and not one had a NSBMX. I may offer to be a model for next year, I really think this type of surgery should be more accessible to us. -
nowhere girl
Hello I am asking permission to see the photos. I am having TE 's placed on Wed and have no idea about sizing. my PS didn't explain sizing to me and I would like to see other ladies results. I already Have given whippetmom my stats , she says 700 - 800cc. I wanted to see some photos of women with similar size implants. Thank you for doing this for us it is amazing what I have learned from these boards.. -
2ndtime4me, please read the very first post on the first page of this discussion thread - the post under the main title post that was deleted. It explains the process for getting access. You need to send a private message, not request access from here. -
I've been on here since August and have posted many times. I requested to be on the picture forum and while I got a reply back that they got my request, I've yet to be approved access. -
cjc1961,
Please remember that the picture forum is not part of bco. It is a privately run forum , run voluntarily by nowheregirl and lilah. They do this on their own time. Please be patient and send one of them a pm again. -
Hi Everyone -
I am joining this thread and will be requesting access privately. I just had my TEs placed and will have many decisions to make over the next few months. There is much to learn and I appreciate all the help I can get. -
What a great idea. Wish I had known about this before reconcstruction surgery. Just had reconstruction a couple a months ago and still curious to know if my results are normal. I admire all you ladies for sharing your stories.
-
I am finding the picture forum helpful as I will need to decide on implants. I am also hoping to help others as I am being helped.
