    Pope Francis is a man of compassion and love. So, of course, that means the right-wing hates his guts. At long last, the queen bee of the Tea Party herself, Sarah Palin, decided to comment on the new pontiff. And she is “taken aback” by his Christian values.

    Sarah Palin is concerned about Pope Francis following the teachings of Jesus.


    During an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN, Palin expressed concern with how Pope Francis has been leading the Catholic Church. Apparently, practicing the teachings of Jesus is too much for her to digest.


    “He’s had some statements that to me sound kind of liberal, has taken me aback, has kind of surprised me,” the Alaskan quitter said.


    Palin also took the opportunity to bash the media and accused them of misleading people about Pope Francis.


    “There again, unless I really dig deep into what his messaging is, and do my own homework, I’m not going to just trust what I hear in the media,” Palin remarked.

    Pope Francis is the total opposite of that of right-wing Christians like Sarah Palin. Unlike Palin, Pope Francis is a strong advocate for the poor. He has called upon the people of the world to stop being hateful towards gay people. He is an opponent of income inequality who has called out “savage capitalism.” He has shown compassion for the sick and respect for people who practice other faiths. And he has criticized those on the right-wing who are ideologically obsessed. One couldn’t ask for a better representative of true Christian values.

    Sarah Palin is against everything Jesus is about.


    When Sarah Palin aims vitriol at Pope Francis, she’s attacking the teachings of Jesus. That “liberal agenda” the pontiff is being criticized for is what Jesus practiced during his life according to the very Bible that Palin claims to have read.


    Jesus healed the sick and fed the poor. He urged people to love their neighbors and he criticized capitalistic greed. Jesus even had respect for non-believers.


    Sarah Palin, on the other hand, has nothing but contempt for the poor and the sick. She adamantly opposes Obamacare, which offers accessible health insurance coverage to millions of Americans who couldn’t afford it before. This is hypocritical considering Palin has crossed into Canada to get free medical care. She also opposes food stamp programs that feed millions of hungry Americans, including children and military veterans. Palin is also rabidly anti-gay and anti-nonbeliever. This hatred of the sick, the poor, gays, and non-believers runs in complete contrast to what Jesus preached. And that’s just a damn shame considering Palin is whining about how Jesus isn’t focused on enough at Christmas time.

    Christian? Sarah Palin doesn’t know the meaning of the word.


    If Palin were to actually read her Bible and pay close attention to Pope Francis, perhaps she’d understand true Christian values. Then again, we shouldn’t expect much from someone who hijacks a peaceful march by veterans to use them in an effort to line her pockets with more book profits. We certainly shouldn’t expect it from someone who thinks it’s funny when a diabetic pregnant woman passes out. Honestly, can any of us really see Sarah Palin holding and comforting a severely disfigured man with a rare disease, like the Pope did recently, when she can’t even have empathy for a pregnant woman with diabetes?


    Make no mistake, Palin hates everything Jesus stands for. That’s why she’s “taken aback” by Pope Francis. Only one individual in this trio would take food, money, and health care from a sick poor person. Hint: it’s not Pope Francis or Jesus.

    Ok....gone all day and busy as a one-armed paper-hanger.....no offense to anyone who really might be. My dad did that for a living for many years...learned the art and craft of it after his military service through a school they provided. He was excellent.....his standards and habits secured for him a great deal of work from a local very beloved Dr. and later on.......he was hired as a stock manager at a new Kreske's store that opened here based solely on how diligent he was in painting and wallpapering the house of the new Manager of that store.


    Anyway......I thought I would fall out of my chair several times with your recipe Blue....but like RR I think it sounds delicious. Your pictures as always stunning....and I loved the two puppies.


    Another long day of Repugs denouncing everything that is worthwhile ( much like air-head Palin ) about the ACA and by default the President. This little story says quite a bit about Ins. Even the so-called 'smarter' people don't have a freakin' clue about Insurance http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/11/12/1255096/-GOP-senator-discovers-socialized-medicine-covers-his-hospital-bills-and-lives-to-tell-the-tale and yet without giving it a chance are doing all they can to nullify and get rid of it. I think this Senator should have to GIVE his Insurance to one of the poor people that he is trying to deny.

    Why does a nitwit like that twit even have an opinion on a pope??? The popes catholic.....SHES NOT!


    For me it was like being back in catholic high school and we went from John XXIII. (Very Francis I remember unless my brain is dead) to the Borgias for these last (gulp) 40 some years.


    The "Borgia" behavior drove me out of the church. "Easter Sunday....why haven't you donated enough money for our stained windows? We need $50k per window! ". Last time I ever went to church.


    My last credential, I was sent by my dysfunctional parents to live for 2 years at a catholic home for girls when I was twelve so I got more than my share of indoctrination. 24/7 Mass every morning. Evil Sister Columba. Told me I was doomed because she found my diary and GASP, I had kissed a boy!


    Ok I'm rambling. Seriously this brain stuff has stirred up all sorts of philosophical meanderings about who and what I am and where I've been in my 62 years. It's an interesting journey these last couple weeks.

    I wish there was a test on "How much do you know about Obamacare and health insurance in general" cause I'm sure a lot of people (cough, cough) would fail it. Do they really think Obamacare is an insurance policy that has doctor's on IT'S network? Do they not understand risk pools vis a vis maternity care? I wonder how they'd do on your test notself!

    I was wondering whether Cheney ripped someone's heart out with his bare hands while Liz held the victim down. Would explain why he doesn't think about the donor.

    Years ago I read about the Chinese government executing young, healthy prisoners, found guilty of, often, minor crimes, then harvesting their organs to sell to rich foreigners. They would be careful to shoot the prisoner in the head and not damage the sought for organ(s). The government made a ton of money on rich people who either weren't eligible for transplants or didn't want to wait in line. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Cheney did something like this. Would definitely explain his reluctance to know and discuss his donor.

    Interesting quizzes. I got 96% on the News Quiz (not bad for a Canuck, huh?!) and my computer froze midway through the second.


    I just read an interview with Rumsfeld. No way will he and Chaney ever, ever admit that maybe, just maybe, they made a few mistakes during the Bush years. It's refreshing to currently have a President who cares enough about the American people to apologize for the glitch-filled ACA roll-out. Of course, the media make him look weak for doing so. I say it makes him look like a strong leader with integrity.

    Yorkie - I thought about that possibility with Cheney too. I think, more likely, he was just given special treatment. Maybe a large donation? :) I remember there was bruhaha over him even getting a transplant at age 71 and his state of health. He is, apparently, in a small group who are at that age who have gotten one.

    It is concerning that a 71-year-old got a transplant. Many of those who manage to even make the waiting list for hearts die without getting one. More than 3,100 Americans are currently on the national waiting list for a heart transplant. Just over 2,300 heart transplants were performed last year, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing. And 330 people died while waiting.


    According to UNOS, 332 people over age 65 received a heart transplant last year. The majority of transplants occur in 50- to 64-year-olds.


    Most transplant teams, knowing that hearts are in huge demand, set an informal eligibility limit of 70.


    Cheney is not the first person over 70 to get a heart transplant. He is, however, in a small group of people who have gotten one. Why did he?
