zaps done. Weaning off the steroids. Lots of fatigue and excuses for naps.

Now it's back to scans. They gonna light me up like a Christmas tree! Start Friday Bone scan, CT, and in a week or so another brain MRI to see if they left me smarter or weirder.

Chickadee, you sure sound as Kay puts it, "cognitively intact" to me. I hope your scans show good results.

Kay, that is one scary looking smiley. <This one is too.

LMAO!! A very long, torturous death.

ETA: Chickadee, judging from your posts, I would say you definitely have plenty of smarts. The channeling Jesus thing cracked me up. My partner and I are amazed about Pope Francis. Light years better and more compassionate than Pope Prada.

Oh, Chicky - so glad to see you and in great form! Sending good vibes for your scans!

Methinks that the Tundra Tart's opinion on Pope Francis is of the same value as every other one of her pronouncements - nil. One of my favorite political columnists, Charles P. Pierce, calls her a bag of hair. 'Bout right, I'd say.

Re: WebMD article in the Washington Times (can't even type that without gagging) - OMG OMGOMGOMGOMGTHESKYISFALLINGOMGOMGOMG ... Wow. A company submitted a proposal to HHS in response to an RFP (Request for Proposal) and won a contract to provide education and outreach to doctors on the Affordable Care Act. STOP THE PRESSES, HAVE A CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION THAT THERE ARE CONTRACTS OUT THERE!!!!!!OMGOMGOMGOMG -- THE REPUBLIC IS IN DANGER. Yeah. Not. BFD. Since the slime mold (sorry, slime mold) passing itself off as Republican legislators (again, gagging as I type that complete oxymoron "Republican legislators") kept defunding outreach efforts for the Affordable Care Act, HHS had to do whatever it could, find change in the couch cushions and under the car seats, to fund some outreach efforts so people would know about a law that would mean they wouldn't have to go bankrupt to pay for medical care or allow symptoms to grow into fatal illness because they couldn't afford doctors or tests. Oh, the viciousness of a President who wants his nation to have healthy people. How awful ... What should we do! Impeach him!

Yeah. Boycott WebMD. I'm sure they'll has a sad. While you're at it, boycott CVS, RiteAid and Walgreens, too, because they are also partnering with HHS on outreach. And if your doctor is in favor of the ACA, find one who isn't ... I'm sure you'll get GREEAAAAAAAAT treatment from a doctor who thinks that people shouldn't have access to affordable health insurance and health care.

That's my morning rant from Cancun. Snark off/.

    Blast Off Libby! Well said.

Adding to how the Rethugs are aiding the ACA into failure, yesterday the Congressional hearings on ACA required one particular Software Engineer, a renowed expert in his field, to leave his duties (fixing the website), including time to prepare for the hearing, in order for that used car salesman, creator of fake scandals, Daryl Issa, to create more havoc and delay.

I'm just disgusted with the Repugs non-stop attempts to sabotage all Americans getting health insurance.

So, Satan Cheney has no interest in his heart donor. "I think of it as my new heart, not someone else's old heart." Every time he opens his muzzle, he reveals that he is a complete sociopath.

I don't know...I tend to agree with this part of the article:

Or could it be compassion? For a lot of people, the tragedy of a family member dying would be compounded, not lessened, by learning that their heart went to Cheney.

Still, he did show his true colors. Heard his daughter Lizzy is 50 pts behind Senator Enzi in Wyoming. Small blessings there.

Oh, chick, so good to see you posting. Love your channeling Jesus remark!! I haven't had brain zaps and could never have come up with that! I appreciate so much the discourse that goes in here. When I don't have time for the news I know I can come here and catch up on the political garbage. Loved Obama's heartfelt press conference today. He is such a compassionate man. I live our president!!

I agree that many families would be devastated knowing their loved one's heart went to save a monster. If he hadn't said "I think of it as my new heart, not someone else's old heart," I might consider the compassion question. But not given what he said .... It isn't compassion. It is that he thinks it is his just due - he needed a heart and he got one. He didn't care from whom it might have come - it is his heart now. It was his heart all along because he needed it. Ugh.

Chickadee - so glad the zaps are done. Empathy with the weaning off steroids - my onc's described to me, why the first days after steroids in each of my chemo cycles were so bad, and that was only taking them for a few days. It's gotta be so so SO much harder with you, docs told me the adrenals shut down, cuz there's so much "juice" in your body- and takes them a while to "wake up" and start producing again. SO, weaning is good, the stopping cold, whew, still remember what those crash days felt like.

All digits crossed for your scans.

Now, you women are THE best: Tundra Tart, Pope Prada ( spilt tea over that one, global) really - gotta start writing these down. I do admire much about what the new Pope is doing, and I'm gobsmacked at myself liking a Pope?? He seems like such a gentle warm soul.

MA is busy trying to get legislation passed to make it necessary for GMO food to be labelled. Connecticut and Maine have passed it, and Conn. doesn't go into effect unless another state does. So much interstate traffic of goods in this area, really would be impossible to enforce state by state. Some friends in Boston this am working on it. GMA ( grocery manufacturers of america) are pouring in money to fight it, just like they did in Washington State. Imagine, the nerve of people wanting to know what is in the food they're eating. Wow.

    Its been too long!

    Thug Kitchen

GET THAT SOUPY GREEN BEAN SHIT OUTTA HERE. C’mon, anybody showing up with that casserole from a can didn’t even fucking try. How about something much tastier that packs some actual nutrition in it? Bring this bastard to Thanksgiving and nobody is going to ask you to do the goddamn dishes.

ROASTED BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH QUINOA AND CRANBERRIES

1 ½ pounds of brussels sprouts

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1 cup quinoa

    1 ¾ cup water

    pinch of salt

    1/3 cup toasted almonds

1/3 cup dried cranberries (if you can’t find any, don’t fucking sweat it)

    ¼ cup chopped parsley

    1/8 teaspoon of salt

    pepper to taste

    DRESSING:

    2-3 cloves of garlic

2 ½ tablespoons red wine vinegar

2 tablespoons lemon juice (about 1 lemon)

    2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

    1 teaspoon olive oil

Heat the oven up to 400 degrees. Tear off any fucked up lookin leaves on the brussels sprouts and chop them into quarters (or halves if they are little). Toss them with a tablespoon of olive oil and spread them out on a baking sheet. Roast those sons of bitches for 20 minutes, stirring half way, or until the sprouts are golden and kinda burnt in some places. Goddamn delicious. Just trust. Boiling these tiny cabbage-looking motherfuckers is a crime. ROAST OR GTFO.

While that shit is going down, rinse the quinoa with some water so that it isn’t bitter when you cook it (yeah, you’re fucking welcome). Throw it in a medium pot with the water and pinch of salt and bring it to a boil over a medium heat. Turn the heat down to a simmer, cover that shit, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes or until all the water is gone and the quinoa is tender. Turn off the heat. Chop up the garlic all small and throw it in a small glass with the rest of the ingredients for the dressing and mix well.

When the sprouts are done, toss them in a bowl with the cooked quinoa and the dressing. Mix that shit so that everything is coated real well. Add the almonds, cranberries, parsley, salt, and pepper and mix again. Taste it and see if you need more salt or pepper or whatthefuckever you think is missing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Serves 4-6 as a side, double that shit and bring it to Thanksgiving if you feel like being a popular motherfucker

Sunflowers - I'll never forget those godawful red Prada shoes. Not only were they ugly, I thought about how hypocritical it was. They take a vow of poverty, and there he was sporting Prada. Ugh. That's what I love about Pope Francis. Simple and humble.

Speaking of the Pope and popish stuff -- I'm wondering how much the Vatican is sending to aid its largely Catholic flock in the Philippines who have lost everything......yes, just wondering. Maybe selling a couple of priceless treasures in the Pope's palace would go a long, long way....
