Hah! I didn't even have to go up to the tool-bar! All I did was "copy" this picture, and come here, and hit "paste!"
BUT AOL will not do this.... I had to go to my Google Chrome, and then to BC.ORG, and then copy this picture, bring it here, and hit paste!
I didn't even go to the picture icon on on the tool-bar!
AND with Chrome, I have that spell check feature! Yowsers! (well, THAT was spelled wrong, but I don't care!) -
As you probably know, all macs that were built and/or shipped after July 9th, 2012 have this operating system installed, so anyone who bought a computer after this time, and was subsequently diagnosed with breast cancer can not access this live resource. I really hope that the "powers-that-be" consider some of the more modern options to keep this chat active.

I get frustrated with this site because i have to login about 10 to 20 times before my login goes through. -
I still don't have the toolbar, but I can still post.
>>>I guess that's a good thing....
>>>I'll try for paragraphs again.
>>>ETA: No paragraphs. >>>What I miss the most from the toolbar is the Italics & BOLD. -
I never did have a tool bar with the iPad or the smart phone until this upgrade. The only thing I couldn't do was post pics from them. I'm loving being able to do it all even from my smallest device! Thanks Mods! -
I HAVE A TOOL BR. No spell check and having trouble posting pictures. Somehow I inserted the one below from my own computer but have't figured how to get one from the web.
-
Chabba to get a picture from the web just go to our home page...............it should have the word in ( I hope ) the rt. hand corner area IMAGES. Click on it and then go down into the address bar and ask for whatever kind of pictures you want......like, butterflies. When they come up, choose the one you want, click on it and a box will come up with a list of choices.............hit copy. Then zoom over to where you want to insert it................and insert if with your tool-bar.

It worked! now for spell check!
-
chabba, the happy dancing Snoopy is so appropriate!
The tech wizards launched a change to the rich text editor today so that members using Internet Explorer 7, 8 and 9 would be able to access more of the posting features. There's still more on our list, but it's a good start. -
Thanks! -
Yes, Mods, it's a good start.
I have my toolbar tho nothing on it works. No spell check, but never used that anyway. I do miss my BOLD & Italic.....
At least I can make paragraphs.
No more Error on Page anymore.
-
I don't think the spell-check is on the tool-bar as such --- at least in a seeable icon. A little red line appears under miss-spelled words ( assuming it works and it seems to for most ) and you then can click on the word and get a spelling menu. I actually like it that way as the older tool-bar spell checker had more steps -- not hard ones, but frustrating when my computer would ding because I had not removed it properly after I used it.
Also, there are things to do in order for the tool-bar to be used. It has come to be easier for me than I thought since I came to computers late and basically taught myself the hard way --- by hunt and peck and trying to recall what I actually did to get good results.
I hope in a very short while.....you will find everything working well and. I have more things to figure out so it is going to be a little learning for all again . Progress does seem to start out slow now and then. Good Luck to you.

Stikk no spell check for me, as you can cee!
-
I am sorry to hear that......you may have to check and see if by using Google Chrome, or Firefox or one of those that it will actually get the tool-bar and other functions to operate correctly. I think the Mods might have a list of what will support or not support the current changes.
Jackie -
Well, we are certainly working on that, and so sorry that folks are still having issues! Our tech team has the list!! -

Hi Mods, I see a few changes under the hood. I can paste in text in full rich text mode but now I have to have that DANGED ajax.googleapis script running to even get my toolbar :-(((((((((( . OK, I know youre tweaking, but I hope eventually we're gonna see less of the google monster not more. Also hope for better security and privacy, the site will adopt https, and thus be encrypted.
1st Pik from from HDD and 2nd, from a website. -
In my previous post I misspelled several words intentionally for spell check to appear/work, that was how I knew I didn't have it. I know that there is no icon on the toolbar for spell-ck as was the previous way.And I will not switch to Chrome or any other browser in order to receive the tool-bar that I received before with no problems....
I personally think if changes are made, they should support older versions of computers as well as accomodating the newest products. Not everyone can afford the new stuff & must continue to use what they have.

Valjean, we understand your frustration. However, it's fairly common that online programs and websites often update and upgrade their versions to meet the new standards of browser and operating systems. There are security reasons for this, among other things, and also in order to update software to be more cutting edge, easier to use, and stay competitive. BCO always strives to make the experience in our Community as pleasant as possible for our members, and sometimes this includes upgrades. Unfortunately, it does come with some bumps and bruises along the way. A quick way to help avoid those bumps and bruises is to upgrade your browser (it's free!) to the latest version of the one you're using. We are sure your experience here will improve and you may even like it better!
Thanks everyone as always for your patience during our small transition.

When I post now, I don't have a tool bar to put in images or paste etc..nothing in this reply box at all. Am I doing something wrong? Had it up until now. Thanks. Also even though I separate paragraphs..it all comes submits into one long paragraph. Thank you.

Aruba, some members who use Internet Explorer have reported success in restoring their tool bars by going to the Tools menu in your IE and turning off the Compatability View setting. If this your configuration, can you please let us know what you are using?
We're sorry that you're having this problem! -
Six out of thirty of the posts on the main page right now are spam. That is 20%. I know you delete them quickly, but this is just awful. It happens multiple times during the day. It can't possibly give a new poster much confidence in the site. -
We have implemented a new spam removal system called Akismet, but we too are scratching our heads about why we still have so much. We are discussing this on Monday!
We agree with you Melissa!! -
will emotions also be discussed (puzzled face emotion)?
-
ruthbru, emoticons will most definitely be discussed! 😃
Fingers are crossed (there must be an emoticon for crossed fingers?) that everyone will be "smiling" this week, at least about emoticons.. -
Hi again,
you had requested more info on my issue with the tool bar from just a few messages above. See now that the tool bar is there when i enter via the internet explorer mozilla. But I had always had this site as a favorite on AOL and used it this way always. Now on AOL, there is no toolbar..but on Mozilla it is there. Wonder why the discrepency all of a sudden. Thanks for all you do!
-
Good to know, thanks Aruba! We'll pass along the info about AOL. -
I have the tool bar. Will I get sbell check too? -
chabba, when you're typing a post and you Right-Click in the text field (Control + Click on a Mac), do you get a menu with a Check Spelling option that has a check mark beside it? -
