Loved the video. As a mother of a daughter who was taken by cancer it really hit home. My dil actually woks at Sick Kids in Toronto making promos like that.

We decorate for the fall more than Halloween. We put out colourful mums, pumpkins, scarecrows and wreaths. Inside and out. I love this season.

Love and hugs to all for your support through my Ms Boo illness. (More on that after I say something.)

Our POTUS held firm, as did all of the Democrats. The POTUS did it for America and all future POTUS's so that they would not ever be blackmailed with shutdowns and debt ceilings - both having the potential to ruin our economy, or at least, set us back. Even for future Republican ones. He operates on principle and I love him for that.

I visited Ms Boo this morning. I would probably be there all day, but the Vet is 60 miles away. She has a feeding tube now. She ate a tiny bit for me and the Vet indicated she only eats when I'm there. So tonite I went back to see her, planning to stay as long as possible, though I was near falling asleep on the road and knew I'd be going again early tomorrow morning. She ate less for me tonite, BUT, despite the fluid that persists in her lungs and abdomen, she acted almost normal. It was my Boo, nudging and loving me. She almost has me convinced she is rallying, though I know her internal symptoms aren't quite there yet. I will leave tomorrow by 7am and spend the morning with her. Another good sign - without her Elizabethan collar, she started to groom herself. I didn't realize this was a no-no and soon her NG tube came out, so alas she was taken from me to reinstall that. I decided to leave earlier than planned, feeling much better. This morning her breathing was so thready, I just felt it was not going well. Tonite, I feel cautiously optimistic, but know cats are just hard to read sometimes. The Bartonella? and Pli test will come back Friday. That will eliminate 2 more possibilities, leaving me with bad things, but I will have hope as long as hope is alive.

So here is my wonderful story. When I got to Redding I had decided to grab a bite for dinner at Trader Joe's then on to TJ Max to buy a nice fleece blanket so Boo and I could sit on the floor together. While in line at TJ's, a women in front of me had this nice cat bed. She was so sweet and we spoke about our animals (she has 6 dogs and cats!) and how I dug her cat bed I would have gone back to get one, but in a hurry to see my kitty at the Vet - I was secretly hoping she would let me go before her in line, I felt so stressed to get there. I continued on to the Vet after my purchase and while in the room with my cat and Vet, the assistant walked in with THAT bed. That woman ran back and got that bed and delivered it to the Vet for me. What a sweet woman. I only wish I could thank her for that. People can be so wonderful...like all of you. xxo

Kam -- What a heartwarming story! Pet lovers are the BESTEST!!! Still keeping digits crossed for dear Ms Boo.

Now then, the party which claims it's the party of "fiscal responsibility" has just cost the American people $24 BILLION. Maybe not so much with an economy of some $17 trillion, but just imagine how much good that $24B could have done if used FOR the American people instead of against them.

People are absolutely and very genuinely caring Kam.

That actually makes it all the harder to go have to have just gone through what we all have in this country just now. The cruelty that the hard right displayed by turning their backs on every last person in America. But there are kind people who can walk up to a stranger and have total empathy. Those are the people that are truly the salt of the earth.........they don't turn their back on you -- they help you if they can.

What great karma that woman possesses.

A world full of healing vibes for Miss Boo and Cloe along with lots of love for both as well as their mistresses.

I just heard the Oregon Zoo has picked two names for each of the lion cubs. Now it is time for the public to vote on one of them. Athena was not among the choices. (insert sad face here). If you want to check out the cubs-one is Athena, in my eyes and heart- here is the site:

Chris Matthews Nails It: “It’s Hatred,” Not Politics Behind Strong GOP Opposition to President Obama

October 15, 2013 By Allen Clifton

Something I (as well as many other liberals) have been saying for years was plainly stated by Chris Matthews on the Rachel Maddow Show last night. Matthews didn’t hold back when he said it was “hatred,” not politics, that’s fueling such intense opposition to President Obama.

And it’s the truth. While Democrats and Republicans have always bickered, I’ve never seen such a level of vile hatred as I have since President Obama was elected in 2008. It’s just blind, unwavering disdain for a man many Republicans can’t even list five factual statements about.

Living in Texas, I can’t count the times I’ve heard negative comments against the president. Not intellectual comments based on some kind of factual information, but comments made from sheer ignorance and misinformation. And the kicker is, when you make these people aware that what they believe isn’t actually true—they simply don’t care.

It’s like a saying I’ve heard quite a few times since Barack Obama became president — “Republicans hate Obama more than they love America.” Now, it’s up for debate whether or not they actually love America. I maintain they love a version of the United States they wished existed but doesn’t—but that’s a topic for another article.

But I really do feel that these people hate President Obama to such an irrational level that they would rather see this country burn to the ground if it meant they got to oppose something he supports. They don’t care about facts or reality, they hate Obama.

And that’s all that seems to matter.

Oh, the government was shut down for a pointless reason? Who cares. We hate Obama.

The United States might default on its debt, causing possible economic catastrophe which might hurt the lives of millions of Americans? Who cares. We hate Obama.

Hell, I remember when we killed Osama bin Ladin — even at a point which should have been apolitical, many of them quickly went into “Obama deserves no credit” mode to oppose giving him any credit. Some basically said that since he didn’t pull the trigger, he didn’t deserve any credit for anything. Even at a point where our country finally got the most wanted man in the world, Republicans found a way to try to attack Obama.

I really feel that if President Obama ran into a burning building to save 25 orphans, Republicans would find a way to attack him for trying to put firefighters out of business, or some other asinine response.

Where does this hatred come from? Well, undoubtedly it comes from the fact that he’s half black. Sure, Republicans will fight tooth and nail to claim that his race has nothing to do with their hatred toward him, but they’re full of crap.

I live in Texas, I see the racism constantly. I can’t count how many times I’ve heard President Obama called some kind of derogatory name for African Americans. Now, I’m not saying all Republicans who oppose President Obama are racists, but I do believe a large part of the opposition to him (especially from the tea party) has to do with his race.

Another area where I think this blind hatred comes from is the right-wing media machine which specializes in creating irrational fear and paranoia about whatever they wish to attack. Republicans might not be good at many things, but they are masters at propaganda and pushing a simple, and consistent, message to their voters. If Fox News is pushing it, I can almost assuredly expect to see my Republicans friends repeating those same talking points very soon. Whatever the right-wing media tells them to think or do, they follow.

And that’s how we get to where we are now. Millions of Americans with such an intense hatred for one man that no amount of facts, reality, common sense or logic will change their minds on anything.

Because like Chris Matthews said, it’s no longer about politics. It’s about a pure, unwavering “hatred” of President Obama.

I really believe many of these Republicans would rather see this country reduced to ashes rather than get behind anything the president supports.

President Obama hit the nail on the head today: If you want to change the laws, go win an election and then follow the legal process!

To those who say he did not compromise, I would love to hear exactly when and how the TPGOP ever showed anything like "a spirit of cooperation" to this president. They only pretended to negotiate, and in bad faith, at that.

Did I mention that I am really, truly proud of the Democrats for not "negotiating" with the Teahadists?

Jeb Bush has advice for Republican Party "We have to have an agenda, we just can't be against what's in front of Washington, D.C. ... maybe actually pass a law through the regular, normal order and see if it works"(politico.com)

Blue - just posted that to my Facebook page. Best argument I've ever seen for action against global warming.

Kam and Yorkie - thinking of you and your babies.

I'm hoping the Republicans learned something from the mess they created, but alas, stupid people don't increase their intelligence when they screw up.

he did preface his argument with the statement that everybody has to admit that they can be wrong at one time or another. Hmmmm. We have seen that this is not necessarily true.

Stupid people indeed. I just got done reading this piece and as well.....listening to some conversation Dh had with his majorly stupid Republican brother who opined about what LITTLE Ted Cruz had to do with this shut-down. Same said brother has tried to actually distance himself the last few months from the Republican party but it is apparent to me that he has not done this. He made it sound like he was joining ( I don't know what crazy thing it was ) into a whole new party, and urged us to come check it out. I declined ( In general the last few years ( a bit over five now ) I've never been happier with the party I'm in and see no need of change. Even more so considering what the party to totally whacked has just done. http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2013/05/08/18127236-a-deficit-shift-the-gop-may-struggle-to-explain?lite So glad the President held fast, but he was getting pressures to not do so. You'd have thought when all said and done this person might have wised up somewhat, but not so.

Kam - that was so, so kind of that woman, and she was reflecting the LOVE you feel too, really, I do think, as someone said, it's Karma, but more, it's receiving the same good will we offer to the world.

That article, Chris Matthews, really gets what's going on. I thought the hatred of Clinton was irrational - he was a Southerner, not part of the "elite" and yes, hurt himself too, but this hatred toward Obama is of an entirely different level.

So difficult to believe elected representatives of the people of the USA would rather DESTROY, than build, putting the very fabric of democracy in danger.

Meanwhile, women with bc, pre-existing conditions are getting access to health care. ObamaCares. YES. YES. YES.

Illinois lady, after reading your article I wonder why we dem's don't have someone as vocal as Cruz and plain out there telling the nation the truth over and over and over. Seems like that's what it takes for people to believe.

    Hi Wabbit!

I'm home ... and missing my boys terribly. I had rented a car and the boys were all mine for two days while their parents were at work. We were runnin' and gunnin' the entire time! I got home late Wednesday night and yesterday I felt so lost. Just miss them all so much. I did have about an hour alone with Luke as he showed me pictures from his hikes and told me all about his new passion.

Been thinking about you too. I hope you're holding up okay ... know you must be missing Jerry.

Sending love and a big hug,

    Bren
