    hi everyone !

I have my second chemo shot the coming week and it's giving me shivers from now!

I hope things go a lil better this time ! As first shot really left me nauseated , weak and listless for good couple of days !

Good luck to everyone for the forthcoming chemos !

    Kiko.

Wrenn it doesn't matter when you start chemo you have to stay a part of the Oct group we'd miss you too much! So glad to hear things are improving even though you'd like them to go faster. Good job on the yogurt and fruit - the sweet stuff is so tempting!

Thanks Pam, I was so happy to see your name pop up. You have been so strong for all of us and I worried about you having a hard time of things. I hope it continues to improve and it is good to hear that they will change things for next time. What an ordeal for you.

I will definitely stick around no matter what. :-)

Have a good week you courageous women.

It's Thanksgiving here in Canada. I am thankful for you women on here. Very thankful.

Pam glad to see you posted, was worried about you.

I got my hair cut on Friday, while I was still feeling OK. I got 6-12 inches pony tails in a zip lock bag. My hair is doing the Miley look, standing straight up.

Saturday and Sunday were the pits. It's the stomach cramps that's doing me in. Haven't gotten sick to my stomach, willing myself not to because I need to keep my meds inside me. My fiancee is pushing me to get out of bed and walk a little. Walked on the boardwalk and cried. I just didn't expect it to be so bad, so fast. He's asking about the Wednesday gals :-) I'm so sorry, that we all seems to have had a rough weekend. I feel so sorry for my fiancee he didn't sign up for this.

You, me, him, we will all get through this together and that's what matters!

Well My first trip to the ER is under my belt. 60 years old and never been before but ended up there yesterday. And for the most awful thing...fecal impaction. Yuck. Having been so sick from Tuesday's chemo I hadn't paid much attention until Saturday but then realized I hadn't had a bowel movement. And my issue is I have a rectocele & vaginal vault prolapse so getting even a little constipated can cause more problems. And it did! Awful! I couldn't strain because of the pain & worrying about a blow out with my *plumbing* so screwy & also couldn't urinate because of the contents pressing against my vagina.

Can we say just lovely? (Poor hubby)

Sounds like a few of you got your butts kicked this last treatment. Hopefully we will all be feeling more human today.

Hi Ladies, I was in the hospital for a couple of days. Last Wednesday, WCB count was at 0, liver count was too high, had a fever of 101.7, was admitted, stayed in a isolation room and given antibiotics through my port for several days to ward off infections. TCH kicked my a##. MO is going to adjust my chemo. I will be meeting with my MO this week to go over all my vitamins to see if anything could have made my liver counts high. I am starting to feel a little like myself and asking myself how can I do this again next week?

Vintagegal -- feeling so bad for you! You sound so strong and courageous.... Hang in there brave warrior! ((((Gentle hugs))))

MsJean -- stomach cramps were worst part for me too. Call you MO and find out what you can take to ease the pain. No need to suffer if there is a quick fix. Exercise helps too, so keep walking if you can.

VintangeGal - what an awful thing to have to endure. It's tough to remember to pay attention to every bodily function at once when you are feeling well let alone when you are not.

Happy Thanksgiving Wrenn and all of our other Canadian Fighting Sisters!

ML40 - Great to see you back! Sorry to hear about your trip to the hospital, it sounds a bit scary but glad you are feeling more like yourself.

Ms Jean - hope the walk and tears were a little bit helpful. I was glad I cut my hair about a month ago - one less thing to deal with. I sent it off to locks for love as I just couldn't see it being swept off the salon floor. Next step is shaving it down - I know that's coming soon. It sounds like you have a wonderful fiancé - he's getting that "sickness" part of in sickness and health out of the way early. He's just an over achiever :-)

Friday my wonderful husband went out of his way, after a long day of work, to get me a birthday cake even knowing I probably couldn't eat it due to my nausea but was keeping with my firm belief that everyone should have birthday cake on their birthday. No wonder I love that guy so much.

about 2 weeks after my 1st taxotere cytoxin treatment my hair started coming out too. Then about a week later just before my next treatment the taste buds went. My tongue feels thick fuzzy and no flavors passed over it. A charbroiled burger had nothing; a vanilla milkshake was just something thick to drink. Now 4 weeks after 1st treatment and 1 week after 2nd treatment I've got fuzzies all over my head. Still debating to shave the rest away and keep wearing the baseball caps. Always wore my hair in a very short pixie cut so the remaining fuzz is very short. But I stopped coloring my hair 2 years ago so all that's left is white fuzz. Had a little brown left but that's now gone. Only the white fluff remains. Tried doing the scarf thing, but I have small head, small forehead, small ears and scarves don't really look good. Don't like idea of wearing wig especially when most of them look a little "wiggy" anyway. Fortunately have had no mouth sores yet and peppermint candy does give the inside of my mouth a bit of a minty 'air'. Good luck to everyone and lets fight the good fight.

Have had 2 TC treatments to far (3 weeks apart). Only reaction was upset stomach and very bad headaches. Not really nauseous just upset tummy. Don't feel like eating and at this point can't taste anything any way. But the head aches.....oooooooo bad! Tummy & headaches lasted about 6 days. By the 7th day I was feeling really good. Now I have 2 weeks to try and enjoy some food and go to Bingo (yep that's right I'm a bingo nut) before I do round 3. Looking at the calendar I figure my 4th & final treatment will be the 18th Of november so may be I'll have it together in time for Thanksgiving and be able to eat my turkey and Italian cheesecake.

Hi Peanutsmom, did you take any medicine to ease your headache? Does it work? I will start TC this week. Headache is my big weakness cos I can't function. Wonder what is the right thing to take if that happens. Will see my MO again tomorrow too.....Jen

Pam Happy Birthday. Have hubby, save you a piece of cake in the freezer, just like the wedding layer and you can eat it next year to celebrate one year after chemo. You have a wonderful hubby.

Vintagegal my MO said keep a journal, so I write down, time of day for everything I'm doing, drugs, foods, bowels movements, temperatures, even walks. So sorry you ended up in the ER. Some of my regular meds cause me constipation, so that's what I'm fearning most from chemo.

It's finally sunny on the shore, did get out for another walk, with no tears this time :-)

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes!

Peanutsmom - May your headaches be exchanged for Bingo Winnings! There are some scarves at headcovers.com that have a little padding in the front so it looks more flattering. I wasn't sure what they would be like but I ordered one and it looks better on than on the website :-) May or may not be an option - it's such a personal preference - just like our hair!

    Happy birthday Pam!

Happy Birthday Pam! V, I'm going to ask my MO why he didn't start me off with the N. shot in the first place, cause the past week was horrible. It's day 14 and my hair has started shedding. I thought I was prepared, my daughter has been cutting my hair shorter every week and giving me different hair style, but I still got emotional in the shower. Made a appointment at a salon that offers a clean shave & wig for cancer patients for only $20. Going to stick to my plan to shave my head cause once it starts shedding cause I don't want to deal with hair all over the place. Feeling more like myself, but can't stand the smell of meat cooking.

Pmom wishing you BINGO instead of headaches. I selected a FREE scarf from GoodWishesScarves.org checkout the website.

Hope everyone has a good week with little or NO SE :):)

    Happy belated Birthday Pam!

I'm so sorry to hear of others dealing with awful SEs and hospitalizations :( I was just talking to my 83 year old Dad and tried to explain to him how horrible I felt for a few days...no one in my immediate family has been through chemo before but my husband lost one sister to cancer 11 months ago today and another has survived breast cancer. My brother-in-law in California sent me a big box filled with all of their hats last week...19 different hats, plus a few soft head cover scarves and some bandanas! My bald head will be covered this winter!

Today my sweet sister-in-law chopped off my hair for me! She is a professional and did a beautiful job but I felt bad taking so much of her time when it's going to be gone in a couple of weeks. She does free haircuts for any of her clients who undergo chemo! She wants to cut it again in a week and then will buzz it down when it's time!

I hope we all get through a few good days...
