October 2013 Chemotherapy

Hello all.
I hope you are doing great!!!
October 25 is first chemo day for me, I'll be on herceptin until 11/26 if my math is right and I have no more delays, which shall make Thanksgiving an extra extra special day (first special was the birth of my daughter)
I have also have had quite a journey but it seems to be quieting down. My last surgery had no problems to breast and I have phase 2 of lat flap recon to lefty and symmetry with righty scheduled for 10/20. I hope that this takes care of everything and recon will be done.
My Onc I see on 10/23 and I know some tests will be ordered to see how everything is after I finish Herceptin.
Take care all, I'm still posting but mostly on other threads. Even if thru PM keep in touch and say Hi.
I'm on DIEP 2014,Latissmus Dorsi 2014, Triple Positive,TCH, What's for Dinner, Hair,Hair,Hair and Arimedex.

Naiviv, I also had a partial flap failure. I had hip flap on August 20th and after 7 weeks my left flap had a partial failure ( tissue necrosis) and I had to have it removed. Now scheduled for DIEP on left breast in December with my stage 2. How did your redo go? Other than that I'm doing well and will be going to Disney World with my hubby and grandkids in 2 weeks! Can't wait!!

Hi all.
It was a year to me starting chemo October 31st. Surgery was September 15th. It's been a long road and now that's it is over, I can mourn the losses, I miss my breasts....
Hope all is well!!! Xoxoxo

Just thinking of my chemo sisters and wishing you all happy holidays and a healthy 2015!!

Hi all! I've been out of touch for a long time, but VERY busy meeting friends through the local AAUW and Newcomers groups. Now I'm almost as busy as when I was working (been retired since 2009). And now that the chemo/surgery/rads are over, I'm much better able to volunteer and give back to the community. So fulfilling!!
I'm hoping to get a reality check from my Oct '13 sisters. Do any of you have breast pain now? Mine started as tightness/pulling in the area of the incisions, and I assumed I wasn't stretching enough. Now the whole breast feels like when I was pre-menopausal and had my monthly tenderness and swelling before my period. The surgeon wasn't concerned about the tightness/pulling around the scar, just suggested stretching exercises. This new, more generalized discomfort is more worrisome. Have any of you experienced it? I finished my rads in July, and surgery was last March. I have an appt with my MO in a couple of weeks.
Thanks everyone, and Happy 2015!

Hi Vivian! I'm doing well, feeling good except the nasty Lupron/Tamoxifen induced hot flashes. I've also got these dumb little lumps on my upper chest that nobody seems to know what to do with and can't get a good image of...I'm tired of tests. I'll hit 3 years from diagnosis next month!
-
Kcat its three years for me this past 7/5.
I have some lumps that have been tested and I am told are scar tissue and fat migration from my flaps. To be removed at next surgery but I keep putting it off.
What reconstruction did you have? If it is fat massage will help them /breaks them up. I am on exemestane an AI, I had total hysterectomy. I have hot flashes, joint pains, brain fog, neuropathy, weight that won't come off, but other than that I am aok

hi ladies. I'm here mostly lurk. I had a CT scan of abdomen and pelvic yesterday. I have been having severe pain and bloating. I get results today. So anxious about it.
When does this stuff truly end.
I'm managing my Lymphedema and can't believ it will be three years August 16th since I heard those life changing words.
I hope you are all doing well....

school counselor, sorry to hear about your pain and bloating. Hopefully you've gotten your results now and don't have to wait all day!
vivian, I had reconstruction with silicon implants. I'll have to try massaging the lumps, thanks. My BS said the lumps are too high up on my chest to have any breast tissue.

Hello all,
Just checking in to say hi, doing well.
-
Checking in as well , I'm okay. Learning to live again.....
-
Hi SchoolCounselor! Remember me.... your chemo twin?
Pleased to hear you're doing well!
This past weekend was 4 years since I got that dreadful diagnosis phone call.... I'm happy to say I'm feeling great! The menopausal symptoms suck, but aside from that, life is really good.
Thinking of you all!

Hi Vivian,
I jpopped in today because I just found a new lump in the same place as the original and kind of freaked out a bit. Up until yesterday when I found the lump I've been doing great. Stopped Lupron shots 2 years ago and stopped Tamoxifen last spring after doing 5.5 years ( due to concerns my onc had about my continuing it because of other pre existing health stuff). Anyway, guess I'm going to call my breast surgeon tomorrow to see if she can get me in or if she'd rather me go through the onc first.
-
Kcat,
I'm so sorry you have to go through this...it sucks.
May I ask? What reconstruction you have had. I have had a few issue with lumps due to my flaps and fat. Fat has moved and some died. I was told to massage and it did help it to go down but it took time.
Please let me know what happens, I shall be in your pocket with prayers and good thoughts that all is well.

I have silicone implants. I do wonder if it's some kind of scarring/fat necrosis. It's pretty small and hard. If it wasn't along my scar line and in the the same place as the original lump I wouldn't think much of it and would probably just wait a month or so to see what it does. Yesterday I scared myself but after feeling it again today I'm less inclined to be concerned about it--it's that initial oh my gosh what is that and why is it there?? I will get it looked at but I'm not in a panic to get it seen absolutely immediately anymore.
-
Kcat,
It is best, not to stress whenever you can avoid it. If you call your MD and tell them what you felt, would they order an US via phone?

I think my breast surgeon will order imaging if I call or in the least make me an appointment with her and she has an ultrasound in her office that she uses at some appointments.
