Good morning, everyone!! Hope everyone is doing well!! We have tickets to see Jay Leno today!! Hopefully, we will do some walking, since the parking is not close to the studio!!! But want to have a good lunch, too,he,he,!! Have a great day!!!! -
Excuse me breaking in here, but we are looking to show your faces, names and quotes at our fundraising event in October (www.rockforbreastcancer.org), and would love your help. This event is one of our largest fundraisers of the year and we'll be joined by hundreds of generous donors.
Specifically, we will have two projector screens up during the event, and want to show the people attending the event YOUR faces--- the women of our community, the women who use and rely on BCO ! Having the opportunity to share your photos and quotes that night will reinforce to our donors, in a meaningful and personal way, just how vitally important their contributions are to our community.
For this, we are looking for people willing to share a photo of themselves (either alone or with family, friends, pets, other BCO members, etc.), allow us to use your first name, say where you are from (it can be from anywhere in the world!), and give us a quote on how important BCO is to you. We are looking to have at least 40 people and have (only) a few weeks to work on this.
If you are interested, could you please email Melissa at mjenkins@breastcancer.org, with your photo, first name, where you live, and your quote? Also, PM us if you have any questions!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping us!!

praying for you Tammy! They'd be foolish not to hire you! -
Cathy and Rocket, thank you so much...I was offered the job yesterday!
I start in a couple of weeks so I'll have time to get a few things done around the house first and maybe some pampering :-) -
Dear Tammy! That is wonderful news!!! Was there ever a doubt, Rocket was right!!! They would be foolish not to hire you!! Enjoy this time and have fun, definitely pamper yourself!!!
A big shout to Tenaj and CookieMonster!! Hope you are both doing well!!!! -
WooHoo Tammy! Congratulations! Definitely pampering is in order! -
Congratulations Tammy on your new job, wonderful news! Take some time for yourself & pamper yourself, you deserve it!
Hi Kathy, how exciting that you went to see Jay Leno. How was it? What guests were on? Going to see Dave Letterman in NYC is on my list of things to do.
Sorry I've been MIA, as you know I got hives after the wedding. Well I actually still have them......6-8 Benadryl initially & then was down to 3 a day. I made an appt with an allergist but needed to be off antihistamines for at least 3 days, so I stopped last Friday. Less itching but the hives still persist. Saw the MD & failed the skin tests because my skin was so reactive. 9 tubes of blood later & now wait for a few weeks for the results. My treatment now is 3 different antihistamines daily.....sorry..don't mean to whine.....I'm just a bit down, the hormone changes since I stopped the tamoxifen is making me so emotional....I could really use a break.....oh yea my vertigo started last Saturday too... I get bouts of vertigo several times a year, hormonal I think...( my mom had the same thing & all tests leaned to menopause) The good news is that every time I get vertigo it seems to be less severe than the previous, it just lingers for a few weeks & I learn to live with it. Crazy, right? I don't know I keep plugging along, I just would like a break..... I hope things settle down & my up coming trip to Cancun actually happens. Thanks for letting me vent....I hope to be more supportive the next time I pop in.
Stay well, hugs & blessings to all!
Janet -
Dear Janet!! You poor thing!! I am so sorry to hear that you are still having hives and vertigo issues!! You so deserve to vent!! Please always let us know how you are doing!!!! I hope your trip to Cancun happens!! When are you leaving? You are always so supportive and encouraging to us here!!! Please rest this this weekend, and know that you are covered in prayer! Hugs, Kathy -
Janet (((hugs))), vent anytime you like....It seems like you need the break to let your body settle down....take care of yourself.... -
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support. I worked today & actually finished early for a change, I snuck a bike ride in before it got dark. Feeling better today. Boy...yesterday was a blue day... I hate that!
Enjoy the weekend!
Trying to be strong & not open the Halloween candy!!! :-) -
Happy Sunday, everyone!!! Exercise really does make you feel better!! Janet, I bet the bike ride was great!! Every time, I get anxious about something, my hubby senses it and says let's go for a walk or bike ride!!! I love the elyptical as well, easy on my knees and it gets my heart pumping!!! Hi to Rocket, Tammy and CookieMonster!!! -
Hi ladies, I'm doing better. Emotions leveling out! Thank goodness! Getting ready for a weekend celebration. My son & new daughter are coming home this weekend. Haven't seen them since the wedding. I'm very excited, also going to celebrate my DH 55th birthday.....we leave for Cancun on his birthday! Yea! First big trip since BC diagnosis.....looks like I will be resuming my better eating & exercising when I return. Healthy eating will be difficult to do in the next week & half, I'll try to do my best. Hope everyone is doing well, hugs & blessings!
Janet -
hi, Janet!!! I am so glad that you are feeling better!! Enjoy your son and daughter-in-law's visit!!!! What a great birthday celebration: Going toCancun!!!! Have fun every minute, enjoy the food, and go for long romantic walks on the beaches!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!! Hugs, Kathy -
Janet, have a wonderful weekend and holiday....enjoy yourself and just eat healthy when you can :-) -
Hi, Tammy!! How are you doing!! I have been meaning to ask you , if all your tests were completed!! Hope everything is fine!!!! Kathy -
Kathy, yes my final tests came back with just some cysts so nothing to worry about :-)
However, I am now due for my year 1 check up and I'm a little nervous.... -
Dear Tammy, so glad to hear that your cysts are nothing to worry about!! It is so normal to feel nervousness at check ups! I just know that you will be fine!! My onc here in CA, wants to see me every 3-4 months, even though I am 9 years out!! She is very thorough and wants to stay on top of things!!! Please let us know how the check up goes!!!
I had dinner out with my Sister Circle from church last night! I ate way too much, but it was fun!! I jumped on the elyptical early this morning, to try to burn those calories off ,he,he,he!!!!! I am maintaining my weight, but would really like to lose more!! I am going to do the 3 week challenge again: no sodas of any kind, no chips, no pastries or sweets and no fast food! Plus, I try to keep on the WW program!! Hugs to everyone here!!! Kathy -
Hey Gals,
I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing better. We are again on our way to eastern NC and I will have my final visit with my PCP. He is retiring at the end of December and he's been my PCP for nine years. I am going to cry at my visit. He has truly cared about me all those years. I selected a new PCP in my local area in western NC but haven't seen him yet. I pray I can develop a good relationship with him.
I will also be seeing my sweet little granddaughter tomorrow, and our DS and DIL told us that they are expecting another in June. I can hardly wait! Being a Nana is the most awesome thing! I LOVE hearing little Erin squeal with delight when she hears my voice. What joy! It just fills me to overflowing!
Have a great day ladies! -
Rocket, congratulations on the wonderful news of a new grandchild!
Kathy, I think I need to try the 3 week challenge....but maybe just for a week to start :-). I've put on a little since I've not been working but I have to get on top of it before it gets out of control.... -
Dear Rocket, Congratulations!!! How exciting!!! New grand baby, what a blessing!!! Enjoy your visit with Erin and your DS and DIL!! I am sure you will develop a great relationship with your new PCP!! Leaving your old one will be hard, I am sure!!!!
Dear Tammy, the 3 week challenge really works!! I lost 7 lbs the first time I did it!!! Just giving up the sweets and chips help so much!!!!!
My youngest DS and DIL are pregnant as well!! The baby us due at the end of March!!!
Love and hugs, Kathy -
Congrats to you too Kathy! How exciting - another grandbaby to love! So excited for both of us! -
Hi, Rocket, thank you so much!! Now, I really have to get in shape to have more energy!!!! He, he,he!!!! -
Kathy, congratulations to you too!
(((Hugs))) everyone.... -
Thank you, Tammy!!! Hugs right back!!!! Lots of exercise and eating better is on the agenda today!!! -
Wow, such great news. Congratulations to Kathy & Rocket! How exciting more grandchildren on the way! Lots of great things to look forward to.
Tammy, how's your relax time going? When to you start your job?
Happy Friday! -
Good morning!! I just saw Dr. Oz, and the newest health thing is to eliminate wholes grains and many vegetables and fruits that are high in carbs!! You can eat vegetables that are grown above the ground, like most lettuces and the good fruits are blueberries and blackberries. This new craze sounds like Atkins to me!! Butter and other fats in moderation are good again!! We should have leans sources of protein, vegetables grown above the ground and some fruits!! Even Dr. Oz said, wow, this is exactly the opposite of what I have been preaching, especially in regards to whole grains!! It is something different every day!! What do you all think!! I am still on the 3 week challenge and I lost a couple of pounds!! I am exercising every day as well!! Hugs to you all, Kathy -
Janet, I start my new job in just over a week. A good thing too as I have put on a couple of pounds through snacking at home!
Kathy, I think I will try the radical plan of exercising more and eating less :-)
