Good Morning Ladies,
It is rainy and very foggy here in the mountains. I'm hoping that is why my joints hurt and as soon as it clears up I will feel better. Despite the weather, I will exercise today - even if I can't get out to walk.
Kathy, it sounds like you are having a ball. Enjoy every minute with that precious grand-baby!
Tenaj, weddings are always fun. Do let us know how it's going.
I hope all of you ladies are having a blessed and healthy day! -
Thank you, dear Rocket!!!! We are having fun!! Lily is keeping us moving!!! We are definitely here until Saturday, so running after Our Lily will be our Exercise!!!! It is very warm here, in North Dakota so our appetites are not as voracious!! He, he,he!!!!?
-
Hello everyone!!! I've been having a wonderful time on my holiday

The food has been fabulous, the sights amazing and the time with hubby great....well at least most of the time when we weren't lost or negotiating those tiny city streets by car.....
Here is a picture of the 14th century castle where we stayed in Alarcon Spain....very romantic.....
I post a longer email when I'm back home. Looking forward to hear more news from everyone soon...

-
Wow Tammy, that looks like a beautiful room!! Sounds like you are having fun...look forward to hearing more of your trip! Enjoy & safe traveling.
Kindergarten, how is your trip going? Was this the world series that you were going to?? I heard about it on the news yesterday & was thinking of you.
I have been bike riding almost every day now. I feel stronger & have less joint pain since I stopped the tamoxifen 2 weeks ago. Now all I need is the scale to show some progress. It is so hard to not splurge a bit. For example, my tomato garden is in full swing & I can't resisit buying fresh mozzerella to eat with it! They are only in season for a short while I keep telling myself. And of course there is the sauce that you make with the tomato's, which of course goes with the pasta.......any how....at least I have been staying away from baking.
Stay well all & keep smiling

((hugs)))
-
Dear Tammy! Your trip does sound fabulous!!! Good for you!!!!! Your room in Spain looks so romantic and wonderful!!! Enjoy, enjoy!!!! When do you get home???
Dear Tenaj!! Our grandson is playing in the baseball Babe Ruth World Series !!! It is for 13 year olds!! The Little League World Series is for 11 and 12 year olds and it is being shown on TV!! Our series is being shown on internet only!! It is fun!!!! Wow, good for you with the bike riding!! Your scale will show progress!!! Tomatoes and mozzarella, eat it and enjoy!! You will burn it off with bike riding !! How many more days until the wedding??
Hugs and Blessings to CookieMonster and Rocket!!!!! -
Tenaj, while in Italy, caprese salad (tomato, mozzarella and basil) was my regular lunch fare, yummy! Another favourite was prosciutto crudo and melon
I get home on Sunday so it will be interesting to see what story the scales tell...I actually feel like I've stayed the same but only time will tell.....Kathy, what fun you must be having, keep on moving...
Rocket and CookieMonster, keeps us up to date on happenings in your world...
-
Hi, everyone!!! Our grandson's team from El Segundo won the championship game against Tennessee!! It was a great experience!!! Thanks for letting me brag!!! We are now on our way to Yellowstone!! We got a lot of exercise watching our precious Lily!!!! Running after a one year old is a great workout and so much fun!!!!! I hope you are doing well!!!!
Tammy, when do you get home?
Tenaj, how many more days until the wedding???
Rocket, how are you feeling?
CookieMonster, how was your first week of school? -
Kathy, how exciting!! Brag as much as you like..... Enjoy Yellowstone and watch out for bears stealing picnic baskets, although I think that only happens in Jellystone :-)
I got home yesterday and went to WW today.....the good news is that I actually dropped a pound while I was away....all the walking must have counteracted all the gelato....
I think my favourite gelato was the amarena flavour but I always had the small size so maybe that paid off..... -
Tammy, your trip sounded fabulous. That bedroom you stayed in was gorgeous and so romantic! How wonderful that you got to experience all of that.
Tenaj, how soon is the wedding? You must be so excited! I'm excited for you!
Kathy, huge congrats on the championship! That must have been so much fun to watch your grandson play.
We are expecting our DS, DIL and Erin this coming weekend (Labor Day). I can hardly wait. We found some awesome paved trails on the greenway near our home and we can take Erin in her stroller for a nice long walk. There is also a terrific playground that has its own section for younger kids. We want to take her there as well. My DH took me to Walmart last night and we bought a little kitchen set for Erin to play with when she is at our house. I'm getting her a bigger one for Christmas for her own house. I can't wait to play with her!
I'm still struggling a lot with back pain. I'm going to take a walk today to see if I can stretch the muscles in my back. Walking does seem to help. The contractor was supposed to be replacing our doors today, but they got behind on another job and it will take them a few days longer, so I might as well exercise before they start tearing my house apart.
Have a great day everyone! -
Dear Rocket!!! Have a wonderful time with Erin, DS and DIL! I hope your back pain resolves soon!! Walking is good! The exercises that I do for my LE really helps my back as well!!! Lots of stretching!!! Your home and surroundings sound beautiful!!! We are still on our road trip and headed to Yellowstone!! I did the elyptical this morning at the hotel!!! Hoping to get lots of walking in!! Hugs and Blessings to every one here!!!!
-
Kindergarten you are an inspiration! Vacation & hitting the gym! You go girl!! Congrats on your grandson winning the championship. That must have been so special to be there with all your family. You can brag anytime :-)
Rocket, have a wonderful weekend with your family. I hope your back is feeling better. Try not to over do getting ready, you want to be in good shape for the weekend!
Tammy, glad you made it back to the states safely & with a weight loss!! WOW I am impressed :-)
Counting down.....12 more days to go. I pick up my gown tomorrow. I really do love it...even if it isn't as small as I wanted.....lol....whatcha gonna do??? gonna ENJOY because I'm really just happy to be here.....I've still been exercising & trying to eat well most of the time.....I need to learn to love myself for who I am & not what shape I am. I'm working on it.......
Have a great week Everyone.
CookieMonster, have a great school year! -
Well said Tenaj. I too am learning to love myself as I age and my body can't do some of the things that it used to do. I get really frustrated about that and have to remind myself that God has a purpose and plan in it. I did take a nice walk yesterday with a friend and the dogs. I'm trying to exercise at least four days per week. Today I will go to my pool therapy class for LE. The contractor should be coming this morning to replace our front doors. I dread construction dust and right before company comes! Ugh! It needs to be done however.
Well I hope all of you ladies have a wonderful day! -
Dear Tenaj!! Wow, 12 days until the wedding!! You must be so excited!!! You are just beautiful inside and out!!! Enjoy every minute of this wonderful wedding celebration!!!
Dear Rocket!! You are doing great with walking and your pool therapy!! I hope your doors turn out beautifully!!!!
Have a Wonderful Day!!! -
Tenaj, enjoy this time of lovely expectation before the big day :-)
Rocket, exercising 4 days a week is great! I need to get back into the gym now that I'm back. I was lacking motivation but you have inspired me. Thank you.... -
Dear Tammy, Welcome Home!!! Wow, a pound lost! That is fantastic!!! We did see a grizzly mama bear yesterday at Yellowstone!!! Have a wonderful evening!!!!
-
Hi ladies, popping in to say hello. Today I've just started a 12 day vacation!!!! I'm going to use some of that time to get ready for the wedding. Yay!!!! I have been feeling so much better & even started to see the scale moving in the right direction. I made a decision a few weeks ago to stop taking my tamoxifen. It was not an easy one to make but decided my QOL needed to be addressed. The progression of my joint pain (which was inhibiting my exercise) was dramatic. It was getting to the point that my job was getting difficult to perform & the thought of needing a device to help me walk down the aisle at my sons wedding was too much. I could deal with the weight gain & hot flases, but not being able to move was just too much. I saw my MO & she was happy that I took treatment for 2+ years, saying she understood. They will keep me on lupron & keep monitoring my markers. Which have been normal & actually went down this time :-)
Anyway....I hope to keep loosing weight now & help motivate you wonderful ladies!
Have a great day! -
Kindergarten, glad to hear your enjoying your trip to Yellowstone. How close were you to the grizzly? Cool, but a bit scary too.
Tammy, how are you doing adjusting to home life? Resting up? Vacations can be exhausting when you have so much fun. Where was your favorite place in Italy. My DD is planning her honeymoon to Italy next May. I think she is trying to see too much for one trip.
Rocket, have a great holiday weekend with your family. -
Good morning, Tenaj!! Hope you are doing great!!! We were a distance from the grizzly bear as she was crossing the road! There were also other people watching her and we told to keep a certain distance away!!! It was just so neat to see this bear in its natural habitat!! We are now in Park City, Utah, heading home shortly, with a one night stay in Vegas!!! Looking forward to sleeping in our own bed again and seeing our grandchildren again, even though we spent 10 days with them!! I am sure they were glad we took an extra week to get home, he,he,he!!!! We were better with eating this week, and we walked alot, so hoping the scale is kind when we get home tomorrow!!! Hope you are enjoying every minute of the wedding preparations!!
Hi, Tammy!!! I hope you are resting from your fabulous trip! Can you post more pictures!!!
Hi, Rocket!!! Have a great Labor Day weekend with your family!! I am sure you cannot wait to snuggle with Erin!!!
Hi, CookieMonster!! Hope you are doing well!!
Hugs and Blessings to all!!! -
Kindergarten, get home safely!! Your trip sounds like you had lots of fun....enjoy family some family time :-)
Tonight my DD's future in-laws are coming for a BBQ. We are going to start planning a wedding celebration for the families on Long Island for next June. my DD is having a small intimate wedding in Boston May 3rd. Keeping busy......this is so much better than all the MD appointments!!!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend! -

-
Hi, everyone!! Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!! It feels good to be home!! We took an hour walk today!! It is hot in the South Bay Area, so we both were sweating out toxins today!!!Tenaj, how are the last preparations going? Tammy, are you missing Italy?
When I was on Facebook recently, I saw the 3 week Diet Challenge: no fast food, no sodas or diet sodas, no sugar, no chips, and no pastries, desserts or muffins for 3 weeks!!! Have any of you seen this diet challenge? I have a wedding to go to in 3 weeks in Pittsburgh, so I am going to do it, along with staying on he WW plan!! I will keep, you posted!!
Hi, CookieMonster and Rocket!!!! Hugs and Blessings to all!!! -
Kathy, it sounds like good healthy eating to me...enjoy it!
I'm not missing Italy as I'm not working at the moment and I'm having too much fun catching up with friends :-) I am going to have to keep a close eye my eating though as lots of coffee and muffins does catch up...... -
Hello girls! Glad you made it home safe Kindgarten. Busy walking & planning your next adventure. I love it! It's nice to have things to look forward to.
Tammy, enjoy your time with friends. That's important to feel good about life & sharing it with friends!
Well....tomorrow we leave for Philly. Lots of dinners & socializing for the rest of the week. I'm so excited. I just finished packing........I'm nervous I'm going to forget something.
I bought waterproof mascara, cause Lord knows I'm going to need it. I cry at people's wedding's I don't even know! Lol.....it's so nice to have had this to look forward to....better since I've seen less doctor's too. Wow....could this be what the future brings?? Fun times & less doctors! I'll drink to that! Stay well girls. Hugs & best wishes to all! -
Dear Tenaj!!! How exciting , you leave for Philly tomorrow!! Is the wedding this Saturday or next!! Just enjoy every minute, and cry happy, happy tears!!! Keep us posted if you can!!
-
Tenaj, have a wonderful time!
-
Hi ladies, I'm back from Philly. The wedding was fabulous. All went very well. The pre- wedding events & brunch the next day went better than I could have hoped for. Everyone looked beautiful! Many emotional moments. The dance with my son was very special. Unknown by me, my son asked his cousin to sing a special song with a band he hired for the cocktail hour. Very special and another tissue moment. They had a table set up with pictures, both of his grandparents wedding, and a few pictures of his wife's family and a plaque that said " we would have been there if heaven wasn't so far away". Another tissue moment! Another table was set up with pins for the American cancer society with a sign that said that a donation was made in lieu of favors. ANOTHER tissue moment! Good thing I bought waterproof mascara.
Now, the bad news.....I developed an allergy & ended up in the emergency room last night. I believe it started Saturday when I had my hair done with the girls in the bridal suite, lots of fun!! The hair dresser used some different products in my hair & I began itching that night. By the morning I had intense itching in my scalp & later that day I started with hives. So I started Benadryl & by the morning was covered head to toe. In hind sight I guess I should have went to the ER. The next morning I called my MD who couldn't see me, they said to go to ER if it was bad. On the way my throat started to feel funny. I arrived at the ER at 7:20 & got home at 4:45am. I shot of epinephrine, 3 bags of IV fluids, IV prednisone & oral meds & there was some improvements. Now I am on oral prednisone & Benadryl and feeling a bit better. The hospital staff was shocked to see the severity of my hives. I seem to do it big when I do it! Lol. I'm suppose to return to work tomorrow but that's not happening.....
I'm not going on the scale this week. I am swollen from the hives & now the prednisone. I did eat pretty well considering we ate out since lat Thursday. I am not giving up on losing weight. I have a vacation to Cancun scheduled in October, so another reason to get busy!
Hope everyone is doing well.
Hugs & blessings, Janet . -
Oh, dear Tenaj!! So happy to hear that the wedding was so wonderful !! Beautiful moments and traditions were shared!! But I m so sorry to hear about your serious allergic reaction!! You are such a trooper, nothing keeps you down!!! I hope you feel better and better each day!! Hugs and blessings to you!!!!
-
Janet, so many memories, happy ones and so many stories for the grandchildren!
Ignore the scales for now, just enjoy the afterglow of a wonderful time.... -
Good morning ladies! It has been a rough road since I got home last Sunday. I have spent the week home surviving this allergy reaction. I never made it back to work, Tuesday hopefully. I am so doped up on meds & am still getting hives. But they are getting better. Through my researching it seems I had what I like to call a cluster F^€¥ of events. It seems hormonal changes (which I just stopped my tamoxifen & got my lupron shot 2.5 weeks ago), thyroid condition ( which I have had for 25 years & in the last 3 months my MD had been changing my dosage), chemical reaction to the hair care products used at the wedding, and of course STRESS! Looks like I fit into all those categories. Soooo.....here I am enlisting your support to help me get through this time. I look forward to moving beyond this, exercising & dropping some pounds again. The good news, the prednisone took ALL my aches & pains away!
Have a great day!
Janet
