Tammy!! I am with you!! -
It's so crazy how it always changes about eating what types of food. Looks like eating things in moderation is the best option with exercise. I try to eat as much organic as possible. Milk & eggs are easy to buy ( and less expensive) at Costco. I'm lucky that the food stores near me carry many choices for organic vegetables & other foods. We also have some organic farms on Long Island.
I am in Cancun enjoying the relaxation & way too much food & drinks. I will have to work much harder when I get home. I will count on your continued encouragement to succeed!
Good luck with your job Tammy. I'm afraid that I'm going to forget how to log onto my work computer when I get home! Lol.....have fun & enjoying, first real vacation since being diagnosed.
Stay well ladies & enjoy the weekend. -
Dear Tenaj!! I am so glad to hear that you are in the Cancun enjoying good food and relaxing!!! I am sure that you are getting exercise by walking the beaches!! Enjoy, enjoy!!! I hope your hives situation has totally resolved!!! Hugs, Kathy -
Janet, enjoy yourself and we'll be here to help when you get home! -
Wow! I never really expected this thread to still be going. Hello to all those who joined when I used to post and hi to the folks I haven't "met".
I wish I could say I'm in the best shape of my life but that wouldn't be truthful.
I'm working in an office job that keeps me sitting at a desk 9 to 10 hours a day 5 days a week now. By the time I come home about all I can do is get dinner and fall into bed.
Since the weather has gotten nicer, I have started walking at lunch and have set a goal of 30 minutes three times a week. I need to do more, but that's a start. -
Hi, PlantLover!!! Wow, it is so good to see you here!! Thanks again for starting this thread!! So gad you posted, let's keep this thread going!! I am exercising quite a bit, but eating quite a bit too, he,he,he!! I am following the WW program and trying to eat more protein and less carbs!!! I try to to ride the elyptical every day and walk!! I have lost some weight, but I am at a standstill right now. Again, so glad you are here!!! Kathy -
Yes, wow! Nice to meet you PlantLover. I had wondered what had happened to the founder of this little group.
This group keeps me honest and although we all have little set backs we are moving forward. The lunchtime walk is a good one as it is so easy to get distracted if you leave it until after work. Personally, an early morning walk is the best for me and then I can get on with the rest of my day. -
Good morning!! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing!!! Hubby and I are walking in the mornings and I am doing the elyptical and stationary bike at least 3 days a week!! They say that 150 minutes a week is good!! Good news, at least for me, is that if I exercise a lot, I need to eat a little more carbs!! I think I am finally figuring out how my body and metabolism work together!!! I love WW, because of all thefruits and vegetables they allow, and the 3 week challenge, which helps me get back on track!!! OK, if I can just stick to this!! Both DILS, have asked me to baby sit one or two days a week!! So, I am on a real mission to lose 20 more lbs, to be in better shape!!! Blessings and hugs to everyone!! PlantLover, again, so nice to see you here again!!!! -
Kathy, seems like you are doing great! I have been walking but little else as I strained my calf a couple of weeks ago. Hoping to get back to exercise next week. -
thanks, Tammy!! I am sure with you working and walking, you are going to be in great shape!!! Hope you are feeling good!!!! -
Kathy, tank you! I am getting some dental work done and have a temporary on my front teeth so I am finding it a little difficult to eat....but that does have an upside :-) -
Tammy, I sure hope you feel better!! I love my dentist, but I hate dental work!!! Temporary crowns are a nuisance!!! Have a yummy milkshake!!!! -
Kathy, unfortunately I am finding chocolate easy to eat! It is my front teeth with the temporary and I seem to be speaking with a lisp....probably why I wrote "tank you" instead of "thank you in my previous post :-)
I had my one year mammogram and ultrasound last week and nothing was found, phew!
I also have a new hair colour and start my new job on Monday so it feels like a whole new me......I hate the first day in a new job....I always feel useless not knowing basic things and having to ask about everything (like "where are the toilets?") but it us a small office and I hope I settle in quickly.
The new office has a gym so no excuses for not working out...I am very excited about this new chapter in my life....
Take care everyone! -
I'm back & taking care of myself again. That's the good news, the bad news is that I have gone backwards......but I plan on changing that. (With your support also!)
Kathy, you are doing so good, eating & exercising.....and with your hubby! That's great! That's wonderful you will be babysitting, I look forward to that some day :-)
Tammy, sorry to hear about your calf & dental work. Dental work can be such a PIA. Good luck Monday. The first few days are always the most uncomfortable. I'm sure you will do fine. How perfect is it that you will have access to a gym? That's great. Glad all went well with your yearly check up. I know how anxious I feel when I see my oncologist......what a relief for you. Blessings & support to you as you start your job with your new hair color!
Plantlover, nice to hear from you. Thanks for starting this thread, the ladies I have met here have been so encouraging & supportive. -
Dear Tammy, so happy to hear your mammo was clear, and that Monday will bring a new and positive chapter in your life!! How exciting!! Enjoy!! Let us know how your first day goes!!! You will do great, you are such a nice person!!!
Hi, Tenaj!!!! You have had a lot on your plate in the last few months!! You are doing great, and we can all support each other here!!! Onward and forward always!! You are the one that got me drinking me all the water!! Thank you!!!! Hugs and Blessings to everyone here!!!! Hi, Rocket and CookieMonster!!! -
Good luck today Tammy! May this new chapter in your life bring you happiness.
Have a great day Kathy & to anyone checking in...
Off to work... ( I have my green tea, yogurt, piece of chicken cutlet & lots of water packed) -
Hi, Everyone!! Just came back from my family doctor and I gained 5 lbs from the last time!!! Yikes, I made bad choices when eating out in Pittsburgh!!! We are headed to Chicago this Thursday, so I am determined to make better choices!!!! I am exercising a lot, but making poor food choices!! OK, onward and forward, and you all will be my inspiration to do better!!! Thanks, Hugs and Blessings to you all!!! Kathy -
Hi! So far everyone seems very nice at work....perhaps they are just on best behaviour like me :-)
Kathy, think positive and you will make better choices....good luck
Janet, nice lunch... Planning ahead is always the best option... -
thanks, Tammy!!! So glad that you had good day at work!!! You are going to do great!!! -
Kathy, we ALL have set backs, like Tammy said just stay positive & you WILL make better choices. I know that I am back to where I was when we first met here. I lost 10-12 lbs & it has slowly crept up on me, even though I was working so hard to get ready for the wedding. I blame a good part of it on the hormones, tamoxifen & a sklew of allergy meds now. But I know I need to get back to calorie counting. When I used my fitness pal it kept me aware of exactly what I was eating. And definetly when you are not home, like enjoying yourself on vacation, trips & family outings....(all very special & wonderful things that our soul needs)..it is extremely difficult to eat well for weight loss. BUT you can do it!!You have a great exercise routine & know what you need to do. We are here to support each other, so let's keep sharing some ideas!
Tammy I'm glad things are going well so far. Tomorrow is Friday already! Enjoy :-) -
Thank you Tenaj, for your always kind and encouraging words!!! We are in Illinois and Indiana visiting friends and family!!! I have been good so far!! You are so right about the hormonals, I am on aromasin!! I have two more years on it!! Onc wants me taking it for 10 years!! I will just work harder the next two years to keep the weight off!! We did a lot of walking today!!! No bread this weekend, so hopefully that will jump start the weight loss!! 3 week challenge again!! Hugs and Blessings to you all!!! -
Kathy, enjoy your weekend with friends & family! That's the best!! -
Good Morning, friends!! How is everyone doing?? We had a great time visiting family and friends in Illinois and Indiana!! And I lost 3 pounds, yippee!! I finally get it, low carb, high protein for me!, and limiting sweets! Lots f walking, too! Now, if I can consistently stick to this!! That is why, I love to come here, you all keep me motivated!!! I pray as well, knowing that God wants me to take care of myself!!! And Tenaj, I have been drinking lots and lots of water, thank you!!! Have a great day, everyone!!!! -
Happy Sunday! Great job Kathy, glad to hear your success! You can do this!!!! I have been better (it helps that the Halloween candy is almost gone.......:-( My willpower sucks! But, I will continue to learn proper eating habits.....I need to get my stress eating in better control. That seems to be one of my major bad habits. If I am busy all the time, it is much better. Today we are finishing up the fall leave clean up...so that should count for some calorie burning. I am having some pasta today (I married an Italian who is the love of my life, gotta keep him happy) BUT, I will cut the portion down to a small size. :-)
Keep up the good work, I do need to drink more water myself.....I have been having several cups of green tea daily without sugar & it seems to work well as a diuretic .......
Have a great day! -
Hello! Sorry that I haven't checked in for a while...I have been busy learning the new job. It is still going well but there is sooo much to do!
Janet, I understand about the pasta....I love it too. I think I have put on a couple of pounds since starting at the new job. They have a canteen which is subsidised and they have a very nice chicken pasta dish which I think I've eaten too often :-)
I also haven't been doing much exercise, just walking, but I will turn things around and start eating more healthily and doing more exercise starting this weekend.....
Kathy, I will use your success as my inspiration. Let's keep posting our progress...
Take care lovely ladies! -
Dear Tenaj, yes, that Halloween candy is a wicked temptation, but raking leaves is great exercise!!! Now, it is all the holiday treats that we will be tempted with!! I am coming on here every day to keep me motivated!!!
Dear Tammy!! I am sure that your new job is keeping you very busy!! And when you get home, you have got to be exhausted, get some rest!! I love any kind of pasta!!! What is new job, if you don't mind me asking? My daughter in law is opening up a daycare in her home, and she wants me to help!! I am really looking forward to it, but at 60, I know I won't have the energy like I used to! But, it will keep me moving!!! -
Kathy, I am a manager at a company that provides home nursing care and insurance medicals. They are growing so it is very busy! Unfortunately, I'm based in the office looking after the team and sitting at a desk most of the day
Day care would be very active and I can see why your daughter in law needs your help! I think it is great to keep active. I'm 54 and hubby is 63 and we would like to keep working as long as possible. We do get very tired by the weekend but the interaction with people keeps us young at heart! -
Happy Thanksgiving ladies! Have a safe & enjoyable time with family & friends. Looks like my calorie counting will be hold for a few days! No way is that happening today....blessings, hugs & well wishes to you all! Xoxo -
May you all have a Very Happy And Blessed Thanksgiving!!!!!! Enjoy the day and take a break from counting calories!! But take a nice walk!!!!! -
Happy thanksgiving!
Janet and Kathy, just enjoy
