Hi Girls - just been to our new farmers market at a closer location than my usual one - run by the same people. It wasn't as big as the others, but hopefully it will grow with time. My fish guy was there, so I was happy. Now I have 2 Sundays in the month and 2 Saturdays in the month where I can get yummy fresh fish.
Gorgeous Spring day here in OZ. Steve playing golf - again!! - club championships. What will I do? Did all the cleaning over the last 2 weekends, so I'm free to do anything I want
My Aunt sent me $50 for my upcoming birthday, so I could go and spend it.We're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate - much better than going on a Tuesday night.
-
Wabbit, I'm a little late but sending you love and hugs and peace your way. I am so sorry to hear the news of your DH. You are such a calm and supportive voice here - I hope we can provide comfort and peace for you at this difficult time.
XOXO

Thank you all for the kind words and loving thoughts. I'm drained and numb but considering what a painful and difficult ordeal this whole thing was for him ... and only getting worse ... I can't say that I would wish him back to endure more of it. Cancer is pure evil. Took him from guy doing all kinds of heavy physical work around the house and yard and working a part time job also to bedridden in only two months. We knew the end was nearing but did not expect it quite so soon.
I'm doing OK. The Hospice nurse and some wonderful family friends were here when he died and that helped a lot. My daughter and I will be going to finalize the funeral arrangements tomorrow. Yesterday was crazy with phone calls and visits. Friends have already stocked my freezer with enough food to feed a small army. Today I am decompressing (fancy word for not doing a darn thing). Did I mention that I hate f*cking cancer.
-
MOFO Cancer! Stay strong dear friend.
-
Wabbit - these last couple of months were, I'm pretty sure, the worst of your entire life. Hoping it helps to know that, even though we are all distant pals, we've been thinking of you with great tenderness and love, and are mourning your loss along with you.
-
What C4C said. Sending love to you and your family.
-
Wabbit - we're here for you.
(((((((((((((((((Love and Hugs)))))))))))))))

Lovely meal out at my favourite restaurant tonight - early celebration of my 61st b'day - it was so weird not cooking for a change - we obviously don't get out enough.
-
Wabbit - haven't been on here for a few days - but thinking of you. May you find peace in knowing you filled DH's days with love and made his passing as gentle and loving as possible.

Lovely Alex!
Happy Birthday Suzie!

Morning Friends,
Alexandria ... that was beautiful. I hope it brings comfort to our Wabbit.
Suzie ... happy birthday!
Tim is home today ... Yay! I'm going to actually cook this afternoon and we'll spend the day watching football together. No mowing for me today!
hugs,
Bren

Alexandria.....just beautiful.
Bren -- what fun. Glad you get to spend some time off that mower. If I could just win a lottery I'd sent you enough to be able to pay someone else to do it.
Nice cool day here. Missed my favorite MTP this morning. Too much early morning chores to complete. I noticed smarter than God, LaPierre was on. I still miss Tim Russert as host. I never felt he was allowing his biasses to show....at least not much and not like what I see now. Still, I watch.
Hope you are all going to have a good day.
Jackie
no spell checker -- Maui must be nice this time of yr.

Courtesy of Daily Kos:
MSNBC host Chuck Todd said Wednesday that when it comes to misinformation about the new federal health care law, don't expect members of the media to correct the record.
During a segment on "Morning Joe," former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) speculated that most opponents of the Affordable Care Act have been fed erroneous information about the law. Todd said that Republicans "have successfully messaged against it" but he disagrees with those who argue that the media should educate the public on the law. According to Todd, that's President Barack Obama's job.
"But more importantly, it would be stuff that Republicans have successfully messaged against it," Todd told Rendell. "They don't repeat the other stuff because they haven't even heard the Democratic message. What I always love is people say, 'Well, it's you folks' fault in the media.' No, it's the President of the United States' fault for not selling it."
It's apparently only the media's job to give a bully pulpit to Republican lies, which is why when Todd's employer poll people on Obamacare, they get answers like this:
The misinformation led some of those polled to say things such as, “There are death panels in there, and they’re going to decide whether people get treatment or not,” as one Republican-leaning woman told NBC News.
But, hey, that's not Chuck's fault. It's not his job to, you know, report on things and explain them and clear up misinformation. Because that means research, sifting through facts, figuring out which ones are real and which ones are made up. You know, work.

Thanks Jackie ... if you win the lottery ... can I have a tractor too? I need a bushhog with that as well.
John Deere would be great if you can swing it.
hugs,
Bren

Jackie - you didn't miss anything on MTP. I sneered at Mr.NRA for you. So tired of these talking heads refusing to go off script, really is boring. No matter what the question, comment, everybody had their prepared lines and just spews them. Still can't fathom how in the name of "saving money" people are willing to stop people from being able to buy food for themselves & their families. There are literally zillions of pork barrel programs ( help me keep my seat in Congress) which could be eliminated, but not feeding people who are hungry. Gives me the shivers to think of what the USA is becoming, or is.
Won't even comment about Obamacares. It's the LAW. Who does it hurt? But maybe the better question is, who does it help? sad, sad, sad....we are better than that, we really are...
Wabbit, joining all in sending you warmest hugs.
-
Thankyou girls - loved the cake Jackie. It's not until tomorrow - same day as Scuttlers - but we can celebrate any time we like

-
Regarding MTP, made me SOOOOO sick to hear LaPOS demanding that the solution is arming more people!

-
I had forgotten the host of MTP.....David Greggory. As a news person I really liked him....but he has been difficult to watch as the moderator of my once favorite show, which isn't so much now. I imagine I'll keep turning it on....but I don't feel the anticipation I once did.
By the way Sun.....that block feature is great. I know when someone posts and exactly who....but nothing else. Superb.
Jackie
-
Jackie - glad you're using the block feature - you can also block a thread!!! So if you're on a thread, where you have several "blue lines" might be time to stop reading or blocking the thread ;-)))))
I think David G. made a better reporter than MTP host - I'm not interested in his opinions, and he really doesn't follow up the was TR did when a person is avoiding answering his questions. Good reason to spend the morning reading the Sunday New York Times instead of watching the talking heads

-
-
Jackie - perfect graphic. So true.
-
Scuttlers and Suzie,
Best wishes for a very happy birthday. Party away!! My eldest DD shares your birth day. Lots of great ladies born on the 23rd.
-
Thankyou Juliaanna - but we're both the 24th. I had that happen at work today, with a few people saying happy b'day early

Scuttlers is one year younger than me, so she will be celebrating her 60th!!!!!
-
Suzie, oops
. Still wishing you both a wonderful day..or maybe you can celebrate all week long.
