Had work to do and totally missed MTP this morning.  I will have to get into some other venue to find out the latest word on Syria.  I do know that whatever decision is made that there will be plenty of nay-sayers.  I might end up one of them who knows.  After being duped and dumped into wars we should not have it is hard to swallow that we end up in someone else's....even on a limited basis.

Big storm last night....at first I thought I might be seeing heat lightning, as their was light but no sound.  Someone must have called the station.....before long, maybe 15 minutes we started seeing/feeling/hearing/getting full effects.  We needed the rain and I sort of new it would rain because ta-da....yes, I washed my car.  The heat index was at 111 degrees yesterday but it hadn't rained in several weeks.....too cheap to go to the car wash.  Ah....dh's truck was the happy recipient of my fool heartiness.

    ETA...love those kitties.

Cleaning day?! No, that doesn't sound right. I am going to find something else, anything else, to do.

Two more beauties, Blue.  Now you can play on the computer or something.  I just got done making a batch of ham salad.....always leaves the kitchen looking like a cyclone hit,but got it all cleaned back up.  Can't tell anything went on in there.  Late getting to news and the newspaper.....lots of catch up for our sort of non-holiday tomorrow since Dh will work.  I'm still working but only three days a week instead of five.  Starting to like that real well.

Looking quite a bit like rain again......last nights go didn't bring the temp down much, but this one is supposed to.  Can't happen too soon for me.  Got spoiled by a really decent summer and the terrific heat coming on so late just feels awful.

Sitting here having a 'green' drink.  Didn't intend to but invested in a Nutri-Bullet since they were on a little less than half price sale.  Such a breeze to clean.....and easy to concoct.  It is the only way I will get the veggies I need and for that matter.....I actually do get more fruit in the bargain.  Has helped me lose 8 pounds as well.  Had I known that was going to happen I'd have paid full price a long time ago...sigh !!!!

so nice if we could all just get along:

Here is the text of the request submitted by Obama for authorization from Congress to use force in Syria.  To say the wording of this authorization is overly broad and gives way too much discretion to the administration is an understatement. This reads like the authorization that Bush got to lead us into the Iraq war.  What is Obama thinking?  Has he been completely taken over by the generals who got us into Iraq and keep us in Afghanistan?

SEC. ___ AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES

    (a) Authorization. -- The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in connection with the use of chemical weapons or other weapons of mass destruction in the conflict in Syria in order to --

    (1) prevent or deter the use or proliferation (including the transfer to terrorist groups or other state or non-state actors), within, to or from Syria, of any weapons of mass destruction, including chemical or biological weapons or components of or materials used in such weapons; or

    (2) protect the United States and its allies and partners against the threat posed by such weapons.

That may be worded poorly I agree, but my feeling is that it opens the door to bringing it before Congress because I think it is going to be one of those things where there is too much conservatism for perhaps the wrong reason.

Not too happy with how some of the following article reads on the side of the conservatives......and I'd far rather that we didn't have to mix into the whole thing either, but I really don't think some of the talking head appearances beforehand are helping us one bit.  From either side.

Jackie - as soon as I bought my Vitamix, which I assume is a similar product to your Nutri-bullet,  and making a daily green drink of kale, fruit and other items, I started to lose weight.  After 5 days went by (this is last December) I realized I hadn't had a cup of coffee and I didn't even notice (I was a big espresso/americano/latte drinker).  The money I haven't spend buying those designer coffees has more than paid for the Vitamix.

I think the green drinks fill you up, but by getting so many varieties of frutis and vegetables, I think I might be getting those micronutrients I was missing - cravings disappeared.

Yesterday I harvested 4 lbs of tomatillos from my garden and made salsa verde in the Vitamix too - so easy!

Tired of being the world's police.  Atleast the rethugs will have to put their John Henry on any act, as you know they'd only use any show of force as something to blame Obama for.

Interesting about the green drinks and cravings.  The minute I read that I realized that I don't crave things I was before.  I drink regular coffee -- but had gotten into a really bad habit of needing Nestle's flavored creams.  Those have been sitting in the fridge most of the time now and I'm back to drinking only black coffee.  Thank goodness....I only drink soda ( I get Sierra Mist because it has regular table sugar in it ) maybe once a month or so.  I do get a sweet-tooth flare on occasion......and hoping it turns into less.

The Vita Mix does have great similarities....I think the major difference is the Vita-Mix by reversing blades will make hot or cold drinks and or dishes of food.  The Nutri-Bullet is small and compact, extremely easy to clean.....and you can of course, grind/extract everything.  Seeds, peels, etc.  I also put in hemp seeds, chia seeds, or any others along with the green foods to make the drink.  There is little other way for me to get the amt. of food pyramid foods that one is SUPPOSED to need daily....especially when Dh and I are on a lot of different schedules.

RL...great graphics.  I'm guilty of not reading like I should.  It used to come before or at least right along with major portions of my life..........I had a book propped open while I cooked, to read during t.v. commercials, to take to bed, and to work.  I couldn't seem to function without that fix.  Now.....hmmm, maybe I'm on the computer too much ( though I read a lot here ) as with all the other things I'm doing......there seems to be a time shortage for reading and the older I get the harder it seems to be to multi-task.  Like....reading and cooking has a deleterious effect somewhat on dinner around here.  I've had to change my ways....sigh !!!!

Question for Canadians...my 97 year old uncle wrote me today.  He had just returned from his cousin's 100th birthday (in B.C.).  "He got the usual congrats from the Queen, PM and Premier."   For turning 100, the Queen sends something?

Jackie - the only thing I'd say about drinking green (with fruit) is that one doesn't chew when consuming and all of the fructose and galactose hits the stomach, quickly.  Chewing initiates digestion and this might be too quick of a sugar load (though I suppose, not any worse than a soda drink) to the system.  Sometimes I'll add some almonds at the end and barely grind them in, so I'm chewing while drinking, if that makes sense.

If I see "impeach Obama" I just take it as an immediately identifiable trait of stupidity.  Kind of in the same category as being a "birther."
