Traii - sounds like a wonderful time with your friend and DS yesterday

Dakota - stay strong, you have all of us holding you up

Maria - so glad you were able to get away to Vegas, sounds wonderful

Edi - wonderful to have 'you' back, hope the 'insult' is now healed with no after effects, quite the picture you painted with your words

Nihahi - quite the storm that just went through! The rain was coming down sideways the wind was so strong and all my solar lanterns in my yard were lit up it was so dark

Liefie - what a great idea Nihahi had re: booties. This little one will be well outfitted - how wonderful. I am so glad that the dress worked out for you, sounds beautiful and you will have to post pictures of the long awaited day when it comes. Enjoy your family this weekend.

I'm kind of feeling like you described that you felt last year when you went dress shopping :(. Very fatigued this week post Herceptin last week, definitely side effects seem to be getting worse and lasting longer with each infusion. Counting down the days until my last one in October and trying to stay positive. Looking forward to a long weekend after work tomorrow to rest up. Sorry for being the Debbie-downer today.

    Take care everyone

Websister...yep, that was quite the storm last night. It hit us, literally, as hubby was walking in the door. I was getting worried, because from our place, I can see the weather coming from quite a distance away, and it didn't look good at all! Thankfully, no damage here, except for my balcony plants getting slightly shredded by the wind and rain, but that seems to be the norm this year! I could see lots of backyards getting things tossed over fences...not pretty. Hope you came through it ok. I wonder what our winter is going to be like this year????

You are NOT a downer....remember....it takes time, it takes LOTS of time...and you're still in treatment with the herceptin AND have back pain!!!!! Like Benny....you don't just sit on your duff either...even visiting with family and friends takes energy consumption....no matter how much you are enjoying it! Cut yourself some slack lady!!!!

Edi....congrats on tomorrow's cancerversary! You've come a long way!!!! Hope you are able to find something that hubby lets you do that puts you back in the "happy with people" mode. You are defo a "people person".

Maria...good to hear you had some "fun time" in Vegas!!! You are doing so great in getting through the "junk"....what a positive lady you are!

Movie....hang in there....stage 2 will be "done" soon, and you're gonna do great!!!!!

Got to dash....hi to everyone I've missed. Love to all.

    Hi Ladies,

No real news except I changed oncologist.  I have never been happy with this group so last Friday Mike and I picked up my records drove them to the new oncology office.  It was amazing!  We were just going to drop off my records so I could make an appt.  The nurse navigator just happen to be there she asked if I had time to chat.  So Mike and I spent an hour with her!  She went through my entire path report and treatment.  She was awesome.  Told me not to worry at all about the tumor marker, that is was fine.. Yes it was higher than the protocol but not by much and it did go down not up. Again she said a lot of Oncologist don't run them due to the fact that they can read high for any reason.  Not sure if my new one runs them I will find out Sept 10th.  I don't mind having a scan I just didn't want to have it done by my old oncologist.  Back in March I did go to another oncologist within the same group she agreed on the 6 treatments instead of 4, but I just think the entire group is not that great!

Out here in California Scripps is a wonderful place.  She is with Scripps and specializes in Breast and Ovarian Cancer.  My good friend went to her 10 years ago.  Debbie was 41 at the time and she was ER-PR- HER2+.  This was before Herceptin so Dr Kroener put her in the trial for Herceptin and she is a 10 year survivor!  She wanted me to go to this Dr when I was first diagnosed but my group was closer to home and I just thought it would be easier.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you have Tumor Markers done at your check ups?

OK enough about me.  I need to read to catch up on everyone.  Have a wonderful weekend.

    Love you all,

    Carla

Carla, so good to hear from you, and good news too. I'm glad you now have an onc that you are more comfortable with. Where I live in Canada they don't regularly do tumour markers at check-ups. Last time I saw my onc was in August last year, and he did not give any indication as to what further schedule or when I should check in with the cancer centre again. Told me I was 'cured', and bid me farewell. My primary care physician has been following up with mammograms and bloodwork as he sees fit. Cheers to good hubbies - mine also supported me 100% through all the cancer drama, the Rock of Gibraltar.

Websister, you are travelling a way tougher road than most of us with the Herceptin that goes on for so long. It must take its toll on you. It is only a few more weeks to Oct. 3, sister! After that you will regain your energy and strength, having beaten the beast fair and square. All this time I have always been just amazed by everything you get done on a regular basis, and how organized you are. You do way more than some healthy people, believe me. Read the updates on your blog too - so uplifting, and such wisdom that you share there. I so appreciate your gentle, dignified presence here, and we all love you!

Maria, so glad the end is in sight for you too.

Edi, happy you are getting out and having fun! Blankies a no go yet, maybe later this weekend. That Nihahi bread is really something, eh? Remember DH broke my mixer a few weeks ago trying to make sausage? We ordered the parts, it arrived, not the right parts, so last night bought a new mixer at Costco. Will give old one to new DIL when it is fixed, but I could not go any longer without. Will break it in (gently!) tomorrow with Nihahi bread - my kids just love it.

Kids and friends out on the boat having fun on the water, and I'm catching my breath here with all of you. Have a good weekend everybody!

Carla, just a quick check in to say that it sounds like you made the right move in switching oncologists. Also good that the nurse navigator was so positive. Think I mentioned previously that my MO is in the no tumor markers/ no routine scans camp - even though I'm considered high risk. Anyway, I'm checking in with both RO and MO again in October (saw them both earlier this month), so at least they're following me closely.

Websister, sorry you're feeling down. It does seem like the Herceptin treatment is fairly grueling - but wonderful that you have just over a month to go. You too Maria - almost there!

It's been very busy at work and I haven't been sleeping well for other reasons, so I'm pretty much dog tired. However, I'm heading to Canada tomorrow and am so looking forward to seeing Mum and my sisters.

Liefie, that was quite the bear story awhile back - your dog is a hero!

Wishing everybody in North America a wonderful long weekend - and those in the rest of the world a fantastic short weekend!

Carla - I don't have tumor markers done either. I had triple negative breast cancer and there are no reliable markers for this kind of cancer. My oncologist doesn't like to do scans etc. unless there is good reason. I am fine with that!! Good for you switching teams - it is so important to have faith in your medical team!

    Hi beautiful sisters xx

Adagio, love the way you say I HAD triple neg. That is my mistake I am still in the I have place. I will change as from now !! You are my hero Kiss

Carla, lovely to hear you being positive again. Laughing New team sound wonderful.Your DH is too.Tumour markers is a phrase I have not come across, sound as if they just cause worry and stress. Now enjoy your weekend.

Liefie, you too, glad you got your mixer. So much easier.

Nihahi, sitting here 12 months after DX and really can't believe it !!DH at work all day so going to just be me. Really must start some kind of excercise as couldnt get motivated before now. Wish we had scenery like yours but no excuse we DO have fields full of cattle and bubbling stream nearby.
My GD climbed one hell of a hill while on her holidays it took the little one two hours and even though she was in tears near the top she wouldnt give in. ED says it was worth it for the view. Will try and copy pic from facebook.

Websister, hope you are feeling less tired. As the girls say soon be at the end of this journey. You ARE an amazing woman.

Caitlin, lovely that you are getting away, have a fantastic time.

As it is the weekend sure you are all chilling and relaxing. Love to all xx

Hi Bellies......staggered in from the yard, sweaty, dirty, tired, and with cooked brain.....need to cool off....no cooking here.....what is everyone else having, and would you mind a few mor at your table(s)?

Edi.....I SO love your photos......and YOU are so darn cute! Wish you were MY neighbor.......then I would have excuse for not working in my yard!

Getting a little wound-up as my stage 2 DIEP surgery is scheduled for this next Tuesday, Sept. 3rd......afraid that I will have complications like I did for stage 1.....logically, I know it's unlikely, but emotionally.......not so sure......

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and tell you all that I couldn't do this whole BC thing without you lovely, wonderful women......I gather a lot of strength from ALL of you....sorry we are here, but very glad of my companions!

You know the old cartoons that have one of the characters step on a rake that then rises up and smacks him in the head? Well................I now am sporting a goose egg on my forehead.......that's all I'm saying about it......... :)

    Love to all.....

Sure looks like the wedding was lots of fun.

Movie, wishing you a speedy recovery from stage 2 this week, will be in your pocket.

Jo6202, wishing you a speedy recovery as well.

Job6202, best wishes for a speedy recovery. I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but it slipped my mind what surgery you were going to get - was it lumpectomy/mastectomy? Anyway, you rest, sleep lots, and heal up.

Movie, oh no! A goose egg? Hopefully it goes down quickly. I have such mixed feelings about the second surgery that I am also facing in January to get a 'fipple' - just want to be DONE with this @#$%! DH will probably have to drag me there kicking and screaming, so I get how you are feeling. I now also have a tender spot under my left arm on the side of the DIEP breast - discovered it yesterday as I was kneeling in front of the oven to check the bread. Feeling worried about it, and will probably get an X-ray. Will this never end?

Caitlin, hoping you are enjoying your visit with your family here in Canuck land, that they spoil you, and also make you rest a little.

Maria, aren't those hot flushes just something? Some days I hardly have any, and some days the sweat just keeps pouring - what can I say? My new best friend is a fan . . . LOL. Take it easy; chemo has a way of wringing every ounce of energy out of you.

Edi, thanks for the pictures - you looked positively smashing at that wedding, as did the others! Also loved the cartoon. So descriptive of what we go through, eh? And we still keep slogging on - we are so amazing!!!!

DS and SIL went out on a fishing boat at 4.30 this morning taking part in a salmon derby. SIL has high hopes of catching the biggest fish, and winning the $10 000 prize - yeah right! They left here armed with lots of sandwiches, coffee, bait, fishing rods - hope they catch something we can barbecue tonight. A small salmon or halibut will do - lol.

A good Sunday to you all!

Maria, your pics from vegas on f/b are stunning, you look like a movie star.

Caitlin, hope your family time is good.

Nihahi, beautiful photos - no place like the Rockies! I did not get any exercise this weekend other than running up and down in my kitchen baking and cooking . . . lol.

Movie, how are you feeling? Lamb to the slaughter? That's how I'm going to feel - lol.

Edi, boys were out on that boat for twelve hours, and came back exhausted with three beautiful salmon, the biggest which weighed in at 24 pounds. SIL, a very experienced fisherman, landed the big one. He won a fishing derby here last year on the morning of his wedding, and appeared at the altar that afternoon with his face radiant and bright pink from sunburn - lol. No prizes yesterday unfortunately, but they had loads of fun, and we heard many stories about the ones who got away. Barbecued fresh salmon last night - delish. SIL got on the plane to Edmonton this afternoon with his big fish in a cooler - lol. I think he enjoyed the visit.

    Job6202, how are you doing?

Traii and dakota, how are you ladies your awfully quiet.

Got out of the house today, went to my mom's so I could visit with my aunt and uncle from Kansas. It was lots of fun we ate to much and played canasta all evening. My uncle is losing his memory it's very sad to see, but so glad I got to spend time with them.

    Love to all of you

Nihahi, thank you for reminding me of Dakota. Sincerely hoping things will work out for you, Dakota, and that you can start a new life with your kids. Can't be easy at the moment, and we're here for you. BIG HUGS!

Maria, glad you had a good visit with your family. According to the Internet the largest king salmon(chinook) ever caught weight around 97 lbs. My son caught one a few years ago that weighed 34 lbs. We have mainly chinooks at the moment, and have different kinds of salmon at different times of the year. They swim up the rivers all the way from the ocean to spawn in the lakes. With research it was determined that a salmon will come back to the exact place/bush/cove on the banks of the lake where it was born. It is quite touching to watch them fight their way upstream with waterfalls in their way, and bears waiting to catch them in the shallows. Only the strongest make it to the lakes to lay their eggs, and then they die after all that effort. Sad, really. It is an absolute mystery of nature how they manage to find their way back to 'their' lake after spending five or six years in the ocean. Still blows my mind after all this time.

Dear Bellies......on my way ( DO feel like a lamb to slaughter....... : /. ). Have a date with PS........quite nervous due to lots of trauma experienced at Stage 1, but trying to remember Nihahi's advice: I SHOULD DO FINE! :). Unfortunately, timing is everything, and our DIEP thread has had some MAJOR trauma going on......it's been hard NOT to let it affect me......I trust my PS completely, it's my wonky body that I am leery of! Keep me in your thoughts.......
