Tarhee & All Ye Girly-Lipstick-Lovers,
HERE YA GO:
Can take this info. to the drugstore...got' em at CVS & Wallgreens.
I bought L'Oreal: Infallible lipsticks...2 reg. looking tubes/clear top/silver tubes that last all day, and 1 different lipstick that's in a nifty silver/white small square compact--one side small lip sponge tip/other side clear conditioning balm to go on top/they slide in&out of case. OMG!!! LOVE IT! So great for my purse AND the lipstick stays on for FOREVER! Ya can't even get the stuff OFF your lips UNLESS you use waterproof makeup remover! I use a non-oil glycerin remover for ALL of these lipsticks...takes it off like MAGIC!!...:) Waterproof makeup Wipes do NOT do the trick on the compact style one either!! Maybe cuz not enough remover on the wipe. I call it my car paint lipstick...;)
Maybelline: SuperStay14 Hour lipstick is Awesome also! Need serious remover for that sucker too!
And Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede lipstick is grand! As is their Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (crayon type deal)!
ALL of these lipsticks stay on ALL DAY...I promise...:)
Whew! All Done! Please share if you try these...or if ya already have them!
Maybe I'll post the COLORS I bought another time...;) -
violet_1 - Does it look dry? Sometimes those long lasting ones look dry at the end of the day.
-
Ooo, I'm a lipstick addict -- I used to be so bad, I couldn't leave the house w/out wearing it, not even to go the grocery store, hah. I'm not quite so vain now, but I still have a vast collection, esp. in dark colors. My fave. is Sephora's house brand -- rich colors & always something new each season, decent staying power, doesn't feather, creamy, & only costs $12 a tube (midrange between drugstore prices & the dept. store brands).
But my #1 absolute fave, my default lippie, the one I love above all others is Chanel Vamp. I keep hearing it's going to be discontinued, & I swear they start that rumor so ppl like me will stock up (which I do
).
-
Oooh Chanel has the BEST reds!
-
Violet, that's the L'oreal I use. Infallible. I swear by it too! A fan for 4 yrs. plus the shiny case works as a mirror to apply!
Global, it does not look dry. You can reapply the clear gloss stick all day to keep it moist.
Most of the colors are plummy/natural. There's not really a true red. (I like Yves St Laurent reds) I just bought L'oreal Garnet (750) which isn't really garnet red but is more like a pink. Hibiscus is another color I like. The color names don't really match the hues IMO. I occasionally buy others, but Violet, we are both in the same fan club. :-)
Batcat, I love the Sephora lipsticks too. Really a bargain, especially online markdowns. -
I always use Maybelline 14 hour. It is amazing and stays on all day. You just have to make sure your lips are not dry and peeling when you apply it or it does go on funny. Otherwise it is awesome.

I was happy to realize today that I was agonizing over a decision that had nothing to do with BC! After rads today I poped into Winners and saw that they were starting to put out their boots. They had some short leopard print uggs that I was planing to go back and purchase once they had all the stock out. I love leopard print ( the downstairs of my house is decorated in it) and I love Uggs ( I know lots of people hate them). My question is; at 42 am I too old to be running around in leopard print boots ? I already have the short black sparkle ones but I do love the leopard ones too!!! What do you think?
-
Hi Shoppygirl- I love leopard too. I have some killer leopard short boots- and pillows in my family room. also a long leopard coat (fake fur of course). I dont wear that with the boots, a little TOO much overkill.
Ronda I am just back from a business tirp and catching up on a couple of pages and saw your post about not feeling up to dressing up much to go out. I am really sorry.
I wish I could come over and bring us a tea party, we could wear our finest glitzy stuff right there on your couch.
For now a hug through cyberspace will have to do.
Hugs to all -
((Hugging everybody back, through a tangle of shopping bags))
Leopard is always appropriate for brave beautiful women!! -
Thanks ladies. I think I will have to go and get them! Hubby is going to Vancouver on business so I won't even have to smuggle them in the house!
Hugs back at you! -
Ah yes, the smuggling thing- you girls are definitely of like minds, I do this ALL the time! And I remember Ronda's ingenious "two pair of shoes in one box trick" Haha. Brilliant.
We luckily have a powder room with an enclosed shower (that is never used so is dry) RIGHT inside the back door from the garage, so my trick is to hang the Macy's bag in that shower then go into the living room and say "honey I'm home"- empty handed. LOL.
The tags come off and the transfer is slyly made to my closet later.
I am not proud of this behavior but there you have it!
Shopaholic trick- hiding the goods???? -
Love it!!!
-
Sciencegal, LOVE IT!!
Genius!
Don't know if anyone else experiences this, but when I Christmas shop, I inevitably find things I like, for me!! I used to resist this temptation but no more. Bonus: No peeking/no questions allowed when I bring home shopping bags at the holidays. 😉🎄 -
Rhonda
I do exactly the same thing! We deserve it! -
Shoppy:
No. You aren't too old for the boots. I could KICK myself for NOT buying the most AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS *HUNTER GREEN BEARPAW (like UGGS but 1/2 the price/great quality!!!) boots last year at the end of the season!!!!
AND they were on SALE! AND I KNEW I'd NEVER see/find that color again! AND they were IN my size!!! (small feet/hard to find sizes)!!!
AND I KNEW I'd regret not buying them...AND I was RIGHT! Shet!
GET the boots!...LOL!
Violet -
Thanks Violet.
So I made the excuse that I had to go to Target and drive 30 min to the Winners that had the boots and they were all gone!!!! Boo Hoo!!! I did try another location but they did not have them. Oh well. I texted one if my girlfriends who is also an avid Winners shopper to keep an eye out for them for me. Instead I bought a beautiful pair of black tall boots with pewter studs down the back. DH is still here till tomorrow so I stashed them in the laundry room!!!!! This is why I don't ask him to do laundry. Lol!!!! -
Hi Shoppy-at least you got SOME boots! Those sounds super cool.
I love our strategies for getting the goods into the house past the husbands- as if they would REALLY care, considering what we are all going through.
But for me the problem is just the sheer volume! haha. Could be alarming. But hey, all on sale! -
Did someone say LEOPARD? When she was a teenager, DD wanted to know when I would stop wearing Leopard prints. I told her when they stop selling it... Then I'll stop wearing it!!!!
At 29, bless that daughter of mine, now she ADORES leopard on me... It's become my signature.... Along with the brightest colored leather racing gloves... They keep the eyes looking up.... Away from my orthopedic comfort shoes.... -
Vor,
I also like leopard/cheetah...especially in shoes!
AND to Everyone:
Did your moms also hide shopping spree stashes sometimes? Mine did...;)
Um, I just got back from Nordstrom Rack...;)
Violet -
Violet.. My mom is a retired nurse. Her clothing sprees consisted of buying new white uniforms and girdles. When she retired and she finally had a chance to splurge on real clothes, it occurred to me, she wasn't much of a shopper and she was missing a "good eye" when it came to fashion.
The DH never minds my shopping. However, most of what I wear, he doesn't "get." But after 4 decades of knowing me, at this point he's given up criticizing my taste in fashion. The fact that the DD likes what I wear, asks me to look for things for her to wear, tells me that I probably look okay when I step outside the door.
I also have a rule in my home so there's no clutter. For every bag that comes in, one bag goes out. So the DH sees everything coming in and going out.
Finally, the DD also wears shoes from New York's premiere comfort shoe store. When they run a really good sale, we're on it! Often when we leave the store with as many as 8 pairs of shoes, we'll look like tourists as we head back towards the train! After our little romp the DH won't question the bill. He'll only ask if we got him anything!
Speaking of which, he's usually over the moon when I find him something that he likes. He NEVER LIKES CLOTHES SHOPPING! If I can get him into a department store, he sits in the shoe department while waiting for me! In Nordstrom's Rack, he sits on a chair by the fitting room. He's IMPOSSIBLE...but if that's his worst character flaw....I think I'll keep him! At least I get to choose what he wears, so I can't complain that he's missing a fashion eye or that his choice of clothes are out of style! -
Vor,
Too funny! I always dressed/shopped for my men-- soontobeExHusband, and now my serious "Beau"...;) Hey! I got the Beau into Nordstrom for the 1st time when we had 2 summer weddings to go to recently.
Ahem...he came out w a Hugo Boss suit and a Burberry tie, ROTFL!! Shoes, socks, belt,
Pocket Square!, among other things!
I used Nordstrom's personal shopper service--we had a ball!!! He's now hooked on the personal shopper thing for anything just like me...:) ALL FREE!

So here is my long rant!
Well this week I made some "I'm pissed off at my doctors" purchase! Two weeks ago I saw my oncologist for my checkup after my last chemo. Not only did he make me wait almost two hours past my appointment time when he finally came into the room he just hovered at the door, handed me my prescription for Tamoxafin and tried to leave ! So I made him wait so I could ask him some of the questions I had. My main concern is that on my initial pre chemo scans they found a single 6mm lung nodule that we are doing the 6 month watch and wait on. Well it has been 6 months and I want another ct scan!! They have all told me it is scar tissue but i need to know for sure!! So when I reminded him about that he was like "oh yeah, we should check on it". He seems so unconcerned but I am VERY concerned! Anyway. I go on next Thursday for the scan but the crazy thing is that they made me an appointment on Oct. 4th to get the results! I can't wait that long!! So I thought I would ask my radiologist oncologist about getting the results. So yesterday I had my appointment with her and I waited 30 min past my appointment time only to find out that she is in vacation for the next two weeks!!!! Crazy. Anyway I can ask her during my appt on Sept 11th as she will be back then but I mean really!!!! I am glad they are all so unconcerned about me and think I will be fine but I don't feel the same way. Anyway all this stress required a trip to a Home Goods store where I purchased two leopard print velvet pumpkins and three sparkly orange pumpkins for my living room! At least I have them too look at to calm my nerves! Geez!!! -
Shoppy,
You made me laugh! 20 pts!...:)
But that really sucks!!! Just keep pushing the bastards and complain to the Supervisor &/or the hospital social worker! Get the SW to work for YOU...on your behalf!
Glad you got your pumpkin revenge -
Thanks Violet!!
If I don't get my results on Sept 11th I certainly will be laying the hammer down! Then I will probably go shopping!! Lol!! -
Shoppygirl, you shouldn't have to wait more than a day or 2 for results. When you go in for your scan, ask the people working there for the phone number to call so that you can check the next day and find out whether the scan has been read. I've been told things like "Call tomorrow after 1, the report should be ready then." Your RO will just be delivering the report that someone else wrote, or at least that's the way it has been for me. If you call the next day and your scan hasn't been read yet, someone can probably tell you which doctor is reading scans that day, so you at least have a name, so when you call back (again) you can ask if Dr. so-and-so has read your scans and when can you get a copy of the report. You may have to take a trip back to the hospital to get the report, but you can probably get your results pretty quickly. I am only speaking from my experience. But I learned early on that with all my PET/CT scans, my oncologist only delivers the news, the scans were read by someone else right away. Those scans and the accompanying report are YOURS, it's your body. I learned this when I was first diagnosed and needed to get CT results to 3 different oncologists, and all I had to do was stop by the next day pick up 4 copies of the reports AND the scans on a disk. (One was for me.) You might also ask the CT scanning people when you go for your scan whether scar tissue is easily distinguishable from other things on a CT scan. The last thing you need is a CT scan report that doesn't clarify the area of concern, which could give you more anxiety. Hooray for leopard skin pumpkins. Pagan holidays are such fun!

Thanks Rhonda for all the great advice.
I was very lucky that my surgeon that ordered the first round of tests for me actually called me at home a few days after the tests. Unfortunatly I don't deal with her anymore. Due to the wait times in Calgary I am being sent to another hospital (not the cancer center) to have the scan. I believe that the oncologist looks it up on line to see the results. I did not know you could pick up copies of reports, I am not even sure if they do that here. I will be sure to ask. I did ask my oncologist what the nodule looked like, if it looked like cancer and he said it looked like nothing. Just a small white blob. I was told that they check it every six months for 2 years and if it has not changed then it is considered to be nothing. I have been told by many people that lung nodules are common so I guess I just have to hope for the best. -
"Oh yeah. We should check on it."
Dang. Ya think? Sad that you had to remind him too! Ugh I hate doctors like that. It's like we're talking cancer here, jackass, not the flu. Zero bedside manner.
OK leopard velvet...pumpkins? I had to Google it to see what they look like.
I like leopard coats.
-
I know global!!!' I didn't even know it was there until that scan. It was at the bottom of the report in small print. He actually has been a pretty good dr and is rated in the top three in Calgary but I have expressed to him and all my drs how concerned I am about this but no one else is!!! They tell me they see these little single nodules all the time. Well it's not their life they are dealing with so easy for them to be so relaxed about it.!!!
I love leopard coats too! I have a brown one and a grey one. I am looking for a new one though!! I think i should reward myself with one if the ct turns out ok. If not it can be a pity present!! The leopard pumpkins are quite big. They can sit on my floor! My DH came home from a trip last night and begged me not to buy anymore leopard!!!! Lol!! Have a good weekend. -
Ahhhh... Used to have a faux forest green leopard coat. Kept me toasty warm on the little league baseball field...til June each year...until both sons finished middle school... That's a long, long, time considering they have a sister in the middle! I'm tellin' you.... That coat was so warm and got so much wear... it didn't owe me a dime! When I finally found a new faux leopard coat that spoke to me... I wanted to give the old one a decent burial! DD is NOW annoyed with me for putting out to green pastures...she THINKS it would have looked good on her now! Ha!
-
Sounds amazing! I think leopard is always in !!!
