She will always be our proud intelligent lioness!

WTF ... I am stunned. And so very saddened by this news. I hope Pamela was at peace and her family was by her side.
She will be sorely missed ... we all loved her so much.
love to her family and friends,
Bren

Very sad news indeed.
-
Much love to you All who are mourning Athena! We are with you in your sadness.
-
i just learned this. I can't stop crying. I will never see a picture of a lion or a lioness again without thinking of her.
I will miss her intelligence and her wit. I will miss her strong and beautiful convictions. I only knew her here, and I so deeply regret that I never had the chance to meet her in person.
I am diminished by her loss.
Goodbye, dear dear Athena. You will live on in those who loved you.
-
May I say to her friends here, I'm so sorry.
-
Sandy, I'm with you -- Athena will be front and centre in every lion(ess) pic we see from now on. I too am so sad not to have met her. Had hoped she would come north a couple of years ago but alas, she couldn't manage it. She was always such a beautiful bright light among us; we shall mourn together.
I so hate this f'ing disease.
-
Sooooo sad to read this news. My deepest sympathies to Athena's family! She will be so missed.
Athena was one of the main reasons I started to participate in this thread. Her incredible intellect and her similar political sensibilities were appreciated by everyone here. She had a love of fashion.....from Kate Spade to Chanel and a love of art....William Turner, Braque, Van Gogh, among others...a love of history.....one of her favorites was Elizabeth I; and she generously shared her knowledge and passions with us. She most likely had many other passions and talents that we were not aware of. We were blessed to have known her in this little corner of the cyber world. Rest in Peace, mighty Athena.
-
Soar free my friend. The world was a better place because you were here ... and will be a lesser place without you.

-
RIP dear lioness, we will miss you.
-
This is so sad. Sending prayers and raising a glass to our Lioness. You will be missed.
-
Athena - I'm in disbelief and this makes no sense to me? I hope her family knows how much she was admired and loved her at BCO. Everyday I would watch for her return, never giving up hope. She was the best combination of strong, intelligent, humble, loving, supportive and entertaining. Her pride is in mourning.

No words can express how I and all of us must feel - just tears.
-
Many, many tears!
-
People at work are asking if I'm spreading germs thinking I have a cold - NOT - just crying
-
So,So, Devastated at this horrible news! Athena will be missed so very much by me and all who knew her here. Knowing she no longer will be in pain helps a tiny bit, but a big EMPTY will be here always
Condolences to her family, who were Blessed by her presence. May she rest in Peace---kad2kar

I can't believe it. I just can NOT believe it. SO FAST. Pamela, peace and love and awe for your spirit, your humor, your courage, your LOVE of FASHION - God, I just can not believe this. Almost too stunned to cry. So damn fast - and maybe that's part of the blessing. But how can it be? How can this be...so fast...
-
I am completely devastated by the news of Athena's passing. Athena will definitely be missed here and everywhere. My deepest condolences to her family.
She was such an amazing, strong and intelligent woman.

I am just in shock. Athena you will be missed.
Mary -
What on earth? I am in complete shock (and in tears) - this damned disease!
-
I wanted to post here to offer my condolences to all of you who loved Athena so much. Sometimes she and I saw eye-to-eye perfectly - over the years we had some wonderful long PM exchanges - and sometimes not so much. But I loved and admired her too. I was shocked when she was diagnosed with mets, but I thought she would roar on for a long time. I am just stunned now to hear that she's gone.
I will miss her.
-
I can't attend the memorial service, but in Athena's memory, I am changing my avatar. I did this once before - when she was absent from the board due to a ban.
Athena - I will remember.
-
I'm so sorry to hear about Athena the Lovely Lioness.
My condolences to all of you who were so bonded with her.
I loved her fashions, her humor, and her kindness to me.
ROOOOOOOOOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR -
We have lost a queen among women and the lioness of our pride.
-
There are no words to express how I feel right now. My heart is so heavy with grief. My sympathy to her family and to all on the boards who loved our Athena so much!!
-
Condolences to all who loved her. She will be missed.

Here is a picture from December 2010 from a girls' lunch out. L-R: RetiredLibby, Athena, Enjoyful. We had a most excellent time - spent about 4 hours in the restaurant!
We will miss her.

-
Nothing to say, just checking in to see how everyone is...still so stunned, too sad to even be angry, yet...
thanks rl, that is a very special picture...
-
I have changed my avatar to the constellation Leo in honor of our lioness, who has returned to the stars from which we are made.

L - that is SO SO SO SO beautiful. Thank you, for sharing that picture too. I deeply understand the reluctance to share too much on this site, and appreciate, really appreciate, that picture.
