-
I'm right behing you girls on October 9th! Exchange surgery is set for Tuesday...getting excited!
-
Getting excited for you too, Tami! You will feel so much better. Good luck on Tuesday! I'll be saying a prayer for you!
-
Thanks Pam!
-
Just had my exchange, will wait for the PS's thumbs up that I am good to go before making the appointment with Vinnie, but from what I see here, looks like October/November? So excited!
-
Hi ladies! i have a question about Vinnie...I live close to Baltimore. I already have recon nips done, is it worth it to get the areolas tattooed by Vinnie or just as good to have done in PS office? maybe only worth it to go to Vinnie for 3D nips which i wouldn't need? thanks!
-
Joellelee,
It depends on what you want. I had some pink color added to my reconstructed nipples and aerolas at my plastic surgeon's office. I thought if I wanted something more realistic looking as far as the coloring went, I would visit Vinnie on one of my trips up to Marland to see my daughter.
It has been 3 years since the pink color went on and I decided that is all I need. I never wear a bra and the pale pink color doesn't show through under my thinnest tops. I am afraid that any darker a color would show.
-
Joellelee... I will be having Vinnie do the tats even though I have reconstructed nipples.... Color, position, and real-to-life 3D additions will be my cherry on top.
-
Does insurance cover a Vinnie visit? Does anyone have his contact info? thanks so much!
-
No, your insurance wil probably not cover a visit to Vinnie's shop location. Insurance does cover tattoos done in a plastic surgeon's office.
I believe that when people go to New Orleans to have Vinnie do the tattoos, there is insurance coverage. However, there is still a hefty copay.
-
I believe that if you go to Vinnie's shop he gives you a receipt which you can submit to your insurance company. If you go to NOLA, they do it for you.
Just google Vinnie Myers Tattoo and you'll find him.
-
I am going to Vinnie is sept because of all the great reviews here plus the proof is on his site he does great work. I have recon nips but one is smaller so I am hoping he can make them appear a little more even. and i want everything as realistic as possible not just a pink circle, I want shading and demention. Plus I love NOLA so its a nice place to vacation for a few days. I'll let you know how it comes out when I get back
-
Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Nola?
-
If you look at the breastcenter.com website they list the hotels that give medical discounts. The Bienville House is right at the edge of the quarter and is really nice. We stayed there before Stage 1 and then went to Homewood Suites after. The medical discount really helps!
-
Hey girls... I'm going to Vinnie in September in Finksburg, MD. He's closer to me there. Thanks for all the good info on this board. Look forward to hearing about everyone's experience with nip tattoos ... I have nipple recon also.
-
Thanks Marty I think that discount is only for breast center patients not for tattoos at least that's what they told me when I made the appt perhaps ill try the hotels and see
-
I second what kayb said!
-
My appt is in august with vinnie. I got mine covered by insurance. I simply called my insurance up and asked them where I could get my tattoes. and gave them vinnies info in finksburg. they reviewed it and later said they would cover it since there was no one n area that could do it. None of the local PS's will touch me since I've had work done else where.
I had my original Mast with TE in NYC. and called and asked one of the local PS if he would do my recon. answer was no. so am sure answer would be no to tats
my appt is at 1230 I hope he has his lunch before. what happens at appt?//// do you get to look through book to see what you want?
-
Thanks for the tip ill tell them that when I book. Anyone have a hotel in Nola they love? I want this trip to be a celebration of the end
-
Hotel monteleone is very nice. You can get a discount there also. They have a rooftop pool and fitness center. I preferred it over bienville house but bienville house was cheap ($89 per night). And both are in the quarter. So kind of depends how much time you plan to spend at the hotel.
-
I've been calling all day and only get Vinnie's recording. How long has it taken for y'all to get someone on the phone to book the appointment?
-
Fredntan - there's no book to look through at Vinnie's. Before he ever touches a needle, he will spend a lot of time talking to you about what you want as far as size, color and any concerns you have. He'll work to come up with colors that match your skin tone if you have a bilat, or to match the existing real nip if you've had a uni. The amount of time he spends talking with you before the tattoo process starts takes almost as much time as the actual tattooing process - he'll really work to make sure you know exactly what you're getting before he starts to apply the tattoos. He's a nice guy and doesn't make you feel strange or self-conscious at all. My dh sat in with me during the whole process, and the three of us had a great time chatting.
-
Natsfan, did you do 3d with or without nipples? How long after your last stage or procedure did you wait?
Thanks much -
Hi ladies - I'm heading out to see Vinnie on October 23. I'm trying to figure out my flights. Since the appt is at 10:45 I need to fly in the day before. There is a nonstop back home at 4 p.m. and 7 pm. (plane change at 7). Which would you suggest and how long does it take? Thanks so much for your advice. I'm feeling really good about this and ready to leave BC behind!
-
Thanks kayb!
-
I flew from DFW at noon for a 3:30 appt at NOLA with Vinnie. They will have a car and driver waiting for you and it only takes about 20 min to get to the center. I was scheduled to fly at at 7:40 that night back to DFW but was able to get on the 6:00 flight. Super easy.
-
Catie - sorry for the delayed response - I hadn't checked this thread for a while. I did not have any surgical nip recon - I just went with tattoos only. I waited several months before getting the nips, but that was just me. My ps gave me to go ahead to do it sooner if I wanted (I think 3 months after my final surgery) but I just never got around to it.
-
ok decided to drive to NOLA from KC a days drive. Gonna spend a day there before the tatoo and 2 days after. I am very excited to celebrate with some yummy meals and hurricanes. My appointment is Spet. 10 I am going to book my stay tomorrow. I ahve two suggestions for hotels. Anyone else have a great place to stay in the french Quarter?
-
Hotel Monteleone is great.
-
I'm staying at the Hotel Monteleone for my Sept 12 appointment. Flying in Sept 11 and staying till the 15. I'm hoping I can do a lot more things this time, since I'm not having any surgery on this go round.
