    Thank-you, all Smile

Regarding racism... as a youth I associated equally with people of all races - and I credit the religion I was raised in for that (everything else about it was pretty much a negative, but racially it was positive).  As my immediate community and school was pretty much all white, the only exposure I had with people of other races was at church.  That said - my father would often use derogatory terms for people of other races, so I usually considered him to be prejudiced.  One of the proudest moments I had, though, was during a conversation I overheard between my dad and our neighbor.

The neighbor was ranting about how "all the blacks (didn't use that word, though) should go back where they came from".  My dad (who was not real well known for holding either his tongue or his temper) said, they didn't even come here willingly - and if they should go back to where they came from then so should you and I and every other American who isn't Indian (this was before anyone said Native American).  It was just him and the neighbor talking over the fence - he didn't know anyone could hear him.  My dad was a great guy - I'll miss him until the day I die.

    Hello Everyone!

Sure is hot and humid today.  And I had a lot of mowing to do.  What a mess!

I'm so excited ... I'm going to see my wonderful friends this weekend.  Tim promised he'd get home so he could watch the dogs for me ... sure hope he makes it!

Gumby ... I hope your appointment went well today.

Chaplain ... I've been missing you!

Athena ... Thinking of you, as I know you would have said something about us being on page 1,500 yesterday!  I sure hope your pain is easing.

Blue ... Hope you're feeling okay today.

    hugs to all,

    Bren

Sun - i know how you feel about implants.  I  agree that women don't really get the straight scoop on not reconstructing.  Here's where it gets infuriating: women are pushed into additional surgeries that increase risk and are uncomfortable and cost a lot more at the same time we are hearing the mantra that medical costs are much too high and there have to be cuts.

Really hot here in New jersey. Hanging near the air conditioning.

Excited to see friends this weekend.

Bren - I haven't been yet.  It's 1:00 here.  My mammo is at 2:20, blood draw @ 3:00 and MO appt at 4:00.

Sun and Alexandria, I agree.  They didn't have to push me, as I wouldn't have chosen to not have reconstruction (with what I know now, I might have, but at the time - no way) but they certainly do not give ANY of the downsides in the spiels.

BTW - for anyone who is interested in our house travails - we passed on the last house I told y'all about.  Picked another, passed on it and picked yet another.  The inspection is tomorrow morning, and I am PRAYING that this one works out.  I LOVE this house.  I told hubby that if this one didn't work, that I'm done.  I just cannot look anymore.  It's making both of us CRAZY!!!!

Gumby ... keeping everything crossed that your dream house passes inspection.  I'll be thinking about you this evening for your MO appointment.

Sunny ... really am happy that you're happy about getting the implants out.  I think they would be really bothersome.  Implants because of reconstruction are very different than the kind you get if you want big boobs.

The dogs are both hiding under my desk.  Lots of thunder going on right now.  Glad we walked earlier today.

    hugs,

    Bren

Rush Limbaugh Uses N-Word On Air, Says He Can Say It Because ‘It Isn’t Racist’ Anymore (VIDEO)

Author: Stephen D. Foster Jr. July 17, 2013 1:27 am

    Caricature by @ Donkey Hotey’s

So go ahead, Rush. Use it. I dare you. Say it all the time and let’s see if Republicans are able to denounce you. Caricature by @ Donkey Hotey’s

Rush Limbaugh has said many stupid and hateful things throughout his career on the radio. But this newest rant exposes just how bad he, and people like him, want to use the N-word again.

During his show on Tuesday, Limbaugh declared that he will now use the N-word freely because he says “it’s not racist.” He claims he can do this because of an interview Zimmerman trial witness Rachel Jeantel gave on CNN with Piers Morgan. In that appearance, Jeantel told Morgan that the term “nigga” is used in friendly terms among African-American youths in an effort to take power away from the N-word.

In response, Limbaugh decided that if African-Americans can say the word to each other, then white racists should be able to use the word to and not be labeled as racists.

“So, ‘nigga’ with an ‘a’ on the end. Well, I think I can now. Isn’t that the point? Cos it’s not racist. That’s the point. I could be talking about a male. A Chinese male, the guy at the laundromat. I could be talking about a man. That’s what she said it means.”

It figures that of all people, Rush Limbaugh would be the one to declare the N-word an acceptable term for white people to use. The problem is that it is very much NOT acceptable. Just like Rush’s use of the word ‘slut’ over a year ago to describe women, the N-word is a word that should never be used on the air. Yes, African-American young people use the word in an affectionate manner, but only when they are talking to each other. That’s because they aren’t using the word in the same way that a person like Rush Limbaugh or any other southern racist uses it.

Despite what conservatives want us all to believe, racism is not dead in America. Far from it. In fact, racism has revealed itself more strongly since President Obama first won election in 2008. That’s when conservatives decided that they couldn’t contain their racism any longer and began revealing it publicly like never before. All because they couldn’t handle an African-American sitting in the White House. And the issue of race has become even more heightened because of the ‘not guilty’ verdict delivered in the George Zimmerman trial.

By using the N-word on a regular basis, Limbaugh would not only be heightening racial tensions even more, he’d demonstrate the overt racism of the Republican Party, which he is the de facto leader of. He’d also be committing career suicide. I can’t imagine any respectable business or corporation remaining as a sponsor of Limbaugh’s show once he begins using the most hateful and racist term ever invented to degrade another human being.

So go ahead, Rush. Use it. I dare you. Say it all the time and let’s see if Republicans are able to denounce you. And that refuse deserve to be labeled a racist coward. Say it all the time and let’s see who remains as a listener and a sponsor so that we will know who the racists are and who we should boycott in protest. I dare you, Rush.

Want to help take Rush Limbaugh off the air and make him pay for his hate, sexism, and racism? There are several ways.

You can sign this Limbaugh Sponsor Petition.

You can join the Boycott Rush Limbaugh Facebook Page.

You can visit the Stop Rush Database.

    You can email the FCC.

And you can sign this petition to remove Rush Limbaugh’s bust from the Missouri State Capitol.

GG...if you want paradise, there are a couple of homes for sale where we are.  Bring your boat and your fishing poles.  The biggest decisions to make are whether we swim in the pool or the lake.  I just came back from watching the sailing club doing their course.  Just beautiful.

Happy Boring GG - isn't it amazing how GOOD IT FEELS when the scans/doc visits are over.

Tried to listen to the Rush tape, but honestly, just could NOT.  He seems so mean spirited, cruel, can't imagine why anyone would listen -

But then, I guess not eveyone enjoys Garrison Keiller as much as I do Laughing

Meant to say - if anyone is diabetic, or borderline Type II - since stopping Arimidex (after 5 1/2 years, and yes, that 1/2 is as important to me as it is to the 4 year old who gives her accurate age) WinkAND stopping using Agave, my fasting blood sugar is fabulously within "normal" range - as in below 100.  Amazing - that's the only thing that's changed - and it was well up to 135 for the past few years.  Whew...

I certainly bought the HYPE about Agave being "low glycemic" - which it may be, but so high in FRUCTOSE, and worse than honey.  I now use honey in place of agave in my tea, I drink green tea all day, and the improvement in my energy levels, low blood sugar levels is wonderful!  Another lesson to watch out for "marketing hype."

GG great news! I have mixed feelings about these scans. For a month (or two) before they're done, I suffer from escalating scanxiety, which is really unpleasant. But when I get the boring news, knock on wood, I feel such relief that the anxiety seems almost worth it!

BLUE - you always find the BEST BEST BEST - I've learned to SWALLOW the tea in my mouth b4 I read your posts.

Great day - only going to be 100 todayLaughing  I know, I know, everybody is experiencing this tropical stuff.

Must say, tho, it's really almost pleasant here...cabin is so small, all windows open, breezes, lots of HUGE trees around, shades down of course, the sun if brutal - so different than being in an urban area.  Sungold tomatoes finally bearing fruit. YEAH -

Thinking of ATHENA in DC in this heat - oh, my, hope she find a shady acacia ( sp?) tree...
