I was just reading an article describing Justice Scalia's "scathing" dissent of today's decisions.  He decries the fact that the Supreme Court is making decisions which rightly belong to Congress.  However, he had no problem with his court making the decision yesterday about the VRA, which of course was a Congressional act, renewed and passed umpteen times BY CONGRESS since it first came into being.

You'd think someone supposedly smart/clever enough to serve on the Supreme Court would also see the ridiculousness of those remarks......

Canada has a Supreme Court, whose Chief Justice is a woman.  I have no idea her politics, nor those of her fellow 8 justices -- as it should be.  And oh yes, they MUST retire at age 75, although most retire before reaching that age.

GG -- I don't think there's much difference in temp between Seattle and VictoriaWink.  Even considering the difference between Fahrenheit and Celcius LOL.

The SCOTUS decision in regards to voting rights isn't going to do anything other than delay the inevitable.  The US will not just be run by the right side white guys forever.  The huddled masses yearning to breathe free were not only from Europe Laughing and people are people regardless of the color of their skin, gender, height, weight, age, religious preference, political views, education or any other thing.

I WANT TO BUY A PAIR OF WENDY'S SNEAKERS.

Ok, now that we all have a NEW HERO, let's find out who makes her sneakers and call the company, and ask where we can buy a pair.  I googled, and can't find a MANUFACTURER - sometimes described as pink, or orange, don't care WHAT the color - I want the corporate world to know that WENDY has a following.

HELP.  Who makes her sneakers.  Thanks.Laughing I'm making a tee shirt for myself:  I STAND WITH WENDY

My, my, my - why didn't the Treasury Inspector General's report give us the info on targeting groups with words like 'progressive' in their names? Well it seems the Republicans didn't want to know about that.

"The Treasury inspector general (IG) whose report helped drive the IRS targeting controversy says it limited its examination to conservative groups because of a request from House Republicans.

A spokesman for Russell George, Treasury’s inspector general for tax administration, said they were asked by House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) “to narrowly focus on Tea Party organizations.”"

Yes, RR ... I tell you, I'm shocked -- shockedthat the car thief would use an Inspector General of a federal agency to cook up a bogus investigation for partisan political purposes.  SHOCKED! Or ... maybe not so much.  I guess he learned these tactics from stealing cars, lying about his military career and committing insurance fraud.  Apparently that sort of "cooking the books" comes naturally to him.  Slime.

Usually, an audit done at the request or direction of someone outside the agency is identified as such in the report.  Hmmmm.

EDITED TO ADD:  I just reread parts of the report.  The auditors did state that it was done based on Congresscritters' concerns.

ALLEGED, Libby.  All but the slime.

Now if the media, or the poor excuse for media that most of it is, jump on this I will be truly shocked. This should cause all Issa's rantings and investigations to be taken with a VERY LARGE grain of salt, wouldn't you think?

Add me to the chorus of those saying, woohoo for this woman!!!!

"Wendy Davis: The State Senator Who Killed the Texas Abortion Bill

One woman stood up against Texas Republicans’ anti-abortion bill. Brandy Zadrozny on the state senator’s filibuster, her past clashes, and the time Rick Perry called her a ‘show horse.’"

I love my mental image of all these ignorant men pulling their hair out as they got schooled by a gutsy woman.  I think I'm going to Google and see if I can make a reelection campaign contribution to her.  We need more like her.

Next time the national Rs threaten and pout and whine make them do a filibuster the way it is supposed to be done too.

Wendy Davis - that's one strong woman.  I'll give it to Texas....when they do it, they do it right...Molly Ivins, Ann Richards and now Wendy Davis.  Her filabuster did make me think of one more thing my neuropathic feet wouldn't let me do - filabuster, darnit!!  But back to Texas, soon to be a blue state. :)

What a day in the SCOTUS.  Now what did Scalia say about sodomy?  I've been painting all day, so have only heard bits and pieces.

Then there is Daryl Issa.  What punishment should a Congressman get for throwing stink bombs at the POTUS (and hoping they'll atleast sully him a bit)?  Shouldn't they be equated to friviolous lawsuits and he be publically admonished?  I wonder when those who love to disparage Obama and hold up these stink bombs as truth ever say "I'm sorry," or "I was wrong?" Too much to ask?

I agree with Libby though, the VRA is a problem.  I hope it will bring voters out in masses in 2014 & 2016.  That's the only way to fight this stuff,  to get better judges, or better yet, judges approved by the do-nothing Republicans obstructionists.

I'm sure some "brilliant," "stunningly attractive," "well-educated" person (in their dreams) has something completely stupid to say about her hair, her education, her background, her clothing or her speech patterns. Doesn't matter. Haters gonna hate and we are gonna win. Wendy Davis for governor ----> Wendy Davis for Senate ----> Wendy Davis for President!
