Traii and Websister....you betcha....better tears out, then tears in....they just turn into stone if you don't get rid of them.

Dakota....I'm laughing...I couldn't tell you who won the cup last year, it's just fun to watch the excitement! I remember when Calgary won, (many years ago), my son was sooooo excited...we spent a whole day making a Stanley cup out of aluminum foil and plastic containers! Such a fun memory.

Wow, you are right weather is not good, I'm thinking we should vacuseal the case of Tim-Tams just in case. Maybe we can have a raft convoy ;)

Lots of towns around here declaring states of emergency. Fortunately our roof leak stopped so we are dry and did not have to sleep to the drip-drip of the water into the pail we put under it. We'll have to check it out up there this weekend, just had our roof done about two years ago after hail damage.

Managed to get my son to his Biology exam on time and get a calculator to him (he forgot he would need one). Having a cup of coffee now and relaxing for a bit, think I'll head over to the other side of the city early this afternoon for Herceptin so I don't have to do the same traffic maneuvers as I did this a.m.

Dakota - that is so sweet that DS is so excited, I also remember when Calgary won the cup and then again the second time they went to the finals. Great fun!

The jersey story is cute too, I won't tell anyone ;)

Hope the weather is better elsewhere and everyone has a good day/evening/night

Websister....glad the roof leaking stopped. Travel safely today.....in years to come, the "significance" of this date will fade into perspective.

Benny...hope everything is ok at the farm, and of course, at home too.

This flooding is horrible....thinking of everyone being impacted badly by this.

All you guys on Benny's raft, I hope you will end up in the Fraser River. That means you will hit the ocean right next to the ferry terminal south of Vancouver where you can then hop on the ferry - just bring some money - lol. I will be waiting for you in Nanaimo with hot water bottles, blankets, sherry, thick soup, Nihahi bread and Timtams. Will be a party! Will there be room for my kids on the raft?

Movie, I'm with you on the fistfights - way more interesting than what's actually going on - LOL! I'm a rugby fan - not too much of that on TV.

Benny , seems the Cuban Lunch turned out well? Careful now with that addictive stuff . . . will be good energy for rowing that raft - lol.

Dakota, hope your weather forecast is accurate. The poor people in Calgary really need a break. Enough already!!!!!!!!

Traii, banana and sultana - it rhymes beautifully, and will taste good together too, I'm sure.

Websister, your baby delivery story made me smile. By the time no. 4 came around, childbirth obviously did not faze you any more. One does indeed get used to everything - lol. Hope you can get to your appt. safely!

Nihahi, hang on there with the steristrips - no scratching, eh? Sad to hear about the flooding - will switch on TV now to see what's going on.

DH away for the day with meetings, only coming back late tonight, so I'm left here to my own devices. Just hope I can refrain from baking - lol. Dog and I will take a long walk although weather here not looking too good either. Thinking of packing a lunch and have a picnic along the way. Just always a little apprehensive, and I'm always wondering if there's a cougar in the forest watching me. Oh well, it will hopefully go for the dog first - LOLOLOL.

Saw an interesting thing in the lake yesterday. There was something in the water far from land, and it looked just like a person swimming breaststroke. Through the binoculars it turned out to be a big fish eagle - could not believe how well he swam, ducking his head with every stroke, using his wings like arms to propel himself forward - Michael Phelphs came to mind - lol. He must have tried to catch something, misjudged, and ended up in the water. He eventually made landfall right across from where we are. The moment he set foot on the shore, five black ravens attacked him, harassing him and chasing him. Poor thing was so exhausted, and could barely defend itself. Watching the whole drama through the binoculars, the last I saw of the bedraggled eagle, was when he crawled into a bush to get away from those fierce ravens. Normally such a majestic bird, it was really hard to see him so defeated, and I hope those ravens left him alone to dry off and fly away.

    Good afternoon ladies,

You are making me blush with your nice comments, that pic was right before the dreaded falling of the hair.

Just got home from treatment, the last of adriamycin. My Dh is so great he made sure they didn't hurt me this time.

Traii and websites, I had a tear day yesterday as well it's funny how it just hits you in a blink of an eye. I'm thinking we need that to though.

So you all have me craving those Tim tams and I've never even had one. I went online to see where I could get some. Can't find them anywhere here which is a good thing cause I know I would go overboard.

I hope you all have a fantastic day.

Wow!! Okotoks and surrounding area declared a state of emergency! I've seen the pictures, not good. Treetops barely peeking out. Good thing you're on the third floor Nihahi. You might get a puddle on your balcony at best?

The horses are fine but very muddy out there yesterday. I felt bad for the barn owner who is 74 years old and driving a broken down John Deere gator that gets stuck all the time. I hope he managed okay this morning. 32 horses don't take a day off from eating. Brutal thunder and high winds woke me up at 0500.

There's lots of room in the raft, Liefie! It's called The Fish Hunter and we nicknamed it Fernando the Fish Hunter a few years back when we christened it while eating strawberries and crackers floating down the Bow River one hot summer day. Fernando will save us, I am sure. Looking forward to your thick soup, yum! It will be a nice break from the 4 Cuban Lunches I've had today. They turned out really well (too well). I calculated the calorie content; I won't tell you what it is. Do you have a strong heart? ;-)

Nihahi, I hope you are okay down there in the Okotoks ocean? Websister, glad the roof leak is no longer. I'm guessing you had your roof done the same year I had mine done, after that incredible hail storm. See? I wasn't kidding about Alberta weather being bad. A friend of mine suggested I move to Cache Creek in BC as the land is cheap and the weather is better. It's sounding really tempting.

Okay, must go and check the damage of this last deluge. It pulled my Virginia creeper down off the wall. I should be thankful that's all I'm dealing with. Others are not so lucky today.

Whoa! Which river runs through Okotoks? This is really bad. Nihahi, you stay safe now. I know you are on top of a hill on the 3rd floor of your building, so you are probably okay, but no hiking or biking, eh? I bet it's too unpleasant anyway. Pray my kids in Calgary are safe. They are in a groundfloor apartment . . .

Benny, no, I do not want to hear that calorie count. Will not make that stuff anytime soon again - too dangerous!

Liefie.....What part of Calgary are your kids living? They've just announced mandatory 72 hour evacuations for about 6 Calgary neighborhoods. I'm sure your loved ones are ok, BUT, if they need help or somewhere to land....I'm here. AND I'M SERIOUS ABOUT THAT, IF THEY NEED HELP GET IN TOUCH WITH ME!

I'm safe here, but feel so badly for those close to the waterways. My physio has cancelled my tx for tomorrow....the clinic in High River is underwater. In Okotoks, we have the Sheep River.....usually not much more than a creek...now a raging torrent. Traffic on the road next to us has just come to halt....I think the road over the river is now impassable....not good. I'm starting to fill pots and buckets with water, in case the system goes down. Not good!!!!

Nihahi, they are southwest of downtown, but not far from downtown. Thanks for the offer - it is so appreciated! Just spoke to DS who told me that he had already bought a little boat, an engine, and spare batteries . . . teasing me of course, but they are safe. Their apartment building is on a hill above the Bow River, thank heavens. This weather is just crazy! Hope the rain stops and rivers run down soon with no loss of life.

That filling of containers with water sounds familiar. We've had severe winterstorms here with trees down on the powerlines with no power for days at a time with no water. Now when I see the wind just blowing a little hard, I start the filling . . . stay safe!

Good to hear that so far all are safe and doing OK, sorry to hear about your Virginia creeper Benny but yes, others are so much worse off. Glad I came over to the cancer center side of town early, as it was traffic was getting bad as people heard about evacuation orders and wanted to get home for prescriptions etc.

Fernando sounds like a good raft and your offer sounds great, Liefie. We would of course make room for your kids, not a doubt about it.

I'm wondering whether it will take a while to get my Herceptin today with some staff needing to get home or to their kids and evacuation centers. I will be very patient, just glad to also live on a hill and be safe and dry right now, nothing else is really all that important at times like this.

This June 20th will be a memorable one this year also.

Just saw a CBC news alert saying mandatory evacuation had been ordered for parts of the Calgary area. Hope you are all safe and dry Websister, Nihahi and Benny.

Maria, congrats on being able to say goodbye to the "red devil" - should be smoother sailing from here on out.

Had my port out today, so kind of nice to close that chapter. Don't have any pain whatsoever, so that's a pleasant surprise. Think I may have actually dosed off during rads this afternoon, so drugs from this morning must still be having an effect.

Next week having another day surgery unrelated to BC - cervical procedure. Also received some minor good news yesterday - only have to do 30 rads rather than 33 - so 19 to go!

Websister, know how you feel about additional procedures. Saw periodontist 3 weeks ago for check up and clean (had LANAP procedure on my gums not long before BC diagnosis) and although I didn't actually shed any tears, I certainly had a few moments of feeling very low and wondering if I was going to be able to stand it - physically or psychologically. At moments like those, I always think "this is what a cat or dog must feel like when they go to the vet".

Traii, fantastic that you finally have a surgery date and that although it' relatively close you will still have a couple of weeks to prepare. I'm sure it will all go well for you.

Liefie, glad you had good report from PS.

    Love to everybody else.

    Go Hawks!

Cross your fingers ladies....daughter's apartment is now in the evacuation zone. The island near her, is already under water. The building security is checking the building basement/parkade every half hour. If it stays dry, she can stay. If water gets in....she has to evacuate. Looks like we'll be staying up late tonight, hoping "not" to get a phone call from her. At this point, not sure how we'd get to her if need be. Meanwhile, the evacuation area in my town has been expanded. Gonna be a looooooong night.

Nihahi, I can pick her up and she could stay here. I live on a hill so no flooding for me. I also have a 4 wheel drive truck. It is still raining for heaven's sake. So sick of it. Anyway, let me know if you want me to pick her up. Is she allergic to cats or birds? :)

Thanks for your pm Benny. It looks like she is now in the latest evacuation zone, but not sure if it is going to be mandatory. She lives on 3rd Ave SW, between 7 and 8th street, so it's still not clear. She apparently has packed some stuff and has connected with a couple other people in her building, so if she does have to get out, has promised us she will go with a group and let us know where she's headed. I don't think you could get downtown now anyway. Thank you so much for your offer.

Thanks Benny....she's west of Eau Claire...almost directly across from the Peace Bridge. I don't think you can get in that area by vehicle now. We asked her earlier if we could come get her "just in case".....she said no. We're concerned, but we can't force her to leave.

I just read that no one can get down town now. The police are turning people back, but there must be a plan for those still down there. So I'm sure she'll be okay. But as I said, she is welcome here and I can still meet her at some destination if she chooses. I am 5 minutes from down town. I can't believe the pictures of the outlying areas right now, especially High River and Canmore. The Trans-Canada highway is washed out!

I know, it's crazy....I was supposed to have physio in High River tomorrow...not sure if the clinic is even still standing!!!

Sections of the 22 are now out between Black Diamond and Turner Valley. I think the Okotoks library might have gotten hit too....I have a friend who has a brand new fifth wheel trailer out in Sundre....yup....that rvpark is under evac now.

    Morning everybody,

I spent a restless night tossing and turning, thinking about what's happening in Alberta, and what this new day will reveal. Yesterday morning some people got up as always, made coffee, started their day. This morning their homes are no more, gone, washed away just like that. It seems so surreal that it can all happen so fast. Fortunately it seems there is not much loss of life so far. Lives are so much more important than anything else . . .

Nihahi, where did DD spend the night? Thought about you guys all night. Websister, Benny, glad you are also on higher ground and not in danger.
