Movie and Nihahi, congrats on your 36th and 37th wedding anniversaries. That's a long, long time living together, weathering life's storms, going through wonderful times together, having good memories - best wishes to you and your DH's!

Movie, I will leave it to Benny to send you that recipe. I do not want to be responsible - LOL!

Lol Liefie.....Benny did not disappoint me......Cuban Lunch looks downright dangerous! Can't wait to play with fire......let's see......one batch of Cuban Lunch.....one package of TimTams AND a big, cold glass of milk (skim, of course, a girl has to watch her calories!)

    I. Can. Not. Wait. To. Make. These!! :D

    XO Jackie

PS.....I am booking about 9-10 miles a day....surely I can have at least ONE of each?????

Liefie, I don't have a sweet wedding day story like you do.....mine was something along the line of feeling so nauseous and like I was going to ......you know....and me seeing this big beautiful Chinese vase and thinking that would be the perfect place to lose my breakfast and no one would be the wiser.....a not so cute story.... :). But, we're still together, so maybe it really WAS what I ate that morning, and NOT second thoughts! :)

Just about ready to head to bed, but have to send condolences to Dakota, sorry about the bruins...they were sooooo close! Not aware of what you're referring to re: Hernandez....rather behind in the outside news around here.

Movie...timtams still safely stacked in the grocery store. Back. Away. From. The. Cuban. Lunch!!!!!!!!!

Busy day tomorrow...physio, check on a friend who lives alone on an acreage that none of us have heard from....I'm closest to her, distance wise, so volunteered for that one. Daughter and "fellow apartment-mates" have a good chance of getting back into their places tomorrow, which would be awesome, but also means multiple treks into Calgary. Thanks for all the good wishes from everyone....things are improving for many, still devastating for too many though. Like the stampede now says....we'll get through this..."come hell or high water"!

Catching movie's disease of typing while eyes are falling shut. Have a great night everyone.

Sorry! :(

Yup Edi...you are the queen of "number of years served" Laughing

Kind of a downer day around here. Went to physio.....could have cried when I saw my physio, he looks like he has aged 20 years in a week. Lost his clinic and his home in the High River flood disaster. Had just gotten his family registered with the Red Cross yesterday.

Went to pick up a coffee and donut to take to the friend no one had heard from since the flood, and ran into another couple we know. They were evacuated THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY! Lost their home in High River, retreated to their summer RV in a campground in Okotoks.....evacuated from that.....went to their daughter's home in Calgary.....evacuated from that!!!!! All in the same day!!!. Gave them our address/ phone number and invited them over for a meal with all their dirty laundry, internet access. etc. Thank Goodness the "missing friend" is ok, her sump pump is definitely working overtime, but is taking care of water issues. She has power, but still has no phone though.

Came back to town, while filling up at the gas station, ran into another friend....her husband lost his dental practice in High River, he planned to retire next year and was in the middle of selling his practice, now, obviously, has nothing to sell.....what can you say to that???

Picked up daughter and her apartment "mates"...drove into Calgary and thankfully, they have access and power in their building. Helped them throw out the rotting food in their fridges, drove them to a grocery store to restock them, and paid for everyone's groceries....just not enough that any of us can do to help these people!!!!!!!

Anyone in the Calgary area......the Stampede is selling (online only at this time) "Come Hell or High Water" tshirts....proceeds going to the flood relief funding. I've bought three, might buy more.

Edi, glad you are feeling better. Sunshine always helps, eh? Enjoyed your wedding day stories too.

Nihahi, what you said made me realize how this disaster is impacting on people's lives. It is hard to wrap your mind around what is happening, and High River is becoming so controversial - no easy solution as to what is supposed to happen there next. Your home is where your heart is, and to be displaced like that, having lost your home and livelihood so suddenly must be very hard.

DH says to say hi to you, and to thank you again for the bread recipe. We ate some for supper, and he just loves it.

Good night everybody! Tomorrow is another day.

Casonpa, thank you for the prayers. A friend of mine (former Calgarian) is living in Texas and she said there's a music festival going on somewhere down there with some of the proceeds going to Calgary to help with the flooding! How incredibly generous! I'm surprised too that the news has travelled so far. Things are slowly coming together here and everyone is very driven to help everyone.

Movie, did you manage to get that Cuban Lunch Crisis recipe to Traii? We need to spread the calories around Laughing

Nihahi, I can't believe how much you are doing right now. If you need me to do anything please just send me a message. I can drive and do errands for you. I hope you're managing to get some rest in between all of this?

Edi, had me howling with the bride left in her slip story! And poor DH. Did he just have a band-aid over his eyebrow? All of you with the anniversaries make me wish I had got married. But I just never found anyone who I thought I could live with for any length of time Undecided

The sun is shining here, finally, and I am going out to the farm to help. Hope everyone has a se-free day <3

Lots going on, enjoyed reading the updates. I will look for the t-shirts on-line and stay away from the Cuban lunch ;)

Lots happening today so need to get moving. DIL's water broke at 0400, in labor - so sometime today I should be a grandma again. Lunch previously booked with another DIL's mom who is stopping over here while flying home and have company coming over this evening.

    Hope all are doing well

Benny, I didn't get the recipe, spread , spread the calories girl .... LOL.....(not that I should be thinking of calories when I'm about to head off to bed , I can feel myself putting weight on just thinking about those cuban lunches...LOL )

Nihahi, such a great thing you did for your DD and her friends, taking them grocery shopping and paying. I know it's the least you could do, but you are a gem. Sorry to hear about your friends homes and businesses. It is so sad that mother nature can do such damage anywhere and at any time. So long as they are safe and still have eachother I guess.

Off to bed for a big day of shopping tomorrow.

If any of you have any tips on what I should be buying to prepare for BMX please let me know. I don't have any list from the hospital, only the time, date and procedure I'll be doing ( well at least they got that right!) was sent to me and that was all!!

I have pjs that is a shirt as a top so it can easily be put on and off...any other suggestions let me know ( i'll have the make- up packed, that's priority, only hope I can lift my arms up to do it, but I will make sure I manage that Kiss ) lol

Nighty night, and hope you all have a great day. xx

Traii, I found it the most convenient to stay in those hospital garments. It's easy for the nurses when they have to work with you, and it saves you laundry too. Don't pack too much. Panties, slippers, face wipes, hair brush, lip balm for those dry lips, tooth brush, toothpaste, shampoo (just in case), wash cloth and preferred soap, small towel if it's not provided, clothes and shoes to go home in, reading material, electronics so you can keep us posted - lol - that's about it. It never even crossed my mind to put on make-up in hospital, but I hardly wear it anyway. You wanna look pretty, you pack it. Just don't know if you will be able to use your arms much the first week or so, but you will find out soon enough. Don't worry if you can't put on make-up. You are a patient recovering from major surgery after all, and nobody will expect you to look your best.

Websister, hope the labour and birth goes well - that baby must be arriving anytime now. What a joy!

Movie, please send Traii that recipe. I'm too chicken - lol!

Benny, glad you can get in some horse and farm time - enjoy!

Nihahi, kudos to you on your efforts to do your part for relief in that stricken part of the world. You have such a great spirit, and a kind, generous heart. So sorry for your friends who have lost so much - must be so worrisome for those who were planning to retire soon. Can't imagine how they must feel. I will ask my children to buy me some of those T-shirts - seems they are coming this weekend. Road to Canmore still closed indefinitely, so they have to drive via Edmonton.

Dakota, are you still scanning the male patients for possibilities? LOL.

Not much to report here. Saw a physioherapist yesterday for my ROM. She put on heat, then manipulated my arm and shoulder to assess the damage - ouch ouch! Seems the rads damage in the armpit is what causes the stiffness, but she's positive that we can stretch it, and make it much better with exercises that I have to do 3 X a day. Massage was also recommended for the back and left shoulder - sounds good to me! When rads were finished last year I had a 6 x 6 inch square red patch on my back, so my left upper body was cooked good and proper - lol. As long as the cancer cells were fried too I don't care.

Belated Happy Anniversary to you Movie and also to Nihahi (today or yesterday?). And yes, Edi, you are the queen of them all! It's wonderful that all of you (Liefie too) have had such successful marriages. DH and I will have been married for 2 years in August (his second, my first) and needless to say it has been eventful - nothing like stressing the system right out of the gate!

Websister, congratulations on your new arrival today - how many grandchildren is that now?

Traii, I've been trying to remember useful things for post-BMX, as in once you get home (since I didn't have reconstruction, was only in hospital for 23 hours). Here's a rather random list: - button up the front shirts (as recommended by Dakota) and PJs, mastectomy camisole(s) with pockets for drains (they may give you one), safety pins to pin drains, antibacterial gel, or other gel so fingers can slide along drains when clearing, big pillows to help you stay in whatever position feels comfortable (I also used a wedge pillow for awhile), peppermint or ginger drops to suck on if you feel any nausea. Other things people loaned me that were useful:- a recliner, a shower chair (which I actually used for awhile after surgery, believe it or not), a shower head with hand-held attachment (could shower (while sitting in chair) and keep water away from scar easier that way, a tray so that I could eat in bed if necessary for the first few days. DH tended to my drains like a pro - he would operate in a plastic dish pan beside me while I was lying down so there was no spillage. He would put small gauze pads around my drains holes (he cut them in a special way to fit around the drains) and change them each night. Would also check dressing along wound at first and change if necessary. We also had a supply of tape, antiseptic wipes, gauze pads, etc that they gave us when we left surgery center - then we restocked as necessary. I cut up an old pair of panty hose that I used as a necklace to pin drains to while showering. You notice I've mentioned the drains several times - for me it was ALL about the drains and once they were out it was smooth sailing. The thing I remember most is being surprised at how little pain I felt - had a pain pump that lasted for 3 days - but I didn't do reconstruction.

Had my minor cervical procedure today but there was nothing to it - DH said only 18 minutes from the time they wheeled me away until the doctor came to speak to him. Nonetheless, I feel pretty tired - almost missed rads appt because we both fell asleep! Feels good to be half way done with rads now.

    Websister.....any new grandbaby yet???

Traii...good advice you've gotten. With your spirit, I don't think you'll be "down" for long, but it wouldn't hurt to get in touch with your PS before surgery, to find out what his protocol is. He certainly "owes" you some special attention!!!!

Movie...your diep post was absolutely hysterical, thank you for the chuckles!!!!!!!!

Caitlin...glad to hear the latest procedure was just a small "bump" in the road. Sounds like you're doing really well getting through rads. Must be those fresh veggies!

Liefie...yeah, physio can be a "pain" but usually is well worth the journey! Hang in there.

Traii, glad you were able to get the Cuban Lunch recipe. A word of warning...... I'm not sure what size bags your choco chips and butterscotch chips come in, but ours are sold in 300 gram bags. This, I found out too late, is exactly 1 and 1/2 cups, all you need. I didn't know this so bought two bags of each 'just in case'. So now that the cuban lunch crisis is over, I'm still nibbling on the extra bags of choco/butterscotch chips!!!

Edi, I seem to be feeling worse too?? I am just very very weak, still. Was at the farm yesterday and the farrier was there so I was moving horses in and out all day, but had to sit down numerous times throughout the day :( I soooo want this veil of fatigue to lift but it doesn't seem to be budging. Are you eating pretty much whatever you want now? I still can't do bread without feeling ouchy the next day. Onco said intestines would heal in 3 to 4 months but mine haven't yet. Such good and quick thinking on the part of Best man's mom with the makeup LOL! Poor guy, wedding day pressures bad enough without adding wounds to the day. I know your volunteer day will go fantastically!

Caitlin, glad the procedure only 18 minutes, and you'll be amazed how quickly the remaining rads go by. It seemed to me it took longer to get to the halfway mark than it did the last rad apptmnt.

Websister, congrats on new grandbaby! Hope mom is doing okay. Anxious to hear from you on how it all went.

Dakota, if you find a suitable male in your clinic will you start watching for me? I don't seem to meet any in my daily work. Horses = women lol. Just a short checklist >>> must love animals, must love horses, must be over 5' 6" (how tall I am in my cowboy boots), must love the country, must love horses, must like to cook, dust, vacuum and mow the lawn. :D

    Maria, hope you're doing okay?

Oh, some mindless unimportant boring stuff here >>>> went out to the farm yesterday after being absent for a good long while. Diamond was waaaay out at the west end of her pasture and I wondered how I would walk out that far (we're talking acres here). So I walked out halfway and hollered at her "Booboo!!!" (That's her pet name). Well, her head went up, she looked at me, and she whinnied LOUD! She didn't knicker, she whinnied, and then turned and came cantering in to me! Couldn't believe it! I think she missed me! She lead into the arena without any incidents and stood there good as gold for grooming (she was a muddy mess). Usually she hates having her face washed (with baby wipes), but yesterday she dropped her head as if to say 'do you want to clean behind my ears, mama?'. It was so great! And when we left the arena, no rearing or pulling on the lead rope! She was awesome! Maybe she realized she missed me haha!

Okay, I am off to mow the lawn (^^^^^  Frown ) then finish my pink mounting block for the outdoor arena. Will take a picture!

Have a great day everyone (((((hug)))))
