Drains for a week....oh well.
Nihahi, what's this? skin cancer????? Praying for you! xxx
Liefie, Traii, Edi, websister, caitlin, maria, dakota, sending big Thanks and prayers to you girls!!! xxxx You ladies are so incredibly awesome!

Everyone and anyone I missed... sending love and hugs...Hope all are hanging in there.
Love you all!!! DH sends his thanks for you all being here for me too!!! (Awww, who'd-a-thunk he had it in him..heehee) Will post again when I can. Again...THANK YOU!!!

-
Wirdgirl and Delvsey - welcome, the other ladies have said it all. This is a wonderful, supportive group
Liefie - enjoyed your chainsaw story from yesterday morning. How is the weather there, can you at least sit out in the sunshine and enjoy it while you are more or less housebound?
Edi - loved the vacuum story, you are a saint!
. Wondering how the water feature with the lighting looked at night, I remember your DH being anxious for the sun to go down so he could admire his work?
Shrinkage of breast tissue can be a side effect of radiation unfortunately
Traii - how's DS, no further tummy trouble?
Nihahi - not the trip to the dermatologist you were looking for, eh? How is the cheek today? Hope the results are back soon and no further treatment required. Your taste in books sounds like mine, I'm all over the place - the library is one of my favorite retreats. Re: work for me - I have been going in most Monday mornings all year, there were some periods of time I was a no show though. Not paid per se for it but I give my feedback and input on various items/processes/documents in the works and so far, they keep inviting me back
Movie - can't wait to hear about tomorrow's escapades. So glad you were able to go
Benny - yay!!! Rads over. You will find that it takes about a week to 10 days for the full effects re: skin and fatigue and then things will start to settle down. Raining here again today so I guess you will probably be spending a quiet day at home. Benny has been such a good companion for you through all of this, definitely took it's toll on him. Looking forward to the picture of you and Diamond with rabbit ears
Carla - looking forward to update from your PS appointment
Jennie - how are things now that you are a couple of weeks post rads?
Dakota - you should probably get the swelling checked out, could be lymph edema and you want to catch that early. Cording can be present without lymph edema
Yesterday I spent a very relaxing but productive day outdoors with the exception of a brief rain shower in the afternoon. I would work for about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour then rest for a bit and plan the next steps in the garden as I rested. All is looking very nice, not neglected like before. Probably a good thing it is raining today - for the plants I planted and so I am not tempted to get out there again today. I have to take my Mom for a doctor's appointment this afternoon so that will take up a few hours of my day. Haven't heard anything re: MRI, pain still there but trying to get on with life
Greetings to everyone else, -
Hi ladies,
Movie, like Nihahi, I will be glued to the board to hear of your Onsen adventure - can't wait! Just make sure that those dainty Japanese ladies don't drown when they pass out from the shock . . .LOL! Even my DH is waiting with bated breath . . he thinks it's absolutely hilarous. Tim Tams - don't know what that is, but I'll find out.
Websister, the pocket party is continuing . . . hope that MRI date materializes soon. Glad you had a good day yesterday. Hugs to you!
Nihahi, PS said no arm/shoulder exercises whatsoever. She wants to see me again middle of June - maybe will get exercises then? The protocols are so different. Grasshopper - funny! Rainy here too - won't be walking either. Feeling antsy and cooped up. Hope you have a good visit with the physio, and that he can resolve the cording issues. I've been watching my arm closely too for that. Wish we could get together for coffee (my one daily cup) on this dreary day - wouldn't that be nice? Westjet is beginning a direct service between Nanaimo and Calgary in June, tickets seem really reasonable (for now) and I'm soooo planning to use it. Will be meeting you one of these days. Should get Websister involved too. YES!
Dakota, careful with that arm now, eh? It sucks that we always have to be vigilant, and not invite lymphedema. Maybe have it checked out?
Benny, you will have to give us more info re that rescue pigeon, and his taste in music. Seems you've set the cat among the pigeons here . . .lol.
Traii, DH just went out into the garden again, but will be using clippers this morning instead of chainsaw - much quieter - lol. Does not want to push his luck with the neighbours. Just took him a cup of tea to where he's clipping away in the bushes, wet from the rain and happy as a child at Christmas.
Alive, thinking of you probably coming home today. Just relax, rest, let the other people spoil you and take care of you. Take the pain medication - no medals awarded for bravery here - and give yourself time to heal. (((((BIG HUGS!!!)))) Looking forward to hear from you, girl!
Edi, you are MIA. Having fun I guess?
Delsvzy, I love your last sentence, 'well girl you need to be strong and get on with getting your body well again.' So true - a wonderful attitude you have!
All you other girls I have missed, hope you have a wonderful day.
-
Hi, low as a snakes belly today
don't know why, feel great physically just head not on right lol
Had lovely reflex session yesterday which usually lifts spirits, had a laugh with my practioner anyway. She had a 9 night cruise to Norway and it was the worse experience ever !! Norway gorgeous but the ship had the novo virus on board and they had to queue for everything and got sprayed whilst just sitting having a drink by staff wearing suits and masks !! Her cabin was the fithiest I have ever seen, mold all over the shower etc.
They complained and were told no more cabins available.
The ship had just had a 5 million pound refit lol.
When they docked back in Liverpool she noticed a yellow flag coming down and and was told this was the sign of a plague ship. She better get good compensation or there will be another Titanic disaster in the Mersey River.
Shedman and family soooo happy, as are all his friends. Can't believe they left him so long as he said every ache and pain he was convinced it was growing everywhere. We have all been there girls havent we ?Wildgirl, welcome xx
Delzy, great attitude, keep thinking that way xx
Alive, you sound fantastic !! Hope drain not too uncomfy, don't forget to enjoy the pampering of the poorly Princess bit lol xx
Traii, Delzy lucky to have you near. Tim Tams look like Penguin biscuits we have here, yummy DS would love the shiny wrappers with penguins on.
So wish we could ALL be with Movie being pampered, imagine the look on the faces of thoses dainty Japanese ladies when we all descend into that bath !!
Hope something heard this week xxCarlads, how did PS visit go ? Good luck with Tamoxifen xx
Liefie, glad you not suffering except your ears with DH and the chainsaw.
Keep away if he starts again, heard a story of a chap up a ladder using one to cut top of tall hedge, wife holding bottom of ladder, soft git drops c/saw and decapitates her !!
Reading and walking sounds enough, you will soon be bizzing about xxNihahi, Skin Cancer for fxxxs sake ! Hope not as bad as you must be thinking. It has picked on the wrong one with you
.
No news from wrinkly butt, think DH pxxxxd him off good style re shower door etc. Will let you know if we do hear.
Benny's pigeon sounds adorable she has a little gang of creatures that she is looking after, they are lucky to have her.xxBenny, don't give amount of chemo a second thought, I get panicky because they can't give me anything else ie Tamox etc so feel like not enough done. Then think ,just get on with it Edi, live each day with a happy heart and have fun. None of us know what will happen next.
My hair long enough for no wig, about 1" long and really fluffy like a duck's ass. lol.
Do you remember what that TV prog called with snails in it ?
Thinking of you tomorrow, hope Tam goes well with no se's xxWebsister, thought boob shrinkage may be se of rads thanks for clarifying it. Hope you are improving xx
Carla/bearcub/lesleyanne/dakota and all sisters, feel better now after catch up with you lovely ladies. Not going to Bingo eyes watering again and to be honest can't concentrate enough.
Love you ALL xx
-
Edi, sorry to hear you're feeling low today. We all have those down times. Rock and roll music, fresh air and chocolate always help me get over it . . . lol. Hope you feel better soon!
Plague ship - eeeuw!!! Does not sound too clean, that's probably why they have that virus. No use spending 5 million pounds on refurbishing, but cleaners don't do proper job. Ship is a damp environment, so prone to mould. Once a week I spray the corners in my shower with a little bleach - never had a mould problem. How hard is that?
Chainsaw story terrible - never go near him anyway while he's working with it. Don't even want to see it. It should be classified as a weapon of mass destruction - lol.
Alive, earlier today I missed your post. So happy to hear you are out on the other side! The first day or two are the worst, and then it gets better quickly from there. Take care!
-
Alive....so good to hear from you. Hope going home is a real "pick-me-up" for you.....rest, heal, vent.....you're doing great!
Edi....sending huge hugs out to you. There doesn't have to be a reason...those days just happen. I believe it still takes an enormous, unrecognized amount of energy to keep an "even keel", and sometimes, you're just out of energy. It gets better....you really do put the energizer bunny to shame most days!!!!
Liefie....wowzer, that's a looong time to not be mobilizing your shoulder! How is the cabin fever today???
Physio today went well....he wasn't too aggressive, but I was pretty sore by the time I got home. He wasn't impressed with the loss of range I have in that arm, but understood what toll the surgery took. He feels the new issues are also related to the nerve "stretching and compression" during the surgery and when my arm was so swollen, but thinks it will resolve. Sure hope so, cause I'm getting tired of being a "professional patient"!!!! I've resigned myself to whatever comes next on my face, surgery/treatment wise....don't need a pretty face to go hiking!
Websister...perfect day to let the new plants settle in. I miss the look of my garden, but not the work. Sure couldn't keep up with a garden this spring....you continue to amaze us all with what you do. I must have scratched or rubbed my cheek last night, cause I woke up about 2am with a very sore cheek....hoping tonight goes much better. Thanks for the info re: cording. Physio and I are pretty sure I have some degree of it going on, along with other stuff.
Dakota...I agree....get that arm checked out, pronto!!!!!
Maria....hope things are a bit better on your end.
I still don't quite get the pigeon thing with Benny, but sounds like she's doing well.
Hey there, to the newbies on here. Hope you're all doing ok.
Gotta do some supper stuff....take care ladies!
-
Benny, so glad that you're back and done with rads! Sorry to hear Diamond got a bit rambunctious, at your expense.
Haven't posted lately, since I've been busy with family. Mum left this morning after having been here for 2 weeks. My brother and family have been here since Saturday, so it was a full house. All of us except Mum went to the Indy 500 on Sunday. It was a LONG day for me with a lot of walking, but I made it and had a good time.
Saw my radiation oncologist this morning and unexpectedly had my CT scan and simulation. I start treatment next Wednesday. This was a different RO than the one I saw originally, but I liked him. I felt more comfortable that he will take into consideration my concerns associated with secondary conditions.
Tomorrow will be 6 months since I was diagnosed - hard to believe!
Alive, glad you are doing well so far - hope you will heal quickly!
Movie, big day tomorrow - we'll all be anxious to hear how it goes.
Dakota, read my Mum your daughter's essay, and she said you must be a very special person to have your daughter admire you so.
Edi, pleased that there was good news re: shed man, but sorry you were having a down day.
Maria, how is Round 2 treating you?
Carla, hope you are doing well and that your appointment with PS went well. Let us know how you find Tamoxifen - I'll be starting in August.
Welcome to the new ladies, and love to everybody else. Will try to do a better job of catching up later. Watching hockey with my nephew (Chicago vs Detroit), but can hardly keep eyes open. -
Just checking in, had a really good weekend, my son's graduation party turned out great! Have been getting things in order around here so I can relax after my lumpectomy, which is scheduled for tomorrow morning. So glad to be doing something finally.
Nihahi thanks for your words of wisdom. I will take them to heart when making my decisions.
Everyone else take care, hugs to you all!
-
Iceburg.....you're going to be well cared for tomorrow, and you'll be doing fine sooner than you think. We'll all be thinking of you, partying in your pockets, and wishing you well. We totally get the relief at "finally getting on with something to fight this".
Glad to hear the grad went well.....such a life moment, eh!
Caitlin....gosh....sounds like you were unstoppable at Indy!!!! I think I detect a bit of "pride" at getting through such a long, busy day.....AND YOU SHOULD BE PROUD!!!! WHOOHOO! Rads next, then put this in your rearview mirror. But stick with us when you're done....you'll be such a support and help to newbies. This house is cheering for Pittsburgh this year, because our beloved caption, Jerome Iginla, is now a penguin, and the whole city is routing for him to finally win the cup.
hmmm.... is it Friday in Japan yet? I get so confused.... I'm wondering about Movie and the great onsen adventure!!!!!!!
-
Thursday in japan and australia Nihahi.
Good luck for tomorrow ice burg. U will be fine.
Caitlin loved your pics on fb at the indys. -
Sorry been MIA for a few days. Cleaning house and it's looking better.
Iceburg - In you pocket for you lumpy tomorrow. I'll try to be quiet but you may hear a "Yah" when it's over.
Benny - love hearing back from you. Sweet hugs to you. Rescue pigeon likes John Denver - me too. Rocky Mountain High. Get stronger so Diamond will recognize you da boss.
Will post more tomorrow. Love you all. Off to night night.
-
Hi girls,
My guess is Movie is nekkid in that hot spring as we speak - LOL.
Went for a short walk with DH after supper. As we turned into the street from our driveway, there was a pile of bear poo right there. A little apprehensive to go walking now - can't run too fast at the moment - lol.
Iceburg, best wishes for tomorrow! You will feel so good knowing the beast is gone, and you are doing something to beat it.
Nihahi, yes, I am surprised that I'm not supposed to do any exercises for my ROM. Guess I have to trust my PS, but it just seems weird. Cabin fever - it is still wet and rainy, so no go. On Friday I have friends coming over in the morning, so something to look forward to. I am cleared to drive as from tomorrow, so that will help too.
-
Oh my bear poo...wait til i tell ds that he hasnt stopped singing 'we're going on a bear hunt' since kindy...lol.
Night night liefie
luvmy when u finish cleaning your house pop on over here...lol -
Hi ladies -
Sports finally winging down for the summer !!!!! My DD and I and the dog went for a 1.5 mike run !! It's so sad tho I used to run 5 miles a day !!! Still time to get there !!! Hanging out in ur pocket tomorrow ice ice baby !!! Edi - hope today is better !!!! Benny sooooo good to hear from you girlfriend !!!!
Love and hugs to u all !!!! -
Well crap Liefie....literally...! Bear scat at the end of your driveway!!!!! I bet he's looking for that chainsaw culprit!! Keep your eyes on the doggie, and maybe get yourself a can of bearspray!!!! (ooohhhh....maybe it was a pile of Alive's snotgrass instead?????) Driving will defo help the cabin fever. I remember though that the "jiggling" wasn't pleasant when there were bumps or dips in the road....don't get me started on how it felt to go over railroad tracks!!!! Don't know what your weather is like, but here, I'm thinking of brushing up on my paddling techniques and building me a canoe!!!! Westjet is telling us we defo are gonna have a get together!
Iceburg....thinking of you....get it out then get it on!!! Pocket party starting to ramp up for you. Where should I put the umbrella???
Dakota...how's that arm?? I used to run, knees no longer enjoy it. I think you're doing amazing!
Traii...little guy still singing about bears? Too cute. OK, I was a day early....but now it's your Friday....maybe???
Edi.......put on some music and hug Sergie....things get better, sweetie. Yuck days are gonna happen, let them have their moment, then leave them in the past.
Websister....just finishing an interesting book. Written by Nahlah Ayed (the reporter on CBC). Interesting read and learned stuff about her I never knew. Title is "A Thousand Farewells". Recently read an interesting book about 2 guys who road their bikes (pedal, not motor) across Siberia (in winter no less). Don't remember the actual name, but it was really quite fascinating. Yeah....eclectic tastes here for sure. Are your plants floating yet????
Luvmy....when you're done cleaning at Traii's....please come here...housework is soooo not my thing.
Have good days, ladies. Love to all.
-
Morning Nihahi! Bear looking for chainsaw culprit - may well be - lol. Our dog can never go off leash, because he chases cars, the naughty boy. Eleven year old Golden Retriever, lovely dog and so obedient, but the moment he's off leash, and any vehicle drives by, he's off like a rocket. Can't help himself. He does have exprience of bears though. Early one morning a few years ago when he was still allowed to roam, I opened the front door to let him out. At that exact moment a black bear was strolling leasurely down the street in front of my house. It felt so surreal. The dog went for him with the other dogs in the neighbourhood, and chased him up a tree where he stayed for hours.
Most bears will run away from people, except if you're unfortunate enough to end up between a mother and her cubs. Now that's a scary scenario . . . grrrrr! But you know all these things, and I'm sure you carry bearspray on your mountain walks. I'm actually way more scared of cougars, because they stalk you. Our area has the largest cougar population on the island. At least a bear will meet you head-on. Wonder if bearspray will work on cougars too? Lol. The wildlife that is the most bothersome though are the Bambi's - yesterday had two again, and that while DH is outside!? They're somehow not scared of people, and don't run away like you would expect. You have to jump up and down, shout, clap etc. before they get the message. A royal pain they are, destroying the gardens. All the neighbours are plotting against them . . . When I come to visit I'll bring you a deer pie. Lol.
-
Liefie - OMG my golden is the same way !!!! Except he chases people too !!! We have an electric fence but if u run he is right after u. He actually bit a little girl cutting thru our yard from school I called the dog officer I felt so bad. I had to stop the cutting thru our yard. If u walk its fine in u run forget it. It is so strange & scary...... But he is such a good dog otherwise.
-
Dakota, seems these dogs have zero impulse control? They are real people pleasers though, so gentle, loving and adorable. Can't believe yours bit a little girl? Wow. He must have been having a very bad day - lol! Mine allows the cat to eat a few bites out of his bowl every day while he patiently sits by and waits for his turn . . . no aggression whatsoever. I'm sure if anybody breaks into my house, he will run up to him, wag his tail, and lick him - lol.
-
Liefie....cougars...shiver.....there would be a pile of Nihahi scat on the trail if that encounter ever happens. Yep, bear spray is supposed to be a defense for them too, but really, they are such stalkers, you probably would never see one coming!!!! Stay safe.....
Raining here again, sigh......might as well be living on the island with you!!!!!!
-
Lol... If a stranger walked it he would lick them but if they ran in big trouble. It makes me nervous I have to be very careful, he is only 4 years old and I didn't think it warranted putting him to sleep but I felt terrible for months
. It was while I was home from my BMX to boot !! -
Dakota...you've got me chuckling....slow day at work?????
-
Haha- can u tell. Two patients cancelled no appointments until 1 pm..... Ughhhh
-
too funny....I remember those days with outpatients. Is it weather related???? I always knew on the days that I struggled to get into work, it would be a loooooooong day of cancellations.
What things do you line up for your kids over the summer when school's out?
