Well im back home after shopping.
Tonight off to celebrate my uncles birthday with some yummy cake
-
Was anyone else having problems connecting to this site last evening, or was it just me??? I could read things....couldn't post....maybe the server was underwater!
Beautiful sunny day here now, I'm booked with appointments
Liefie....enjoy the strawberries! Pass along the scone recipe if you have a good one please. I guess you can cancel the float plane flyby for today, but better keep it on standby.....
Dakota....hoping for no cancellations for you.
Traii...what a family you have....celebrations every week it seems! Lovely to see you so close.
Catch you later, ladies.
-
Hi ladies !!!
Not a bad day at work only one open slot ( so here I am ). Just thought I would say hello !!!! -
Good morning (here)
Nihahi - I had difficulty a few times yesterday connecting to the site. The error message was that it could not connect to the server.
I will be thinking of you with your appointments today. Hope you don't end up with more sutures.
It is so nice to see the beautiful sunshine and blue sky today!
Liefie - enjoy your jam making, the thought of strawberry jam on those scones with fresh whipped cream has me thinking it's time for breakfast
. Glad you got your natural vitamin D yesterday and managed to stay safe from the bear and all other wild things
Dakota - have a good day at work, sounds like work is where you rest up from those weekends
Benny - this might be a Diamond day for you, if so, take it easy and play any music you like on the drive out there
Greetings to everyone else, hope all is going well. -
Good Morning ladies (well midnight here)!
Thought I'd pop in to say hi and see what you girls are up to !
I did have probs today logging in, saying server not found.....
Well I'm off to bed soon, enjoy your day and Nihahi, hope all goes well with your appts.
Dakota, don't work too hard

-
Good morning, ladies!
Yes, I had problems connecting to the server last night, and gave up trying. This morning no problem.
Hi Dakota! How many possible male candidates today? LOL.
Nihahi, hope your appt. goes well. Happy for you, Websister and Benny that the sun is shining there today. For me the sun is an instant mood lifter - hope the same for all of you. Another perfect day here. DH is dragging himself off to work now. Would much rather be toiling in his garden as he had been since early morning - lol.
Websister, still waiting for the MRI appt., eh? Hope you hear about that soon. You too, Traii!
Traii, enjoy your family. What a privilge to be living so near many of them. Mine are all in South Africa, and sometimes I miss them soooo much! But I will be seeing them all in December - can't wait.
Strawberries are sitting on the counter calling my name, but I'm first going to take a leisurely walk to the mailboxes to get the mail. Then I will start on the hulling process. As for the scone recipe, Nihahi, I always look on the Canadian Living website. They have many different scone recipes, and one is as good as the next. Just don't overprocess the dough, and don't pat it down too flat before cutting out scones. Then your scones will rise high, and be light. I sound like a Home-Economics teacher - lol.
A good day to you all, and also to the rest of our warrior sisters. Alive, how are you doing post-op?
-
And we're back!!! Yay!! I couldn't get on this site yesterday?? Twice I was able to log on but couldn't get the reply window, then I couldn't even log on? Maybe it was a Canadian thing haha!
There's a big yellow ball in the sky this morning??? Not sure what that is but I like it. Nihahi, sorry about the apptmnt-packed day, but tomorrow is supposed to be even sunnier and warmer, so let's hope you can have a Nihahi day tomorrow. And I agree, let's not put the float plane in the hangar just yet....
I am running off to mow the lawn as the neighbours are starting to stare when they drive by. Then, it's out to see the giant plush toy and, yes, no John Denver in the CD player, Websister!

Traii, if I stumbled across a bucket of worms there would be a Bennymuffins-shaped hole through every cloud in the sky. Ewwwww, can't handle worms. Even typing the word out makes me crawly.
My hair is about an inch long now but it's pointing straight up like a mohawk. I've tried mousse but that just made it a shiny mohawk. It's kind of like a cheap carpet. Grrrrr. Looks like I'll have to put the wig on for awhile yet. Fatigue is still an issue too.
Okay, I'd better get going before that big yellow thing disappears. Have a wonderful day EVERYONE! xoxo
-
Good morning Bellies.....(well, it IS still in the AM here!) I had no trouble logging onto the site last night.....I just didn't, because the jet lag B**ch caught me about 6:30 pm, and I crashed - Hard! still not sleeping through night.....maybe tonight that will change.
Yesterday I was missing the sushi so much, I bought a rice press and made my own for dinner. DH was pleasantly surprised (I think he was afraid I would say I was too tired to cook-again). Sushi turned out amazingly well, for a beginner! I have lost a few pounds since leaving for Japan, not sure that it is a result of my eating (less) over there (except for TimTams, Traii!), or the incessant walking and stair climbing from the subway stops. Am trying some different things in the gym right now......stairstepping for 12 mins. straight -that's a lot for me! ..... followed by 40 minutes of elliptical set at a low height and a higher resistance......seemes to be working, I am exhausted right now!
I really missed chatting with all of you during my time in Japan, and that is one of the positives of being back....but, I find myself with not too much to say today! Except that I want your scone recipe, Liefie.....you are a bad influence-mentioning scones with cream and strawberries...reminds me of my Cornish grandmother...she used to make them for me all the time when I visited her. (Pasties are another favorite of mine, thanks to her....my family thinks I'm demented!)
I DID see some Hokkaido Brown bears when in Japan.....but they were behind bars. HUGE animals....similar to Alaskan Kodiaks...I believe that the Browns in Canada and the US are a little smaller, but that would be small consolation if you were being chased by one!
I have got to say...the rescue pigeon story is pretty funny. Sorry it doesn't like John Denver! (Or does it?)
I hope ALL are having a good day....sun is shining here, and the temp will hit 80* + today......
Love and (((Hugs))) going out to all!
Namaste and God bless - Jackie
PS: Traii...I found a site that will sell TimTams here in the US, for giving them your firstborn.....just kidding, but almost double what I paid for them in Japan!!!!
-
Got the facial sutures out today....yep, definite squamous cell with undefined margins, so....now have a "small hole" in my cheek, (his sutures looked good, but when he removed them, the hole appeared), and waiting to hear from the mohs surgeon for a date. Sheesh....enough already!!!! When he drew on my face what he thought would be the amount of excising needed to be done, I really questioned him about the size......crazy reaction, since when learning about the miles of incisions my flap ps surgeon would be doing, my reaction was oh, ok, whatever!!!!!
Movie...gosh...you sound like you've hit the gym already???? You are one dedicated gym rat! If your daughter goes back to that onsen, it would be interesting to hear her reports on what some of the ladies may say to her about your visit. Keep on eating all the fresh food you can get....I bet you had little "convenience" food in Japan. OK, you can have ONE of Liefie's scones.....just ONE!
Benny, Websister....isn't this sunshine glorious!!!!! I might try to squeeze in a short hike tomorrow after physio, if I can find something steep enough to have drained all this rain off.
Liefie...still chuckling about your pm's, which I'll reply to next...sorry, can't let you have chemo brain anymore, but defo you can claim anesthesia brain!!!!! I'm still hanging on to that one myself, and I'm just past 7 weeks!!!!!
Traii....plan that next family vaca, girl, why not!
-
Good morning ( well its 10am here!!)
Nihahi...im sure you still look beautiful hole in cheek and all. U just do whats needed to get clear margins girl!
Liefie hope u attended to those strawberries calling. We will all come over for fresh scones cream and jam...yum im putting on weight just thinking about them!
Movie tim tams are yum. We get them on special for about $1.89. So notmuch more in USD.
Good on you for making sushi. That was my Thursday lunch with the girl at work. Cooked tuna and avocardo or teriyaki chicken were my favourite. My mum loves the prawn one. What was in your fillings?
My aunty makes a yum sushi but I havent the thought of attempting myself!!!
Benny..wow you have that bright yellow thing in the sky...lucky you. We have those dark and white things inthe sky today...it doesnt know what its doing!
Well better head off. Want to make some sauce for tonights pasta as ds has kindy smack bang in the middle of the day!!! xxx -
Nihahi - will your Moh's procedure be done at the Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Center (old Children's hospital?). I don"t blame you for flinching at the description of the extent of excision, faces are different than bodies - hope you get in soon and get all of this over with quickly, with minimal scarring. Hope you get that hike in tomorrow.
Traii - hope you get some 'me' time during DS's kindy time - supper sounds like it will be a good one. How was the birthday celebration yesterday?
Movie - good to hear from you. Your sushi sounds wonderful
Benny - hope you didn't get lost in the lawn and managed to get out to see Diamond afterwards. It really does make such a difference to see the sun again. I gave my garden beds today to dry out a little but tomorrow I will be back in them doing a little more planting and pulling of weeds.
My hair is still doing it's own thing also, hope you feel comfortable without the wig before it gets too hot
Liefie - how was the jam making? Thanks for the tip re: Canadian Living website
Edi - sending more hugs, think of you daily
Carla - hope the last side effects of Taxotere are history for you
Caitlin - how are you doing?
Alive, Maria, everyone I missed mentioning by name - how are things with you? -
Birthday celebrations all around...june we had uncles last night and my mums tomorrow. Taking her out for lunch then the family will go over tomorrow night for more cake

Benny you will be suprised with how good the real hair wig is in summer trust me...i went through a hot hot summer here with mine on! -

Will catch up soon and post more!!! xoxoxox -
Alive, so very happy for your great path report, especially the clear nodes! YAYYYY!!!!!!!!! That will probably make a difference in what further treatments you will get. My guess is maybe just rads, maybe no chemo. Fingers crossed. Keep taking the pain meds, and rest a lot. You've been through the wringer, sister!
-
OH ALIVE......!!!!!!!! So happy for you! I thought I saw snotgrass flying around with a vengence!!!!
Enjoy the drain-free life, take the pain meds as you need them, keep healing!!!!!!
friggin computers/internet have been gremlins lately for many of us, but then we would never have met each other without it!
Websister...no, my Mohs surgeon has his own setup, lab techs and all, at his own clinic, so not at the Richmond Road locale.
-
Nihahi....I am going to ask a very stupid ?......what does MOHS mean? Perhaps you explained, but can I use my jet lag as an excuse? Very sorry to hear about this......why can't this cancer c**p go away? (Sorry, I know that sounds lame, but I am falling asleep as I type this.....).
I apologize....but I cannot finish my post.......falling asleep.....hope jet lag goes away soon!
Alive, glad things have turned out as well as they have. Good news!
Love to all.......
Namaste and god bless - Jackie -
Hi Ladies! I've been reading, but sorry I haven't been posting - have felt really tired for the past several days, and at the moment I seem to have some bone/joint pain and neuropathy (mainly in feet) just like I did after each Taxol treatment. Don't know if the tiredness is just a post-chemo effect, or what. Was definitely more activity when my family was here (Mum was here for 2 weeks until a week ago, then my brother and family were here for a week and left on Saturday), so that could be contributing too. Went for a ~2 mile walk on Monday night with a friend - felt good to get out in the fresh air (we've been having beautiful weather - sunny with temps in the 70 - 80 F range) and get some exercise, but man, when I got home, it was all I could do to crawl to the kitchen and heat up a can of soup before going to bed about 9 PM.
Supposed to start rads today. Was told it would be a longer session with discussion of treatment plan, more checking (I think they said X-rays) and then first treatment, before shifting to my regular schedule tomorrow. Hoping I can be scheduled early morning or late afternoon, so that I can go on my way to or from work. Still feeling pretty apprehensive about it because of left side issues - but RO assured me that they wouldn't do chest wall unless benefit outweighs risk.
My sister is having a mammogram/US today because of a breast lump that she says has become enormous in the past week or so. Hoping and praying it is nothing serious (she has a history of benign cysts).
Nihahi, sorry to hear about the issue with your face. Hope you are able to get that taken care of quickly, and that the description of the excision sounds worse than it actually is. Oh, and going back a bit in the posts, I'm with you on the S-word - give me bears any day! I'm okay with worms though - in fact, if I see one caught on the side walk after a rain storm, I usually stop to move him to some grass or soil.
Edi, really hope you're doing okay! Miss seeing your posts and hope you will be back here shortly.
Movie, can't believe your trip to Japan has come and gone. Hope you'll share more about it when you're over jet lag.
That's great news Alive! Hope you are recovering well.
Traii - like Nihahi, hoping this is the week you'll finally get your date! Nice to have so many family birthday celebrations all together. Oh, and I'm familiar with Tim Tams, having spent 7 years in New Zealand. I'm trying to remember the name of the bisc uits I really liked - think they had biscuit layer, caramel and were chocolate coated?
Back to work. Hope you all have a great day.
-
Caitlin...sending you and your sister well wishes. Fingers crossed for your sis.
I know what neuropathy is like...hope it passes soon. Massage your feet it eases the pain.
Thw biscuits you described sound like they are the crowns we get here...yum!
Well off to bed for me.
Enjoy your day ladies. -
Sweet Dreams, Traii.....
Caitlin....sorry to hear about your energy bonking!!!! Sure sounds like a combo of chemo fatigue and being more active. Gosh, are you working now too???? Hoping your rads go well for you. You've certainly been a real trouper!
Movie.....took me a couple weeks to get over the "coming back" jet lag....pace yourself or you're gonna get sick!!!!!! Mohs surgery means they inject the "area" to freeze it, then cut out the "suspicious" tissue. Then they slap a big wad of gauze on you, and you go sit in a waiting area with the rest of the day's patients. They do microscopic analysis of the tissue they've removed (preparing the slides takes usually around an hour, minimum). If they don't have clear margins, you go back to "the chair" and they cut out more (larger and/or deeper) and do the same thing again. This goes on until they have clear margins, then the surgeon closes the wound with a variety of techniques, the bigger the excised area, the more involved the closure technique. When this guy did my nose last December, I was there from 8:00 to 3:30, it took 3 different "cutting" sessions, and about 45 minutes of closure, using a weird flap technique that makes it look like zorro practiced on my nose. The freezing on my nose was OMG painful, and they kept having to "refreeze" me, the waiting was uncomfortable and difficult, the nursing staff were rude and insensitive.....basically a horrible day. I actually wrote a letter of complaint to this surgeon afterwards, for the first time in my life after a medical procedure. Now I get to go through it all over again....joy!
-
Awwww, Nihahi, I cringed when I read your description of the surgery on your nose, and sincerely hope it will be better this time! This pesky squamus cell thing, eh? My dad was plagued by it all his life, and had lots of 'cutting' done on his face and hands. He had an outside job, and could not avoid the (African!) sun. Always wore a hat, long sleeves, long pants in that heat - those were the days before sunscreen. But this is better than melanoma, right? Look on the bright side . . .
Sweet dreams, Traii!
Caitlin, it takes a long time to get over chemo. Took me 4 months PFC before I had the energy to go to the gym again, and then I started with 20 minutes at a time. Keep up the walking - it is so good for you, the fresh air too. Sleep and rest as much as you can. Sorry to hear about your sis, and hope it turns out to be benign.
Well, I have mixed the strawberries and sugar in two pots last night, and left it overnight to dissolve. Going to a meeting this morning, driving for the first time since surgery, and will go do a light grocery shopping afterwards. Then will come home and cook the jam. Hopefully I won't be too tired when I get back.
-
Hi Warrior Sisters,
Alive yay, so happy for you!
Websister, still sore but I do think it is getting better.
Ok this will be a quick note.. My Coastie son (Coast Guard) surprised all of us last night!! He came home for a visit. He came out and surprised in Dec for my surgery everyone knew about it but me... This time he surprised everyone! I only get him for one week but I'll take it!! Love love my kids!!
Love to all,
Carla
-
The Moh's procedure named after the surgeon who first used the technique - Dr. Frederick Moh - bit of trivia

Nihahi - glad you complained last time, hope this experience is much better for you
Caitlin - sending hugs, look after yourself and guard your energy well through rads. How many rads treatments are you looking at? Best wishes being sent to your sister, hopefully since it grew so quickly it is a benign cyst, no fun to keep going through the anxiety with every lump and bump
Traii - sweet dreams
Movie - hope you recover from the jet lag soon, looking forward to hearing more about your trip.
Today is sunny again so I'm going to get out and enjoy it.
Take care everyone -
Hi ladies -
Think my phone is having a brain fart no new emails then checked my iPad and low and behold .... Anyway

Nice here in the 70's got the pool open yay!!! Kids are in it now !!! Maybe they will actually sleep well tonight !!!
Gotta run last lacrosse game tonight !!!!
Hugs my besties!!!! -
Okay, jam all cooked and sitting in 13 little mason jars cooling down on the window-sill. Kitchen looks like a war zone, and sticky everywhere, but I am just too wiped out to care. Mustered just enough energy to peel an orange for lunch, and resting on the couch now. Will eat more later. Can't believe how tired I am.
Carla, yeah for your son coming home for a week - what a treat! He sounds like a darling. We are contemplating going to Edmonton for the weekend, and surprising oldest DS for his 29th birthday on Saturday, but it involves flying, which is expensive. DH says he can put the money to better use in his garden, and he is right. It would have been nice to see the kids. . . oh well.
Dakota, enjoy your pool and the lacrosse!
-
Carla so happy your son will be with you for a week...fun times
Liefie...hope you are well rested. You did well 13 jars..enough for one each...lol

nihahi hope your cheek is healing well xx -
Hi ladies just dropped in to say hello Traii hope your surgery is next week yes we are having miserable weather gloomy skies and cold. Just a quick question any of you girls taking DIM or a version of it. I have been on it for 5 years with tamoxifen and it makes me feel fantastic but some of the other forums have resided some questions in my mind. I had my est levels done when first diagnosed and I was est dominant with terrible side- effects after been on DIM for 3 months I had them re-checked and was not dominant any more and apparently I had the good estrog any way just thought I would put it out there
-
Yum I love homemade jam especially on French pastries
-
Hi ladies -
Dr appointments for me today. PS and MO!!!
Love the pool being open yes they will tire out quickly !!
Glad the jam is done !
Edi I miss u !!!!!
Gotta go in I will check on later
-
Dakota...do you ever NOT have a busy day??? Bet you "wow" your PS with how well you've done.
Delvzy....what's DIM? I have to confess, I just "snort" when you and Traii complain about your winter weather! Makes me chuckle.
Liefie...strawberry jam sounds lovely....glad that hubby does the cleanup though....I love cooking, hate the cleanup.
Websister....can you believe it.....another sunny morning....maybe we won't have to grow gills afterall!
Traii...hope the shopping went well, cheek is healing in, thanks.Got my surgery date....just a one week wait! Once I got the date, I'm now oddly "accepting" of everything, and like most of this year, just am ready to have it over with. Thanks guys, for letting me vent and pout, helped to get it out, and certainly to put things in perspective.
Maria....quiet lately.....you ok???
Carla...what a wonderful surprise to have your son home for a visit. Enjoy!!!!!!
Caitlin....thinking of you, trying to find that magic wand to zap the aches away for you.
Benny....with all the rain, and now sun, you're gonna be mowing that lawn as a fulltime job!!!!
Edi....Bon Voyage....enjoy your cruise with the girls.
Movie....are you still dipping into the saké????
-
Good morning sisters,
Edi, I guess you are already celebrating on board that ship? Enjoy yourself thoroughly - we're waiting for the stories . . .
Dakota, hope your appointments go smoothly, but then why won't they? Those docs will be mighty pleased with you, I'm sure.
Delvzy, you will have to explain the DIM. Never heard of it. Maybe it's the Australian name for something we know by another name here?
Websister, Nihahi, Benny, I know you girls are outside making the most of the lovely weather. Enjoy! I have to move the sprinkler every 30 minutes, but it is another glorious day here, so no problem. I've been counting the hydrangea flowers on the plants. Two of them have over 40 blooms each, and it is the first time that they are flowering so profusely. Once those blooms start opening up and blossoming, it will really be something to behold.
Nihahi, glad you're feeling so at peace about the upcoming procedure. Better to resign yourself, eh? I'm dishing out these 'wise' words to you while I'm so averse to any more procedures on myself - lol! DH checked my 'assets' out this morning, and said that I would probably 'just need a little lift and some fat grafting on the healthy side' - ummmppphhh!!!!!!!! Wonder how he will feel if he has to undergo that???!!! He can do with some lifting himself. On both sides - lol. And then there is still the little matter of a new nipple . . . don't even want to think about it. As far as I'm concerned I can do without it. Does not bother me at all. Maybe for symmetry I can just have the remaining nipple removed. . . LOL.
Traii, hope the shopping trip was fruitful? Are there many ex-South Africans in Melbourne? I know there are lots in Perth. Those who did not emigrate to Canada went to Australia - lol - and there are many of them there. Lots in Britain too.
Already gave away one jar of jam to a neighbour who gave us some squash and pumpkin seeds. Told her to eat it soon, as I am not an expert on jam making. Did all the necessary sterilizing procedures, but even so some jars can get mouldy on top. Will be baking those scones over the weekend if I can wait that long. LOL!
A good day to you all. Those in recovery, be it from chemo, rads or surgery, best wishes, and hope you are all doing well!
