You know, when things sound too ridiculous to be true, they usually are NOT true.
It turns out that yes, someone did recommend storing guns in a child's room, but in a gun safe. I'm not sure that that makes a difference; it just sounds a smidge better. And by smidge, I mean a tiny bit - like the size of an atom. Nowhere NEAR the size of a flying thumb with red eyes. (Still LOL-ing at PsychoLibby!)
In treatment news - I had Zometa today, and am scheduled for a echocardiogram and blood work next Tuesday. The bone scan and CT scan should be scheduled shortly. And THEN, they start the trial. They're hoping to start May 16. Keep digits crossed!

E- I'm making my digits into a Jewish star for you. It's really difficult and kinda painful, but hope it works!!!
-
All 10 paws crossed e. Tonight is my last hosp. Night. Then all mets of me will have access to my good old pc.
What a diary disrupter cancer is. And the zbamlower i can be a out it the better.:) -
Athena!!! much more understandable - hope you are coping - we've missed you - looking forward to hearing more from you.

Lioness, yeah, it is a real bitch how much cancer can cramp your style.
-
Dearest Athena - so very glad you will soon be home and back at your PC! I will miss the garblese, though. It's quite entertaining! :-)
-
Athena - we will be at your door cheering WELCOME HOME and have lots of time to hear all your news. This had been a long hospital "visit" - feels long for us, MUST feel a heckuva lot longer on your side
With Ache-E will miss the grable, interesting deciphering a lion's roar when her digits are at home...Thinking of you - and wondering if the cicadas are out in force yet... don't think anyone who hasn't lived with an invasion of them can imagine what it's like...
Ache-E ...you oughta see how cute we all look dancing with our toes crossed...not Lippanzeers, exactly, but definitely a look, as my favorite person in The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe would say about her clothes style. Has everyone read that book - it's the screenplay of Jane Wagner's world for Lily, what team. LOVE THEM. Also a video.
Hope eveyone finds something to SMILE about today...
-
Smiling at Athena's news......looking very forward to your homecoming. Hoping too that it is quiet and peaceful and cicada free. Happened here a long while ago and I'm certainly not looking forward to the 'next' invasion -- whenever that will be. There are always a few....but not enough to be actually troublesome.
All paws crossed for you.

something for fun:

-
Athena, waving your way!
-
Good to hear from you Athena - take care and get outa that hospital!!!
I've never seen a cicada - but I am definitely averse to large insects. I have a moth phobia, which I know is stupid, but have not been able to shake. They don't do anything but fly around, but I still get spooked by 'em.
We're still house/land hunting. I think maybe we've gone full circle and are starting to look back in Sequim again...
-
Athena: good to hear your roar, even if a little muted for now.

GG...are you looking for a bungalow, condo, acerage? Is there a shortage of available homes in your area? That was the problem for us so we moved to another community.
-
Thrilled to hear again from Athena (garblish or not, just a purr will do!)!
Here is a thought for today:

-
I'd like a bungalow, and would prefer to not live in a condo (I like a bit of dirt)... Our number one criteria is healthy (we both have vicious allergies, and too many homes have mold in them) - second is relatively inexpensive, so that we can travel. - but that means that at least a double car garage is required - and one that the truck + camper can fit into. Sounds easy, but we've found that sounding and being are two distinctly different things!
I'm not even remotely interested in acreage - our last two places were 1+ and 2+ acres respectively and each took far too much time to keep up, more than that would do me in, I'm certain. There aren't many homes in our area that meet our criteria. The thing that keeps us in the NW is salmon fishing - which hubby loves - and many of the homes, though near water - have prohibitive fishing rules/seasons. You can fish for salmon - but only when none of them are around
. The homes that fit our healthy criteria are too often in housing developments with a list of CC&Rs that are mind boggling - and basically come down to "if I don't like you, I can make your life truly miserable". Although that's true anywhere to a certain extent - I'm not very good at going hat in hand to a committe and asking if I can pretty please put up a fence, or paint my house or smoke salmon. I'm certain we'll find something - but it may take a little longer than we had wanted.... We are OK moving to a different community (looking at Sequim for example), but Sequim is about 10 degrees cooler than Seattle/Tacoma in the summer, and I love heat, so I'm under-enthused about it - but am certainly willing to make the move if it means getting this over with - but again, the salmon fishing is very limited - so I'm still hoping for closer to Tacoma.
The good thing is that there are many homes coming on the market. The bad thing (for us - not for the local economy) is that a large insurance company is moving their home office here, so there are a lot of people looking.
-
That was our problem too. There were some things we just needed to have. We want this to be our last home that will accomodate us as we age. We were fortunate to find everything we wanted, and more, although it is 1 1/2 hours from our children right now.
-
GG - you smoke your own salmon?! That sounds scrumptious.
-
Mmmmmm....
-
Being close to children is a non-started, as they (son and family) live in Hawaii. We decided that we want to be able to make rather whimsical plans to travel around the country. From Hawaii you cannot be whimsical - planning ahead would be a criteria - and we have been too limited for too long, so need the whimsy at least for a bit. Hopefully this will be our last house - but who knows. I've decided that I'm going to be like bamboo.... and bend in the wind.

-
I love whimsy. It's one of my favorite words.
-
Great Lioness, ssoooooooo good to hear from you. Hope you are busted out of the hospital and back in your own den real soon. I hope you had a nice chaplain visit and bring chocolates

From our good friend, PinkAmy:

-
Love the map E and great to hear from Athena.
-
love the map - what happened to Africa????
-
Canada uninhabited, eh?

-
Africa? Wasn't that a movie about blue-skinned aliens?
Oh psshhhhht....we know that Canada's inhabited. By like, 20 people living in igloos and traveling by dog sled.
