Finally had some fun, so I can join back in. March was a horrid month for me. Actually the first 8 days were wonderful. Had a business trip to Portland OR and had a wonderful time hanging out with many of my favorite professional colleagues. But after I returned, it just sucked. My father died, and then I had my thyroid removed and spent a night in the hospital. Not a month of fun at all!
But, on Friday a friend was coming to Dana Farber for a followup appointment with her oncologist. Friday night I cooked up some lamb chops, made zucchini pancakes and baked corn I had stashed in the freezer last September. And then we sat in the living room and chatted until all hours of the night. Saturday we finally mobilized and went to see the ocean. We walked along the sand, searching for shells and other ocean debris as we walked. Last night we went out to a fish restaurant for dinner. It was great! They have updated the menu and found some new spices and herbs to create more interesting food. Another night of chatting, though we both crashed much earlier. This morning, was sad to see her drive off..... but what a wonderful weekend!

Jill,
Thank you for sharing your Florida pictures. The picture with the pool in the background is tantalizing. I am getting tired of being cold.

Glad you had so much fun. This is my first time posting anything. Just started Faslodex 2 days ago. Does it get any better? Makes me feel like crap, kinda has floored me. I still insist on having some fun though. Husband and I went on a date last night. Dinner and a show.

Sorry about your father, Susan.
Glad things are getting better for you.
Forgot to mention while in Florida I bought some maple sugar candies for me and my son who is more hooked on them than I am. Less expensive there too.
I have more energy today than I have had in the past four months due to skipping a treatment and due to the steroids I took this morning in preparation for tomorrow's infusion. Did lots of cleaning and organizing and thinking about going to Balkan folk dancing tonight to take advantage of the rest of the energy. -
Trained to Philly today, saw our young friend do us proud in her show at the Academy of Music, walked down the street to a favorite restaurant, then strolled through Rittenhouse Square, which was packed with people and dogs--and one cat on a leash!--enjoying a glorious spring Sunday.
I do lots of stuff for fun, but this day was a standout, maybe because spring has finally sprung in the mid-Atlantic states.

Today was gs Jordans birthday. Dd had to work but I had him for the afternoon. Of course the present that I was the most excited about was a v-tech computer for toddlers. He looked at it for a total of about a minute and then played with his spiderman piggy bank and a plane I got him at the dollar store for the rest of the afternoon. Then he tried to con me into letting him "hold" his cupcakes on the way home. Yeah, right. But as usual, he was a sweetie and I think he had a good time. They grow so fast!
-
Jill, Thank you for posting those photos. You look beautiful ! Only you would come home thinking about Balkan Dancing. You are my hero!
Tina, your weekend sounds awsome too. I had my old friend from 1978 visit yesterday and it was just wonderful. Needless to say, we have alot to talk about.
Mary wh....I'm glad the party went well. He's so darn cute!
I'm hoping to lose side effects this week by Friday, want to take a trip to Palm Springs with my daughter and grandaughter. I may actually go up there twice this week. My friend is still here and if I can drive on Wed, I may just go there twice Fun!
-
finally enjoying the warm weather. Its going to be in the 80s the rest of the week. Yay! The only problems now are the green on our cars and the turkey poop fertilizer, not to mention getting stuck behind farmers tractors 5 times a day.
-
Wonderful pics Jill! You look fabulous!
-
Thanks, Lana! Just can't bring myself to do the wig thing this time around. Hard to believe I wore one for two years...even on a hot beach!
-
Just returned from a week in Rarotonga.
My mummy stayed at our home and looked after our children while DH and I relaxed on a beautiful island.
Swimming, reading, pampering, talking and enjoying us time with the love of my life.
Feeling rejuvenated and very loved -
Very nice, KeepingFaith.
-
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Its hard to get back to reality isnt it?
-
Faith, I hope it was like the beach scene in the
thornbirds. They eat fruit and drink wine and mess about in the ocean. Its so romantic
You deserve that picture
I'm hoping it was something like that.
My best friend from ever ago, invited me up to her rental in Palm springs,,,,,don't be jealous midwesterners. It was in the 90s and we spent the day in the pool. We had a cookout too. Just wonderful time

Oh that sounds like fun. Its not just midwesterners that would be jealous of Palm Springs although we have been in the 80s the past couple days, weather is trying to get stormy tonight, and everything is green from the pollen. Hope you had a wonderful time.
-
The Beach...you ladies enjoy it. And you will enjoy it more knowing that us "midwesterners" are sitting smack in the middle of an ice storm here in Wisconsin. Winter won't ease up on us this year. It's TOO much. My poor little tulips next to our house came up only to be toppled in snow and ice. We have yet to see 50 degrees. You guys enjoy that beach! I am jealous. Soak up the sun for me
I am living vicariously through all of you!
-
I'm so envious, keepingfaith and soleil. We are having such extended icky weather here in Europe. I'd love to be in Rarotonga or Palm Springs. I went to a day spa to make me forget about the weather.
-
Hi Soleil, that is exactly how it looked. Still feeling the bubble of joy and rejuvenation.
Enjoy your trip to Palm Springs and especially the company of a wonderful old friend.
Thanks ladies - if I knew how to attach a pic I would show you my smile that went from one ear to the other.
If you want to see the FB pics, pm me and I'll send you my details. -
Well tomorrow is gs Chuckecheese birthday party. Havnt been since my kids were little. Cant wait to play the winnie the pooh and the honey-pot game and slapping alligators. The last time we went the kids were getting mad at my mom because she wouldnt let anybody else on the game. She was about 78 years old at the time.
-
That's funny...about your mom not letting anyone else at the game! Have fun! 3yr old boys are so much fun! My little best friend wanted to sleep with me the other night and I assured him that his father would be home to sleep with him soon so he said, "But I wanna sleep with someone with no hair and a bald head!"
-
Jill...that gave me a chuckle!!! Kiddos have such a beautiful way of approaching things--- they even think baldness can be cool!! My DS was like that when I lost my hair...he got to help DH shave my head, and wanted to make a mowhawk (even if I only kept it like that for 10 min!)

Container Gardening Success:
Back in the fall, someone on this thread--was it you, "Susan?--gave me some great advice. I was experimenting with planting spring flowering bulbs in containers and expressed concern about marauding animals digging up/eating them. At your suggestion I covered the containers with chicken wire. I monitored the pots all winter in a corner of the driveway, then several weeks ago moved them to a fenced area of the yard and removed the chicken wire.
As a result we now have two big potsful of gorgeous, blooming orange and yellow tulips with fantastic dusty green and purple varigated leaves. Thank you!
-
Tina,
How beautiful that sounds. Still too early here for much of any greenery. But, trust me, everyone in the Boston area is ready for Spring to come.

Had gs birthday party today. Had a great time, I think the adults had more fun with the games than the kids. The only damper on it was that somebody stole gs new light-up spiderman shoes while we were there. He pitched a fit poor baby. Dh and I had to go get him another pair. dd was so upset, we're from the country and forget what people can be like. Shes a single mom and works so hard for her money. but other than that it was a good day.
-
Mary,
Glad the party was a success. I can't believe someone stole his new shoes! Were you in a public place? Oh, that is soooooo low.
Caryn -
Yep, this was a kids pizza and game place. Full of little kids and their parents.
-
Who would just steal a little kid's shoes? Their are some heartless thieves out there. Still i'm glad the party was a sucess! My containers are looking pretty good. I made one mistake. Bit plastic pots are a mistake. I drilled holes in them and thought they were fine. Then we had a few days of rain and the dirt turned moldy. I thought the sunshine would just fix that, but whew, the dirt is still smelly.
luckily, I only have 4 of these things.
Had the most wonderful birthday with my daughter and grandaughter. We went to these amazing botanical gardens, spent most of the day there. I'll ost pictures once I get my camera back from those two !
I'm sorry for you frigid ones. I did live in the midwest most of my life so I know. A late spring is just the worst. Hope it washes out of there soon.
