What are you doing for fun??

Well, back to the real world for me. Got back from Fla. last night. We had the best time. Weather couldnt have been better, 80s all week. Went to all the touristy places and spent a ton of money we shouldnt have spent, but it was so worth it. Didnt make it to the keys, but did make it to South Beach, which was really fun. Got to see how the rich and famous live. The boats are bigger than most peoples houses. This was probably the best vacation Ive ever been on. There were so many different kinds of people there, I went the whole week bald and nobody gave me a second glance which was wonderful. Its so nice to fit in with people who dont care how you look, and you dont care how your head looks either.
-
I'm glad you had a great time Mary! When I was bald I went "topless" a lot. Everyone in my small town knows my story so nobody gave it a second thought. In fact, I got a lot of compliments on my pretty head! LOL!
-
Mary, sounds like a perfect time. I saw yachts like that in Fort Lauderdale last year. They boggle the mind.
I love that you were bald and proud throughout your stay. I assume you slathered that lovely scalp with sunscreen!

Mary,
I'm so glad you had such a wonderful time. My daughter used to live in South Beach. The restaurants there are amazing! Just thinking of them is making me hungry.
Just so happy to hear you had fun!
-
Mary .... Love those words, "best vacation ever."

I love gardening. It's so rewarding to see the earth come back to life after it's winter slumber. One of the things I love about living in Kansas is the winter wheat. Just when I've had about enough of the dreary winter browns the wheat greens up. In my little garden I've got sprouting of the things I've planted, the strawberries are coming back to life and the plants I've planted are thriving. Love it.

Years ago a friend gave us three small magenta Christmas trees of varying heights. The tallest is about 15 inches. This evening I stuck pink, lavender and orange rabbit Peeps into the branches and a yellow Peep at the top of each to make an decoration for the sideboard in our dining room. It's wonderfully silly looking. I hope our Easter dinner guests get as much of a kick out of seeing it as I did making it!

Back already, Mary? Glad you enjoyed it! We must just have bad timing. It is cold here now! At Clearwater Beach with my daughter in the hotel drinking hot chocolate!
-
Jill,it started getting cold Tues. before we left. Hope youre having a great time even though its cold. I got a raging case of sun poisoning on my legs but its getting better now. If its not one thing its another, right?
-
Oh Jill,
that stinks. Is it warm in mid afternoon at least?
Tina, those trees sound so cute! Yesterday we hung a bunch of plastic eggs on the palm tree at the side of the yard. It came out pretty nice, I think. My grandaughter and I dyed the eggs. Now I get to do everything else. But I have a few days, so I can do it slowly.
Not a huge holiday, but always fun to decorate.
-
How fun Tina! Sounds adorable.

I had a treat last night- my son was down from up north and my daughter was available, so the four of us had dinner together like old times.
I also had a lovely lunch with my son after my doc appointment and was able to catch up with his busy life. He's getting married in August, and there are so many plans- work, wedding, vacation, law school-- being 20-something is a great time in life. I'm so thankful that I'll be here for his wedding! I have to find a dress, though, and it's proving quite a challenge. Oh, and the wedding ceremonly may wind up being in our backyard! They're considering it, and will let us know soon. I'm crossing my fingers, as that would really be wonderful. A bit of work, but wonderful.

I spent about an hour looking at the peeps dioramas that Tina send me and that was a very silly happy hour.
Dume progression is causing nausea but I don't want to turn into couch person( I was couch person when I had pneumonia) Lucky I didn't grow roots onto the couch. So, my grandaughter is coming and we're going for a walk. I'm very happy about this. I need a walk.
Tomorrow is Easter. We decorated the palm tree with plastic eggs and we're having Easter dinner. Its almost ready, so I'm very excited about that.
Sandilee, so happy for your son and for you!
Happy Easter everyone!

Spring is bringing us some beautiful weather now. I hope its eeking its way over to all of you. We're in the 70s and its heavenly.
We;re planning a weekend trip to Palm Springs in two weeks. Should be fun. In the meantime, I'm taking that bike out every day and riding along the ocean. The water sparkles and it just lifts the spirit so high.
Ocean, I'm back to visiting you!
-
I'm posting this for you Soleil. Praying the big G will kick back those new cells gone wild. I'm doing for fun, a lovely crochet baby afghan for my future grandbaby...I hope, if all goes well during this first trimester. I took it up again after 27 years and went to a local meet up group for knitting and crochet.
Also, I won a vacation retreat from Little Pink Houses of Hope. A week in the sun at Carolina Beach, NC April 14 to the 20th. For those of you interested, I heard it hear from another BC.org member and applied with their application on line. Google Little Pink Houses of Hope for more info.....

Life hasn't been full of much fun of late. But, Spring is coming. We have been working out in the yard, expanding the tomato beds and digging out a new bed for perennial herbs. There is something about the end of winter that makes everything seems possible. No bicycling by the ocean. I should do that! Such a great idea.

Can't think of anything more fun than that, Mary!
. Just got back from Florida and am anxious to see my three year oldest best friend!
-
Did you have a great time in Fl.? Last time I heard from you it was cold. I really want to go back, it was 45 degrees here and raining all day.
-
Yes we did end up having a good time...first two days were cold and the first two days I didn't feel well but by last Wednesday I pretty much had my normal energy back..felt better than I have in months! We did a lot while there. I would have liked the weather to be even warmer though. Might try to post some pics tomorrow.
Have a great time at that adorable little boy's birthday party! -
Carolina Beach is a nice place. We used to go there as teenagers, and still drive through there when we're at the coast. Hope you have a wonderful time.
-
Just gotten hooked on tai chi! Have to avoid high impact exercise due to bone mets, so tried this and now can't wait for my class 3x a week! I come out of there SOOO relaxed and invigorated!
-
Please post some pics Jill!
Warrmer weather has set in here. Afternoons are washed with sun. I was a ble to take a walkk yesterday, which was awsome.
ranger mom, those pink houses of hope looks wonderful! When are you going?
-
Love the pic of you kayaking, Soleil! Looks like fun. And I know exactly what you mean re: your granddaughter being 14.... Lol. And Caryn, is Ruzzle an Internet game?

Weekend Fun:
A friend of mine is organizing an egg hunt tomorrow for her adorable three-year-old and her teeny pals. I've been invited and I'm going to take my camera along. I love kids, plus I have a feeling that mommy doesn't have a lot of photos of herself with her child, so I intend to remedy that.
We're taking the train to Philly on Sunday to see a young friend perform a lead role in a musical that's been touring the U.S. and Canada.
In between I'll do laundry and weed the garden, both chores I find more gratifying than onerous--particularly when the weather is beautiful.

Leaving Colorado for Sanibel Island tomorrow. Going on one of the Road Schlor programs so everyday is planned. 45 years ago my husband and I got married and lived at the Air Force base in Fort Walton Beach so it was like a long honeymoon. My husband is sweet and said this will be like a second honeymoon. Glad my nurse said I cannot be in the sun. Bought a white cotton long sleeved shirt and 100 SPF. Can't wait to watch the sunsets along the Gulf.

Hope you have a great time on your trip. Birthday plans for Jordan had to be moved to next week-end. dd's ex is being a jerk and wont let her keep him this week-end. Dont know why cause he doesnt keep him the week-ends hes got him anyway. But I will get to have him for a while Sunday afternoon, and its going to be sunny and warm so we'll do a little celebration and save the big stuff for next week-end when we'll do the whole Chucky-Cheese (sp?) thing. I think Im more excited over his birthday than he is. I love to shop for him. Hes at such a fun age...

Oh Sue!!!
Sanibel island. what a beautiful place! I hope you just have the best time. Bring us home some seashells, please
