JTilCT, pfc can be Post Final Chemo or Post Fu**ing Chemo take your pick.  They are used interchangably here.

I think I would be affraid to do the tatoo thing to.  You would have to know the artist and be familiar witht their work.

I like the Origins creamy sunscreen- I think it has a brightening luminous effect. I have gone through many jars! It's called BRIGHTER BY NATURE.

Yes I agree that although I'm tempted to get my eyebrows tatooed I am scared about the outcome being permanant even if I don't like it.  For now I just fill them in with makeup.  I suppose they may still thicken up a bit.  Its been two years since chemo now.

I second the recommendation for a clarisonic brush.  I got one for christmas and my skin looks so much better and smoother.  I use the brush with neutrogena cleanser and then use NeriumAD night cream.  Could not be happier with how my skin is looking!!!

    Hi everyone

i rarely come to this site anymore, mainly because it's so darn hard to navigate, and we've lost so many ladies.

however, wanted to weigh in on a few things and ask a few questions to the group:

    1. Clarisonic- ROCKS. Love it. I use it with a Turmeric based face wash every other day. My skin looks great when I do this.
    2. Just bought Hylaruonic Acid Serum, anxious to try it.
    3. I am a Vitamin "B", aka Botox user. LOVE IT. Any others?
    4. Wondering about Restylane injections-- anyone had these? I am not apt to use a lot of products that are not tested, tested, tested, so wondering if anyone has experience with that.
    5. Can you tell I am freaking out about wrinkles?

What a great thread this is.

I worked for many years in the cosmetics business for many top houses, and had my own business doing hair and makeup for weddings and events. Did a stint of makeup at a TV station too.

I was approached recently at a Cancer Forum to be a volunteer for "Look Good Feel Better". I have decided to give it a go, and am waiting for information on their workshops etc.

I have been fortunate, and haven't had to have chemo or rads after my Mx, but I am always careful as to the cosmetics I use myself. I try to stay away from parabens, and mineral oils, etc

I like a really natural look for makeup, and am usually drawn to the brown and the taupe colors for most eye colors. I never go without a highlighter, and have found that YBF cosmetics have replaced almost every other brand for me now. They are available on most shopping networks and are anvery reasonable price.

Stacey, the owner of the company has devised a pretty foolproof range which has a few "Hero" products. Her Yellow Powder and Neutralizing Creme are fantastic, and can delete dark circles! Her eyebrow pencil is great, although I am a devotee of Smashbox Brow Tech with the wax and the powder. Her eyeshadows are subtle, and she does compacts with all matte colors. Even when she does a Shimmer Shadow, it never has sparkles, not that I have seen, anyway. The eye pencils in this range are very soft and have a smudger on the end, so you don't need to be perfect at drawing a line. I have tried just about everything in the range, and haven't returned a thing.

If I learn anything that I feel is relevant from these workshops, I'll let you all know.

hello all.  Marianna LaFrance...where are you located?  I know several botox/restylane users who no longer get injections because they started using a new wrinkle cream.  The Nerium cream is wonderful and has made me look much younger (my hubby too).  I use this religously with a mild cleanser and my clarisonic.  But, it is currently only available in the US.  If you are in the US check it out...www.gerdes.theneriumlook.com.   It is botanically based, no parabens, and has a fair amount of testing behind it.  I'll have to ask around to see how my restylane friends feel about thier injections.

Marianna, I love the Clarisonic as well.  I started using it in late December, just before starting chemotherapy.  Do you mind sharing the name of your tumeric based cleanser?  I am a curcumin/turmeric lover (looking forward to once again taking curcumin with bioperine once chemotherapy ends).

Re: Botox - I had it injected a few times about a decade ago.  I just wasn't that thrilled with it but it's hard for me to describe exactly why I didn't end up wanting to do it again.

sig76, I just took a screenshot of your post about Nerium.  Thanks for the info.  I'm going to Google it right now.

Ariom, anyone diagnosed with cancer can go to the LGFB session, but I bet they want you there for your own knowledge!! The volunteers are just "normal" every day ladies who want to help somehow. Perhaps they want you to LEAD the session???? You'd be GREAT!

Ok, Spring is coming and I'm still searching for a safe, non-greasy sun protection lotion. I want something I can wear on my face under makeup. I'm willing to slather on Badger if I'm going to be outside, but not for every day on my face. My skin is fairly oily and about midday it has combined with the Badger and begun to run into my eyes, where it really stings. I have had basal cell on my forehead and do wear hats, but I'm not sure that's enough protection.

Wren44, I think Neutrogena makes an oil-free sunscreen, with a fairly high SPF, that you might try. I've had almost a dozen basal cells on my face and 3 Mohs surgeries -- and I live in the Caribbean most of the year - so I have to be very, very careful. For outside, I use Blue Lizard for the face, made in Australia and sold by my dermatologist. But it definitely leaves a white mask on your face. I'm not sure whether makeup would cover it or not.

I use the Neutrogena stuff. It can go on a little white though but not bad. Also some of the stuff they use for babies might be good. I know I have sensitive skin so a lot of this stuff makes me break out. The Neutrogena doesn't.

My husband is an airline pilot and we are very careful about him getting too much sun up at altitude.  He also uses Neutrogena sunscreen.  It doesn't make him break out and doesn't feel as greasy as most.  They make it in very high SFPs.   I've heard great things about blue lizzard but I don't think it is something you would want to wear everyday or under makeup.  Good luck!

Hi barbe, Thanks for that! yep, they want me to volunteer for my area. I would be happy to do that, because I know most of the volunteers are "Normal" as you said. LOL I think it was when they heard I had just had a Mx, and had the cosmetic experience that they appproached me. They were recruiting at the Forum because they need more people with experience.

I volunteered years ago in Melbourne when I worked for Clarins. I really enjoyed it. There aren't many volunteers for the region I live in now, but there are many women undergoing treatment, so it could be a really interesting thing to do.

We are very fortunate here that we have several McGrath Foundation breast nurses, and an enormous amount of support from different organisations that do lots of fundraising for BC , so the network is wide.

I have been using a moisturizer from Aveda- Botanical kinetics hydrating lotion.  I really like it and Aveda has no chemicals.  Only thing is it is expensive.

I looked up the Neutrogena on ewg.org/skindeep and it rated a 7 (not good). I did find some makeup that's a 3 and contains sunscreen.

Another thing you might consider is TIZO, a ' facial mineral fusion' that's a matte-finish, flesh-colored sunscreen with spf of 40. My dermatologist recommended it, and it's what I use when I go out in public, I can use it instead of foundation.

EsteLauder BB cream is a tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 perfect for daily running around.I use a heavier sportsblock like Neutrogena sport face SPF 70 when I hit the beach.I find regular sunscreen too heavy for my face.

What does the BB stand for? I've seen it on numerous products and can't figure it out.

    Beauty Balm, I think.

I think it is "Beauty Balm" now, but I believe I  read that it started as "Blemish Balm",  used by German Dermatologists who developed it for soothing skin after procedures like peels etc.

It was then picked up by Celebrities who loved the idea of one product that addressed a number of issues. "BB" became the buzz word in moisturisers containing multiple ingredients including sunscreen.

    LeeA

My cleanser with turmeric is called Himalaya Herbal, and I bought it at Whole Foods. It has Neem and Turmeric in it, and cleanses beautifully. It really has made a difference in my skin.

I've been on the hunt for some lightening agents that are natural as well. I have some discoloration from the sun on my face, and am scared to use hydroquinone based products. I've tried just applying lemon juice to my skin (which looks amazing afterwards for about 5 hours, btw), but it has not really alleviated the sun spots that I have on my upper cheeks.

I still have not tried the hyluronic acid, mainly because I was traveling for business and didn't want to mess with my skin routine while on the road. I will give it a try this weekend.

Thank you for clarifying what BB cream is, too. I have wondered that, and didn't know what the fuss was about. Is it basically a foundation, or is it a tinted moisturizer?

Does anyone know if you can use regular hair spray on a synthetic hair wig? I bought "wig" hairspray but I think it works about as good as water!

Call a wig shop and ask. My guess is the wig might lose all it shine.

OK not cosmetic but could classify as "girly". I remember Apple used Zenni for eyeglasses. I went to site and attempted to work my way through. Got easily frustrated, tired and quit. Anybody have any suggestions for using it? I find the facial profiles limited though I can get DH to load one this weekend. And big questions is how do you get them adjusted to fit your face? I'm always whacking mine on doorframes or goat bashes into me. Optometrist wanted $550 for lenses only but did admit RX change was not enough to warrant changing. This girly though pretty plain jane could want something stylin' for the right price. I have progressive lenses, plastic, reflective coating, polished edges (one eye much worse). I know all this adds up but LOVE the frames cost. Fire away any and all answers. Got another BCO buddy also looking so your answer will be at least double the money.

Besides this site needs some activity.

Good to hear something from this site...thanks for posting luv my goats.

I would like info on the glasses too...but tonight I am here to ask about eye liner (57 years old, never wore it, but my lashes and eyes are disappearing)  Ok, when i put on Loreal with the twist up kind, on the upper lid, about 5 hours later, I find it below my lower lashes. I can't imagine why other than stress or dry eyes is making me squeeze my eyes hard shut?

I should have started this when i was 14 like everyone else, sheesh, tough learning at 57. :-)
