HUGE Headache..so will only just come in for a one drinkie winkie dealio...as if.....  I have to get off this puter tho cause my Rees needs me....He is such a pain in my ass...I said it ASS....I found that rolling up a magazine and slapping it on something to make a loud sound works for biting....SuZ..I used your recomedation the past two days of putting him in the crate while I work.  I never got into the Dark Tower series but Rolan from that series is also the dark one in the Stand.....see..lots of his books cross refrence in some way and i always like to look for him when they make a movie from his books as he always has a roll although very small.

    I hate to vacuume.

Good morning, Loungettes!  Snowing here, but not hard and not blowing, back to light fluffy stuff.  The "Blizzard" stuff has been moved east, but I may still get some wind today.  Like that's anything new.  Pretty, though.

Juliet--not good that the scar is still hurting, and I can understand why you want to see your own doc.  Hope it doesn't take long to get all the hoops jumped through.  Maybe you could see the worker's comp doc AND your doc and get 2 opinions?

Cammy--if your kids succeed in teaching Fred/Sox to wipe his feet have them tell me how!  In the meantime enjoy the entertainment! Your doc has cancelled the procedure AGAIN?????  And I remember the Patty Duke show, it was funny! And you aren't bothering, you are entertaining!

ORLA--wish I had one like that!

Cammy--the sea salt thing is tricky.  It has just as much sodium, the culprit in salt, as table salt.  It does have other minerals in it that are not in table salt, and some are very important minerals the body needs in small amounts.  IF used exactly like table salt there is a very, very, very small reduction in sodium intake, but most people use more sea salt thinking it's "good for me" or "better" than table salt and end up with more sodium intake than before.  Some sea salts do have a bit of a different taste, and that can be fun to cook with, but generally speaking salt is salt.  Except for Mrs. Dash, which is a good substitute that tastes pretty good, too!

Mema--Yeah, I try to stay away from the chocolate attitude adjusting, but some days I just really need the chocolate.  And it was Valentine's Day, and there was chocolate EVERYWHERE (except at my house).  So I gave in.  I have done journaling before, it does help.  Maybe I should dig out one of my note books and start up again.  Sometimes it scares me when I go back and read what I wrote in the past.  ~  Knowing what is causing the back pain goes a long way to making it bearable, I think.  I praying your back pain doesn't get worse for a very, very, very, very, very, very long time, if ever.  ~~ I was only covering call from 5pm to midnight Friday night.  I go back to work tomorrow am as usual.  The nurse the works the weekends needed Friday off this last week.  Compared to working every weekend covering a few hours once in a while is a cake walk!  ~~Yes, Rolan, Suzanna, Jake, the little thing that was Jake's "pet"--Aha!  Suzanna's Song was one of the stories in that series!  Dark Tower:  I:  the Gunslinger,  II:  The Drawing of the Three, III:  The Waste Lands, IV:  Wizard and Glass, The Wind Through the Keyhole, Wolves of Calla, VI:  Song of Susanna (I almost had it right), VII:  which has no name other than the Dark Tower VII.  NO, I did not remember all this, I found the  official website.  ~~It wasn't Sadie who likes the squirt bottle, she does NOT like getting squirted or sprayed.  One of my other dogs did like it, though, and would come running up to me with her mouth wide open whenever she saw a squirt bottle in my hand!  It did distract her, but not quite the way I had in mind1

Juliet--I'm with you, hate to hear about someone hurting.  I guess we nurse just keep trying to fix things!

    Good night, Cammy!

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is The Salty Dog

    5 oz grapefruit juice

    1 1/2 oz gin

    1/4 tsp salt

Pour all ingredients over ice cubes in a highball glass. Stir well and serve. (Vodka may be substituted for gin, if preferred.)

Oh NM u fooled me--I thought what a memory wow--then u admit u looked it up LOL And the DOTD is apprapo for our salt consumtion hahaha-Thank u NM for soling the salt mystery of the seasalt--I was telling Lori my SIL has to have salt--I don't know what u call it but when he sweats it doesn't replace itself at all so the Drs. tol him to eat saltenes or pretzels on a job especilly or he can pass out and if he's working on a high bldg that wouldn't be so good.???  So the salt shaker sits by him, some kind of sodium mishp in his system. Les can't have it, I can't have it so we got used to Joey not having it. They cook with frsh food but use alot of garlic and pretend salt. LOL

Oh I hope everyone checks in theis morning. and Orange feels better.

I had 2 straight hrs of really vilent (sp) diarrhea las nite I was up most of the nite and I did eat dinner and 10 minutes later I was in the bthroom, and I thought oh this is the time not to eat and take that stuff cuz I'd be so empty it would be a breeze. NM the Er Dr. gave me pyridium??? I looked it up and don't understand it but SE rapid heart beat maybe, that's why I can't take so many pain pills so I'm a little nerveous about that. Now see how weird I am--he asked me about the cancer in my back--(I know nothing about tht) and that's not freakin' me out it's this damn med. I know he didn't mean it like just telling me he was asking abiut it--so I wasn't upset with him at all. so u guys are on call for me today LOL

I'm glad u have a full day off so u can enjoy the little bit of snow---u missed alot for once. It's sunny here but cold--I'm all wrapped up in a blanket. hahaha

    Ok I'll be back

Cami, glad you were able to get your meds and not have to wait. We shall be thinking, eating and drinking for you today and tomorrow, K? And we will all be with you during your procedure. Are there any cuties?

Let me just say that Cami is just as funny on the phone as she is on here. I just love that goylie! And of course, she is just as sweet!

Kathy, thanks for the info, I was just going by what it says on all of the food labels. Mayo Clinic says the same thing that you posted. I know your DD was glad to have her DD home again and missed her, but she had to know how much fun she was having with you. How is your DH doing? Nevermind, I see you answered that.  Did Earleen tell you when your eyes would be the way they should be?

NM, have those hot flashes gone away, or just not as bad. I am SOOOOO looking forward to October. And wow, you make your own bagels. Not sure is DH is doing so good or not. I made some rilled hamburger steaks for him, 2 big ones and no salt, some potato au graten, no salt other than what was in the cheese and some corn that I put up, again no salt. Dinner in about an hour and he has to munch on cheese! 1 cubic inch has 170 mg of sodium. I took it away from him when I read that, and he says “all I’ve had today was shredded wheat and some Gatorade.”  Like he was mad at me when I took it. Then at dinner, he loads his hamburger steaks up with A1 sauce (280 mg per TBSP)! Prolly had at least 3 tbsp’s of that.  I too like to use Mrs Dash. Please be careful with all of that heavy snow.

LOL, I see da devil is on a roll!!!!!

Yes Lara skip that fill, don’t take any chances.

Kathy, isn’t it nice to be able to say “that was 5 years ago”. My 5 years is coming up this April.

DorK, sawry bout de hangober, but glad glad glad dat you had sum fun. We missdid yese.

Cyn you get D next month and I get Pwoud Mary. Gonna be a good month. So how IS Rees doing with the crate? Oh I bet those little toofers are sharp! Funny that you like the rain to be lazy. I prefer to be doing something. Chatting with you goils is my lazy time.

Dats funny about Sadie grabbing her toy at the last minute before darting out the door. She one smart puppy.

Oh Julie, I hope it’s nothing and that they will pay. Did you fill out an incident report when it happened? I hope Kathy can get her DH to get checked, like you said. I mean what’s the big deal, right? And thanks again for more info on DH and the salt.

I see Cami on a roll too! Talking all that drug smack and Cyn with pants on fire! And the Pope retiring cuz all the techy stuff! Well CHIT and DOUBLE CHIT, I guess we don’t have to eat and drink for you, as you got canceled yet again.

Sea salt is natural, it is better for you, but still has a lot of sodium, there is something else that sea salt doesn’t have, that salt does. I think that’s it.

Sue, I hope your back is doing better girl, and I hope you neber eber get to that “debilitating” stage. Another reason Cami doesn’t like for her DD to go with her, is after they get home her DD will say/do things like, well the doctor said this, and the doctor doesn’t want you to do that, or the doctor said you need to do this. Cami just wants to know, if it’s an important pill I gotta take, fine. Just give it to me, I don’t need to know why. She likes to know as little as possible, and only wants to know the important stuff. Doen’t want anything explained.

Did I say that right Cami? And remember, you have to tell your cat scan story!!!!! You need some ear plugs to drown out de vacuum!

Ok, been writing and reading for an hour and a half, time to grab a Salty Dog (Hair of the Dog for Dork) and gets meese EWWA mobbing! Luv y’all so beery muchly!

Oh I love chanane in orange juice makes me feels good.

Lori I'm laughin cuz u explain everything better than I do or could and when I reading it I think boy does she get me. hahaha And I think this is the one about my scan that she means----when things started and got the usual questions my Dr. asked about why I finally decided to get all these tests done and waited so long. As it was I told them I had a cat scan already---they were???? and I said yes my cat found these lumps and kept on pushing them so that was the cat scan, I guess pet scan too and I really don't remember the whole story just that thst's what I said to the Drs. Lori u'r so cute and u can prolly tell that story better than I can, cuz I told u quiliest so I did little splainin' here before. But my cat was 100% right with both tumors and she knew where they were--I have to say tho now she's going to m stomach sometimes and pushes on it with 1 paw--haha another cat scan and I didn't tell her about all this either.--Lori u are so sweet just like here and it so easy to talk to u--like we've known each other for a long time.

And all u gals I tell u everything even my way of looking at this crazy world and I'm just as crazy--but u don't make me feel that way cuz well u'r all a little off too--that is not an insult when I say that.

Hiya girls! It has been a wild n crazy weekend in Dorkyville. My Mom fell out of her chair and hit her head last night, went to the ER from about 10pm until nearly 4am. Then today, my Dad missed his flight back to South Carolina. talk about a goil who needs to dwink! We are all bothered that my Mom has a boil on her butt and the nurses at the ER said that her rear is not being properly cared for. I am going to have a talk with the nurse tonight about that. The Dr put her back in the restraint. Get this, he ordered it the first week she was there but only for 48 hours. Mom has been trying to get out of her chair almost every time we are there. She told me last night a few times that she was leaving. I was a bit upset that my sisters did not agree that she needed restraints. It is the homes policy to be restraint free but in my mom's case, with her strong will to get up, it is needed. One of the nurse that I really like helped me tie her down with a scarf last week and tuck it under her clothes. THe nurse said she could get fired but saw that Mom wanted to go go go despite being off her feet for three weeks now and not able to stand on her own.

I still have to work tonight, my life is craaaaazy right now. I have thought about taking some time off from work but that will mean not making any commission. I have freaking almost 200 hours of vacation time left and have not even used my four floating holidays or sick time. I am going to think about it. I am a bit scared as there were firing on Friday when I was out of the office. it is not common for people in my position to get fired but the two girls that i knew were not doing their jobs so I do understand.

ok, this is supposed to be a fun lounge so..... can someone pleeeeze pull mese finger?? Camille?

I have not done too much reading, did read about Cam's exploding hiney, hate hate hate that. Saying prayers for her now.  I JUST HATE missing anything here but just do not have the time. I lub lub lub mese goils and am so tankful for all of you and your continued support. I will be dwinking later, hoping somebuddy will joineth mese for a few (hundared) rounds !

CheErS and lottsa love to ye all!

And I do know how it feels when our mom or dad is tiied down it's just seems so wrong, but sometimes so necessary. And u have to be on them for u'r mom having like bdsores. There is no excuse for tht (I think) Did u'r dad end up getting a flight out then? Oh geze so much happening for u guys. I'm so sorry that u have to go thru this--I'm sending prayers for u right now.

Cam, you are right. Craaaazy IS the only way for me. I am wishing that I have off tomorrow but I have to work, it is not a holiday for us. I do think that I need to get back into the routine to keep my mind off of my family issues. I am, no matter what, grateful to have my parents still alive. It is said that children of alzheimer's patients suffer losing their parents not once but twice. I have to agree. Tonight was not bad although my Mom said she was feeling terrible. I did not tell my family that, I just told them that she was relaxed which is true. I asked the nurse to check her for a yeast infection. we are all prone to them and MOm has been on anti b's in battling the UTI.

I jest love you Camille and de rest of you too. I am so grateful for all of my goils!

Oh Dorkie, I sure hope you get a full nights sleep tonight, you surely need it, with all that worry and stress. And NO, you cannot take Pants to bed wid ya tanite....ya needz yer sleep...ok?

Cami, You have such a good, and funny outlook, no matter what you are going thru! I just wish that darn "D" would go away and stay away!!!!

Well, about my perm eyeliner, it has been an ordeal. First it hurt sooo much, then it had to scab over, so it was really itchy and looks weird, cuz I have to put ointment on it too...I think a lot of the black gunk is stuck in my eyelashes but I can't get it out cuz then all the scabby eyeliner would come off too! And that is a NO-NO or it could mess up the liner if you pull it off. Well, some of the scab came off, and I do see a nice, thin, soft, dk brown line. Its funny...the darn ointment gets in my eyes, then I wake up with stuck eyes too....will be glad when its all healed, should be ok in 2-3 days I guess. So thats my gripe for the weekend!

I like bubbly too...enjoyed those bottles of champagne, Lara!

Give Rees a cuddle from me, ok, Cyndie? Puppies are just soooooo sweet (well as long as they are not biting, scratching, chewing, barking, etc......)! Just love them, though!

Lots to comment on, but not lots of time.....gotta go beddiebye and since Dorkie needs to sleep, I will keep Pants company tonight and let him join me in my boudoir....OH look, he heard me, and has shown up with a large ice bucket, and a big bottle of bubbly in it!!! Yippeeeeeee.....wese gonna habs sum fun tanite!!!

Night, night girls! Night night John-Boy-the-Mole-Boy(where is he btw?), Night night Liz da Ho....Night Night Moon!

Good morning, Loungettes!  Boy what a job getting onto the site and onto the right page of this thread this ayem!  I kept getting bounced out to another site, very irritating, but I was more stubborn and out did it and got here!

Cammy--no, my rememberer isn't that good, but my web search ability is still pretty good!  ~~ Some people  do sweat a lot of salt and need ot replace it, especially in the warmer months.  ~Pyridium ( a brand name that is not sold in the US anymore) is phenazopyridine, a drug used to calm bladder spasms in people with bladder infections.  It will turn your pee a very odd orange color, and can stain contact lenses that same orangey color .  We don't know exactly how it works, but it is considered a topical anesthetic that works on the inside of the bladder.  It is very useful for making people more comfortable . ~~ That ER doc was probably mortified when he realized that he asked about something you didn't know about.  We are definitely here for you, on call 24/7!

Goldie--the hot flashes have pretty much gone away.  Every once in a while, like once or twice a week, I have what eels like a hot flash, which is possible since I was premenopausal all through treatment.  I haven't had a period in 6 years, but I have polycystic ovary syndrome and only had 2 or 3  a year before bc, so I can't really go by that.  Hmmm, I need to remember to ask for an FSH next time I get lab work done and figure out where I am in that regard.  ~~Making bagels isn't really very hard if you are used to making bread, it's just a bit more time consuming 'cause of the extra steps of forming the bagels and boiling them before baking.  I had fogotten that they do NOT rise after forming and boiling, so this batch came out skinny.  Hard to cut in half to toast, although I am managing.  I need to make a note on the recipe that when it says it makes 6 bagels, it makes 6, and NO MORE!  ~~I counted the sodium in the foods I was eating for a while.  I don't add salt, grew up with a Mom with high blood pressure, she never put the salt shaker on the table and didn't cook with salt, and still found I was getting more than I needed.  It's amazing how much sodium is in things like A1 and hard cheeses.  ~~Auntie Linda describes Sadie as 4 going on 14.  She definitely has rebellious teenage traits at times!

ORLA--Actually, I haven't got much more snow overnight. The wind, however, is another story.  Gonna need extra time to drive to the office this ayem.

    Adey--me too!  I <3 champagne, too!

Cammy--LOL! THAT"s the way to get a Cat scan!  AND a Pet scan!

    ORLA--YUMMY!!!!!!!

    Juliet--What an eye popper!

DorKable--Your poor Mom!  I hope she gets better quickliest!  In most states facilities cannot use restraints for more than 48 hours by regulation, using then ongoing is a really big problem for them license-wise.  It creates a huge problem when someone is like your mom and trying to get up and go without having the physical ability to do that safely.  There are some things that can be done--wedges in the wheelchair, with the thick end to the front, seat belts with the buckle in front (it's not a restraint if the person can unbuckle it, even if they don't have the mental capacity to do so).  There are also alarms that clip to the person's clothes and connect to an alarm box that hangs on the bed or chair that goes off when someone tries to get up, so staff can get to them before they get all the way up.  ~~I can imagine being frightened about the firings last week.  I don't believe that you can be remotely in the category of not doing your work.  And it must be hard to decide about taking some time off.  And it's OK if you miss something here, we repeat stuff often so you'll ketchup before you know it!

Wahine--you are entitled to a gripe going through all that!  I think I'd be crazy with stuff going on with my eyes like that.  I am so glad the end result is going to be just what you wanted!

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Crazy Monkey Monday

1 oz. Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay Coconut Rum

    1 oz. Vodka

    1/2 oz. Banana Liqueur

    1/2 oz. Blue Curacao

    Pineapple Juice

    Instructions

Cami, we just get each other. Before having cancer, I could never understand how someone would want to die. But after seeing friends suffer, and die, and going through treatments myself……I GET IT. And you are easy to read, after talking to you on the phone. Talking on the phone takes our relationships that much further, and then meeting, well dats jes the BEST! Thanks for sharing your “cat scan”. Made me laff all over again.

WOW, now that is a big picture Lara, and it didn’t mess up the screen either. So that just goes to show that size doesn’t matter…………..LMAO!

Whatcha drinking Julie? And wow girl, you look fantastic!!!!!! WAY TO GO JULIE. Look how skinny girl.

Dort, do they have PT or OT there where your mom is? Maybe that would help? Restraints are NOT nice, but sometimes for the safety of the patent, necessary. I see NM has some good suggestions, if they are available. I remember when I worked in a nursing home, we had trays on the chairs, so kind of like an adult high chair, the tray kept them from being able to get out. Good to see you back in the lounge. I hope your dad was able to catch another flight out. Working to keep your mind off of things, at least temporarily, is a good idea, as you can’t just hang out in AC all the time!

Katwinka can no winka wif all dat goop in her peepers, will be glad when those next few days are behind you and you can see the real results.

Funny dat you got lost dis morning NM. But glad you made it. Good to know that I may be rid of these darned hot flashes come October. I never put the salt shaker out and rarely cook with it. However, some things just don’t cut it without salt, for me that is a baked potato or a sliced mater right out of the garden! Table salt, I think is like 450 mg in just a ¼ tsp.

That Monkey Monday looks REALLY YUMMY! Tanka ewe. We’re suppose to get snow by Wednesday with 30 mile an hour winds. DANG, we just rid of the last snow, now more. But sunny and mid 50’s today and tomarry. I’ll take it.

Good Morning all u beautiful peeps.---I love u all so much and I just realized we have our own personal medical team here, I mean I knew it but it's for real--Wow Nm u splain so so understanding for me I get what u'r saying--u know when I was young (yes u'r going to here this) and get a bladder infection everyone would be like oooo to much sex??? Now it's a whole different reason and I'm constantly getting them with kidney involvement. but I get no one kidding about to much sx any more Hmm times have changed.

Kat I would imagine it takes a little bit of time and specially around the eyes cuz tht's a moist area, I remember my GF's taking time off of work when they did their own tats so it might be puffy or peely for a while, but when it's u'r eyes don't u want to just rub them--I think I would. And how is u'r DH?

And I too hope Dork has gotten a good nights sleep last nite cuz she needs it. NM I for got about the alarm thing on the chair and blocking the foot things that does sound so much kinder--and they did use a seat belt on my Dad cuz he was in a wheelchair the last year, just in case--but his mind wasn't to good but he always remembered he wanted his likker which he got. It's just a sad situation I think cuz we don't like to see our parents helpless, cuz they were so strong and helpful.

And I'm anxious to hear about Lori's DH--she's having quite a time with his BP. It's always something.

    OK I'll be back.
