Trying to drink more water and less snacking.....seems to work this week....but i know that I could jump on the scale in a day or two and those 3 pounds will be back.   :/

Forgot to check in yesterday! Down one pound this week. So now 3/10 done. Also significant - this puts me under 150, at 149.5. So I would like to try not to go back over 150.

    How are you doing ladies?

I haven't weighed myself in months...guess I need to do that...lol...my area of fat is my gut and love handles...

Happy late Birthday Navy Mom...i'm 3 months older than you....I don't feel that 53 is old but for some reason everyone is younger than I am....!  I feel like grandma at work sometimes...and sometimes I feel I look it...it's hard to look good..and young...I just want someone to card me dang it..!

I've been wallowing a bit too...I think I'm tired of winter...havent been able to jog as much as I would like to because of the snow and I think emotionally it is getting to me...i don't want to go back to where I was before diagnosis....

Holding on at 159.  I haven't been below 160 in  a long long time.  So hoping not to go backwards.  In life before BC I always thought my optimal weight was 148.  I felt good and looked good at that wt.  Now I would like to be around 155.  I used to be 5'8"  At 53 years old I think I have lost a bit so now maybe 5'7"  I have been getting to the gym 3 times a week and DH and I have been dancing a little more than usual......Any physical activity is good good good.

Going to a superbowl party today.  My plan is to keep a bottle of water in hand to stay hydrated and full.  I plan on enjoying whatever food is offered.....it is the grazing that will get me in trouble.  Good luck to everyone today trying to keep temptations in control!!

Crap, haven't weighed in in 10 days, and am now 140, up from where I started. After several silent tongue lashings at myself, I am determined to get these extra 10 pounds off. I have 2 weeks until I go on a week's vacation, so need to get down a few pounds before then.

I lost 2 lbs last week.  That was a pleasant surprise this morning when I stepped on the scales.  The eliptical is working.  Just need to push more.

    Well done Pam!

Navy - hope you survived the superbowl party.

Luah - we're pulling for you. A vacation is quite an incentive.

I know 7 lbs. isn't alot..but it will take me awhile..I kinda like eating what I want and rely on exercise to take care of the rest...if I could only cut out the chips and m&m's I have every day I think the lbs. would fall off quickly.

I was bad. Ate half a bag of potato chips today. (Also had a mammogram, so that's my excuse.)

Titan - I set myself a 10lb goal and am down 3. So now I have the same as you!

Hi Ladies !!!  Good to see familiar names, and that you are doing well enough to care about your weight!  haha

I continue to have neuropathy and after a year of hydrocodone, I tried neurontin.  Well, omg, that stuff turns on the Eat switch!  You are compelled to eat, and I mean it!  I had 6 candy bars, cup of ice cream, 30 vanilla wafers, 2 other cookies, and a large handful of M&M's...in addition to breakfast, lunch, dinner.  There may have been some other stuff, but I lost count.  This morning, I was horrified to find wrappers and bowls everywhere!  I am kinda blowing the whistle on myself here...  I WAS taking something similar to it (forgot name...toradol? something with a t) and I was hyper and not hungry at all.  I thought I had oral cancer, and due to the terrible jaw/teeth pain, I lost 7 lbs.  (many tests later, no tumors, yay)

ok, I promise to do better today!

    Hi All,

May I join?  I'm starting chemo on Monday and after my hysterectomy last September, the pounds are hanging on.  I want to walk and stay active during chemo so that I at least get back to 148 eventually.  I weighed in at 166 today and I am 5'2" and usually extremely active.  This cancer has screwed up my horse showing for this year.  Might as well try to get the weight down other ways.

I 99% gave up processed food the day I was diagnosed.  I'm only eating fresh fruits and veggies...no processed and no fast food.  I haven't given up red meat but I am eating less of it.  I did change over to organic meats.  The surgical menopause is working against me along with the stress of worry about this crappy BC.

Today I resisted a chocolate chip cookie and ate a Texas sweet grapefruit.

Shady - of course you can join us. We try to check in on Fridays with any weight loss or gain, but we can post any time and offer support, ask questions etc. Just remember, that if you are going through chemo, you can certainly try and eat healthily, but it is not the time to try to actively lose weight.

I will be checking in tomorrow - and I don't think it will be pretty. DH is away and I'm eating a lot of junk.Frown

Welcome, Shady.  Gilly gave you good advise.  Take it easy on yourself during chemo.  Try to do a little walking when you have the energy to do it.  And drink lots of fluids and eat foods that are juicy.  Like watermelon, grapes and citrus.  And if you haven't already, get on a thread for February chemo starters.  The support will be tremendous.  Good luck on Monday.  You will get through this.

Well...ACK!   161.5 this morning.  I earned it.  DH had a birthday on Monday....Had chicken parm. with pasta and garlic bread.  followed by triple chocolate cake.  And V-day yesterday.  Another pasta dinner with a few glasses of wine and the left over chocolate cake!  I threw away the remaining chunk of it, tho.  But today is a new day and I will do better.

Hi, I'd really like to join now that I'm over the AC part of chemo, will finish taxol on March 11 and anticipating surgery in April

I am 5'7 and weigh 180 pounds. My goal over the next year is to reach 140 pounds of lean mass.

Losing 10 pound through hard work and the support of this thread sounds like a great way to begin.

    Welcome Peggy.

Navy - I, too, have had a bad week. Back to 150 which is plus 1.5. Very disappointed in myself. Once I got under 150, I was determined not to go over agian, and while not over 150, it is right there. So really need to make an effort this week.

I weighed 164 this am.  I think the Dr's scale is higher than mine at home. Wink

I am up to two grapefruits per day (no sugar added).  The Texas sweets are yummy.

Gilly, I'm like you, I swore I would never get above 158...yet here I am.  I'm going to walk home from the office today.  It is a nice walk and not too strenuous.

shady - make sure grapefruit are ok to eat with whatever meds you have. They can sometimes interact with meds.

gilly,  will do.  I'm not on any meds currently except extra strength advil liquigels and a morphine if I have any pain (I'm allergic to codeine).

I'm sure they will give me a whole list on Monday.  I'm supposed to meet with a nutritionist first. I'm actually excited about that.

Welcome, Peggy.  Hoping that the taxol goes quickly.  Keep in mind that your body needs time to heal and recover from surgery, too.  I stongly encourage walking during this time.  It is a gentle way to keep moving and is good for you mentally, too.

I am off to Zumba class this morning.  I did a much better job at food selection yesterday.  Wish I could sleep better.  Damn hot flashes and vivid nightmares.

    Have a good weekend everybody.

Friday check-in  #159 this morning.  Not sure how it happened.  I had Cataract surgery on Wednesday and have been taking it easy.  Got the OK to go to zumba class tomorrow.  But also have a birthday party to attend on Sunday.  I am going to use my superbowl strategy.....Fix a plate to feel full and keep a bottle of water in my hand.  AND stay away from the buffet table after that.

    Have a great weekend everyone.
