Thinking of the gang having tx today. Edi, I think this is the start of your new chemo, really hoping it goes easier for you. Carla.. hope the migraines stay away this time.

Dakota, you've got an awesome smile! Traii, Websister, Bearcub, liefie...did you get those walks in? Temp this morning here is a balmy -34 counting the windchill. I am going to have to hit the treadmill along with you today, cause I am NOT going out voluntarily when it's THAT cold. Should be better tomorrow they say.

    65.....how are you doing?

Nihahi - got the walks in, ran all the errands I needed to run yesterday so I could avoid having to go out today in this extremely cold weather, glad it sounds like you can stay in also.

I will be in lots of pockets today, wishing you all minimal side effects

Liefie - thinking of you, hope you are on soon to post after yesterday's appointment

To everyone else, wishing you a good day

Websister, my children in Calgary are moving to another apartment today - hope they don't freeze! When I was done with the mammo yesterday, I asked the tech if everything was okay, and she said she thinks so. Now I have to hear what the radiologist says, and I hope he tells DH today, he normally does. Perks of a small town. Going in there yesterday I was somehow much calmer than the first time after mastectomy. Maybe because I had to concentrate so hard not to fall over with the heavy pockets?

Nihahi, glad to report that I did an Aguafit class yesterday morning, and an hour later I was in the gym doing strength training which I do twice a week. Today I will miss the Aquafit because I have to go to Nanaimo to see the ob/gyn after I missed my appointment last week. He had a cancellation today, and I got in - yay! On my way back home I will stop by the gym and do a cardio workout. Won't get any exercise in tomorrow, because I'm driving all the way to Victoria to see the PS about reconstruction. Better be good today!

Also jumped on the KALE bandwagon. Made a coleslaw last night with lots of kale and some raisons to cut the bitterness. Was quite nice, actually. Will find kale recipes on the Internet to experiment with.

Not looking forward to the drive this morning. It is very wet and foggy, and there is a mountain pass to negotiate. Will allow myself lots of time, and take it slowly. Have a good day everybody!

    Hiya!

It's the elusive Bevlee... sending love and healing vibes to all.   RE: the link I posted above - my sister posted it on my facebook page, I cry every time I watch it.  It is a girl called Megan Kozlowski (think I spelt surname wrong), made her own music video about chemo.. AWESOME!

RE: deoderants.. I have used a natural salt stick for the last 2 years - ironically, I stopped using the aluminium based ones for fear of breast cancer!  Must try the baking soda too...

RE: terrible things people say about our BC..  A friend (or not) of 30 years who I would have put in my top 5 and I see regularly - well, until the day before DX has avoided me for the 3 months since.  My daughter saw him and told him to go and see me and his reply was.. "I don't cope well with people who are dying!!!"  I cannot believe it!!!  and yes.. he is off my Christmas list.

RE:  what may have caused my BC.. I believe it may have been the Royal Jelly capsules I have taken for the past 23 years.. it is a bee product and very great for you - BUT it elevates estrogen levels.  So, no more of that!  Dam it, I loved that!  and if it wasn't that, my hippy friends believe I haven't nurtured myself enough in the past few years (surrounded by needy men) and could have been happier.  There is a great book by Louise Hay called, 'You Can Heal Your Life'.. it's amazing!

Has anyone heard of vitamin B17 (laetrile) .. some say it is bogus, but many with credentials say it is an amazing preventative and cure for cancer and pain reliever.  Found in apricot kernals.  The doctor who developed 'cyclophosphamide' (one of my chemo drugs) who is a well respected specialist of many years, investigated 'laetrile' and he says that it works better than chemo!  I found this news very frustrating, as I am having chemo - but thought, well, I can include this in my diet afterwards...  The powers that be in the multi million dollar cancer industry discredit anyone who agrees, hmmmmm..    anywayz.. I could go on and describe how it actually works if anyone is interested....?

I know I do not post very often.. I do however read what you ladies are talking about and want to respond, but then my internet connection drops out after about 10 - 15 minutes.  That really sucks cos it takes me at least that long to catch up on what you guys are saying.. Gotta get that fixed.

Hey, how's this for awesome..  my wonderful friends in my local community had a fund raiser and have raised over $500 for me to help pay for petrol to get to rads for 6 weeks (as I have to travel 100km each way)..  I am so overwhelmed by their love and support...  and about 20 of them have shaved their heads!!!  HA! HA!

Well, I better get off of here, it's 2.20am and I gotta screen print 70 t-shirts tomorrow, before chemo Thursday.  Sending lots of love to all of you wonderful warrior women.  Stay strong ladies XXX

Still stupidly cold outside and I'm sitting with an ice pack on my chest???????? Trying to balance things with a mug of hot chocolate Laughing (with marshmallows, of course!).

OMG Bevlee, you can obviously join Dakota in the incredibly energy camp! I'm tired just reading about what you two do! Didn't realize you have to travel so far for treatment. Wish I could help you out with some "limo" runs. Awesome for those friends to help you with gas money. You and Carla obviously have a great group of support people with the head shaving events! Goes to show what special people the 2 of you are.

Liefie, hope the drive today goes ok. You must live on the West coast of the Island? Beautiful country, for sure. Hope your fill tomorrow isn't too tough.

Websister, I hear you. I did as much as possible yesterday too, to minimize having to get out today. I think it's smarter when possible to just stay off the roads when it's this cold. Things get soooooo slippery, and some people just don't drive with their brain turned on.

Traii, hope you chemo goes well today. Thanks for the flannel lined pockets! You seem to always look at the "up side" of things too. I really need to learn some Aussie geography - cause all the weather catastrophes over there have me always worried about you and your family. Did you ever get your appointment for a second opinion about reconstruction? I'm pretty much the same as you re: alternative tx. I guess I just refuse to believe that someone has a miracle cure, that mainstream medicine refuses to acknowledge. My take is go with the "proven stuff" and try to live as healthy as possible. Bevlee....I do believe though that stress can play a factor in stressing your body to the point where any major illness, including cancer becomes more likely.

Edi, you've been quiet - sure hope you're doing ok. Did your bathroom reno's take out your internet????? This thread is most definitely not the same without you.

Today I've done the shoulder exercises x2 so far, heading down to the gym (I live in a condo that has its own little gym) after the alien boob gets frozen enough, think I'll do the bike today.

Take care EVERYONE, I'm going to have to work on cloning myself, as there seem to be lots of pocket reservations!

Traii and Edi hope the chemo goes well, we are all in your pockets....and that's not me pinching!!

Bevlee wow what a great community you live in, and darling friends who shaved their heads to support you.

Nihahi your poor chest, I hope the icing helped. Hopefully come April things will be better.

Liefie fingers crossed for the mammogram results!

    Websister stay warm!

Scottie thanks for the deodorant tip, I will try the b/soda.

Dakota I imagine you have been busy being hockey mom....and your avatar is beautiful.

I have been pretty sick with a cold for the last few days, what really sucks is I don't know what I can take to stop the runny nose, stuffy head feeling. Being on tamoxifen and herceptin makes things a bit more difficult because of interactions. I have been doing sinus rinses and listerine gargles. Gggrrrrr.

I have been back on my stationary bike 5 days a week 30 min. thanks to you all for the motivation....even today with this damn cold I got it done, didn't want to but I did.

We have a snowfall warning expecting about 20 cm. snow. It's not too cold - 14 this afternoon.

Everyone who is having treatment I hope you a SE week!

Back from the ob/gyn, and everything is fine in that department - phew!!! The drive was okay, as it was not raining. Still no word about the mammo.

Every time I come on here I first check if Benny has posted. It's been days now, and I think she would have posted by now if she could. I just hope and pray she is okay.

Websister and Nihahi, stay warm! Yes, I live in Port Alberni. This morning when I drove through town there were 20 white swans floating on the river. They don't honor us with their magical presence every year, so it is pretty special. They are just so graceful and beautiful, and I can watch them for hours. Hope they stay a while before they take off north again. Don't know if PS will fill TE some more tomorrow, but I will take an Advil before the time just in case. Last fill was before chemo and rads back in March.

Bearcub, sorry about the cold, and happy gargling! Good for you to get back on the bike too.

Edi and Traii, let us know how the chemo went. With every one that is done, you get closer to the end of this miserable chapter. Hang in there!

Bevlee, glad to see you here. The alternative route is very tempting, because it is much easier, but after reading a lot about it, I also did the conventional treatments. Don't believe there is a cure out there, and that it is being withheld because big corporations will lose money if it becomes available. Their family also get cancer. Maybe I am a fool, but that is just too hard to fathom.

Tonight we're having lake trout that somebody gave us. I don't like eating it, because it has so many bones. Will ask DH to barbecue it. I think the only way I will like it, is smoked with no bones - lol.

Glad you all found the pockets comfy...lol....i felt the pinch, actually the nurse pocked me 3 times to get a good bloody vein ( excuse the swearing) but one of them felt incompetent from get go and I told her to get someone else (nicely of course) but she just didn't listen !! Apart from waiting 3 hours for my drugs to come up it went nice and smoothly.....cycle 2 out of 3 started. Next wednesday more chemo then break.....ahhh. My onc is SO HAPPY with the way i'm going and can't believe i'm still smiling, chirpy and cheeky...lol (not me cheeky!!)

Lifie, Good news .... fantastic hun LaughingI'm not one for fish with bones...I get my husband to take EVERY bone out of the fish if we have flatheads, they are so yummy, he tells me he's ruining a good fish cleaning it for me and my DS but I tell him I like them looking like Fish chippies....lol....I made flake for my son yesterday (gummy shark) and my DH and I had garlic scallops and prawns on a bed of steamed rice with vegetables on the side....mmmm went down nicely...lol.

Bearcub, sorry to hear you're coming down with a cold....no wonder with the weather we are all getting lately, today is 27 degrees and hot, tomorrow 27 degrees with rain forecasted and for the remainder of the week :(

Weather ok here Nihahi ... you are so cute worrying. the floods are in QLD....Bevlee and I are away from the fire and floods ( go figure, my state is on fire in some parts and up northin in QLD have floods) got to love Australia!!!

I've done 2 lots of my lymphodema excercises....it really does work...i can't believe after doing the excercises the fluid drains out of my hand bit and into the lymphatic system, though it comes back if i do repeatative moves.....so no vacuuming, mopping, typing things like that...( yeh right, things a women just can't live without doing hey !!)

I wanted to see my gorgeous BS today but she wasn't in so i'm going to send her an email with her recommendations. They told me if i go to a different hospital then i will have to pay but if i stay at mine i won't have to pay, so at this stage I'm going to enquire about Plastic Surgeons from her and pricing. My parents and husband have already said that money's no option so long as i'm comfortable with my PS and I get my pirky boobies I'm happy with then go for which ever one I want.......guess I'll wait to see what my BS suggests or recommends....she'll tell me straight out :)

Well off to wake DS up so when my DH comes home we are ready to head off to my parents house for dinner (gotta love not cooking ) !!!

Take care all....Edi, I hope your chemo went ok today, I know its 6am where you are...I'm sure you'll be down to make a cuppa soon before DH gets up......lol

Still no word on benny...well hoping her internet is just down and not her !

Carlads, how you going today hun ?

Bevlee, can't believe your 'so called friend' said that ... how horrible...ummm helllooooo you are probably doing better then him and you're on chemo...! I get that too, 'oh poor thing you're on chemo, look how young you are'!! yeh right, I'm young but I'm still more active than you are with no chemo I say under my breath...gotta love those people that are so draining...I got rid of all the 'draining' people in my life....i lift their spirits more than they lift mine....lol. Even the nurses said to me today ' why are you so cheery, you're having chemo ' my reply' well of course I'm cheery, I may be having chemo, but this is one step closer to the end of the chemo journey' they just looked at me and said ' well if only half the chemo patients had your attitude' !

Well enjoy your day / evening everyone...will be back on later to check out if any updates xxx

Traii....you truly are one of the most positive people I have ever "met". Shows too in what you have overcome. Look out world, Traii is coming!!!!! Sorry to hear about the multiple pokes. Back in my days, the nurses would automatically have another step in, if they couldn't find a vein in 2 tries. Unfortunately, that happened alot with me. But, I really didn't want a port, so had to put up with it.

I am the same with bony fish..hate eating them. My son used to catch trout all the time, and he was so proud of himself that of course we had to eat them. UGH. What the heck is gummy shark?????

Liefie, loved hearing about the swans. We get them very briefly through this area, during spring migration. But they don't stick around long here either. I'm sure if the mammo had issues, they would have gotten back to you by now. Rest easy. Is it too soon for Victoria to start showing spring flowers?

Bearcub, not fair to have to deal with a cold. Sounds like you're doing all the right things, just have to tough it out.(As if you don't have enough practice at that already)!

Traii, Carla, Edi, everybody on chemo this week, hope it goes well with the side effects.

Benny, at some point, I'm sure you'll be reading through all these posts to catch up. Just know that we are all thinking of you and sending you love and hugs.

Hi darling sisters, As"Arni says I,m back "
Been trying to post for days, dam netbook keeps closing down out of the blue. So need a new one.

Traii, baby girl so proud of you, sorry to hear this one was a pincushion job. My first one was fine except for you lot talking about rude things, in loud voices, in my pockets. I was trying not to giggle.
I waited nearly four hours, they had me down to see Doc by mistake.By the time they realised I had been there that long DH was not a happy bunny. Told him next time just drop me off and pick me up, can't cope with the negativity.
Wish Dad happy birthday from me.
Hope you had a great public holiday could just imagine DS's face at all the fun on the beach.
Start tablets this morning, will neck the water thanks.
So far no se's but hoping it stays that way. As nurse gave me flush and anti sickness iv I had the most awful sensation that I had peed myself ! I hadn't thank goodness but she said that can happen and I must tell them to do it more slowly next time. She also said she hadn't had anyone thank her for their treatment  before, honestly manners cost nothing.
Hope you have a lovely day, off to Bingo then GD for tea. Joy oh joy lol x

Nihahi, Hot choccy yum, I have cocoa with no sugar, DH has the choc, so weary last night took them up to bed  put mine on his bedside table by mistake and low and behold he drank mine !!! I can't have his due to sugar, he was nearly wearing it but guess who would have to change the bed ?
I too change dimensions on photos, hope Carla sorts hers soon.
I nuked the peas the other day by the way.
Keep up the walking etc, I am still reving up to it.x

scottiee, Baking soda brilliant underarms, bless you. x

Bearcub, hope that dripping nose getting better.Glad you like the wigs.I love pixie cut too, don't do messing about with hair, even when I have it lol x

Bevlee, LOVE the video, hope everyone else watched it. I had just come home from chemo tired and hungry. Logged on, clicked on it and it really lifted my spirits. As it finished guess what ? The exact same song was playing on my kitchen radio ! What are the chances of that.
Some people and their comments !! Heartless baaaaad. But you wonderful head shave ladies out weigh him by showing their love x

Liefie, hope all going ok with you. Did the kids move go ok ?
Swans are magical. Once saw the most beautiful wedding cake with two swans, necks entwined on the top tier. Asked why and was told that as they pair for life the most apt for that cake.x

Websister, Thanks for pocket visit, know you tried to control them but hey ho.
    Looking at that deod too.
You are so lovely trying to contact Benny. All I pray is that she is in Hospital and safe.
Thank you for asking about my friend, she is out of hospital now and has a new chemo regime starting this afternoon. She had bladder cancer which has now spread to her lungs, bones and liver. Her last three chemo's ,she passed out so they are now trying something else. She is so brave and positive and always says " what will be will be " Please God that will be a cure. x

Carla, hope you are ok ? se's not too bad. x

Dakota you wear me out too. Had two GD's here the other day for a few hours and needed a lie down when they had gone ! Hope you are ok x

Luvmy, Kale a new one on me too. Must look into it. Making slimmers world carrot and coriander soup today for DH. Always think the stuff in a can has funny after taste.x

Hope I haven't missed out to many of you. Love to you all

Liefie congrats on the clear mammogram.

Traii sometimes it takes so long to get our drugs ready once we get to the chemo unit. Like you say though, every chemo you get you are 1 closer to being done!...I am going to google gummy shark, I need to see it, your DH fishes in the ocean, oh my, I am so afraid of great white sharks I don't think I could go so far out on the water in Australia. As a kid we stayed at Bonny Hills in NSW, north of Sydney for 3 months. I remember a wave grabbing me right off my feet and twirling me under the water. At the time it was pretty scary.

Edi glad things went well, I hope things are going okay for your friend, that is a scary DX.

Isn't medicine in This day and age a miracle, I will say a prayer for her.

Bevlee, Carlads and Nihahi, websister, hope things are going well.

Benny, we are thinking of you, take care.

    Have a great day everyone!

Liefie....doing the happy dance for you. Can you feel the car "rockin"! Hope you have a lovely drive down to Victoria. Such a beautiful place, is Vancouver Island. We have been through Port Alberni on our way to Long Beach. Used to camp there years ago, and hubby did the West Coast Trail once. If you do see any flowers, stop and say "hi" to them from me. It'll be months before we have any poking through here.

Edi.....new computer has to go to the top of the shopping list! You were so very much missed. Just love how you cope with so many things with grace and humor, but are ready to "blast away" when appropriate too. Sure wish I had you all 20 years ago!

We seem very tame this week. Here it is mid-week already, and nothing Xrated yet?? Hmmmm what to do about that???Innocent

Trai  sweet dreams and have fun tomorrow, retail rocks.
Our nurses are run off their feet too and the stupid powers that be spend millions on cxxp.
Didn't win at bingo but had a good laugh.
GD sitting here glued to c.beebies and wants bacon and scrambly egg with mayo dip dip. Her word is my command lol. Then one of DH's cheesecakes. She only eats them because she thinks it upsets him xx

Liefie, What WONDERFUL news, chuffed to little mintballs for you !! Enjoy your trip and keep safe,x

nihahi, that  video is fantastic isn'i it ? going to show it to my ED so she can see what chemo wards look like, shame we can't all sing and dance in ours.
I know everyone is ill but honestly a smile can light up someones face, and the staff work so hard that I think they appreciate it too.
Gonna conjour up something naughty just for you. x

Bearcub, thank you for the prayers for B, just hope a miracle happens,
Going to google gummy shark too. Really curious lol.
    Hope you are ok x

Better feed GD before her Mummy collects her.

    Good Morning Ladies,

Took steroids this morning and then again this evening getting ready for tomorrow.  As of tomorrow I will be half way there.  Praying the headache stays away.  Taking the Claritin again, this time a little longer than last time hopefully it will help.

Bevlee, I saw that video on FB I also re-posted it, it was great.  I have also heard of the B17 I don't know too much about, I do think it is really hard to get in the US.

Traii, sorry you had to wait so long!  I feel lucky here so far.  I'll let you know after tomorrow.

Edi, so glad it went well!

Nihahi, getting my walk in everyday, it is a little cold here is Southern California, but we are babies when it comes to cold weather.  It's 36 right now and that is cold for us!

Liefie, Yay!!! I know what a relief that was.

Benny, I sure hope you are ok.

Caitlin we haven't heard from you since surgery, how are you?

Bearcub, Scottie, Websister, Dakota, have a great day..

    Love you all,

Just go through all the posts, I'm sitting in a waiting room with my 17 year old son. Today is the day he gets his wisdom teeth out. Hope he goes in soon, I am feeling ready for a nap and can't do that here.

Liefie - wonderful news, hope you have a great appointment with the breast surgeon also and good trip there and back

Traii - you have inspired me re: supper tonight - shrimp and scallops it is, my husband will be very happy and 17 year old will have to have soup or pudding

Edi - glad the treatment went well yesterday. Good to know that you were aware that I was trying to keep everyone in line in that pocket but the job was too much for me and I finally gave up and gave in ;)

Dakota - I'll take those cooking classes with you

Nihahi - You'll have to tell me where the swans come through, I would love to see that. Hope the shoulder is behaving itself.

I have made myself walk every day each evening since Friday and it does feel good. Weather is slightly warmer here today, Kenny just went into the OR so I have about an hour and a half.

Carla - in your pockets tomorrow, I'll try to do a little better at keeping everyone in line this time

Benny, Bearcub, Bevlee, Lesley, everyone else - hope it is a good day for you. Hugs to all.

Edi - I suggest tht you give the oncologist a call; if it is the methotrexate that is in pill form it can cause nausea and vomiting but a cough can also occur when taking it and should be reported. Sending hugs also

Edi - in looking up CMF online it looks like it is the cyclophosphamide that is usually given by mouth - it also causes nausea and vomiting
