ok, ONE MORE POST THEN I AM GOING TO START FUNCTIONING!!!!!
Edi, you are likely feeling the result of nerves starting to recover/reconnect. Doesn't last forever (usually) if that is what it is. Icing is a great pain relieving technique on just about anything as it numbs the nerves and reduces swelling and problems associated with it.
-
Hi ladies....popped in to say hello....you know I love you all and read and was hoping to here something about Benny????
Scouser .....save your money and use baking soda......you have to put it on when your skin is still a little damp....I used to have some odor issues..lol....I was using strong stuff before BC and it helped but I can't believe this BS eliminates all odour. I buy organic from my health food store.
Will keep popping in, if that's ok with you guys. ❤❤❤ -
Ok nihahi, peas in place, thanks x
Scottie, I am a baking soda convert already. Put it in bath for sore bottom and it is wonderful. Using under arms tomorrow, thanks x
-
Hope it helps Edi. Good luck on your blood work tomorrow. Hope things are drying out in England??
Just back from a long walk, as it is a beautiful sunny day here today. Tuesday.....supposed to be cold and snowy. Gotta take advantage of the good days!
-
Hi girls, after rads you won't need so much deodorant. The hair does not grow there or on my legs; it never came back after chemo. At least I got that perk out of that miserable stage. I also don't really perspire on the rads side. Everything is cooked there, it seems.
Edi, so sorry to hear about the flood damage in your area, but glad to hear about your retail therapy. It always works, doesn't it? Did a little of my own yesterday while waiting for DH's conference to finish - 3 cute tops and a pair of pants. Nothing makes you feel as good as a little shopping now and then.
DH and I went to church this morning, and then to the gym afterwards for an hour. It is probably my guilty conscience, but I walked/ran 2.3 miles on the treadmill, and did 4.4 miles on the bicycle. Face was all red, and huffing and puffing. Rest of the day going to be lazy with friends coming over later. Will feed them pea soup and toasted sandwiches with ham, apple slices and Brie cheese. Who knew peas were so versatile? I stuck my toes into them during chemo - lol.
-
Edi - I had my surgery in Feb last year and spent most of my time off with my hand cold as it was in my shirt on my surg. sites. I agree with Nihahi that is most likely nerve regeneration. Unfortunately nerves grow verrryyyy slowly so you can expect to have more pains though not consistent. I have them and have pain above boob where radiation line went to. I think some of mine is not wearing a bra at home now after months of all day 5 days/week. I had to go back to some of your original posts to find your August surgery date. Good luck on bloodwork tomorrow and new chemo.
We'll take your rains here. 73 degrees outside, humid and feels like April. And due for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday though they may be more east of us. Sounds like tornado threat may come early this year. Long range forecast through mid Feb. shows no real cold weather. The Fort Worth Stock Show is going on now, started last weekend for about 3-4 weeks. Traditionally have at least one icy period during it. "Stock Show weather" is famous around here. February is usually our worst month, go figure. Wind howling and would be worried about fire danger if it wasn't so humid.
Wish someone had heard from Benny. Wonder if Websister has tried her.
Dakota - Love your sweet Avatar. Not DH - tell him you know guys get BC too. Whatcha think about that buddy boy??? I believe in Karma too, though not sure how that jives with my Christian beliefs. He'll get his one of these days.
Nihahi - Moose licks! Do they ever climb on cars? Took DD when she was about 4 to wildlife park. Something molested our car slobbered all over the bumper, can't remember what it was. Zebra?? Scared the c**p out of her. I've seen bears in Yellowstone as a child but nothing like a moose besides nearly skiing into it. Those were black bears hunting thru the trash; park ranger shooed them off. I bought the bag of peas but never used it. LOL
Carla - good to hear from you again. Nice snuggling on a rainy day.
Liefie - Good for you on the 2nd haircut. I like Pixie cuts personally. Easy to maintain.
Traii - Guess we'll hear from you shortly.
Car getting new tires on Tuesday, DH taking care of it. Great except for the expense. I have BS appt on Wednesday 10 am, kinda takes out much shopping by the time I finish there. Don't expect to go back to the "big city" again until the end of Feb. That is unless I traipse over to see DD on the other side of Fort Worth on a Saturday. If she's not otherwise occupied!!
Not too productive here either. Went to Sunday School, worship service, grocery (I know bad on a Sunday but did't get out yesterday). Load of laundry on (DH's work shirts). Making knock off Olive Garden soup for dinner to use up the kale I bought. I buy this stuff and let it go to waste and just can't keep doing that. Last night's dinner was all from the freezer and pleased that I used some stuff up. Everyone enjoy their Sundays or Traii and Bevlee must be almost Monday (??).
-
nihahi, was sunny here too most of day. Most of area snow free but some areas near rivers flooding still from the thaw.
Pain easing too.
Hope not too cold and snowy for you in a few days time. xLuvmy, As ye sow so shall ye reap. Galatians chapter 6 verse 7. Karma in a nutshell. As you say men get bc too how ironic would that be ?
Never thought of things still healing, just being silly, have been so lucky re lack of pain it came as a bit of a shock when it felt like someone stabbed me a few times. subsiding now
While I am typing this DH's mob bleeps, txt I sent 8 hrs ago to tell him I was ok and still shopping just came through . Good job i wasn't in trouble lol.
Dinner had a bit of a change as long phone call re my poor friend being rushed into hospital for a transfusion after collapsing in town put things back.
Grilled the pork steaks with garlic salt, jacket potatoes done in micro, grilled tomatoes and PEAS. all done in 20 mins and it was even nicer than what I had planned.
Hope your weather doesn't get too bad either.liefie, retail therapy is wonderful, men can never get that can they ? Glad there are some extra results from what they are doing to us ie not perspiring will look out for that.
You made me weary reading what you had done today phew.need to lie down now lol.
Peas definitely rock.

Good morning girls...monday morning here...public holiday

Went to geelong yesterday down at the beach they had a festival on...my ds was in his element....he saw a helicopter land in water and 5 fighter gets doing a show. ..it was fabulous. Had lunch on beach went on some rides then headed home for a bbq at my parents...ahh off for retail therapy today blood work and work tomorrow then chemo weds

Edi love your shopping story! Glad weather bit better for you.
Ive never had to wear deoderant since i was 18 but still did to smell refreshed after shower....lol they told me with rads starchy stuff so i had a powder....it did its trick but wasnt a nice smell...nothing beats refreshing deoderant smell!! But it did its job. After rads no hair and i mean no hair grew 16yrs later and no hair.....rads did its job on buzzing hair there for life pity it didnt for bc:( oh well another thing to deal with but im getting by!
Nihahi tennis finished now! Hope u find something else on tv to get u through the night...lol
Ok luvmy question...whats kale??
Love to all you gorgeous girls xxx
Hope bennys just having internet probs again would be nice she pops in to say shes good. -
Hi everyone
So much activity it will not be possible to comment on all
Dakota - bet that hurt - sending hugs
Ieifie - pressure's on now, I promise I'll get on the treadmill this evening and do my walking
Edi - I was at a session put on here about chemical free products and was given this deodorant made locally as a free sample, although it is the regular size. Seems to work for odor control and lasts a long time -
http://m.routinecream.com/
I hope your friend is OK?
Carlads - like Traii said, Taxotere effects cumulative and side effects can be different each time. Like her, my nails are looking pretty bad right now but they don't hurt
Heartland is on TV right now which made me think of Benny again, I hope she is at home watching it. I have emailed and texted her, I have not had a response yet but will keep trying.
To all having bloodwork - hope you have good results, Liefie - in your pockets tomorrow -
Traii.....currently watching the recorded Men's Final. Now starting to worry about who will be entertaining me during my "defrosting" sessions in the wee hours of the morning!!!! Melbourne looked beautiful on the telecasts. What a special part of the world you live in! Hope you enjoyed your 4 day break from work.
Kale.....very dark green leafy veg. Can be a bit bitter I think, but maybe I don't cook it right. Supposed to be uber healthy for you.
Luvmy....Moose are pretty hefty animals, so I don't think they'd climb right up on a car, but I have seen one crunch a car pretty good on the hood with its front hooves. Serves the idiot driver right for driving right up to it then blasting on his horn to make it move. Noooooobody tells a moose when to move in my opinion!
Edi, I'm almost afraid to ask how you cooked the peas for dinner
!Ok ladies, this will be the week we get back on the fitness wagon....anybody want to join me? Doesn't have to be a marathon training workout, just 30 minutes minimum of something we each can manage at the stage we're each at????????
-
Nihahi, I'm with you on the fitness. Will be in the pool bright and early tomorrow morning, and will exercise every day this week. No more excuses.
Websister, thanks for the good wishes. I hope the flushes are getting better for you? For a while I was okay as far as that, but the last few days have been worse again. Fortunately I don't get them at night for some strange reason, so I do sleep well which helps a lot. I am the wicked witch from the west if I don't get enough sleep. When I have a flush coming on, my skin starts to prick all over, and my face goes bright red. Happened in church this morning. I had to take off my jacket and scarf, and fan myself with the bulletin to cool down. The fun we have!
I think Benny is in hospital, and not able to communicate with us. Poor girl really has a very bad time with the chemo. I hope and pray that she's okay, and that we'll hear from her soon.
Have a good night or a good day for that matter, everybody!
-
Sounds good liefie. Come on ladies, there's all kinds of fitness....could be 30 minutes of yoga, or positive thoughts, or listing 30 things that make us grateful, cleaning out a junk drawer, or treadmill......
-
Sounds good Liefie, anybody else on board with us?
-
I'm there with you Nihahi and Liefie - did my treadmill for 45 minutes this evening, plan on at least 30 minutes a day this week and hope to increase the intensity of the exercise as I go.
-
Hi everyone,
I go away for a bit and so much goes on, you are all so chatty.
I am sick with a nasty cold, my nose is running like a faucet. I can't really take cold meds because of the tamoxifen and herceptin. Drinking lots of fluids. Blah!
Nihahi those pics are so good, I would have been scared to death coming around a corner and almost into the side of that.
Scottie how do you use Baking soda for deodorant, just dust it on?
Liefie I bet you look great with the new clothes and haircut. First place my hair came back was my legs, go figure!!
I am going to grow my own Kale this year. I actually didn't mind it chopped and put into my salads, I just scrunch the leaves a bit so they become tender. (Traii, they are like a tough lettuce or greens).
Edi I bet you had a blast shopping, and you look great in your pictures. Love the wigs.
Websister, hope you are recovered from the herceptin, because I still have the herceptin it doesn't feel like I can celebrate my finishing surgery, chemo and rads...not really done I guess.
Carlads I hope you are feeling well.
Benny I am praying you just are busy with friends and not in hospital, take care!
Luvmygoats, I am looking forward to having hair long enough for a pixie cut, I have always had long hair, but I may like it short.
Bevlee, hope you are less frantic this week.
Everyone facing whatever they face this week I hope it is smooth sailing! -
Thanks for the description of Kale ladies...so its a leafy green healthy thing...!
I'm going to start eating more green vegetables this week, I've been lacking them during summer time and not eating as much salad as I should..... so this week for me, hubby and I have agreed on walking even if it is for 30 mins to the lake and back or around the park infront of my house a few times..... I walked the other day with my DS to the convenience store which is about 15mins away, he was in his pram and i got shin splints, ouch, maybe it was because I was walking a little up hill at times....( I should be use to walking as I do that excercise, ummm its called 'retail therapy' and my legs are quite content then ) !!!

Enjoy your day everyone....my monday is about to end after having my parents over for dinner a lovely dinner tonight xx
-
Hi everybody.....I have to,pop into the shower and get ready for work, but just wanted to answer Bearcub's question. I put it on after my shower. Your skin has to be a little moist
To do this. I just put a little in the palm of my hand and then spread it under my arms.
The trick is to have your underarms a little moist so it can adhere. Amazing stuff..
I have never had any odour problems since using it. -
Hi ladies -
Count me in on the exercise. I have a treadmill. Going to shoot for 3 times this week.
Ok so we have retail therapy covered, kale, and exercise covered for topics this week... Lol
Hope u all had a great weekend!!
I need a nap. Have to get to bed early tonight!!!
Enjoy!!! Hugs;) -
Morning Ladies - sunny day here, hope the same for all of you.
Traii..just saw the weirdest thing on the news. A town somewhere in Aus, has been covered in "sea foam", blown in from the ocean because of strong winds. Strangest thing I've ever seen, apparently not that unusual for them!
Hope everyone having tx this week does well through it, and counts it as another victory in the fight! For you guys still in active tx, I think 30 minutes of really positive thinking will be more powerful than anything those of us farther along the road could ever do on a treadmill, gym, pool, whatever. You are all amazing!
Carla, Edi..I had lots of frustration learning to post photos. I found I had to adjust the dimensions, then everything worked. In the little menu that comes up so you can paste the image details, there is a line labeled "dimensions". It comes up with numbers already entered, but I change them to 600 x 400. That seemed to do the trick for me. Maybe it will work for you too.
Off to do my shoulder stretches, have a really, really , really good day. (X) to all.
-
Forgot to ask.....anyone have a good kale recipe? When it's this cold, we just don't eat that many cold salads, so can't see hubby diving into a bowl of cold kale. It's supposed to get really cold the next few days....maybe something like kale in a soup?
-
Nihahi - That's the 1st kale I've ever had, at least that I'm aware of. Ripped the wavy leafy ends off and slightly down the veins/stems and put it in the soup. It was off of Food.com called "Olive Garden Copycat Zuppa Tosca". DH had 2 bowls of it and have leftovers for tonight. I was very pleased with it. Used Italian sausage out of the casings and chopped up bacon. Wilted onions/garlic in the drippings. I did have to add some chicken bouillon as the flavor needed boosting even with the boxed chicken stock I used. I bookmarked other kale recipes to use it up but can't vouch for them. I tasted it b4 I put it in; it was OK as an additive to soup. Don't know I would want a bowlful even though I get the boxed/bagged salad mixes with the bitter greens. I'm not much of an iceberg lettuce girl. Know that I'm not working makes me want my garden back but DH graveled over it when I quit using it. At the rate Texas weather is going we'll have summer next week anyway. LOL. Spring comes Tuesday with severe storms so can summer be far behind. Oh yes and fire warnings for tomorrow. Yippe, storms and fire danger.
-
Luvmy....the soup sounds delish, but probably higher in fat/salt than I would choose. I LOVE bacon (makes everything better) but we are trying to cut back on salt and fat. I'll keep looking for recipes. Don't actually have kale in the house yet, so I've got time.
Have done my shoulder exercises x1 (need to do them x2 more today), and have just gotten back from a long walk. My semi-accurate pedometer measured the walk to be just under 5 km, and took me 50 minutes! Woo Hoo!
Hope everyone is doing good today. Benny, Benny, where are you?????????
-
Nihahi, Queensland is having severe floods at the moment, I saw that on the tv too re the foam, crazy!
luvmy, sounds like your weather is a little like Melbourne's weather here .... all seasons in one day, lol....today is 20 degrees.... windy, rain and fire up on the other side of town ..... it's a little crazy if you ask me...lol
Hope you all enjoy your night.....I'm at work today, bloods done ready for tomorrrow, fingers crossed they are all good.
Edi, thinking of you ...well I know it's your 11pm there, chemo for you first CMF .... good luck girl, hope it all runs smoothly and on time

Lifie, how did you go ? hope you are good.
Dakota, hope you had a good sleep hun x
Websister, I think you've tried lots of avenues to hunt down Benny...hope she is fine. Hope you are good hun and relaxing....how's mum doing ?
To all, take care.... I'm at work just thought I'd pop in to say hiya! xxx
-
Quick pop in again wondering about Benny?????
Kale😝......however, what I do is cut it up and take off the stems, rub some olive oil in my hands and then coat the kale...I also add some spices like a little turmeric and/or curry.
You needs VERY little salt, trust me on this one then put in the oven for 20 minutes
at 350.....now you have kale chips....it's about the only way I can eat them. -
Crazy weather going on. Traii, Luvmy, Edi, everybody stay safe OK!
Traii.....how is your lymphadema doing? Hope you're making great progress with it.
Scottie, that kale idea I might try, but do you have any suggestions other than tumeric or curry? Considered to be yucky in our house.
Websister, you have tried to reach Benny, now it will be when she is ready to get back in touch. Kind of like Bevlee.
Stirfry for supper tonight, yum, yum. Have a good evening everybody. Easy chemo for everyone this week OK!?
-
Nihahi....how about a little cumin or cayenne pepper???? You don't really need to add spices....they are pretty good with just a sprinkle of salt.
-
Maybe.....your "endorsement" doesn't really make me want to rush out and buy some. But we do love spinach.....is it a similar taste?
-
Nihahi - I've used Chinese five spice powder in some things or use garlic salt for the salt in it. Or maybe go Mexican with something slightly spicy or BBQ flavoring? I bought kale because its supposed to the the "vegie du jour" these days with almost mythical properties. DH will eat most vegies, loves brussel sprouts which I can just barely stand.
I have 2 stems of the kale left. May try the chips or use it some other way. Staying fresh in hydrator. Unfortunately I found a stem on the counter this am I had not used. My goats usually get leftover raw vegies but kale is the wrong type of vegie for them. They just had 3 very dead bananas, stems and all. I'm just too lazy to freeze them for banana bread. ABC news tonight did a story on the amount of food a family wastes. I suppose I don't consider it waste if they eat it at least. Sometimes I go to the day old bread and buy them "dollar bags" (sounds like a bad drug deal LOL) of ripped bags etc. Wish it were not so out of my way when I go to town.
Spinach is milder but I didn't find it had that weird mouth feel spinach has. The bite I had raw was OK, bitter, tolerable but like bitter greens in the packaged spring mix we get. I think mine was about $1.89 so not so much money wasted if I didn't like it so much. I have bought it b4 and just let it go bad in refrigerator.
-
Hi ladies,
I also have a treadmill that has been being used.......for a clothes hanger, lol.
I started using it again today. I used to use it M-F and walked (no running for me...balance is not good on it) 3 miles and worked up to 5 right before I was diagnosed.
I've been doing spring cleaning (yikes, 65 degrees here today and 75 tomorrow)early so I have been getting some exercise. Our 4 grandchildren were here last Sunday and we spent the day playing outside then too. But I really need to get in a routine of using the treadmill again.
I've also been watching what I eat especially portion sizes. I love veggies and like most except beets, spinach, radishes and maybe a few more. Never tried Kale but the chips sound like something I'd like to try. My DH loves almost all foods so that's not an issue.
Have a great week everyone and gentle hugs,
LaDonna
