Tenaj, I had a great toe bunionectomy and a tailor's bunionectomy (the little toe). So I have two incisions on the same foot, one on each side. Still hurts a lot, but a little less each week. I just can't wait to start walking again.
-
Rocket, It takes time to heal from that. Soon you'll be walking & enjoying those lovely walks again with your pups. Before you know it the warmer weather will be here. Hang in there. Make sure you eat enough protein, it's very important for the healing process.
-
Good advice Tenaj! I don't get enough protein. Thanks for reminding me of that.
-
Just checking in. I hope you wonderful ladies are well.
I took a few days off the treadmill, I think I may have been over doing it. I increased the incline too much & was running. I started to get some ankle pain so thought it would be best to take a few days off. Will try tomorrow & take it a bit easier.
I bought some sweet peppers(small red, yellow & orange ones) from Costco . Quite crunchy & sweet, a delicious snack. Finding a satisfying snack is so challenging!!
I haven't lost any more :-(.......went to a family party over the weekend & ate pizza :-) yummy but the salt bumped me up a bit, so.....here comes the water again!!!
How are you feeling CookieMonster? Are you happy with the results?
Rocket, how's the foot healing?
Kindergarten, hope your feeling well & enjoying your sweet Lily. And of course the rest of
your loved ones.
Hi ATeamNana....hope the neuropathy has calmed down.
Have a wonderful evening -
Hi Ladies,
Tenaj thanks for asking about the foot. It is healing, but slower than I want. I'm terribly impatient. I see the foot surgeon tomorrow and hope by next week he'll let me put some weigh on it while wearing the fracture boot.
We are headed to eastern NC for my appointment and to see our granddaughter, Erin. I just learned that she is sick again with a fever. Last time I was with her I caught the stomach virus from her. I hope she gets better quickly. I NEED to hold that baby!
Hope you are all doing well. Have a lovely day! -
Hi, Tenaj!!! The produce at Costco is always good. Their blueberries are the sweetest I have ever tasted!! You have to buy alot!!! I will definitely try the sweet peppers! I had pizza and burritos this weekend, but no weight gain, thank goodness!!! We walked alot!!!I am drinking more water, thanks Tenaj!!! Rocket, hope your sweet Erin feels better and that you all have a great birthday celebration, hate when little ones get sick!!! Have a safe trip!!!! CookieMonster, hope you are recovering quickly!!!! ATeamNana, hope you are doing well!!!! Hugs, Kathy

Hi ladies - I'm pretty much back up to full speed. I'm working hard, as usual, but can't seem to stay focused on what I'm eating. I get the munchies and have to have a cookie or something. I'm still doing OK, but not great.
Hope you get to visit and hold that grandbaby, Rocket!
Hi tenaj, Kindergarten, atemnana, and everyone else.
Keep walking everyone - I did put in over 12000 steps today, at least.
-
Hi, CookieMonster!!! So good to hear from you!! Hey, don' t worry too much about your diet, heal and rest! Wow, 12,000 steps, you are amazing! if you can do this, just after surgery, then I am getting my keester out this morning and try to do the same!! Thanks for the motivation!!!! Have a great day, everyone!!!!!
-
Hi Rocket, I hope your granddaughter is feeling better & you will get to spend some time with her. That is the best medicine. You'll be weight bearing before you know it. Hang in there :-)!
Hi CookieMonster, glad to hear your up & about & feeling so well. I know what you mean about the munchies!!!! I'm having them every night. I just came home from my pre surgical testing & stopped by a Whole Foods store. (My DD keeps encouraging me to go there, it's not very close though) anyway.....I tried some Raw Kale for the first time. I bought one that is sweet (mango, coconut & banana flavor) & a plain one. I can't believe how delicious it is. I'm going to have to try it cooked now. I've been switching & buying mostly organic now, but this store had everything!! So tonight when I have the munchies I'm going to have some sweet kale....:-)
Hi kindergarten, hope your enjoying your day!! It's very cold here now, high of 18 degrees....going to stay in the next few days & do some healthy cooking to prepare for next week.
Hi ATeamNana! -
That's awesome progress Cookie! You are truly a motivational force to br reckoned with! My foot surgeon appointment went well today. He said I can walk on it a little bit next week in the fracture boot! I can hardly wait! I also have to start PT next week and then more pool therapy. I was encouraged after my appointment.
Today is Erin's first birthday and we are going over to visit with her this evening so my son and DIL can get the house cleaned for her party on Saturday. I can hardly wait to hold her again!
Overall it's been a great day thus far. Hope you all are doing well! -
Hi, Ladies!! Happy Birthday, Erin, tomorrow!!! Rocket, enjoy your day with her!!!Tenaj, hope you have a great weekend!!! Have you heard that whole grains are bad and that they cause belly fat, saw it on a you tube commercial!!! Yikes!! Do you all think that this is true!! Have a great weekend everyone!! I am headed for a Church women's retreat this weekend!!!! Will be thinking of all of you!!!! Kathy
-
Hi Kathy, enjoy your retreat. Enjoy the company & prayers with the ladies.
I'll be working this weekend & then off for a few weeks to recouperate. Looking forward to finishing ths step.
I'm going to have to research about the whole grains. I've finally switched & not been complaining about it. That would be a kick in the butt!! -
Dear Tenaj, I will definitely lift you up in prayer at the retreat . I am sure you are so anxious to get this last step done. You are so deserving of rest and healing. Hugs, Kathy
-
I did get to visit my lovely granddaughter, but they had to cancel her first birthday party due to my DIL becoming ill with the flu. We also had to leave early because of bad weather. I was really disappointed. I wanted to spend a couple of more days with her. We will return in mid February and I'll get to hold her and love on her again.
Hope you all are doing well. Have a lovely Saturday and stay well! -
Good Morning Ladies, Rocket sorry to hear your visit got cut short. I hope everyone is feeling better.
Kathy, I have you had a blessed weekend!!
Well...I was 0.2 lbs short of my goal yesterday for pre surgery weight loss. Then my DH decided we should have fun yesterday & we took a ride out East to our very favorite Bakery & had my favorite fried stuffed jelly roll croissant that is rolled in sugar!!! Yup you guessed it...I was up a bit on the scale this morning. Oh well.....it was delicous & took my mind off of the surgery. I am preparing today by doing all sorts of extra laundry to make sure everything is spic & span
I was given special soap to wash tonight & in the morning. Doing all I can so I don't get cellulitis again. Last year with my exchange I wasn't given any special soap...funny how they change things in such a short time.
Have a great day!!
-
Praying for you Tenaj! I'll pray specifically for protection from cellulitis too.
I'm home alone today for the first time with my two goldendoodles. DH had to go into work today and won't be home until 8 pm as he teaches an evening class. I'm just hoping I don't get hurt. I tend to be accident prone, so I am being extra careful and calculating in my movements. I'm trying to get some laundry done today. I'm very tired of sitting on my behind with my foot up. I either use my fracture boot or ride on my scooter. It's less dangerous for me to wear the boot as it protects my foot. I can finally put a little weight on my foot in the boot, but it swells up quickly and then the pain cycle gets going again. I'm going to PT on Wednesday, so hopefully they can help me.
Hope you all are having a great day! -
Thanks Rocket, we all need prayers. Make sure you pace yourself & don't over do!! After you're up & about for a bit, make sure you get in a position to elevate your foot above the level of your heart so you decrease the swelling. You should do that several times during the day, also watch your salt intake as that never helps!! Enjoy those pups
I believe my dog give me what I call healing molecules!! LOL
-
Good advice Tenaj, especially about the salt. I had some popcorn one evening and my foot really swelled. I have been watching it. I'm trying to behave.
-
Dear Tenaj!!! Hope everything goes perfectly with your surgery and no cellulitis!!!! Prayers are coming your way!!!! Our church women's retreat was so wonderful!!! Formed many new friends, And I truly feel spiritually renewed.
Rocket, please stay safe, you are a treasure, so continue healing and enjoy those pups.
Joined Weight Watchers today! Yikes, here I go again!!!! I love that exercise gives you more points. Love all you ladies!!!!! -
Hi Ladies,
I have a diet question. I am eating mostly fruit and veggies, but I'm not a big meat or egg eater, and I detest fish or seafood, except tuna. How can I get enough protein to be healthy? Is plant based protein okay if you have ER+ BC? I have used Beneprotein which is whey protein when I was going through rads along with drinking Instant Breakfast. I rarely could eat 30 grams of protein daily however. I do eat Chobani yogurt usually once a day. I don't eat much else for dairy except a small glass of skim milk or a slice of cheese. I take a calcium supplement as I have osteopenia. I also eat beans, kale, spinach, broccoli, etc. but still can't get the protein up high enough. Would you share with me what you eat to do that?
My foot is doing a little better. Yesterday I walked in the fracture boot around the house. Today my DH will take me to the grocery store and I will walk a bit then. I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night due to knee pain and foot pain. I have debated going to an orthopedic doctor for the knees, but I just don't want any more procedures or surgeries. I really am at my limit. I want to exercise, but have to wait until my foot is healed and I can get onto and off the floor to do Pilates. Supposedly in a couple of weeks I should be able to progress to a sneaker, but I can't see it happening right now. My foot is still too swollen.
I awoke at 3:53 am and thought I was having a heart attack. My chest burned with esophageal pain which hurt into my right collarbone and back. I debated waking my DH, but then I thought, "Well if the Lord takes me, it's okay, I'm ready". (I'm just not ready to die from BC.) I was too tired to even get out of bed or wake up my hubby. I fell back to sleep and when I awoke at 6 am, the symptoms were gone. I feel fine now. I think it was indigestion, but it did have me worried. Ever since I had chemo, I have had terrible heartburn. I never used to suffer with it. I take Omeprazole every night, but still get heartburn every few days. Do any of you experience that? -
Dear Rocket!! I am not sure how you
should fulfill your protein needs. Hopefully someone will come along to help with. I know weight Watchers likes you to have at least 3 oz of lean meat or fish with each meal. Are you a complete vegetarian, I go to a meeting on Friday and I will ask your questions. -
Hi Kathy,
No I am not a vegetarian or vegan, but just don't love eating meat. I don't eat soy either because of the ER+. I think I will order some more Beneprotein. At least I can mix that into my yogurt and it has only 25 calories. I appreciate you asking my questions. Thanks! -
Oh, sure, Rocket!! I found that I am really carb sensitive, so if I increase my protein and eliminate bad carbs, I can lose weight. I have had success with Weight Watchers before, so here we go again. I love chicken and fish!! On Friday, I will ask the leader(she is a breast cancer survivor as well), about the many different sources of protein!! Have a super day!!! Kathy
-
I'm home & doing OK. My DH is at CVS picking up my pain meds & antibiotics & best of all some ice cream....hopefully I won't go too far backwards, but I am going to splurge a bit for a few days.
-
Rocket, quinoa is very high in protein. As is yogurt, I've been eating a no fat organic yogurt blenderized( I have a nice hand held one) with a tiny squirt of agave & all different types of fruit, bananas, jarred peaches from Costco, blueberries, strawberries.....
Of course all types of beans, except soy, if you like them. I love chicken & make that all rots of ways.....I'll be growing feathers soon. Lol
I also et these protein bars from GNC that a very delicious. supreme peanut butter & jelly -
Glad to hear you are doing well Tenaj. I will be praying for a quick recovery.
I had beans with quinoa tonight for dinner. I also eat Greek yogurt and tons of fruit. -
Hi, Tenaj!!! So glad that you are home and healing!!! Please enjoy that ice cream, you deserve it!!!! Hugs, Kathy
-
Rocket - I don't know how much protein, especially compared to the amount of fat, but what about nuts? Don't they have a fair amount of protein?
tenaj - good to hear from you. Give yourself a bit of time to heal up and not worry about everything that you eat, then in a few days you can get back to it.
-
Hi, CookieMonster!!! How are you feeling?? Are you feeling back to normal after your surgery??? Are you refing any soccer in the spring in the South Bay Area? Let me know!! I am enjoying Weight watchers so far!!! I do not feel deprived and I like the fact that exercise lets you increase the points, and fruits and veggies are free!!!! Tenaj, hope you are feeling better!!! Rocket, how is your foot? ATeamNana, miss you! Hugs to all, Kathy
