I don't like the last one actually.. I come here for hope and it darkened my day.. Reality or not,... I like all the positive stories here... Like to think recurrences are fewer than more in survivors lives.

I liked all of them.  I am really trying to get to the point where I don't worry about a reoccurance (early days yet, I know)  I've always been kind of a fatalist, what's going to happen may well happen no matter what I do so why be miserable before you have to?  And yet, I believe that we do have some ability to change the odds, eat better, exercise, rest may all help your body beat those sneaky cancer cells, and even if they don't, they will make you feel better in the short term, so it's a win/win.

But none of that changes the fact that no one knows where we'll be next year, or in ten years.

True true we can eat right exercise and be overall healthier to lessen those chances of recurrence.. But true know one knows what tomorrow will bring.. Might as well not live I near and be positive....

Sue, thanks for the links.  I just came across "Two Years" and sent it to my hubby.  He said her hair looked like mine at our wedding (we got married during treatment too).   I can't imagine how young his fiance must have been at diagnosis-- he is only 28 now.

I saw "Lanes" when it came out, long before my diagnosis, and it really changed my understanding of the reality of cancer treatment.  I'm tempted to send it to everyone who keeps asking "how is the treatment working?" as though there's some Yes/No answer to whether it worked.

I posted something great the other day but dont see it here. Huh. Well I guess I will redo the gist.

Hopefully you two exchange girls are doing well and more comfy with softees. The bigger my TEs get the more hard and uncomfortable they feel. But I am determined to go porn star...so...
(Im not very big, so I doubt I'll get porn star big...but a girl can hope, right?)

My hives were better for a few days then came back. So I saw an allergist. Im on several antihistamines. My chemo was yesterday so the steroids and those meds kinda throw a wrench in the allergists normal plan but hes rolling with it and amending things to fit me. Possibilities of such a long reaction could have been caused by the Zithromax or my MO thinks it could be Neulasta. So this round I am going without. They will watch my WBC and give me Lukine instead if I need it. In 2 weeks the allergist will do allergy drug testing on those meds in question so we will know for sure. Hives are miserable. I cant deal with it.

My 5 year old has chicken pox.  My 4 year old is just getting over a double ear infection. He had tubes placed in May that have recently fallen out (a bit on the early side). So this infection was complete with drainage, that dried and clogged up the ear preventing drops from getting down in there and parcipitated a trip to the ENT to have it suctioned out. Looking at another set of tubes after the first of the year likely. Especially going into the wither season and we are already getting started with htis infection crap.
There's really never a dull moment at our house. As if cancer is not enough.

Ladies... I am far from caught up here and I'm all drugged up and in need of a nap... But I either got over zealous in my make lemons out of lemonaide attitude, or these boobs of my are swollen and are go to settle down and in (I hope). Holy BOOBS!! I was always a small b/big a. Look at me now! A D cup!

    Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Mind you I had a nipple sparing mx on the right side so I have my nipple and incision is from right side of nipple towards underarm on right.

Left side incision is under breast flap like a regular augmentation.

A friend of mine had already sent me the 2 year- biopsy-versary comic and while it did make me cry I liked it. The other two I only glanced at and then quickly moved on. They are good comics but I do find myself protecting myself from overdose on those types of things. I don't watch movies or TV shows with cancer patients in them. It's just too much while in treatment. For people who are not in treatment and you want them to maybe understand a little our stress and our fears, those comic strips could be very educating.

Allurbadday, I personally find them totally insensitive....you and I are stage 1 ....what about stage 1V ladies truly battling for their lives.....If people want to be educated about BC...they can come on here where they will find people who are extremely knowledgeable on the subject, or speak with their doctors. Sorry, just don't see the humour in these.

I know it is late in the year, but I really would like to join this group. I had a lumoectomy in October and have been WAITING for the next step in treatment. My MO ordered the Oncotype test 0n 11/9, however the %^&*( hospital path department did not ship the sample until 11/21. So here I wait and wait. I really needed to be doing something by now. My next appointment is 12/5, and maybe I will find out if I need chemo. When I finally know something, I hope to find comfort from my fellow 2012 sisters here. I am 59 yo, live in Athens, Ga. I have 2 dachshunds, a long haired Oskar, and a short hair Heidi. My one daughter is grown and lives in Charleston, SC. My favorite color is purple and I love to vacation on the Oregon Coast. I do hope I can make it out there again this summer. So I am keeping my fingers crossed for a low oncotype score as my Christmas gift. But if it is not, bring on the chemo....so ready to get moving forward.

Juneau your reconstruction looks wonderful. I am scheduled to get mine this Friday How does it feel? I was told thet the implant is an in and out procedure, Already filled the prescription for pain killers and antibiotics I do a followup with PS on Monday. I do want to go a touch smaller than I was so I hope it works the first time around.

Yeah, I'm not feeling like a "survivor" right now... Though I am alive, it's true. Liefie is right, when I am feeling physically ok my mood is decent! The last few days have been hard. Muscles/nerves  around my modest implant are bugging me. I'm quitting wearing a bra for now, pressure bothers,PS said all is ok, prob a nerve thing. , AI SEs stressing me, shoulder woke me up, anxiety dreams. Plus it is storming outside right now. Ativan here I come.

Sue 2690: Those xkcd images are spot on!  Couldn't have said it better.

Juneau: the girls looks good.  I'm so, so happy that all went well for you.  Congratulations.

Doxielover: Unwelcome, as someone said to me when I came to the group.  A great supportive group awaits.

Doxielover, it's still 2012! Climb aboard.

Lisa, hope your pain eases up soon. You do not always have to feel like a survivor to actually be one.

Regarding the cartoons, I can see how different people would have different responses. The last one with the lanes helped structure my thoughts. I needed a different way to think about cancer and treatment decisions. But people who are done with treatment and just want to get on with their lives might not want to look at them.
