Blue----Lilah so cute!  It will take all of you time to heal.

Our Thanksgiving was with our kids and gkids, the whole 9 nine yards, with the exception of candied yams.  Our son ordered a dinner from the deli and when all was said and done it was decided that doing everything yourself was better!! and more fun.

This year was the 1st time I went out on BF at 10:30 am . Went to see the crowds, they were gone.  If I had been in shopping mode, I could have done my shopping no problem.

Nobody reported the neighbours - the mods said "no politics" and said they would delete and they did - end of story.

The Mods actually said, "We at BCO have decided to re-instate our policy on no politics, unless directly related to healthcare. We are posting this in various topics throughout the boards. With the US elections behind us, we feel that this is a good time to return to this policy, and bring a greater sense of calm in this regard. We sincerely appreciate your understanding. Best, Your Mods"

I thought they were talking about health care.  Things are very confused over there.

Maybe the mods mean talking about politics as related to healthcare in a respectful, mature way?

Edited to remove a possibly inflammatory remark. Tongue Out

    Beautiful panels, Blue.

I didn't actually go in any stores yesterday, but my DD who is visiting from CA wanted to hit Best Buy so I dropped her off while I paid a visit to my father.  The parking lot was nuts.  The grocery was nice and empty, a wonderful change from two days ago.

MIL still in the hospital, still has congestion in her chest.  She's having some hallucinations, which I think are related to the drugs.  STill hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst.

This week has been terrible for my writing schedule, between my MIL's illness and the holiday, I've written exactly a half page.  Goal was twenty pages.

Mary, under our BC/BS we have always been allowed one colonoscopy a year. Not that I want one that often! Surprised

I know everybody's insurance is different though. Hopefully all who need one will now be able to get one.

Blue...another cartoon winner.  How adorable and as always so often, making a real point as viewed through the eyes.

Lovely day here but cold...we are going to have winter for a short while, but who knows what after that.  Strange and unpredictable weather here now seems to be the norm.  That is not a great thought, but we will survive as we always do.

Alexandria.....still sending hope and positive vibes through the universe for your MIL.   Is nice to walk through the grocery store again and zip up and down a bit again.  I'm not a great grocery shopper either, but it takes awhile as being the somewhat un-trusting person I am, I have to re-read the labels every time.  I don't like finding sugars, salts and strange unpronouncable items in things that a month before were not there.

Jackie -- It's turned very cold and windy here too -- but NO SNOW!

Alex -- Sending good wishes for your Mom, and that you start writing in earnest again!

Enjoyful left here about an hour ago on her way to see Sandy, and possibly Blue too!  We had such a DELIGHTFUL visit -- she's one in a million.  To think that BC brought us together -- adversity does sometimes lead to something wonderful, such as meeting you all here.  You're the bestest!Laughing

Smiling at the thought of Enjoyful and Lindasa's visit! This is quite the weekend for BCO get-togethers . . . I'm planning to have dinner tonight with our chaplain/bartender and will drink a toast to all of you. So thankful to have each of you in my life.

I'm so happy Linda and Enjoyful were together last night .. and today she's on her way to see Sandy.  Sure hope Sandy and Enjoyful can make it to Blue's house.  I bet Blue could really use a lift to her spirits right now.

LindaE ... I love the Chaplain ... so glad you get to see her tonight.  I'm wondering if you're going to be in the Windy City tonight or somewhere in North Carolina?

I love all you guys and I'm so glad you're all together ... I confess to being a little envious and wish I was there too.

It's really cold today in the low 40's, and windy too.  My dogs don't care one bit that my feet feel like ice cubes .. they still want to go for a walk.

    hugs to everyone,

    Bren

It wasn't me either, but I have to laugh and laugh and laugh - and kudos to whoever did it! One's own medicine never tastes good, I'm sure. Our bartender can surely come up with a commemorative cocktail. I remember our dear konakat was bumped off BCO for about 24 hours for posts that did not violate the rules just before she was about to have WBR. Yes, one's own medicine has to have a bitter taste.

I am so jealous of all your meetings that it hurts - silly, huh? But there you are.

I don't maul, so if anyone comes by our nation's capital - please let me know!

I just think rules are being violated, and rules are being enforced. Simple as that.

Excellent!  I am very pleased that Blue will get to see the others. It was a big disappointment  that I couldn't go.  Seems that a broken shoulder is not so good gor driving my manual transmission car.  That and I have to figure out how to dress myself. PJs day today.

How wonderful that some from this board are getting together.  Cheers to you and pictures please!  Lassie - sorry to hear about your shoulder.  That's rough.

Sun - 8000 iu's of D(3?) a day?   Athena - what amout of supplemenation did you do, D2 or D3?? GG - I took my weekly megadose of D3 on Wednesday and then another daily dose the next morning and I do think my joint pain was less.

Saw my MO last week and she never once mentioned vitamin D.  Then when she suggested Tamoxifen, I told her in no way would I want to worry about uterine cancer or blood clots and she responded "Why didn't you get your uterus out?"  I mean, she is my physician who I saw 2 weeks before my ooph, 4 weeks before my ooph, and about 15 more times before my ooph for chemo, the day she Rx'd exemestane and never once did she mention me having my uterus removed and then she comes at me with this question!  I feel so undercared for.  Do you learn more from your MO or from this website?

Kam, it should be D3 and not D2. Oncs almost never mention this, unfortunately. I am at 10,000 IU/day and have been at that level for about three years with no problems. I would suggest that you go not by dose but by blood levels. If you get your blood monitored regularly you can make sure they include D3 testing. People will reach optimal plasma concentrations at different doses, and it may take months to happen. Our metabolisms are unique, and the brand you use may make a difference.

Thanks Athena - how do you take the 10,000 IU's??  Twice a day? Once a day??

Certainly, when I get D3 test this week, I will surely blame Obamacare if it isn't in the right range.  The price of pizzas, tv sets, why not my D3 levels!

I would ask my doctor about that, Kam. I'd be loathe to tell you how to take it or how much.

What kind of doctor?  I was under the impression you were self-treating yourself since you mentioned MO's never mention Vit D.  My PCP was the one that gave me the mega dose.  I won't see her for a few weeks.  I'm just going to add 5,000 total IUs a day, for now, maybe twice a day.  I know 3,000 IUs a day does not produce toxicity and I'm very deficient based on my last test.  I have an Rx to test anytime I want before returning to my PCP.  I'm just feeling an overall lack of confidence in my doctors at the moment, especially my MO.  The latter and I were discussing another recent study vis a vis my BC and it was obvious she didn't know the facts of the study like I did, but I wasn't going to argue with her.

Okay ... it's official ... I am so envious of the gals going over to Blue's house today.  I'm so happy they are getting together!  They are three of my most favorite people!  And I really miss them after spending the weekend with them in Niagara on the Lake.

Athena .. I would consider a drive up north if there was a get together in the DC area.  I think it would take me a couple of hours to get there.  But it would be so worth it to meet you and see Layne and Enjoyful again.  I think there are others that post in our thread that are here in Virginia too.

Well ... I bundled up and walked the dogs.  It was so cold and windy out, I didn't really enjoy it.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me.  I've applied for a Human Resources position and it's only 15 miles away from my house!

    hugs,

    Bren

Bren, glad we are of the same mind. I have been thinking about it. Wish I had more than a pad to offer. Maybe we could get together in a public place. Our northern sisters could come down...

Kam, I mentioned it to my onc, and he has been monitoring the blood levels. I would imagine you could also ask your PCP. My dose is on the high side and my doctors raised their eyebrows; as long as they see you are in the therapeutic range they may not care. But I'd be stepping over into dangerous and reckless territory of giving a medical opinion and advice (with no qualification to do so) if I told you how much to take, etc.... I tend to present my poor doctors with faits accomplis - lol! Not recommended. Each body is different.

I understand Athena....I've watched lectures on Youtube from one Nutritional Physiologist about an appropriate dosage to get one into normal without reaching toxicity (i.e conservative), and it was 2800 IUs. I figure I'm safe if I don't go over 5,000 since I'm so low...atleast until I can get tested again.

Athena .. just let me know when and where.  I would make a day trip out of the drive ... because of my dogs, I wouldn't be able to spend the night up there.  So lunch in the Arlington area would be great!

    hugs,

    Bren
