Here are a few samples of my music:The first one is one I did. I do them for fun so they are "light" not "heavy" like my classical music. (I added all the parts with my computer & there is a digital guitar).

imageThese 2 are Brahms from one of my recitals.

Getting Closer. I'll try more tomorrow...Goodnight all...

Ray of course the Lord new what he was doing:) You're already an amazing mom. He will bless you & you're such a blessing to him. His life will be better because of you & your husband. The pictures are so fun! Love seeing happy kids:) They are so priceless & have such a great spirit. He definitely is a happy spirit:)

As for the music. Sigh. I tried to put a link on & it turned to the mumble jumble up there. Still trying to figure it out:(

Sorry to ruin sushi even more. I love the stuff!

    Happy "fall back..."

Time to catch up on the weekend news.....

Loved your maple bar pic, TallM--mouthwatering for sure!  Is it a scone recipe that you frost with maple icing? I need to try making scones again for my family.  I love them with honeybutter, too.

Ray--thanks for another adorable picture of Jacob!  He is just  too cute in that hat of yours! I can imagine him having loads of  fun with those blocks, too.  So glad  the toddler shower went well.  What fun it must've been for your family and friends to "shower" you with love and happiness! :)

Didn't have sushi Friday night--ended up going to "Panera" which is a soup and sandwhich restaurant.  Delicious!  We have friends who treat us to a Friday night date a few times a month.  They've been blessed with wealth and insist on picking up the tab everytime.  We "pay" them in kind, taking care of their yard when they leave on trips and with home made breads, jellies, soups, etc. Once my husband wrote a song for the guy's 60th birthday bash ( a surprise idea from his wife) and they loved it!  We passed out copies of the verse so everyone at the party could sing a long. Anyway, this couple is a great blessing in our lives.

Sat. morning I taught a bread making class to 3 of our Young Women who signed up to make bread for the sacrament.  What darling girls!  They LOVED playing with the dough, forming the  loaves, and while we waited for it to rise, they chatted back and forth and totally  entertained me :)  Was it that long ago that I was a teenager???

Sat. night I went out with 2 girl friends from my youth (one visiting from out of  state), and that was a real treat, too.  We compared notes, talking about our past as carefree teenagers, our current struggles and joys, but mostly sharing how grateful we were  for being raised in the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I'm so glad these 2 friends have remained faithful and active in church, enjoying their ward and stake callings and planning on "wearing out their lives" in service :)

Today was stake conference and all the talks were wonderfully inspiring.  The 14 yr-old youth speaker talked  about how  much her testimony of Jesus Christ has grown this year since she's studying the New Testament in Seminary.  She compared how she got to know and form a relationship with her grandfather, who had passed away when she was a baby, by studying his life via picture albums, journal entries, letters he'd written and stories told by other relatives  of  his life. She said  that she felt close to her grandfather and had a relationship with him, even though she'd never met him.  The same with studying the life of Christ through scriptures and lessons in Seminary--she felt close to Jesus Christ and knew Him through her study of His life.  I know this sweet girl will recognize our Savior when she meets Him someday.  How I hope to be able to do the same!

Our stake president LOVES  music and quoted the closing hymn before we sang it.  The words hit  me, very strong, having had the upcoming election  on my mind and worrying about the future of our nation and world, in general.  The first 2 lines of this  verse he quoted calmed my troubled heart.

"Now Let  Us Rejoice" (3rd verse)

In faith we'll rely on the arm of Jehovah
To guide thru these last days of trouble and gloom,
And after the scourges and harvest are over,
We'll rise with the just when the Savior doth come.
Then all that was promised the Saints will be given,
And they will be crown'd with the angels of heav'n,
And earth will appear as the Garden of Eden,
And Christ and his people will ever be one.

    Text: William W. Phelps

    Keep counting your blessings, everyone!Smile

Dear Ray--I'm very glad you posted that talk from President Monson and gave us excerpts from it.  I really needed something to lift my spirits tonight, and this was it.

I love the metaphor Pres. Monson used regarding David's stones that conquered Goliath.  In 1978 I was in Israel for a semester abroad program.  I have a stone I picked up in the Valley of Elah where that infamous battle took place. Maybe I should name it, too, like Pres. Monson has  done.  I think I need to name it "Believe," because I'm feeling like the man in the scriptures (Mark 9:24) who asked the Savior to "help thou my unbelief." I worry over our country and the way it's being lead.  I see how people are turning away from God and the wisdom and safety He provides with His commandments.  I've wept a lot today over my children and grand children's future. Deep down, I know it's still the best of times and the worst of times--always will be--but I just had a dream crushed tonight and have had a hard time believing in the future of our nation.  Its choices, as a whole, are getting further and further away from truth and light.  I'm hoping that my attitude will brighten tomorrow and  I'll do the right thing; find joy in doing good and serving the Lord.

My daughter's  young  sister-in-law posted this on her FB page last night. There is wisdom and excellence in focusing on what we CAN do for our country, one home at a time :)

"I can leave the outside world by entering our home. I ALLOW what I want in. In our home we believe in a Republic. We pave the road for our children to become Spirtual Giants and Defenders of Truth. We teach our children to be productive citizens, to be survivors, to be compassionate, to be respectful, to be humble and to be responsible for themselves.

My friends, stand strong and firm in your home!!"

Hi All! PHEW. had to catch my breath & grab a drink:) I feel like a chicken with its head cut off...:-) Doing well though & feeling pretty good:) Can't complain. MUCH better that last year. Although the election almost made me ill... & a little, ok a LOT nervous:-{ Many thought that just because we are LDS we were voting for Mitt. NOT! That's NOT how I vote:o Well hopefully pray for the pres as the church has asked, but most importantly I'll pray for the country to be continually protected by the military, jobs will go up, natural resources will be utilized here in the USA, China wont want there debt repaid now (so we can still be Americans) those that don't work will not continue to want a free handout, taxes will stay in control...oops just I just write all that:o Well I wouldn't want to erase it all now:-{ Done for a bit...

Doing well, treatment today, taught...Off to Idaho tomorrow to Idaho for my nephews farewell Sun! Wow. Time flies. Enjoy EVERY minute Ray (I'm sure you are:) It really goes fast:)

Thanks for the links, talks, words of wisdom etc! I echo all you guys have passed on! And needed too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR RAY!!!!! Laughing I know you're asleep by now, and I should've posted something much earlier--d'oh!  Hope you had some yummy treats and lots of hugs and kisses from your little guy (and big guy, too! ;)

TallM--I'm right with you on the election stuff making me ill.  And that  scripture reference you posted is quite telling  for us. I read a blog post that summed up my feelings about the election, completely.  Here's the link:

    http://womenfortruth.blogspot.com/2012/11/a-post-election-letter-to-my-children.html

Hope you have a great time in Idaho at the mission farewell--how nice! My 16 yr-old daughter came home from a volleyball game the night of the election and heard the sad news, so she went to her room and watched youtube videos of young men opening up their mission calls.  She  said they always make her happy when she's feeling  down :)

Hey--that treatment for Met.BC in the article you posted sounds really exciting!  Thanks  for sharing the link and letting us know that the Huntsman ctr. is working  on some promising treatments.

Haven't heard from  Susan in a while. Hope you're doing OK!

Tomorrow's Friday--yes!  Weekends make life worth living :)

    Hi, All!

So far it's been a good Friday.  How did the  pack meeting go last night, Ray? I KNOW you did a wonderful job for those lucky boys and their families.  You're the  type to add that special, extra touch to all you do :) I hope you get some quality rest/vacay this weekend.  And TallM--I hope your tx are going well so  you can continue to enjoy traveling back and forth to Idaho.  Where will you be for Thanksgiving?  I'll be working with a group of our youth at Deseret Idustries early tomorrow morning, so this is a last minute post before bed.  Thought I'd share a silly video with you since I've been WAY  too serious after the election.  Hope you enjoy it!

    Hello Ladies

I'm not LDS, but I certainly wish we had a president who is! I had such high hopes that we would elect a man who honors our GOD, our family values, our troops, our allies, and our citizens.

I feel sick that so many seemed to have chosen evil over good.

I'll just keep praying and believing for Almighty God to turn this nation around.

    Blessings

Hi Paula! You're ALWAYS welcome. We love having all denominations, religious & non:-)

Hi Susan! Hope all is well with you & you're feeling better.

((((Mama RAY)))) I hope you are feeling better or will be soon. I'm sorry you're having a down spell. Those are annoying. I think I to try to be perfect. It can be stressfull. When I got sick that all changed & the stress of day to day has completely changed. I've been able to take a step back & see life TOTALLY differently. One thing I know is that we don't need to be perfect here & now, we have all the eternities to work on that too. I'm so far from perfect but I know I'm doing the best I can right now:) You are what you need to be right now. Letting go is hard, fear & anger are tools to make us feel like we are not able to do the things the Lord knows we can & are not from him:) I know you're stronger than you know. Feel better:} Sssssooooooooonnn.

"The past is behind--we must learn from it. The future is ahead--we must prepare for it. The present is now--we must live in it." --Thomas Monson

I went to see "The Adams Family" play Tues night & it was so funny. It was done by a traveling broadway group. It was really fun to get out & SIT:) So thankful for the big & more importantly the little things & what I used to take for granted.

So today I started rehab to help me get even stronger & get back to exercising. It's amazing how fast I wear out but a miracle of how much stronger I am than last year:) I also found out my tumor marker test results: 19.30. Anything below 40 is normal! That means treatment is working! All the other blood test look good too:) Happy dance here. Thank you again for the MANY thoughts & prayers. Keep them coming they're doing wonders. Love to all! Keep living each day & moment to the fullest. Everyday is a gift & everyday you're alive you have a purpose. (Ray this made me smile:-)

Hi to you too Joanne:) Hope the recital prep is going well & you are getting ready to enjoy FRIDAY, (aka-Joanne day:)

Happy day & evening to all. I've missed not "talking" everyday. But I know when I need peace & strength this is a place I can come:-) Plus I uaually have you with me in mu phone:) Cheers all...Live, Laugh, Love...

Happy belated birthday, Paula!  Thanks for posting and sharing your sentiments about Mitt and his character and faith.  I  know you have incredible faith, too, and live a life close to our Savior and His teachings.  You're always welcome to post here with us :)

Susan--SO glad you posted again!  I feared that I scared you away with a political post I made on this thread after the election.  Embarassed I was just about to PM you and ask if were the case, but then I saw your post and I felt relieved. Glad you're still hanging with us! Hope you're staying well and preparing  for a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

Ray--you've been through some HUGE life changes in just the past few months.  BC is a big one, and so is adopting a little boy that needs your love and attention every day. I think Malinda (TallM) has given you some wonderful advice and a terrific quote from Pres. Monson.  The scriptures tell us that perfection is a process, which is very good news for women like us with high expectations of ourselves. We're all a "work in progress."  I found this in my scripture study group lesson that reminded me of relying on the atonement of Christ when we are feeling low, small and needing help from the Lord.

2 Nephi 25:23 "....for we know that it is by grace that we are saved after all we can do."

You are raising a little boy in the  gospel of Jesus Christ, and giving him an eternal family, Ray.  That's a HUGE part of "all we can do."  You're on the right path to perfection and doing just fine Wink

TallM--what a fun event, seeing the Adams Family!  And I believe you when you're happy about finally being able to sit, comfortably, through something like that.  I'm SO glad your body is healing and you're able to do the things you normally took for granted.  And those TMs--wow! Great scores!  You've responded really, really well to treatment, and the prayers and priesthood blessings have made  up for what medicine cannot do.  Enjoy your returning health, Malinda!

I just returned from a late shopping trip with my youngest daughter, Anna.  She loves to drive me places, hoping to get her license soon.  She finished her Personal Progress goals in the Young Women program at church this week, so she can now make an appt. for her driving test. The rule in our house has been: boys must get their Eagle Scout award and girls must get their Personal Progress award to merit a drivers license.  Anyway, as we left the  last store, Anna said, "May I treat you to an ice cream cone, Mom?"  After I said, "Alright!" she said, "Did you ever think your little girl would be old enough to drive and buy you an ice cream cone?"  I didn't know what to say--I wanted to cry, just a little.  How well I remember preparing  for her birth as my last child and taking her home from the  hospital in her fluffy pink blankets and "It's a Girl!" balloon bouquet. Time passes quicker as I get older, reminding me to keep trying to do better and acknowledging the good things in every day.

Here's to a fabulous Friday, Everyone! (Malinda--thanks for renaming it in my honor :)

Sorry about the Dr. thing, Susan.  I sure hope you find an onc. you enjoy talking to and handling your medical needs.  Have you asked the ladies on the Illinois thread?  I'm sure they could recommend a few.  You'll be in my prayers, as always :)

I meant to share with you the wonderful feeling I had, listening to 3 of my students play the piano for our Young Women in Excellence program Tuesday night.  2 played opening  and closing  hymns, and one  played a solo--a lovely arrangement of "I Need Thee Every Hour."  I'm SO glad these young girls are willing to take time to learn the hymns of the church and serve the Lord, sharing their talents!   Warms my heart and gives me hope for future generations. Now, if I could only get my daughter to start playing again... *sigh*

Ray-that b-day party sounded SO FUN!!!!  Your family does a bang-up job, celebrating holidays and birthdays, that's  for sure.  I bet they loved the key lime pies and cupcakes you slaved over, too.  Pass the left overs in my direction, please (or at least the recipe for the pie ;) Hope you truly get some good rest on Sunday.  Did you dance the swing tonight with  your DH or dad?

Susan--hope work goes well and quickly tomorrow.  Glad you have something nice to look forward to on Sunday.  Enjoy the concert and let it inspire you to keep up with your piano studies. It's a great creative outlet!

DH and I saw "Skyfall" tonight and had chicken and  spinach crepes for dinner at a little place by the theater.  Movie was exciting; dinner was VERY rich and fattening.  Gotta walk it off tomorrow.  It's my turn to make treats for the young women's meeting on Sunday.  Wish I could make something without sampling (gorging, more like!) and then hide it from myself!

Looking forward to reading  everyone's posts tomorrow.  Hope it's a good weekend for everyone!

TallM--You saw the movie in style, for sure!  Love IMAX theaters!  I can't access that link you posted, dang it!  Keeps giving me an error message :(

Ray--Sure do  love that little boy of yours--what precious pics!  And you've been inspiring me to get writing again in my journal.  Good for you, keeping it up for your posterity (and your own personal therapy :) Looking forward to  your Sunday stuff you'll be sharing!

The baptism of my friend last night was pure joy.  I loved all the testimonies born as we waited for Heather to dress, and seeing SO many of her new "ward family" there to support her.  She had friends and family there who are not LDS, and they seemed to really enjoy the baptism.  Even the lady that does her eyebrows and eyelashes was there with her husband and daughter!  They're from Viet Nam and France, originally, and  wouldn't you know, a member who served in France had fun speaking French again with the husband while we were visiting over cookies in the hallway.  The woman told me they had never been to a Mormon church or known any Mormons until Heather.  They're looking for a church, so maybe they'll enjoy learning more from the missionaries.  We'll  see.

I spoke on the Holy Ghost as an assigned talk for the baptism.  It was easy to give because I had so many examples of Heather feeling the influence of the Holy Ghost in her life.  She's an example to me of recognizing its influence and acting on it.  That's the most important part.  I'll be in Utah when she receives the gift of the Holy Ghost next Sunday (done by the laying on of hands by those with the priesthood authority), so I'm sad I'll miss it, but I know it will  go well and she'll be very, very happy.  Her tears of joy and gratitude after she was baptized last night were truly beautiful and heart warming.  I know she will be a great asset to her LDS ward (wish it was MY ward she lived in, darn it!) and continue to be a light to others, seeking more about our Savior's gospel.

It's Monday, not Friday, but it's still a good day :)

Ray--how I loved reading your post!  I'm so happy for you, being a mom for 3 weeks--yay!--and for all your growing experiences and a heart overflowing with love and gratitude.  Thanks for thinking of me during the musical presentation on Sunday.  That hymn is one of my favorites and should be sung every day!  Here are the words  for those who may not be familiar with it (I've posted this on the song thread before, too)

Because I Have Been  Given Much

    "Because I have been given much, I too must give;

Because of thy great bounty, Lord, each day I live.

I shall divide my gifts from thee, with every brother that I see

Who has the need of help from me.

Because I have been blessed by thy great love, dear Lord.

I'll share thy love again, according to Thy word.

I shall give love to those in need; I'll show that love by word and deed:

Thus shall my thanks be thanks in deed."

Ray--I'm so happy that the woman who was unkind decided it was time to apologize.  What a wonderful feeling that must have been between the 2 of you, and I know the burden was lifted a LOT in her behalf.  I know  this, because I've been in her position before and it feels so much better, apologizing and righting a wrong. I hope you find a new friend in her now.  It  will  be nice to be able to smile at her when you see her on Sunday ;) Loved your "spark" quote, too--it's a perfect analogy.  I'll be using that one in a Young Women lesson, for sure. Hey!  How  long has  your YW Pres. been out of BC tx?  Did she  tell  you what stage?  I'm always anxious to hear others' stories and how many years out from dx.

I've been looking  for Christmas gift ideas for my married children and am coming up empty.  Any help would be appreciated!  It's gotta be cheap (under $20) or better yet, free! ;)  I may do something that raro suggested and make personized pillow cases for all my kids and grand kids.  That is, if  I can get my bum in gear and sew them before my first set of married children arrive, mid Dec.  I'm such a procrastinator!

    Good Tuesday to all!

Susan--hugs and best wishes to you with your new treatment!  I hope you're able to enjoy some good  food for Thanksgiving, but mostly, good company :)  Will your daughter be with you?  Hope so!

TallM--where  will you be for Thanksgiving?  It would be very cool if we could meet up when I'm in Utah, but I know  time is short for both of us when we're with family.  I'll be there Thur. thru Mon. morning, but I won't have a car.  If you're any where near Lehi or Provo, I'd love to see you!  If not this time, next time....when Ray can join us :)

Joanne, if you have never been on pinterest, you need to try it. got lots of gift ideas and tons of other stuff. people post what they do and you can copy. most stuff is pretty cheap to do. I love stealing ideas.

RayRAy, wow, question about my family and fun holidays...fun and my family are words not usually used in the same sentence..lol I always wanted the "walton" family Christmas. someone told me a long time ago, I need a new cast of characters..lol  My daughter will be in with her fiance and the and my hubby and i have a great time together. she is going to my chemo infusion with me tomorrow, she told me we could snuggle the whole time. There is so much beauty in the fire, I know it sounds strange, but i so enjoy those moments. The depth you feel at those times is incredible.

TallM, hope you are feeling great and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

Hey you girls, I am feeling a little left out of the "reunion"  I can fly out somewhere tooooooooooo :)  :)
