Sara, flood was not only no fun... it sucked! Worst part is today I found out I have a main line clog!!!! I can't even believe all the water and electricity issues I've had with my house in the past few months. Water and electricity... think someone is trying to get me?? :-).

Thank you to everyone for your kindness. I sincerely don't know what I would do if I didn't have you to vent to. Rocky, we'd better not be asking what's going to happen next. I do have a lot of questions about the colostomy and my doc isn't the talkative kind so I will be taking you up on your offers of info. Thank God for you ladies. Hope you had an awesome weekend.

I have a question. What do you use for dry skin? I've tried Aveeno, Vaseline, CeraVue, Gold Bond and Baby Lotion. Nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm sort of new but like this thread. When my skin is really dry, I use Eucerin. It was recommended for my lymphedema and I find it is the best for really dry areas.

Happy Holidays Everyone! If were not posting, were just not as pissed off :-). Hope you are doing well Rohanna. I used Neutrogena "hand cream." I use it on elbows and sometimes feet too. I hate anything greasy so this product works great for me.

For dry skin I've been using coconut oil. But that's because I'm afraid to use anything else. I switch soaps, again out of fear. I'm using one by Natures Gate that I get at Wholefoods. My skin is much less dry & I no longer itch. The soap suds well & rinses off easily. I guess I'm less cheezed becuase of it? Next week I might have something to report because I'm scheduled for the D&C polyp removal surgery thing(good ole Tamoxifen at work). Hard to imagine having surgery(even outpatient surgery) without finding something to be pissed off about.

Thanks for the tip, Cora. I talked to a friend of mine who works in a nursing home. She said for extreme cases of dry skin and to prevent bed sores, they use Crisco. Yep, Crisco! If that doesn't work, I'll try the coconut oil.

Rohanna, I suppose I could tell you not to give a shit about the colostomy, but hey... what do I know. Actually, I am really sorry that happened to you. I am off to a BS check-up and I know my answer to him when he asks how I'm doing... I've aged 10 years and gained 10 pounds, other then that I am still my snarky self :-).

I detest the smell of coconut, so have used almond oil. Amazing how my skin just drinks it up. After a few minutes it doesn't even feel greasy.

Ladies, I am with you. Even though I am, thank G-d, more than 5 yrs after the diagnosis, I now have LE ( another wonderful result of BC, and if your dumb MD didn't warn you, beware. Even people who had only sentinel, can get it! ) and I just loved the village idiot answer. I doubt I'll have the guts to use it but it's so on target. All I got to say is that if you've never had CA, there's no way for you to know what it is like. Besides, we all have our own individual reactions to chemo. Some people are just so dumb. I had someone say to me that it wasn't really that serious. After all, it was caught early...I think it's just denial because they're scared of the BIG BAD C.

dassi52, sorry to hear you ended up with LE also. The more I read, the more I noticed how high the percentage really is. I tried to avoid it by having a frank discussion with my BS prior to surgery. Thought I had it covered until last May when my breast swelled up and changed my once lovely 36Bs to a D and a B. I'm now about a 36C, but the LE is there. It sucks when you are starting to get back to normal and just waiting for your hair to grow and then your body distorts.
Here you go Rohanna... I'm cheezed that my cancer breast actually looks better than my healthy breast!

Ok, here's what I did for the dry skin. I mixed Aquaphor, Sesame Oil, and Vaseline clinical care lotion in a bowl and slathered myself with it. And it worked! Hallelujah! Maybe I'm a mad scientist at heart!

One of the crappy parts of LE, is waking up with strange creases on your breast from sheets and blankets (think pants too tight on your belly) and then wondering what your body will look like in 30 years (that is if you're still here :-)). Same goes for the other SE's that may be permanent from BC. Will these things get worse in years to come, stay stable or go away. I never used to think that any aliment could be permanent. Now that is always the first thing on my mind when something has been around for a month already!

Okay, it took me 1-1/2 days of off and on reading but I have read this entire thread. Not a productive day at work for me : ) Love you guys. Love the sarcastic humor and the pissy attitude that can happen with what we have been through.
I have had 5 breast surgeries in the last 18 months - bilateral mast., infection of TE -removal, replacement of TE, TE sprung a leak which cause another replacement of TE and 8 days ago I had both TE removed and implants put in. WHEW! Saying I am sick of this shit is putting it mildly.
I thought after the implants were put in I would be happier. WRONG! These lumps on my chests are so flat and small. WTF did I go through all this misery for? I didn't want stripper boobs put I wanted more than most 11 year olds have. It would probably help tremendously if I lost 50 pounds so my hips weren't as damn big. Then my fake boobs would look bigger! Oh well, I am still alive so I need to shut up.
Plus, I am triple negative which is a whole nother thing to worry about.

IslandGirl, I am also a triple neg who is now 9 years out from diagnosis. There are many of us surviving longer now. It is hard not to worry and to just 'watch and wait' but it has gotten easier for me the farther out I get.

IslandGirl, welcome to our wonderful thread! I think I'd be too frightened to read back through it again, but I did tell someone on another thread my Cracker Barrel story from last year. So much of that crap seems so long ago and at other times it's more memorable than what I ate for breakfast yesterday. Sorry to hear about all the surgeries. Why the heck didn't they match the boobs more to your size (heavy or not)?
As for triple neg... I don't know too much about it, but something tells me if your tumor was estrogen positive... it really can't be negative. At least that's what I learn in college algebra :-).

Try a & d OINTMENT ( not cream)found in the diaper aisle at the grocery store or where the triple antiB ointment is .
Use it OVERnight.

I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through. Sounds like this stinking bowel resection (pun intended) I'm going through. Complications and surgeries, as if BC wasn't enough. But know we're here for you and we'll take this journey with you. I can't tell you how much the cheezers have helped me and lifted me up.

Y'aknow, Rocky , that should be *listed* as one of the first signs IMHO! THAT was precisely what I kept trying to tell my DRs or show my husband. The DH would see it, but look at me as if I had gone crazy and say " So what ?" My answer- " But what IS IT? It has never been there in the prrevious 54 years ! It's new . It's SOMETHING!" ( Yep, I was shouting. )
The more and more I listed on BCO. it seemed nobody could relate ...until I went in the LE threads. By the time my wedding ring didnt fit , I knew for sure.

purple, I also had to figure the LE out for myself. One doc said it will go away in time, the other said maybe LE... try this and try that. I am a problem solver and there I was doing MLD 5 times a day. I was trying all sorts of compression and bounced from a nearby PT to one miles away. Heck, my 2nd PT even had me hooked up to the machine while it squeezed my boob for 30 minutes. Now, while I am all for boob squeezing, this wasn't the type I appreciated :-). The CHEEZEST part was that NOTHING helped!
I was so worn out from dealing with this that I finally took a nose dive and combined with med. tweaking, etc. fell into the darkest depression I had every been in. I am back to me now, but the creases in the morning or from wearing a regular bra feel like a scarlet letter. It is my content reminder that I had BC and I don't get my old body back.

Anybody else ever been on Warfarin? We've been trying to hit a number for 8 wks. now and still no success. You can PM me if you like or post. I'm really tired of driving 22 miles every Monday to get my finger poked and told "Nope, let's change your dosage again."

Rohanna-not sure why you are on warfrin. Maybe you can be switched to a newer anticoagulant like Xeralto that does require blood monitoring? It's been 8weeks & they haven't gotten you to a theraputic level. I'd probably ask.

Hey Cora! I had bowel resection surgery on Halloween because of diverticulitis. After the surgery, they said I had blood clots in my legs and prescribed Warfarin. I think I'm on this drug to avoid some interactions with some other meds I'm taking. I've asked the doctor but really haven't gotten a straight answer. It's really frustrating.
