Dinner was great - we hadn't booked it as a celebration, just a get together with a friend of Steve's and his wife. I've been really tired since Friday - stress relief I guess.
-
Sandy...maybe it's because we neither hiss, spit, nor foam at the mouth. How boring of us!
Glad you enjoyed your dinner, Suzie! -
Ahhh ... if only we was a YouTube ... or had some jumpy things to bounce up and down. I vote we stay boring
Sending good vibes to all the east coasters. Hunker down and be careful everybody!
-
How DO they get by on this site without the bouncy things??

I'm a couger! I sit with Ray all the time and nobody even thinks we're married! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
-
Hey, boring is good, especially right after scans!
-
Blue, people always assume that hubby and I have either been married a VERY short while, or else are carrying on an illicit affair - because we love each other - hold hands in public - even (OMG) KISS!!! how dare we carry on so when we've been together for over thirty years!!!

-
Mary - we're trying to organize a lunch for women from the Pacific Northwest sometime early next year. If you'd be interested, we've been talking about it on the Northwest Ladies link. http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/34/topic/771082?page=2#idx_33

Gosh, I often have dinner with my female friend Hansi, and I don't believe anyone has every thought we were a lesbian couple. I sometimes go out to lunch with married white guys and have not been accused of having an affair. I had l unch today with my lesbian rector and I don't believe anyone has called her partner to out her.
-
So gardengumby-if we all go to lunch together, what will people think?????
Thanks for pointing me to that thread.
Mary

OMG Cherryl Really???????????????
-
Mary, dare I say it? O.R.G.Y.

Need to rant....I doubt this idea will pierce the bubble but:
"African Americans can be many things: thugs, gangstas, Republicans, etc. But the one thing that we cannot be is racist. Although most people define racism as hatred for people of a different race, a more functional definition would be having the power to enforce that hatred socially, politically, and economically. And last time I checked, Black people did not posses that kind of juice."
Another concept that needs to pierce that bubble is that my last dollar does not have the same value as Mitt Romney's last dollar. Ofcourse, his last dollar has far less value to him as he has so many of them!!! My last dollar is worth far more to me, as it does to most of the people in the bubble, so if you think that taxing people fairly, means "equally," our last dollars are NOT equal.
Our "progressive" tax rates have gone from a high of 90% for the highest brackets in the 1960's to 35% today, so now a good portion of the middle class pay the same rate as the wealthest of wealthy income earners (except hedge fund managers who manage to pay the 15% rate) but let's face it, most of the truely wealth get their income passively....
Taxing Paris Hilton's last dollar at 15% or Mitt Romney's last dollar at 15%.....is just plain regressive and UNFAIR.

Good article Kam, but no, it will not pierce the bubble, only cause foaming at the mouth as we continue to deal with non facts. No are so blind as those with eyes and cannot see. End of sermon. The bar is open.

I'll have a hurricane, bartender, as we await the storm. All NYC mass transit is closed for the duration so I'm not going anywhere.

Can I have a G&T ? I haven't had pain meds in 6 hours.
-
Are you weaning yourself off your meds, E? Is the pain subsiding?
Linda
-
G&T for E coming up -
The biggest annoyance will be millions losing power. E, Sun and others stock up well.
I never lose power, lucky me, so I should be ok.
-
I'm rarely off pain meds, Linda.
-
Bartender -- I think a Dark and Stormy would be appropriate. A round for my friends, please, and one for yourself!
-
Settling in to my pre-hurricane dinner: salmon with a ginger-tamari glaze, squash, and (wait for it) spicy brussel sprouts with mint.
And I have a Cuba-style pork roast marinating in the fridge for tomorrow. Gonna slow roast it all afternoon and have it with plantains and rice and sauteed peppers.
Linda
-
I may move in with Linda. You can COOK, woman!
-
Make room for me - what E said!
-
Ha, Lewing we had brussels sprouts tonight too! - drizzled with olive oil, maple syrup and a sprinkling of salt, stirred and roasted. Very easy and the only way I can get DH to eat them. Edited to add: with roasted chicken, potato salad, green peppers picked from the garden today and tomatoes from the garden that have been in a box ripening.
-
I feel so pathetic...I'm making slow cooker enchiladas and a batch of lentil soup for the week. That's the extent of my imagination and cooking abilities.
Linda- I do have a coho filet to bake...ginger tamari glaze. Is that difficult?
Scoots - sorry you have to take the pain meds. Pain sucks.
-
I'm heating up a Lean Cuisine in the microwave. Don't even know which one yet. I live on the edge!
Mary
-
I'll have a Cuba Libre please --- ah, just make it a double.

As long as we're drunk, my nickname for Reince Prebius is Rancid Penis.

OMG, Kam! That is hilarious!! ROFLMAO!

I don't like to insult body parts.
