We need to leave some space for a group of musicians in case E wants to hear something beautiful.

E - if you are still logged on, at what time is the surgery?

From Happy Libby's article.  I didn't know about these two items.

Potentially Violating Ethics Laws (With Paul Ryan’s Brother)
Throughout Romney’s tenure as governor of Massachusetts, the state did frequent business with a marketing company called Imagitas. The company, which was run by former Bain employees Tom Beecher and Tobin Ryan — brother to Romney’s running mate, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan — had been started based on loans from Bain while Romney was still running the company. When it was sold in 2005, Bain — from which Romney still makes a massive amount of money through dividends, interest, and capital gains — tripled its original stake.

Did Romney violate ethics laws by steering contracts towards a company in which he had a financial stake? Nobody knows. Romney never filed disclosure forms detailing in which individual companies Bain Capital held investments, and he and his campaign have refused to answer questions about his financial connection to Imagitas.

His Son’s Connections With A Ponzi Scheme
In 2009 Tagg Romney, Mitt’s eldest son, partnered with several North Carolina investors who are facing a lawsuit in connection to the $8 billion Stanford Financial Group Ponzi scheme, the second largest such scam in history behind only Bernie Madoff’s. Tagg helped these investors form a new company — called Solamere Advisors, a similar title to Romney’s own Solamere Capital — shortly after Allen Stanford was arrested for his crimes.

As Lee Fang reported in The Nation, Tagg Romney then falsely claimed to reporters that Solamere Capital had no involvement with Solamere Advisors — likely because Mitt Romney has invested about $10 million of his own money into his son’s business.

    [W]

Ahhh ... isn't it sweet that Tagg is a 'self-made man' just like his daddy claims to be.  (Pay no attention to those parental investments of millions of $$$ to get them started in the business of using money to make more money.)

Poor people just need to make better choices about who they choose as parents.

A little piece you have probably all seen by now -- courtesy of NBC.

In Ohio, most estimates have Obama leading Romney in early voting by about 30 points: 60 percent to 30 percent. It is true that Democrats have historically had an early-voting advantage, while Republicans tend to win the turnout battle on election day. But in the final stretch of the race — when every stump speech line and scheduling decision is dissected for signs of "confidence" — the Romney campaign seems unsure of its own posture on the issue.

    Ah, another definition of hypocrisy:

WASHINGTON -- In this month's employee newsletter, the head of a Michigan processed-food company endorsed Republican nominee Mitt Romney and criticized President Barack Obama for spending too much government money. Jack DeWitt, the president of Request Foods, called Obama "a complete failure," slamming him on social and economic issues. He did not mention that his company received millions in federal money under Obama.

Request Foods obtained $5.5 million under a federal grant program that Obama's stimulus bill increased by $1 billion. Last year, the company greatly expanded its footprint in Holland, Mich., where it used the money for a water treatment plant to serve a new facility.

The company has also seen a strong increase in sales during the Obama administration.

Linda ... and now that he has used taxpayer money to expand he's going to support the other guy because he wants more tax breaks.  God forbid these characters should give back a little ... it would probably make their little hearts shrivel up.

    Kam - YES!!!

I must say I really worked myself up into a wee frenzy - feel quite exhausted with relief now. I was sure they'd find something after those micro calcs on my mammo 6 mths ago. If you are a bit pessimistic, then when you get good news, it feels great, and if you get bad news you are a bit prepared.

E - cyber hugs from across the seas.

Enjoyful ( and HL) - thinking of both of you, that's me with the M&M's in your pocket, hope it's a fast and successful surgery.

Alexandria - welcome home b4 "Sandy" - NOAA is terrifying us, after last years Halloween SNOW, all are gasing up generators, hearing powers saws going 24/7 all around the area, most leaves are off trees, if the amount of rain predicted does turn to snow in our hilltowns, all bets are off.

    Happy today all -

Ok, so he's not the most objective observer Tongue Out, remember he did write The Kennedy Speech of all time, for Ted at the Democratic Convention, ( "and the dream shall never die"), was it 1980, yikes, my memory for dates is gone, but anyhow, this is GREAT READING.

Ok, E update - she went into surgery at 7:40 a.m. EDT. Her mom, sisters, brother-in-law, daughter and I are here. She was in good spirits - we were laughing and telling stories. We met the surgeon beforehand (seemed nice, slightly resembled Dustin Hoffman with Einstein-like hair). Rather closed-mouth. They called us at 9:00 EDT to tell us she was out of surgery. Surgeon spoke to one sister on the phone -- apparently having seven of us here waiting to pounce was too intimidating for him to come out and see us! ;-) (Dang it, that meant I didn't get a chance to pin him in the corner and interrogate him in surgery-speak!) He said she did fine. He believes he got everything, but of course won't know until the path comes back. We can go see her in an hour (ten-ish) -- they will call us. I will update you when we can go see her.

HL - this sounds encouraging.  Does mean the risks of surgery that E was worried about are no longer?

Suzie - PBMX.  I was just thinking last night, if I knew what I know now......Cry  (Please take this with a grain of salt, but for myslef, I do think this.)

Kam, dunno. I didn't get to interrogate the surgeon -- as soon as we can go back to see her in recovery, I have a whole list of questions I want to ask. I don't know enough yet-- just enough to report that she's out of surgery and what the surgeon said on the phone to her sister. Keeping my fingers crossed I can find someone of whom I can ask more detailed questions (for Suz).

Boring -----made me think of Joane Whorley from the old Laugh-In.  One of those programs I could not wait to see.

Sunflowers -- I have been feeling optimism and Mr. Shrum just adds to it though he certainly is not a favorite of mine.  I do agree though that when it comes down to it, when it comes time to mark a ballot, people are going to be thinking now what was that Romeny said about ????whatever.  He has pandered to so many, so much of the time.  I think it is just as easy, maybe easier to remember what someone states they are going to TAKE away from you as it is what they say they are giving you.

I also think much of what was said parallels a great deal of what I have been reading.  I do think it is going to be close and I'm sure I'm going to be holding my breath way more than once.  Be glad, however it goes though, to have it done and over.  I'm really sick of listening to Romney the magician pull something different out of his hat every time he speaks.  It is going to cost him.

Big sigh of relief that all went well in surgery.  Now all digits crossed that none of the bad stuff was necessary and wasn't mentioned because it didn't happen.  I know that surgeons are often not people persons but calling on the phone?  You gals must have been scary indeed.  You are an angel Libby for being there.  Mega ((hugs)) to you and Gentle ((hugs)) for Scoot.

suzieq ... hooray for boring!  Now you can be glad you did it so you know everything is OK.  The doing and then waiting for results however is the pits.  I prescribe a celebration ... hubby should take you out to dinner at least.

Hoping the Sandy storm does not whack any of you!  Been reading about it and it seems like it is kind of an unusual storm and hard to predict exactly what, when or where.

And in politics ... it seems that the Faux news bunch believes that a Facebook post claiming responsibility for something is all the good, hard evidence anybody should need before they go making official statements about exactly what happened.  Really people??  Facebook??  God help us all if this is the level of critical thinking we ever get stuck with.

I'm so glad things went well for Scoot. I'll be anxiously waiting for updates.

SusieQ-I'm so glad you were boring. I know exactly what you're talking about-preparing yourself for bad news and then good news seems even better. That's exactly how I operate. It's exhausting, though.

Feeling a tad teary today-not sure why, maybe hormonal? But seeing Scoot's and Susie's good news here helped a lot.

CONSUMER SPENDING LIFTS GDP 2 PERCENT

U.S. economic growth picked up in the third quarter, buoyed by consumer spending, gains in the housing market recovery, and federal-government spending. The gross domestic product—the most inclusive and informative measure of goods and services produced by the nation’s economy—grew at an annual rate of 2 percent between July and September. This rate surpassed estimates of economists surveyed by the Dow Jones Newswires—on average, they predicted 1.8 percent annual growth. This quarter's growth was also an increase from the April-June growth rate of 1.3 percent. These numbers will be the final GDP report before the November 6 election, and could provide President Obama with tangible evidence to present to voters that the economy is improving.

I read this elsewhere a bit ago and thought I'd share.  Of course, I'm sure it will be challenged, as it is good news for the President.  His every breath has been challenged by the Regressives.  If he had done everything said, or made all the mistakes he has been given credit for by them....he would have been impeached and removed from office long ago.  Delusions can be grand if meaningless.  Faux Fox is about as subtle as the Grand Canyon.
