RR very much yes and that was the point.  I could copy and paste the piece I read this morning from a Mr. Sooknairine who spoke very eloquently about the same item.  Just to condense -- he felt that Mr. Romney was and I'm being very blunt making a LOT of people look bad with his lies.  He is having little children come up on stage and participate in them, his sons, wife etc. and lastly not to forget he is as well representing his Church which has the appearance of condoning his lies.

While I'm ok with the lady who kindly pm'ed me from the Mirror about the piece being a joke, it was indeed so VERY close to the truth.  Many of us visit each other's threads and it is quite obvious lately.  We each hope our respective candidate wins and I hope that I can handle things with a some grace and style.  It would appear that we here are liars but I guess you can say things like that if you don't attach the name of a person from BC. Org to it.  I'm sure there would be little interest in reading the article I just read.  We each look at what is favorable to how we lean.  So for me, it just turns out there is FAR too many, including many from the Republican side who recognize that Mr. Romney lies and discredits everything that most people hold near and dear........families, little children, faith and Church.  This is his example of what a upright citizen should be.  I have a VERY HUGE problem that Mr. Romney does not tell the truth, flip-flops, obviously condones dirty tricks and voter suppression and then as the gentleman above says, involves and encourages even the youngest members of his family to go along with him.

This is a very good piece and I think there must be a lot of people who feel this way, but that is just my very humble opinion.

    Honesty
is the best policy. We parents teach that to our children at the earliest age.
Obviously the title of this article is a statement in itself, that you don't
hear about most candidates. Many will rush to say that I am making a false
claim, but I am of the opinion that actions speak more loudly than words and the
true measure of a person is what they do, not just what they say.

    Mitt
Romney is in a race for the White House, trying to become the next President Of
The United States. Children and countries will look up to him as the man holding
the highest and most prestigious office in the world, and by that extension he
    represents America in every way.

    To
see if he deserves this title and the respect of the world's easily-influenced
children, we have to look at what he does with his own children. To see if he is
a worthy person to lead the global nations' children, we have to look at his
actions to see if they are honest and demonstrating great character.

     ]>One
thing that is overlooked in this Presidential race is the lack of Mitt's
character and honesty... a telling sign of what a person is really made of. It
is no secret that Mitt Romney has been caught telling lies about everything
under the sun: he is called out on his changing opinions and 'flip flops' from
    sun up to sun down.

    To
measure the seriousness of his dishonesty, we have to look at it from his point
of view, through his eyes. He is a leader in the Mormon Church: he represents
them. When he lies, he brings a cloud of dishonesty and shame to the church he
represents. By extension, he is telling the world that the Mormon Church remains
silent because they condone his behavior. When he lies, he forgets that he
brings shame to the children he leads, his own children.

    When
he constantly lies and brings his kids and grand-kids up on stage to bask in the
glory of his barrage of lies and deceit, he is forcing them to share in his
lies, to share in his dishonesty. He is telling them in no uncertain words that
the action of lying and deceiving the American people is good and is a great
representation of the church that they are part of and the country he
    represents.

    I
am sure that all through their lives, he has taught his children to be honest
and deserving of the blessings that God showers on them. Remember? 'It is easier
for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the
kingdom of heaven.' This phrase is key because the Bible is teaching that
dishonesty and lack of character is what will condemn a man to Hell.

    He
now has his own children sharing in the lies that he says daily, and any child
would be ashamed of him because of his dishonesty. If they agree with his
dishonest approach to the Presidential office he seeks -- lying to the American
people -- then he has already condemned them to Hell as well.

    Is
that all their lives amount to? Is that all they're worth to him? I think as his
children, they deserve much better from a father, I think the American people
deserve much more honesty and character as an example from a President, to lead
    the nation's children.

    Mitt
Romney forgets what America represents. He forgets what the office of the
President represents. He forgets why Presidents are considered to be 'The father
    of the nation'...

    I
see an empty man on stage, a man devoid of honesty and character. I don't want
him leading my children; my beautiful, honest children. I think our children
deserve better, so they can look up to the President and think: I want to be
    like him one day!

Linda, I'm glad to see you here.  I've been wondering how you're doing and figured you've been pretty busy.

Jackie, your statement on honesty and Romney's lack of such is spot on.  I have breakfast with a group of ladies on Tuesdays and we discussed this very thing this morning, along with his clueless, frightening foreign policy speech.

Interesting anecdotal survey - I drive through the countryside to visit one of my daughters and her family.  In 2008 the McCain/Palin signs in the country portion of my drive vastly out-numbered the Obama/Biden signs.  This year there's actually one more Obama/Biden sign than McCain/Palin signs, but there is also one "take our country back in November" sign so I guess it's equal.  In the cities on each end of the trip there are more Obama/Biden signs, so things are looking good here.  But I'm not going to get complacent, gonna keep on workin'.

That satirical piece from the Onion works because it is truthful. It has to be to work.

Jackie - your piece looks heartfelt.  The message is the same though.  This man will say or do anything to get the Presidency.

To the mirror people -  what Romney does is different from promising, let's say, an unemployment rate below xx% at the end of a future term.  This would be a promise one hopes to achieve.  A lie is changing facts or what one says they will do on one day and changing it the next day and denying the previous statement was even made.    It is intentional.  It is deceptive.  It is not about a desire or a hope for the future.  It is lying to get elected.  Romney's debate lies have been well documented.

Edited to add....Lying is also NOT when someone changes an assessment based on new facts.  This is called life!  It is real, it is understandable, it is a good thing!

He's a lot like Cheney this way. It comes in a slicker package, though.

Ironically, Ryan is now saying the 'other side' will basically come in to the VP debate and "call us liars."  Romney/Ryan know the other side has a good case for calling them liars, so he is preemptively trying to get this out into the ether so all of his mirror people will just act and accept this will be a Biden tactic.  Oldest trick in the book.  He wouldn't say this if there wasn't truth in it.

So we should arm the Syrian opposition says Mitt.  Like we armed Saddam Hussein when he was our buddy and the 'freedom fighters' in Afghanistan (that would be Osama bin Laden) against the Soviets?  So once again we can end up back there getting shot at with those same weapons?  Those conflicts have been going on for thousands of years and the one thing both parties have in common is that they hate outsiders (that would be us) who stick their noses in and eventually join forces and turn on us.  Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan ... history would not repeat itself so often if people would just learn from it.

It's macho chest thumping IMO.  We are not the world's mercenaries on call to finance and fight everybody else's battles.  I don't know if some people think we should be boss of the world ... or whether it's the fact that somebody is making piles of money on weapons and wars that drives this impulse to shoot first and wallow around in the quagmire later.  How about we take care of our own problems and people instead?

Now be nice ladies.  'Lies' is so blunt ... they are truth challenged ... or maybe unable to make up their minds from day to day what they believe or want to do ... or maybe they misunderstand a lot and don't know what they are talking about and so make horrible math and other 'mistakes'.  No ... I don't think so either Undecided  Snake oil salesmen is more like it.  They know they are spouting crap and just hope you don't catch on until it's too late.

    Waving happily at Linda!!!

One of my favorites- when Willard's CONTEMPT for people came out in a video tape, when he didn't know he was being videotaped - and called people "victims" ( including all those on Social Security, Medicare, of course programs we PAID INTO before claiming from them, but let's not get bogged down with any facts here) - his FIRST RESPONSE, was to say:

"I stand by what I said, and the words I used were "inelegant" (sic)."

Has anyone heard the latest, when asked about that video the answer was: " I was completely wrong."

Ah, does he mean he was wrong to express contempt for 47% of us, or wrong to be caught telling the truth on videotape?

Imagine, expecting a "safety net" especially for CHILDREN, in the richest country in the world.  Imagine a parent expecting to be able to FEED HER CHILDREN, even if she is currently unemployed, but looking for work, or studying to improve her options for advancing in her employment options.

Where is Eleanor Roosevelt when we need her most.....or maybe Republican Senator Charles Percy, now there was an honorable human being....

I have to say, I dislike the Big Bird ad.  I understand it will appeal to a certain contingent of voters, but it trivializes things. It trivializes what really happenned at that debate.  If, God forbid, Romney gets elected, not having Big Bird will be the least of our problems.  We'll probably get ourselves into another war in the mideast (with Bolten et al at the helm) and 1/2 the country that realizes how dishonest he is, will never trust their own President, let alone foreign leaders.  The other 1/2 will live in la la land and worry about some obscure pink slip law.

We haven't trusted Presidents or government since the Vietnam war.  It's just we keep hoping to turn it around and it never does.

I'm in a crappy mood....less than stellar results on liver stuff from the blood test today.  I'm still going on the cruise and having the scans after I come back, but I didn't want to take the black cloud on vacation with me.

Kam, I agree that the ad trivializes the issues. It also smacks of "is that all ya got?" Of course there is MUCH more to draw attention to, and that is what Obama needs to do, asap. The BB jokes are funny, but come on.

Kam ... true.  But it does drive home the point that their 'plan' is to take away all the things that help the average American citizen ... in favor of spending our money financing things like subsidies to the already hugely profitable oil companies and bumbling into more foreign wars.

Chickadee, so sorry for the not-great bloodwork and the crappy mood . . . I hope sun and spray and cruise ship shenanigans (never been on a cruise myself, but I hear tell!) push the black cloud away.

Kam, I don't think of the WARN Act as obscure, but I hate the way it's being used for political purposes in the current environment.  If defense contactors really think they have to issue notices in response to a sequester that everyone wants to avoid, on the if/come that they MIGHT lose their contracts, then why don't all companies issue them 60 days before any large contract expires on the if/com it might not be renewed?  The answer, of course, is that it's a totally political misuse of a law that's intended to protect workers and communities.

Never mind that the sequester came about because of debt ceiling brinkmanship by Republicans who've all sworn fealty to Grover Norquist and consequently wouldn't entertain the thought of so much as $1 in additional revenues.  They voted for the damn thing because they didn't want to consider raising taxes on millionaires!  Grrrrr . . .

As for Big Bird: I haven't seen the ad yet.  I do think it's funny that there's been a run on Big Bird costumes to wear to rallies.  I understand Big Bird showed up outside a Ryan event in suburban Detroit yesterday.

Chickadee - alas, you are right.  There is far too much partisanship in this country.  Atleast we got to experience something different when we were younger.  Obama even tried, but for no good.  I'm sorry to hear about your initial bloodwork.  I have not had to deal with what you deal with, so I can only imagine.  Hopefully your mind will drift elsewhere while on your cruise.  Nature, for me is the ultimate soul soother.  Nothing like a sunset on the ocean.  Enjoy and relax. xxox
