I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

This is a very good piece and I think there must be a lot of people who feel this way, but that is just my very humble opinion.

Honesty
is the best policy. We parents teach that to our children at the earliest age.
Obviously the title of this article is a statement in itself, that you don't
hear about most candidates. Many will rush to say that I am making a false
claim, but I am of the opinion that actions speak more loudly than words and the
true measure of a person is what they do, not just what they say.

Mitt
Romney is in a race for the White House, trying to become the next President Of
The United States. Children and countries will look up to him as the man holding
the highest and most prestigious office in the world, and by that extension he
represents America in every way.

To
see if he deserves this title and the respect of the world's easily-influenced
children, we have to look at what he does with his own children. To see if he is
a worthy person to lead the global nations' children, we have to look at his
actions to see if they are honest and demonstrating great character.

thing that is overlooked in this Presidential race is the lack of Mitt's
character and honesty... a telling sign of what a person is really made of. It
is no secret that Mitt Romney has been caught telling lies about everything
under the sun: he is called out on his changing opinions and 'flip flops' from
sun up to sun down.

To
measure the seriousness of his dishonesty, we have to look at it from his point
of view, through his eyes. He is a leader in the Mormon Church: he represents
them. When he lies, he brings a cloud of dishonesty and shame to the church he
represents. By extension, he is telling the world that the Mormon Church remains
silent because they condone his behavior. When he lies, he forgets that he
brings shame to the children he leads, his own children.

When
he constantly lies and brings his kids and grand-kids up on stage to bask in the
glory of his barrage of lies and deceit, he is forcing them to share in his
lies, to share in his dishonesty. He is telling them in no uncertain words that
the action of lying and deceiving the American people is good and is a great
representation of the church that they are part of and the country he
represents.

I
am sure that all through their lives, he has taught his children to be honest
and deserving of the blessings that God showers on them. Remember? 'It is easier
for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the
kingdom of heaven.' This phrase is key because the Bible is teaching that
dishonesty and lack of character is what will condemn a man to Hell.

He
now has his own children sharing in the lies that he says daily, and any child
would be ashamed of him because of his dishonesty. If they agree with his
dishonest approach to the Presidential office he seeks -- lying to the American
people -- then he has already condemned them to Hell as well.

Is
that all their lives amount to? Is that all they're worth to him? I think as his
children, they deserve much better from a father, I think the American people
deserve much more honesty and character as an example from a President, to lead
the nation's children.

Mitt
Romney forgets what America represents. He forgets what the office of the
President represents. He forgets why Presidents are considered to be 'The father
of the nation'...

I
see an empty man on stage, a man devoid of honesty and character. I don't want
him leading my children; my beautiful, honest children. I think our children
deserve better, so they can look up to the President and think: I want to be
like him one day!

That satirical piece from the Onion works because it is truthful. It has to be to work.

Jackie - your piece looks heartfelt.  The message is the same though.  This man will say or do anything to get the Presidency.

To the mirror people -  what Romney does is different from promising, let's say, an unemployment rate below xx% at the end of a future term.  This would be a promise one hopes to achieve.  A lie is changing facts or what one says they will do on one day and changing it the next day and denying the previous statement was even made.    It is intentional.  It is deceptive.  It is not about a desire or a hope for the future.  It is lying to get elected.  Romney's debate lies have been well documented.

Edited to add....Lying is also NOT when someone changes an assessment based on new facts.  This is called life!  It is real, it is understandable, it is a good thing! 

He's a lot like Cheney this way. It comes in a slicker package, though.

One of my favorites- when Willard's CONTEMPT for people came out in a video tape, when he didn't know he was being videotaped - and called people "victims" ( including all those on Social Security, Medicare, of course programs we PAID INTO before claiming from them, but let's not get bogged down with any facts here) - his FIRST RESPONSE, was to say:

"I stand by what I said, and the words I used were "inelegant" (sic)."

Has anyone heard the latest, when asked about that video the answer was: " I was completely wrong."

Ah, does he mean he was wrong to express contempt for 47% of us, or wrong to be caught telling the truth on videotape?

Imagine, expecting a "safety net" especially for CHILDREN, in the richest country in the world.  Imagine a parent expecting to be able to FEED HER CHILDREN, even if she is currently unemployed, but looking for work, or studying to improve her options for advancing in her employment options.

Where is Eleanor Roosevelt when we need her most.....or maybe Republican Senator Charles Percy, now there was an honorable human being....

We haven't trusted Presidents or government since the Vietnam war.  It's just we keep hoping to turn it around and it never does.

I'm in a crappy mood....less than stellar results on liver stuff from the blood test today.  I'm still going on the cruise and having the scans after I come back, but I didn't want to take the black cloud on vacation with me.

Kam ... true.  But it does drive home the point that their 'plan' is to take away all the things that help the average American citizen ... in favor of spending our money financing things like subsidies to the already hugely profitable oil companies and bumbling into more foreign wars.

Chickadee - alas, you are right.  There is far too much partisanship in this country.  Atleast we got to experience something different when we were younger.  Obama even tried, but for no good.  I'm sorry to hear about your initial bloodwork.  I have not had to deal with what you deal with, so I can only imagine.  Hopefully your mind will drift elsewhere while on your cruise.  Nature, for me is the ultimate soul soother.  Nothing like a sunset on the ocean.  Enjoy and relax. xxox
