Stormynyte, do you have any links to hemp oil studies? I'm really interested in learning more and have only been able to find studies of hemp oil as an anti-nausea treament and an agent helping other medication's absorption. I wish the people like your sister's friends were more interested in learning the facts and advocating for research rather than pushing smoked marijuana on cancer patients as some type of a cure-all.

Blue, I think this is what I was thinking of..

"More recently, scientists reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD (cannabidiol) slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in laboratory dishes. Some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may slow growth and reduce spread of some forms of cancer. However, these substances have not been tested in humans to find out if they can lower cancer risk. There is no available scientific evidence from controlled studies in humans that cannabinoids can cure or treat cancer. "

     This is from http://www.cancer.org/Treatment/TreatmentsandSideEffects/ComplementaryandAlternativeMedicine/HerbsVitaminsandMinerals/marijuana

but I can't find the actual study they are talking about tho they are listed at the end of the article. Frown

    If you search on pubmed.gov

I *believe* there are studies saying the THC was not proven, but condensed marijuana smoke supposedly had anti estrogenic impact. Sorry I have no link. My smoking days are waaaay behind me. Laughing

How about the "concerned" people who tell you if you cut out dairy you won't get cancer.  Now while dairy may have hormones or estrogen properties, I think I'd have to cut out almost everything to not get estrogen or other bad stuff in my diet.  Of course my BC friend told me about soy protein isolate that I was eating everyday so I decided that I could cut that out.

Rocky, I had gotten so bitchy I couldn't stand myself! I finally said Screw It! This is my birthday month and I'm damn lucky to be here. Then I went and bitched out a lot of the people who think my cancer "wasn't so bad" and decided to use me as a servant. Man! That felt good! I realized a lot of my bad mood was because of them so I said Buh-Bye! I love the story about the ass in the truck. I always have that problem at Costco! My only baby is now 21 and she is seeing Karma kick the butts of the girls who were mean to her in high school. Love it! Hope you're feeling better and things are going well. Love 'ya much!

Blue and Stormy, I'm for anything that will rid us of this damn disease forever. And if it makes you feel good instead of like crap, all the better.

Rock, I had to find out about getting rid of soy from another thread. Why don't doctors tell us this stuff?

rohanna, I was eating protein bars at least once a day.  I knew soy wasn't the best thing to eat these days, but I didn't realize that it was something I should look into.  With all these dipshits telling us about dairy and vitamins and less stress, it gets hard to take anyone seriously.  My doctors didn't mention jack about soy.  I was a big soy eater and now that I don't take hormonals, I know I need to be a little more cautious.

My big cheeze has to do with doctors not telling us about all these things.  As with lymphedema (and thank goodness mine is only in the breast area) and then when you do get the information, they are pointing the finger at the other doctors.  The doctors didn't do this and we need information.  I don't know if mine could have been avoided, but when I look at the list of things not to do and that this is a lifetime risk, well crap, I could have avoided doing tricep dips with my entire body weight if someone said... no, don't do it.

Rocky and Rohanna...Couldn't agree more! I learned about soy, lymphedema, bone density tests, and a bunch of other things here at BCO, not from my doctors. Why?! Cheez.

    Stormynyte, thanks for the info.

And yeah, Rohanna...Feeling good is a very nice side effect!

I went to get a massage today and the woman that owns the company said I needed a doctor's note saying it was ok. What???? I had a massage there last month with a different therapist. They somehow charged my credit card twice so I was going back for a freebee. She ended up writing me a check for the refund and sent me home with a bag of epsom salts and told me to take a bath. I was bummed!

That happened to me too when I went to Massage Envy where I have a membership.  I was doing rads at the time and it ticked me off a ton.  I told them to go ahead, but skip that arm and that side.  I realized later they were covering their asses.  We are all susceptible to LE and if their massage caused it, you could come back to get them.  My guess is that it has happened before.  Still sucks... makes you feel like a lepper.

Rocky, my onc told me to drink protein drinks because I was losing so much weight. After I learned about soy, I checked the ingredients and protein drinks are loaded with soy! WTF When I told him, he said, "Oh, then eat eggs." *sigh* I give up. I'll get my info here!

I'm sorry you guys were treated like that at the massage place but I think Rocky's right. Everybody has to cover their butts these days. It sucks.

On a lighter note, I hope everyone has a safe and restful weekend.

Oh, I'm with you there, rohanna! And isnt it a shame?!
These girls are the BEST.  Some of our med. prof. truly dont deserve the pay they are getting.

Need protein? Need to gain weight ? Sure, go for the eggs, but don't overlook nuts and/or all natural peanut butter  (they also have one with omega 3 added if you want) .  Peanut butter is very fattening....I know! Surprised

Thanks, Purple. I love peanut butter. I grab a spoon and eat it straight out of the jar. Yum!

Today is my birthday and I will NOT wear pink, NOT wear a BC pin, NOT wear a BC bracelet and definitely NOT think about this stinking disease today. I WILL sleep late, eat cake and enjoy my family. And I will say a prayer for all my cheezer friends that they do the same today. Love you Girls!

Happy Birthday Rohanna! Thanks for the endorphins when I visit this cheezed thread!

You are so right about info ... "I'll get my info here!" I found Bag Balm & Benadryl Gel info here on BCO. I had skin peeling of my fingers and real bad itch during chemo. Instead of taking Benadryl tab and falling alseep all day suggested by my Dr ... I used Benadryl gel on the itch. Why didn't my Dr or NP know that? I also learn about almond butter & coconut oil here too.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and the peanut butter cake! I'm being a lazy slug today.

9911, did anyone tell you about Bio Oil? I'm still using it a year later and it's great for a lot of skin problems.

    Hi rohanna-

Yes, I was using Bio Oil last year ... until I was reading something here ... and I had to to rethink. Here is what I was looking at: Bio Oil

So, now I 'm using 100% cocoa butter or coconut oil on my scars ... almost a year from surgery later. I or my body suck at scars.

I agree with earlier posts, why are we in the position of having to research everything ourselves? You need a Ph.d to be a cancer patient! I don't want to track every detail of my care and feel at risk if I don't research every facet of treatment. However, I don't think anybody else is diligently reviewing my files. This is my third round with BC and I don't have the energy or concentration to become my own doctor

Welcome chatter, you are absolutely right. When we are at our lowest, they expect us to make informed decisions. That's why this forum is here. Thank goodness!

Today ... I finally did it! I got a new hair style ... not like chemo didn't give me a new one every month. I'm 1 yr 18 days PFC. Why was this so hard to do? No problem doing chemo ... not like I had a choice. No problem doing surgery ... again ... not like I had a choice. I have a choice ... it was not hard cutting the mullet ... but how short to let it grow long?

So, I ended up with something like this or maybe it'll look this when I get up in the morning: not a pic of me!

Anyway, my husband thinks ... the shorter my hair ... the meaner I am. I was only mean because it took a lot out of me to do it. Just because it's my second time doing this doesn't make it any easier honey or DICK!  Now, I can move on ... more surgery!

When my breast swelled up from LE, my "dick" couldn't feel bad for me at all.  I tried to explain to him... what if you had an extra ball jammed between your legs... I wanted him to imagine the feeling, but I still don't think he got it :-).

Thanks ... I think I might keep the new hairstyle till my hair totally goes straight in about a year. Right now, I have soft waves ... no chemo curls. It's hard going to the hairsylist because you know when you are getting the cut ... the talk is all about your BC. I hate to tell people ... there is no cure for BC yet. All BC are not the same. I don't do pink ribbon.

"Dick" will never understand what we have gone through. We try to keep things as normal as possible not to freak out the kids and family. I remember after a fight a fews years after my first BC  ... I had to remind him it was no picnic for me too.

Rockym ... LE sucks! My sister had 22 nodes taken out and I see her keeping her arm up to keep LE away. You have to wear gloves for everything and have triple antibiotic ointment around for scrapes and cuts. Another SE for BC!

rohanna ... Thanks ... I'm doing fine. I need a breast reduction surgery after the flap surgery. I can let it go, but I have gone this far ... I'm going for near perfect. Anyway, shopping for bras sucks with B+ & C foobs. My PS wanted me to wait 1 year ... well, 1 yr is next month.
