Hey Kathy, I have been to Hawaii with my hubby and it is wonderful. I hope you have the best time ever! We plan to take a cruise to anywhere for our 35th wedding anniversary in 2014. Have a great time!
-
Ohhh kathy im so jealous:). Seriously sounds wonderful have a super fun time:)
I am starting to feel like this sinus stuff will never go away:(. I played hookie today today and went on a ladies day out to a really nice foo foo place and had heavenly food and could not resist desert. Bad to the bone today:(. Does walking through the shops counteract it just a bit?? I will i will i will get motivatated again:). Have a great day tomorrow ladies. Keep us posted teenaj. Nite all! -
I think i had sugar overload. I mispellled many words in previous post. LOL
-
Well Nana, join the crowd. I did absolutely nothing yesterday and I ate chocolate cake! Today I'm behaving myself. I have compnay coming for the weekend and I will be cooking and cleaning like a mad woman. I do enjoy it, but DH will have to help me as I can no longer vacuum or lift things with my right arm. Hopefully I can squeeze a walk in today. I'm trying to do at least three days of exercise. I know that's not much, but it's better than none I guess. I'm also eating better - except for the chocolate cake. It was lowfat however. If you want the recipe, let me know. It's a lot less calories and fat than regular chocolate cake with icing, but more moist and delicious. Super easy too.
-
Hey wonderful ladies, checking in again!!! AteamNana, you will be just fine, just keep checking in and we will all help each other!! Hubby and I are walking alot, but eating alot!! Back to reality on Saturday!! Rocket, recipe please!! You are doing great with walking!!
-
I've been so busy and tired lately I haven't been on BCO much.
After hopping on the scale on Thursday for my weekly weigh in and seeing it inch up again, I've rededicated myself to WW. Thursday I was very good, yesterday I had a picnic with my son at school and was pretty good, had a sandwich and fruit, skipped the chips and lemonade. It was HOT though and today is supposed to be even hotter. Today I'm supposed to referee a soccer game at 12:30 and then my son is playing at 2 pm, but if it's too hot his coach says they won't play, we'll see, it's supposed to be a scorcher here today.
Kindergarten, funny that you're on your way to Hawaii. We're spending the night in Torrance tonight. We're going to the Home Depot Center tonight for a soccer game and then again tomorrow afternoon to see the US Women's National Team play Australia. I'm very excited to see our great women's team. But with the construction on the 405 we decided that it would be much easier if we just stayed the night in Torrance, so we are.
I hope everyone is well, I'm sorry I'm not around much. I'll try to keep up better.
-
Dear CookieMonster, we actually fly back tonight!! We live right across the street from Del Amo Mall, off of Hawthorne!! We get in at midnight!! If you need a cup of coffee, on Sunday morning!!! post back!
-
Kindergarten - sent you a PM.
Trying to avoid breathing in too much smoke - there are fires about, YUCK!
-
Cookiemonster. Hope you are able to steer clear of the fires. So sorry.
I have been staying busy keeping up with the grandsons. It is volleyball season and since my son coaches my DH and I watch the boys a lot to help out. We like DDIL. (darling daughter in law) to be able to go to as many games as possible. We had all 4 boys all day today. They are so much fun but wear us out:). But i would not trade this time with them for anything.
Kathy. Welcome home:). Time to get some gramma time in:)
Rocket. Don't overdo it. Take care of your arm:) -
I have not been in for awhile. Had some complications with muy exchange surgery, been off the health kick. Gained 11 lbs
I joined a walking group competition at work, and am now walking again. Post 2 major surgeries in 2 wks, I can only get up to 2.5 miles a day. Not strong enough for the second 2.5 lap. I'm afraid I'll collapse in the middle of nowhere. It's been 100* plus here for weeks. Just now can get back in the pool, but can't swim laps due to the stretching of the chest. I'm just trying to find the right workout for me.
HEY LOOK I'M THE 1,000TH POST!!!
-
Shechirple. Welcome back. I have been struggling to get back on track with my exercise and eating habits. Took a walk this evening with hubby.
-
Hi, SheChirple, Oh my goodness, that is so great that you are the 1,000th post. Welcome back and you are doing great by joining a walking group!! You have had alot on your plate. Hi, ATeamNana, I had lots of grandbaby time today. In fact, I blew an opportunity to get together with CookieMonster today for coffee. She was in Torrance today, but we had just gotten back from our vacation and our Lily wanted to see us!!!! CookieMonster was so gracious and kind even though I had to cancel our get together. I hope we can do it sometime in the future. Blessings to you all!!!!
-
Kindergarten - I was surprised that with your return time, you wanted to try to get together. Definitely some other time!
-
Here's the low fat chocolate cake recipe:
1 chocolate cake mix (I use the dark chocolate one from Duncan Hines)
4 snack pack pudding cups
2 eggs
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
In large bowl, mix cake mix, pudding cups and the eggs. Stir until well moistened. Batter will be very thick. Pour into lightly greased (spray with cooking spray) 13x9x2" pan. Top with granulated sugar and chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min. Cool on wire rack and serve warm or cool. Enjoy! -
HI, Everyone!! Went to PCP this morning to follow up on Meds, and whoa!, gained some weight while on vacation. CookieMonster, I would have loved to have gotten together, usually I can survive on little sleep the first day back from a trip and it would have been no problem, so definitely we can try to do a get together again!!! Rocket, thank you so much for the recipe, it looks so delicious, can't wait to try it. In the meantime, stepping up the exercise and back hopefully to normal and healthy eating!!! Hugs!!!!
-
Hi ladies, holding steady on the weight, no more weight loss...still have those 4lbs I gained plus! The good news is I feel good. I saw the orthopedic MD & MO on Friday. No surgery for my partial rotator cuff tear & brusitis, I start PT next week. It does feel a little better since the injection of tramadol & the fact that I am not doing all the strenuos things I have done my whole life. I had blood work done at the MO, I should hear this week. I am on the search for a new MO. I deserve more than 3.5 minutes and proper guidance. I asked him about taking benadryl & he said it was OK. REALLY??? everything I have read says no. Time for a new DOC!!!
Have a great everyone! Keep making those right choices & lots of water!! You derserve to feel the best you can!!
-
Hi, TENAJ!!!Good for you, that you are being so proactive with your oncology care!!!! I am so glad that you don't need surgery and you are having less pain!! Thanks for the reminder of water!! Off to drink a glass now!! I am cleaning and sculpting today, hopefully a good form of exercise!!!!Hugs to everyone!!
-
Hi Kindergarten, I am cleaning & sculpting today also.... Hubby is back to work now after being on unemployment for over 1.5 years. ( It was a blessing in alot of ways because he was off to take care of me after my 4 surgeries) He is doing consulting now so he has to be away for a few days. I miss him but I get to catch up on all those chores like cleaning closets & stuff. I am still cleaning out my mother's house & am trying to incorporate some of her things into my house. I also try & catch up with some of my friends & that always seem to involve drinks, food or both!!! I am trying to get back on track....I weigh myself everyday now so I can keep a closer eye on me...
Have a great evening!
(((hugs)))
-
tenaj - funny, my husband was also off work during my primary treatments. It was definitely nice for him to be able to go to all my appointments with me and to help me after my big surgery in December.
-
Hi ladies!!! Just thought I'd share some good news today....got the results of my blood work (breast panel) & everything is within normal limits!!!!
I took a bike ride this morning, I can't believe I need a sweet shirt already!!!! I'll be wearing gloves before I know it. The scale is slowly showing some improvement :-)
Have a great day!!! -
Wonderful news on the bloodwork tenaj! Congrats on the scale too! Keep it up Girl!
-
Congratulations, TenaJ!!!! Great news about your bloodwork. Happy Day!!!
-
Yay Tenaj!!
I was down 1.6 pounds this week time to stay focused now.
-
Go Cookie! You can do this!
Today I go for pool theray for the pain in my arm. The therapist wants me to go into the pool wearing no swim forms. I went and bought an exercise top with no breast pockets and only a shelf bra. It fits better, but I'm really self conscious. Maybe they'll let me throw a tee-shirt over it. Ugh! -
Rocket, sorry that your having pain, hopefully this therapy will give you some relief. I start PT next week for my rotator cuff tear & bursitis. I hope she has some experience with BC. It's easy to say don't be self conscious, but after everything you've been through you deserve to be comfortable & not have those feelings. Hang in there.
Congrats CookieMonster!!! Keep up the good work :-)
Have a great Friday ladies!! -
Hooray, CookieMonster, you are doing great!!!! Rocket, yes, I hope swim therapy helps with the pain. I know that when I swim, it sure helps my LE pain. Good luck with your PT as well, Tenaj!!!! I have not weighed myself since my doc's appt. on Monday, afraid to, he,he,he!!!! I have been eating better since vacation and drinking more water. Have a great weekend and hugs to you all!!!!
-
Rocket, how did your therapy go? I go tomorrow for my initial evaluation. I hope to get some strength back & less pain....I'm staying hopeful & positive.
I worked my first weekend and it was crazy!!! The good news was there was no time to eat so the scale is inching down slowly.
Hello kindergarten, CookieMonster, ATeamNana!!! Thinking about you lovely ladies & hoping things are well. -
It went okay as I like the therapist, but I have so much nerve pain in my hand lately that even gently moving it through the water made it feel like it was broken. It has been throbbing the rest of the day. She asked me to give it one month, and if I didn't have any relief we would stop. I've had the pain in my shoulder, elbow and hand for almost three years now. I have cording, RSD, and LE, so I'm not too hopeful that it's going to be fixed with two weekly pool sessions for a month. Not trying to be negative, but rather realistic. I do thank you for asking. After therapy, I did manage to walk my dogs and again the crisp fall air felt wonderful.
-
Rocket I am so sorry you are dealing with all that discomfort. I confess I had to google RSD & am not that familiar with cording. Is this something you've been dealing with right after surgery or did it develop over time? Hopefully the physical therapy will help & it's good that you like your therapist. Give it a chance to work & keep enjoying those special times.....like enjoying your dogs!!!! I love my dog, heck, I love all dogs....today I visited a patient who had a bull mastif. He was sooo cute & huge!!!! I never saw such big feet!
-
Hi, Ladies!!!! Rocket and Tenaj, Good thoughts and prayers are coming your way for relief of pain and a good therapy program that will help get you both back to normalcy. You are both so upbeat and take everything in stride. Keep enjoying the Fall walks, Rocket and Tenaj have fun with your nursing visits.
I sure miss having a dog!!! We took a long bike ride today along the strand and were able to see our Lily. They live 20 minutes away by car, but when we ride our bikes there along the strand, it is a good hour or so. It was fun!!! But I am sore now. I am back on aromasin, so the joint aches are back, but I feel better now knowing I am taking something to keep the cancer away. Hugs to you all!!!!
