Thoughts and prayers are with you MrsCich for a sucessful surgery and trouble-free recovery.

Welcome Miranda.  Always so sorry when I see someone new has had to join.  A great group of women here but we all wish it was under diff circumstances.

JPmom, getting on with life is thee best reason for not posting.  You give us all hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Scorchy, I'm so glad to see you are pursuing other opinions to find the best course of treatment for yourself.

Juneau, you look great!!  Just think, no more bad hair days for a while :)

Websister, I will be spending the 4th in the BGC as well.  My 4th and final treatment and it can't come fast enough.  This has been the longest summer I can ever remember and I've never looked forward  to Labor Day as much as I have this year.

PAeagles, good luck with your last trip to the bgc.  that was for me the most positive moment this year and still how i most identify myself in this journey.  PFC 9 weeks for  me!  you are almost there.  a few weeks to recover from the side effects and this phase is done for you!

Hi everyone, just checking in. I have been pretty busy between company and pre-op stuff and appts but never a day goes by that I don't atleast take a peak to see what you're up to and think about you all.

Mrscich hopefully you are out of surgery and painfree. Glad to see you had lots of prayers going into this. Let us know how you are doing as soon as you can

Miranda welcome to the best little group you can be a part of under the circumstances. You have a great attitude and I;m sure it will definitely be helpful during this whole bc journey.

Juneaubugg think about you lots and glad to see you are feeling better these days. Hair is great!

Scorchy so sorry you have to fight your way thru this crap. Glad Juneau is in the area for support.

Jpmom so glad you are getting on with somewhat a normal life.

Tina-Jason so glad your "camera bag" is gone and that it helped do the trick.

Websister Happy 30th! I know where you are coming from with spending the aniversary somewhere different. I had my dmx on our 36th! My husband and the doctors joked about how I was one of many ladies that got a new "rack" for their anniversary.lol (if only mine could have been for enhancement purposes only)

Dakota hang in there ; like everyone says the wait is the worst of it.

As for everyone in the BGC heres hoping for SE free days.

And TAZZY geez girl I remember those girls in high school like you that spent so much time behind the shed or in the woods. You better watch out or you'll get a bad reputation! ;) Enjoy the camping.

Hope everyone in the States has a nice Labor Day weekend. Thinking of you all and wishing you the best.

Have lots to catch up on here.....back from Edmonton, Rads start on the 17th of September, need 25 in total.  I will have to move into the city as it is a 4 hour drive from where I live.  I have booked into the Compassion House so hope it all works out.

This last chemo sure sent me for a loop -- still feeling terrible.

Hope you are all doing well.

What a pain that is... they were running so late on a surgery of mine that I told them I was going to send out for pizza if they didn't put me under soon.  They must have believed me as they came for me shortly after my tantrum...

Mrscich; they won't forget you. I waited a really long time too, but a calm started to come over me near the end. I did some meditation, and realized the I wasn't going to be alone in there... I was taking all the love given to me from others; like a big protective blanket. That kept me warm. Hope that helps.

I only had lumpectomy+ALND, and I was more terrified going in than I had ever been for a surgery.

I spent quite a bit of time with Husband, going over things he should know if I didn't make it out of surgery. Probably over did it, but in hindsight it's all stuff he should know, anyway.

I'm pretty sure I would be comfortable sleeping on my right (good) side, but I am also pretty sure I would eventually roll over to the left at some point in my sleep. So I'm sleeping propped up against pillows and with a travel pillow around my neck for now. I'll probably try to sleep lying down once my drain is out and the swelling goes down under my arm. I'm a side and stomach sleeper, always have been, and I have to have one arm up over my head, under the pillow. If someone tried to tell me I could never sleep on my side again, I would probably punch them. There is no other way I can comfortably sleep, and I would just move to that position in my sleep, anyway.

Mrscich:  Thinking of you.  Sending lots of hugs!!  I am so sorry you're having to wait so long.  It reminds me of when I had my BMX in May, but unfortunately, the woman who had surgery before me and then myself caused a 4 hour delay for the person my BS was operating on after me.  I felt so bad afterwards, but my BS said it is not uncommon.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic 3 day weekend!

I had surgery on my nose in 1985 for a deviated septum. The surgeon was over 2 hours late, so they left me in the hallway on a gurney outside the OR for almost 3 hours. I was so cold, and so nervous. Hopefully you're in a warm comfortable place while you wait mrscich.

Still thinking of you & praying.

    Blessings

MrsCich, hopefully you are in the OR by now, and this is almost over for you. Big hugs your way!

Everybody else, I am moving on with my life now. This week I went back to the gym for joga classes and also started exercising with a personal trainer. Seeing that I'm not spending any money on my hair, I can spend it to get back into shape. It is amazing how just doing these things make me feel so normal and part of everyday life again. Tomorrow night we are having a small party at our house which I will cook and prepare for. Finally I don't feel like a cancer patient any more. For that I am so very grateful. The surgeries, chemo and rads are now just a distant memory, and I hope it will soon be the same too for all you lovely ladies still in treatment or going through surgeries.

To the new people whose numbers seem to grow by the day, this is a safe haven where you can come to tell these women anything you want. They understand like nobody else, and will support you no matter what. Best wishes to everybody. I'll be checking in from time to time to see how you all are doing. Thanks for being there for me when I needed you; it is a precious thing.

I had my pre-chemo lab work today and now I need to have the CBC again on Tuesday before I can have the chemo. Neutrophils were 0.2 and need to be 1.5 to have chemo.

Some questions from all of you chemo veterans -

    Did this happen to you?

Is it realistic that my neutrophils would increase that amount over the three day weekend without having had anything to boost them?

From experience, Do you think this means that they will prescribe Neulasta post chemo to prevent this from happening in the future?

Funny, now I'm kind of nervous going into a long weekend with low neutrophils, concerned about possibility of infection, seems like in the past every time I've had an abscess tooth or other infection, it's happened on a long weekend. Trying to make sure not this weekend!

MrsCich - thinking you must have gone in for the surgery,'continuing to think of you

Juneaubug - continuing to think of you in the BGC today, hoping you have a minimal SE weekend

2fried - good to hear from you, we really need to find better ways to celebrate our anniversaries next year

    Miranda - welcome

Jpmomo3 - nice to hear things are going well and that you are getting on with your life

Ramols - hoping that you will be feeling well enough to enjoy this weekend with your family

Firestorm - hope the healing improves and you are able to get on with the chemo next week

PAEaglesfan - congratulations on your last chemo on the 4th! Happy to have company in the BGC that day, looking forward to the day it is my last one, gives me hope!

    Hi Patricia

I love the headcovers.com website and have ordered from it with good results.

Regarding the Herceptin and other chemo - it looks like you will have the initial chemo (fluorouracil) once every three weeks (three weeks equals one cycle) for 4 times. Then you will have Taxol once a week for 12 cycles (each cycle of that is one week). Then (or possibly with the Taxol for 12 of the one week cycles) you will have Herceptin once weekly for 52 weeks (one year).

Websister- I had a low ANC after AC #3 and they repeated it in 2 days and it had increased enough to do chemo. I did not take neulasta. I had a low ANC after AC #4 and they repeated it in one day and it had risen, but not enough to start Taxol so they waited until the next week which gave me a chance to recover better. I had no low counts with Taxol.

Once the nadir is reached they usually recover quite quickly. It always worried me, it they are so low today what were they at their nadir?

The counts should be much better in 3 days.

    Take care

hello websister , I had twice the low neutrophiles issue during AC,  0.4( but no fever or infection)   they postponed the next treatment 3 or4 days. after that I get neopogen , and I was ok. the SE of neupogen are crazy, strong bone pain , but with advils 2 days everything was good. I asked the nurses about advil, of course. just wash your hands and take care of all possibles virus around you ( bit of isolation?)

    good-luck
