I received an email very early in my dx "informing" me that bc is caused by abortion. And that the more abortions someone had, the more "serious" the bc was. I can't reprint what my answer to that idiot was, I would be banned for life.

Warren's the reason my CC company has to let me pay the higher % interest first!  (I'm a bit in debt due to BC.)  I want the one who takes care of the consumer first, not that other one. 

kad2kar is right .... this thread moves so fast it is almost impossible to keep up. Had lunch yesterday with a friend and her 85 year old mother. Somehow we were on the rape topic ( ummmm, it's been in the news lately). Edna, this sweet little lady, told us that when she was in high school the girls were actually told "if you're being raped, relax and enjoy it", then Kam tells us Williams pretty much said the same thing. So Edna was told this some 60+ years ago .... and here we are again. I was actually raped in college by two guys who picked me up when I was hitchhiking. Of course the cops insinuated that it was my fault since I was hitchhiking. I was questioned about what kinds of clothes I was wearing (long sleeve t-shirt, jeans) whether I was braless, etc. They never found the guys but then I doubt they looked very hard since I was "asking for it" by hitchhiking. Needless to say, I never hitchhiked again and fortunately, I was smart enough to not blame myself and moved on with my life. And if I had gotten pregnant from the rape ... I probably would've wanted an abortion but they were illegal and it would've been back alley, and I probably would've gotten breast cancer from the abortion. Oh, wait, I did get breast cancer .... maybe from hitchhiking???

Thanks, Cheryl, for the kind thoughts. This was back in the late 60's but it's amazing that reading through this thread today brought back those memories. It's something you put away but every once in a while you need to talk about it .... mostly to help someone else who's been through similar situations. I believe there's truth to the saying that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger .... and I do believe the rapists eventually get theirs!!

Glenna - so sorry you went through that. I had a near escape once - luckily talked them out of it.

Poppy retrained and now staying outside in the AM - not trying to sneak back in. She's found if she lies on the divan on the verandah she gets the morning sun.

No Blue I haven't but I did notice in the last few days she's been sneezing like crazy and last night she was on my lap for an hour just honky-tonking away - I do know that Bichons have huge breathing problems and one of the solutions is to blow into their nostrils and I have done that and the extreme honky-tonking stops - Munch is going to be 14 in another two weeks or so and for that reason I am scared to give her any meds.  How is Virgil doing?

I've worked at this location for almost 29 years now, and am heartily sick of the whole thing.  I recently got inspired by a co-worker who is moving to a different job next week, and have decided that I'm going to start looking for something different.  The idea is a bit scary for me as I've been here so long, but I'm heartily sick of some of the people I work for (and around).  The big problem is health care, as I doubt that a new place will give it to me, but if I retire from here (which I would) I can carry their health care (I'd have to pay for it, which is costly....) but I think I'll give it a shot.  I don't have much to lose, as I certainly wouldn't quit unless I found something, and I don't intend to continue working here for more than another year and a half anyway.....

Glenna, I'm so sorry for the trauma you endured.  Like so many of us, I had a close call in graduate school.  I punched him in the eye. He is now a Republican pundit in Washington, DC (no, I will not name him even in a PM).  He sent me a dozen red roses the next day.  I snapped each stem and left them in a pile in front of his door. I never see him, but just the sight of his name makes me furious.

 Gardengumby, there is something to be said for finding another job and getting a fresh perspective.  I have worked for a number of organizations and have had 17 jobs in my adult life (I count each new division as a new job).  Good luck!

I've been busy with my marketing.  Surely out of hundreds of mailings, there must be one psychologist out there who needs a transcriptionist.  Please keep your fingers crossed for me.
