Went on a motorcycle ride with my cousin today. Beautiful day...rode through hills and past farms, lakes, ponds....

I have a doctor appointment this afternoon at Dana Farber in Boston, then we are meeting good friends at a Russian restaurant nearby.  It's part of my plan to "dine around the world".

Tillycat - anything that involves both a pool and oceanviews is a winner in my book!  Enjoy!

Scarves look silly on me, I have a very short neck and I haven't found very many ways to wear one that doesn't accentuate the problem.  Too bad, they are so in style!

I took my 8 year old grandson to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA in Williamsburg lastl week. We stayed at a nice hotel thanks to Capital One miles. We rode every roller coaster he was tall enough to ride and I even did it with my eyes wide open. It was so much fun watching his joy. Ended up with blisters on both feet but I did it .... lots of walking, climbing those towers to ride the tubes down the water slides, and just loved being with him. The pass they give to handicapped really helped cut down on my wait time for the rides. I would check in and sometimes they'd let us right on but sometimes they'd say come back in half an hour. Then I could go somewhere and have a drink and wait til my time sitting in the shade. We were able to ride lots more rides than if we had had to wait in the long lines. Boy, this 61 year old gray haired lady got some looks when we rode the roller coasters. I think Thomas will remember this trip with his grandma for the rest of his life! What's next? Sept 7-8 a weekend at the beach with a group of my church girlfriends, then Florida to visit my mom in October. Will also see a couple of my old college friends whilel I'm there and attend my sisters 45th High School Reunion with her. We're only a year apart so I know lots of her friends, too. Planning to cross Ireland off my bucket list in November. Laurie, will it be too cold? Planning on Nov 9-17. Nothing planned for December yet but I'm sure I'll come up with something. Love reading of everyone's adventures. Having chemo only every 4 weeks gives me lots of play time. When I try to wear scares, I look like a little girl trying to play grown up. LOL.

Finally done with the move that has been taking over my life for the last 6 months.  DH is doing much better so my caregiver duties are lessening.  Finally am getting a break to have some fun.

Went to a concert and a gals lunch.

Having a romantic dinner tonight with DH to celebrate our 11 year anniversary.

Getting active with the kids.  Volunteered to be a referee and maybe assistant coach for the kiddy soccer teams.

VERY excited to have been selected to participate in a Casting for Recovery retreat at the end of September.  I get to have a weekend up in the country, learn to fly fish and bond with some of my fellow BC survivors.

Glenna, Your grandson is going to hold all those times you two had together in his heart for life.  So special, isn't it?  Your pretty brave too.  I can't go on rollercoasters, fear of heights    I did manage to go down a huge slide in a sack with my grandaughter when she was Thomas's age.  Never would have done it for my kids, but I'll do anything for her 

It is so nice to read these post, so happy that everyone has something to do that keep their mind of cancer.  I work full time as an IT Analyst, and two months ago I just started a home based business for wedding/events rental, I do wedding decorations from centerpieces to floral decorations etc.., this keeps me busy during my free time and I make money out of it.  It makes me feel good and energize everytime I do setup a wedding :-)

jas2 - welcome!  Sounds like you are doing well, hiking the lovely peaks in England.  I'm a hiker as well and would absolutely love to see photos if you get a chance.

Glenna - your trip with your grandson sounds FUN!!  In fact, your entire post was awesome and I can't wait to see photos from your upcoming trips.  

Just Sue - I'm curious...what is Casting for Recovery?  I don't suppose it is related to fly fishing??  There is a thread on the boards about "bucket list" and I have to say fly fishing is probably one of those things I would love to do.  Please tell us more.

Anybody ever go on the cross country motorcycle conga ride that converges in Wyoming?  I don't ride a motorcycle but I thought it would be fun to go to the party.  Guess that should be on bucket list too.

Glenna, glad you had such a great day with your grandson. My son is almost his age & his best friends are his grandpatents. I can imagine how excited your grandson must have been to share such good time with you.



Laurie, great image with the scarf. Can I find how to do it on the internet? I already have learned a couple of scarf tying on Youtube, but have just seen yours for the first time.



I enjoyed reading all of these posts. Hope I can come up with something fun myself soon. Still in a bit of pain & in the process of absorbing the reality of my dx. It has been a couple of months already, guess I am still able to take a step every couple of weeks

Last week we took our kids to Disneyland in los angeles for three days. We have been there a few times before but had not gone for a year. My girls love this place. It was a last minute trip and my fatigue was manageable and did not have any doctor appts or chemo last week so we decided to it when I could. We decided to stay in the park even though we live an hour and a half away because I did not think i could do that everyday. Since it was so last minute, the hotel caused a fortune. But it was worth it. We stayed inside the park so I could take breaks and relax by the pool in the afternoon and was also was in a wheelchair the entire time which helped. There is no way I could walked and stand in lines. With the wheelchair we could use the handicapped line and that was great.

My parents came along also and it was my dad's first trip. The kids had a blast ( they are 8 and 11) and we're finally able to do a fun trip before school started today. There is something about Disney that kids just love. I also did some rides I have never done before as I was too wimpy--i have faced bigger fears now. It was very exhausting but I am happy we did it. When we left, we found out we could upgrade our tickets to an annual pass for twenty dollars a person. I told my dh not to upgrade mine as I would be gone soon but went back when we was doing it to upgrade my ticket also!!

Oh that sound such fun. It lovely to know that they will have those memories forever - they can tell their grandchildren about it (when theme parks no longer exist except in some strange online format)

Did you borrow a wheelchair there or did you have one. My kids would love to go to disney Paris again (we went 5 years ago ) but I can't imagine coping. There are theme parks in the uk but the queuing in the rain ....... :-((

I've had a very hard time finding things to do since I stopped working. At first there were lots of dr's appts. To keep me busy & I wasn't feeling too well from treatment to do much. Now I'm on a different treatment & feeling much better & I have been getting out more. I volunteer at the cancer alliance center one day a week. I have found support groups to help me. I do go to lunch every once in awhile. All my friends work so it's hard. My energy level is not what it used to be especially because of lung mets but I keep pushing myself when I can. You ladies amaze me & inspire me. I will get out more! Thanks for this post.

Congrats! My younger dd is getting married in 2013 too. The vacation sounds lovely. Enjoy.
